Gold (The Frimmaenti Tree)

Trees are scarce in Kindra, with the amount of fire constantly burning around them playing a huge role in that scarcity. It's a huge problem for anyone who plans to visit the kingdom -- no oxygen can be produced with so few trees, and fire is known for sucking up every bit of oxygen it can. For those who live in Kindra, the low oxygen is hardly a problem.

For those who reside elsewhere, it is a huge one.

Kindran citizens treat their few trees as gold; items so valuable that to have a branch from one could make you rich beyond your wildest dreams. There are just two known branches in circulation, and stealing one from the tree itself, should you find one, is considered treason.

But those branches will burn easily. One from this tree? It never will.

Lava covers the ancient wood, coating the trunk and branches in what appears to be molten gold. From a distance (and it must be quite the distance), you might see some of this lava form shapes of all kinds: a glowing ball that bursts only upon contact with the ground, tossed from branch to sentient branch; a tiny cat, owning more consciousness and longevity, avoiding the unforgiving dirt where its life giver hides its roots; a person -- a child, always a child -- made entirely of liquid rock, these creatures able to walk away from their birthplace without harm. If you are truly lucky, you might even see an egg form within the lava, an object of black obsidian yearning to hatch.

The eggs are a common target of poachers, however. Their occupant is as valuable outside Kindra as the tree is within the kingdom.

Sharp claws. Shimmering scales. Brightly coloured flames that have millions of uses.

If you see a tree filled with lava, watch out.

Dragon poachers will be there too.

Because this, my friend, is the Frimmaenti Tree. In layman's terms, the Dragon Tree.

(Oh, and be wary of law enforcement. That picture you see above is... highly illegal.)

A visit to the Frimmaenti Tree is more difficult than one may expect, given how guarded such a landmark would naturally be -- and all that fire -- but not impossible. You'll have a difficult time proving that you visited, considering the law against pictures of the incredible scene, so make sure you travel with at least two or three others. Preferably three.

One is an accident. Two is a coincidence. Three is a pattern. Four is a standard.

Remember that, if nothing else.
