I opened my eyes to a very white room. I recognized the place as a hospital.

I looked around and first saw a sleeping George. I wanted to get up and see him, but I knew I couldn't. I looked around more and saw flowers on the window sill. I rolled my eyes.

Then someone chuckled.

I looked back over again and saw George was awake now. Or was he ever fully asleep? "Not a fan of the bouquet, huh?"

I opened my mouth and spoke. I clearly needed water. "Who brought them?"

He ignored my question and stood up to hold a cup full of water up to my lips. "I can do this myself," I said.

He shook his head. "Let me help you."

I felt the water travel down my system, giving me the chills.

"Where's everyone else?" I asked.

"They're probably on their way. They went home last night."

"And you stayed?" I asked. "You slept in a chair?"

He chuckled and kissed my forehead. "I wasn't leaving you here alone."

"No one is gonna take me away from you in a hospital." I smiled.

He sat on the edge of the bed and held my hand tightly. "I'm sorry I almost hit you yesterday."

I shook my head. "Don't be. I can't believe you punched Jackson."

"Yeah, I hate that kid. And then those two other people showed up. They didn't tell us who they were." He said.

I swallowed, and my heart rate on the monitor gave away my anxious feeling.

He looked at me funny. "Do you know who they are?"

I nodded. "They were my adoptive parents."

"Oh." He said. "They're here, I think."

"What?" I nearly screamed. My heart rate went crazy, and so did my breathing.

"Deej, hey, they're not going to hurt you. Not anymore." He tried to reassure me.

When that didn't work, he resorted to putting his hands on my face to hold it. My body was still and tense for a while. But then I relaxed, and my heart rate slowed. I rested my cheek on his right hand and closed my eyes. "I missed this."

A doctor came rushing in. "Is everything alright?"

"Took you long enough," George mumbled to me.

I giggled. "Everything is okay. Just a little scare, that's all."

She moved George out of the way and checked my vitals. I wanted to roll my eyes. George wasn't happy about being moved away from me.

The doctor made a hmph sound and started to walk away.

"Wait," I said. "When can I leave?"

"You'll be discharged sometime this afternoon." She closed the door.

I sighed. "You know what else I miss?"

"What is that?" He came back over to me with a smirk.

"Sex," I said. "Man, I thought I'd go the rest of my life without it. Let alone see you again."

"Well," he climbed onto the bed, so he was towering on top of me. "I think we should wait for you to recover a little more before we do that."

I grabbed his face and started kissing him, getting more chills when his fingers softly traced my waist.

There was a knock at the door, and he jumped off of me in a daze. I giggled at his expression.

My parents came in. "Hi, honey." My mom hugged me first. I was surprised they were already up and walking since they were in worse shape than I was. They weren't even in a hospital uniform. Maybe it's because they weren't concussed.

George was perplexed. "Weren't you going to introduce them to me earlier?" He asked.

"Oh yes," I said, sitting up a little. "You might want to fix your hair for this."

He was still terribly puzzled. He touched it a few times but didn't do much to the mop on his head. It was all flattened out from sleeping on it.

"Mom, dad, this is my boyfriend, George Michael." I started. "George, this is... my mom and dad. Eric and Nancy Collymore."

His jaw dropped, and his face was red. He didn't say anything before jogging out of the room.

"What happened?" My dad asked.

"I bet he's going to fix his hair," I said, shaking my head with a goofy grin

About ten minutes went by, and my parents and I were catching up a little. I told them how I was going to college soon and mainly how Jeena's parents have helped raise me since I met her. My adoptive parents didn't like me sneaking out to sleepover at her house. I told her I'd introduce all of them when we got out of here.

George came back in, and his hair was clearly fixed up and looked more presentable, which he didn't need to do anyway. He stuck his hand out. "Pleasure to meet you both."

"Don't touch my hands! I'll take them off in a minute." George said.

He told me he had a surprise for me, and I really wasn't sure what it could've been. Whatever it was, we had to drive to it.

"You're making me nervous," I said.

"Don't be." I felt his lips kiss my neck; it tickled.

"Okay," he said. "Are you ready?"

"Yes!" I yelled. "Please take your hands off."

"Alright, alright," he counted down from three like a goof, making me even more anxious.

When his hands lifted from my eyes, I had to blink a few times to clear my vision.

And my face lit up with happiness.

It was the apartment we both picked out, already furnished.

I walked around the place, checking out every room. And our bedroom was beautiful.

I ran back out and jumped into his arms. "You did it! You got the place!"

"Our place." He kissed me. "This is our home now. I don't know if you saw, but there's even an office that either of us can use. I'll mainly be in there for songwriting."

"Thank you so much, George," I said. "You make my life so much better."

He brushed my cheek. "I love you."

I put my hand on top it'll of his. "I love you."

That night, George and I invited our friends and family to continue making my parents feel welcome. We asked Jeena, her parents (Mary and Rick), Jimmy, Andrew, and of course, my mom and dad.

I mainly watched everyone laugh and get along. I was so happy my life was finally getting back to normal, and my real mom and dad would be a part of it now. I was so excited to get our relationship back on track.

As for my foster parents, I had them and my "brother" arrested. I pressed charges on them as soon as I was asked.

On my last day in the hospital, they had asked me about them. A few detectives and police did. They told me that they were behind all of this chaos. (Which I already knew) They were there originally because they had asked to see me. I told the men I never wanted to see my foster family's faces again.

And so they made sure of that.

Although, I had been wondering recently why my parents were taken before I was. Did my foster parents know my mom and dad?

Did they take them to make it easier to get to me? Why would they have waited so long? To make it less suspicious?

"Hey Deej, you want some chips?"

"Sure." I took one from the bowl Jeena was handing to me.

George sat down next to me on the floor. "I'm so happy to have you back." He pulled my side In and began kissing me a bunch. I couldn't help but giggle since it tickled so much.

"You guys have a beautiful place." My mom said to George and I.

"Thanks, mom," I said. "How have you guys been doing getting back to your old life?"

"Great, actually." My dad chimed in. "We've been making a lot of money. We went back to working with insurance and managed to get all of our IDs and stuff renewed. You should've seen the faces of everyone when they saw the last time we did that."

They were looking much healthier. They were less thin, and the color on their faces was much less pale.

Jeena and I's parents were getting along super well. It was exciting to have them talk finally.

Jeena scooted over and whispered to me. "Are you guys getting it on tonight?"

I shook my head, laughing. "George had been waiting for me to "recover"."

"That's lame." She said. "Do your magic. Make him crazy."

"Oh, I will. It's been almost a month since I've been back and longer since we've done it. But I appreciate that he wants to take the time to make sure I'm emotionally and physically ready for that again." I said. I lay my head on his shoulder, thankful he didn't hear the conversation.

Jimmy did.

He was very shaken up when I saw him again. He was so afraid he wouldn't get a chance to tell me how sorry he was for everything he did. He didn't cry, but he was distraught. I hugged him and said to him that everything would be okay, and I put it in the past.

"Hey Deej," Jimmy had an evil look in his eyes.

Oh boy.

"Remember that time you slept with me?"

I winced. Of course, he would do that. What should I expect from him?

I was so scared to look at George. I didn't want to know what he was doing.

But I knew something was coming when he yanked his arm away from me. "You... you did
what?"

Jeena was fuming. "You fuckin' prick!" She screamed at her bother. "Why would you do that? You know how crappy that is to do to someone!"

"When we're you gonna tell me?" George asked.

"I... George, not now-"

"When?" I knew there was no point in trying to get him to simmer down now.

My face was beat red. I didn't want to do this while we had company, but here we are. "I was going to at some point!"

"I guess we're both bad people, huh? I knew you had something going on with him!"

"I did it after I left you for cheating on me!" I yelled in his face. "There's a difference. You hooked up with some chick while we were in a relationship. I wasn't with you when Careless Whisper came out, was I?"

I was sobbing, and I couldn't stop. The entire room was silent, and I knew everyone was staring at me. Some of them may have been glaring at George, but I had my hands over my face while I wept. I didn't want anyone to see the shame on my face.

It felt like hours had passed, but it was only a few seconds later when I felt arms wrap around me. I knew it was George. I could smell him even with a running nose. "Hey..." he squeezed me tight, putting one hand on the back of my head. "That wasn't fair. I'm sorry... you've gone through a lot already. I should give you a break. You don't have to talk about it. I'm sorry, babe."

He kissed my forehead and waited until I was okay again. I realized how exhausted I was and decided to call it a night. "It's getting late. I think you all should go home. Thanks for coming."

Everyone said their awkward goodbyes. I didn't dare even look at Jimmy.

When everybody left, I went straight to our room and sat down on the bed. It was huge and must've been a king. I looked around at the warm lighting illuminating from the two small lights on either side of the wall. It was calming, and I almost fell asleep with my clothes on. But George came in and lied down next to me, pulling me close. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine." I stood up to go to the bathroom. I didn't forgive him all the way yet, but I knew by tomorrow morning, I'd be okay, and I'd remember how much I loved waking up to his pretty face.

When I came back out, his shirt was off, and I noticed a fireplace in our room.

I hadn't realized that before. Quite sexy, if you ask me.

But when I got into bed and George took me in his arms, my heart fluttered. I turned over and nuzzled my nose into his.

October 2nd, 1984

The following day I was, in fact all over him, even before I left for school. We decided after I got home from my classes today, we'd stay in and order pizza or something.

When I did come home, he welcomed me with open arms as if it was my first day all over again. "How was today?" He asked.

Later that night, I found him in his office writing in the same notebook he always had.

"What are you working on?" I asked, leaning on the door frame.

He looked up and turned to face me. "A song, like always. Don't look at it, though."

"Is it the same one you were writing that one day I asked you about it?" I asked, staying far away so my eyes couldn't scan the pages.

"Nope." He smirked at me and winked. "I'm saving that one for later. This one will come out sooner. I'm not sure when, though."

"Do you have a title for it?" I asked

He nodded and closed the book. "Three words," He seemed determined about what he was writing and had a massive smile on his face. He stood up and put his arms around me.

"I'm Your Man."
