Chapter 50

As Jenna made her way down the castle and entered the kitchen as a random student, she transformed back to her own form, looking around for Mickey.

After reading Sirius's silly 'hint' as to where he was currently hiding, Jenna's first thought was at their own little house they had moved in together. But she then remembered that it had actually happened at the Potter Manor.

It had been the summer before their sixth year and Jenna'd been sleeping in her bed, shirtless. She couldn't even remember why Sirius had sneaked into her room that night, seeing as it had happened around seventeen years ago. All she could remember was that Sirius had come in her room in the middle of the night to tell her something, only to find her shirtless, creating a big panic between the both of them.

This meant that Sirius was currently awaiting her at Jenna's childhood home, so she could join him and they could leave the country for some while, as far away from the dementors as possible. Or at least, for some while.

The moment Jenna transformed back to herself in the kitchen, she heard a loud squeal and saw a house elf running toward her.

"Oh, my Lady Jenna! What can old Mickey do for you?" The little house elf bowed his head deeply.

Jenna smiled, getting on her knees to level up with him more. "Mickey, I was wondering if I could ask you for a big favor."

"Anything for my Mistress!" Mickey squealed happily, his large eyes twinkling under the dim kitchen light.

So Jenna lowered her voice into a whisper so only he could hear her, and said, "I want you to go the Potter Manor. Sirius is currently there and he probably won't have anything to eat —"

"Th-the Potter M-manor?" Mickey repeated, and then he suddenly burst into tears. "Oh, my old Master and Mistress... how much Mickey misses them... and young Master James too!"

"Shh, Mickey, it's all right," Jenna tried to say comfortingly, but her voice was muffled by the loud cries of the house elf.

Mickey then sniffed, trying to wipe his tears away. "But Mickey has got his little Mistress Jenna back." He smiled, reaching out his tiny wrinkly hand and placing it softly on Jenna's cheek. "My little saint... oh, how much you have grown..."

Jenna chuckled, watching him. She couldn't help but to be reminded of her old times with James, as they would cause trouble around the house day and night, and Mickey would still call them his little angels.

"Mickey will go back there as asked and serve Master Black, if that's what my Mistress wishes." He bowed down once more, this time his long nose almost reaching the floor.

"Thank you, Mickey." Jenna gave him an appreciating nod, and so the next moment, the house elf disappeared out of sight and vanished into thin air.

As the end of term arrived, the students went back to the Hogwarts Express and boarded the train. Crookshanks laid in her basket as Hermione carried her into one of the compartments with Harry and Ron, and sat Crookshanks's basket beside her.

Jenna had been thinking for a long time, and she realized that the best time to get away and go to Sirius was when she had arrived at Hermione's house.

She obviously couldn't Apparate inside the walls of Hogwarts and she couldn't do it in her cat form either. So she had to wait until Hermione was asleep, so Jenna could transform back to human form, sneak out of her house, and then Disapparate to the Potter Manor.

"Oh, cheer up, Harry!" said Hermione sadly when she saw him watching Hogwarts disappear as the Hogwarts Express pulled out of the station.

"I'm okay," said Harry quickly. "Just thinking about the holidays."

Hermione then started opening Crookshanks's basket and so she got out, stretching, and seated herself beside her.

"Yeah, I've been thinking about them too," said Ron. "Harry, you've got to come and stay with us. I'll fix it up with Mum and Dad, then I'll call you. I know how to use a fellytone now —"

"A telephone, Ron," said Hermione. "Honestly, you should take Muggle Studies next year..."

Ron ignored her.

Jenna wanted to smile to herself, only if she could. This reminded her of herself and Lily, that Christmas when Jenna had gone to stay with the Evans family.

"It's the Quidditch World Cup this summer! How about it, Harry?" said Ron excitedly. "Come and stay, and we'll go and see it! Dad can usually get tickets from work."

This proposal had the effect of cheering Harry up a great deal. But before he could answer, Hermione suddenly said,

"Harry," she started, peering over his shoulder. "What's that thing outside your window?"

They all turned to look outside. It was a tiny owl, carrying a letter that was much too big for it. Harry quickly pulled down the window, stretched out his arm, and caught it. It felt like a very fluffy Snitch.

He brought it carefully inside. The owl dropped its letter onto Harry's seat and began zooming around their compartment, apparently very pleased with itself for accomplishing its task.

Hedwig clicked her beak with a sort of dignified disapproval. Crookshanks then sat up in her seat, following the owl with her great yellow eyes. Ron, noticing this, snatched the owl safely out of harm's way.

Harry picked up the letter. It was addressed to him. He ripped open the letter, and shouted, "It's from Sirius!"

Jenna's attention was caught by these words and she turned to look at them.

"What?" said Ron and Hermione excitedly. "Read it aloud!"

Dear Harry,

I hope this finds you before you reach your aunt and uncle. I don't know whether they're used to owl post.

Buckbeak and I are in hiding. I won't tell you where, in case this owl falls into the wrong hands.

There is something I never got around to telling you during our brief meeting. It was I who sent you the Firebolt —

"Ha!" said Hermione triumphantly. "See! I told you it was from him!"

"Yes, but he hadn't jinxed it, had he?" said Ron. "Ouch!" The tiny owl, now hooting happily in his hand, had nibbled one of his fingers in what it seemed to think was an affectionate way.

Crookshanks took the order to the Owl Office for me. I used your name but told them to take the gold from my own Gringotts vault. Please consider it as thirteen birthdays' worth of presents from your godfather.

And your godmother, of course, Jenna thought to herself as Harry went on reading the letter aloud.

I would also like to apologize for the fright I think I gave you that night last year when you left your uncle's house. I had only hoped to get a glimpse of you before starting my journey north, but I think the sight of me alarmed you.

I am enclosing something else for you, which I think will make your next year at Hogwarts more enjoyable.

If ever you need me, send word. Your owl will find me.

I'll write again soon.
Sirius

Harry looked eagerly inside the envelope. There was another piece of parchment in there. He read it through quickly and felt suddenly as warm and contented as though he'd swallowed a bottle of hot butterbeer in one gulp.

I, Sirius Black, Harry Potter's godfather, hereby give him permission to visit Hogsmeade on weekends.
