Chapter 5
"Okay, so why did the Cheshire Cat leave Wonderland?" Dean asked.
"To leave is to walk away with intent. And to be pulled away, I call kidnapping. But what is it called when I am pulled away and then left alone?"
"I don't think there is a word for that." Sam said as he shifted his weight between his feet.
"Well, either way, I believe that the white rabbit couldn't take losing to me in poker for the millionth time. He just doesn't know how to handle his potato chips, and he blames me for it every time!" Y/n rambled.
"So the white rabbit makes you jump from Wonderland to Earth because he lost at a poker game? Really?" Dean asked, finding the whole situation unbelievable.
"You have a vendetta against acquaintances and people with skin who like to walk, and you think my poker game isn't reason for revenge?" Sam laughed dryly and leaned against the dresser across from the female.
"No, we just don't often come across someone who doesn't want to kill or get revenge."
"Why would I want revenge? What happened in the past has passed and we are present. We are differently bonkers on each new day." Y/n caught a glimpse of Sam beginning to smile before he straightened back to stoic expression.
"And how do we know you are telling the truth?" Dean interrupted.
"How do you know anything at all? It goes through noise or inscriptions into the void to be taken into the mind and understood, so how we do know anything at all? How do we know unless we experience, and if you do experience, you do not experience everything of the experience, so what is the objective truth?"
"Again I will pretend that you did not just break my brain and continue. How do we know that your intentions are good and you do not intend to betray or harm us?" Dean sighed and rubbed his hand over his face.
"I take it you do not like my true answers, but I will give an answer you would actually accept. I would not put you in harm because, why would I want you to be harmed? We have just met and I know nothing of you, and you nothing of me. I trusted you to place a gun to my head and a blade to my neck, and if I wanted to harm you, I would have done it, and not allowed you to put my life in danger first."
As Y/n was speaking, she got to her feet then did a sort of ballerina hop. Instead of landing back on the ground, the female bent her knees to sit on her legs whilst floating in the air.
"So say we believe you, and say you didn't follow us, why did you decide to appear in our car specifically?" Sam inquired.
"You may not know this, but I am quite aware of the people around me, and you two appeared to be the most interesting. This cat takes as many chances as she can to learn the madness of the world. So what makes you so interesting?" Y/n took her turn to ask her own question.
"Hunters." Dean replied bluntly.
"Hunters?!" She gasped before continuing, "Why the last time I came across a hunter, they found me much more amusing to hunt than the jabberwocky."
"Heh, no, we hunt monsters." Sam attempted to correct her.
"Like the Jabberwocky? Or the Bandersnatch!" Y/n exclaimed loudly, her eyes glittering happily.
"Um, no, more like demons, vampires, werewolves, and witches." Sam sighed.
"Hm... I've never heard of those before but they sound absolutely kooky!" She began to giggle to herself maniacally, so the brothers took their chance to discuss while the female was distracted.
"You think she's telling the truth?" Dean whispered to his brother.
"Well, she has had good reasoning." Sam proposed.
"Yeah, but why here and now? It feels suspicious." Dean refuted.
"Suspicious, are we? You question the cat who is quite capricious. You search for consistency in a creature you now learn to have existency." The brothers jump when Y/n appears in between the two boys, her shoulders pressed against the chests of the boys. She made no eye contact with them, but instead stared straight ahead, lips forming a mischievous grin.
Dean stepped away and grabbed Sam by the arm, pulling him away from the female so that they could continue their conversation. He told Y/n to stay where she was as he dragged Sam to the opposite side of the motel room.
"We should take her to Bobby." Sam suggested, taking Dean off guard.
"What?!"
"I'm just saying that she has abilities that could come in good use, and we can learn more about Wonderland. If we take her to Bobby, we can look through his books and the lore and if we think we found something about Wonderland, we can run it by her to weed out fact from fiction."
"Just an hour ago we thought Wonderland was fiction, and now you want to invite the person who claims to be one of the most powerful Wonderland characters, back to Bobby?!" Dean began to yell but he almost immediately quieted his voice to a whisper. Sam opened his mouth then closed it again, unable to find the right words to support his claim.
"I have become quite invested, and I agree with what Sam has suggested." The female spoke, catching the Winchester's attention once again. "You know not my intentions, but I know of a way to release the tensions." She ended her sentence, making Sam and Dean stare at her, waiting for her to fill them in on her train of thought.
"And?" Sam demanded.
"And, take me to this so-called Bobby of yours, and around Wonderland I will give you tours. I will assist where you need, but before I bleed, you should know I am a pacifist, but also a strategist." Y/n divulged.
"Okay, could you quit it with the rhymes!" Dean snapped, losing his temper. Y/n rolled her eyes and dramatically fell back to float in the air, stomach side up.
Y/n continued to explain to the brothers that she was no soldier but an ally. She does not put herself on the front lines, but will participate in the back lines as defense and support. Dean groaned, reluctant to trust the human cat for even a second.
"We still have a case to take care of, so until we gank this witch, she is not coming to Bobby's house. We will discuss this later." Dean told his brother before asking what Sammy had learned while Dean was in the shower. Sam hesitated, letting his mind register Dean's decision, then strode to his laptop.
"Um, well I checked the criminal records of Henry and his ex-wife Anna, and I hacked into Anna's facebook. November 12, Henry came home from work to find his wife Anna in bed with her co-worker, Lyle Marsh. Criminal reports claim that Henry threatened Lyle with a large knife before throwing a vase at the wall. Some glass of the vase hit their daughter Mary, whom Henry thought was still with Anna's sister." Sam reviewed what he found.
"Okay, and?" Dean crossed his arms over his chest.
"And, I did some digging on Anna and Lyle and came up with nothing, so I looked at the son, Mason. I know, he's just a kid, but get this, his kindergarten teacher works part time with an internship at Anna's company, and her bank records show that in the past few months, she has bought an alter, a few candles, a 'Witchery For Dummies' book, and a few small animals, whose bones could"
"Be used in a hex bag." Dean finished Sam's sentence. "Let's gank this bitch before she tries to teach her students to be a demon's slut." Dean grabbed his duffel bag of a variety of weapons, and was about to step out of the door, only to run right into the h/c haired female.
"You leave me here, curiosity killed the cat, take me with you, and satisfaction will bring it back." Y/n said mischievously.
"That's not what the saying means." Sam chastised, only to have the female appear next to him and slap his forehead using her paw-turned-hand.
