Chapter 8
Sam sleepily waddled from the bathroom to the kitchen. Barely being able to keep his eyes open, Sam placed a pot in the coffee maker as he used his other hand to rub his eyes in an attempt to clear his vision. As soon as the coffee was brewed, Sam poured a cup for himself and took a seat at the dining table to search for a new case. The tall Winchester stops in his tracks when he finds a pink and purple feline sleeping on the table.
Sam furrowed his eyebrows and continued to approach the table. The sound of the coffee cup being sat on the table is what caused Y/n to stir. Y/n let out a quiet mew as she began to stand, then stretching and yawning at the same time.
"Morning." Sam greeted her with a forced, closed mouth smile directed at the cat. Y/n slightly opened her mouth and meowed, which sounded similar to a greeting. Sam appeared shocked to hear that Y/n could communicate in cat form, but quickly dismissed it as he had remembered her doing the same thing when she met Castiel.
"Why are you sleeping out here?" Sam asked as he pulled his lap top closer to himself.
"Where else am I to sleep? I felt you and Dean would not have liked me to lay in your bed and your bags were on the couch." Y/n responded, her body slowly morphing in the figure of a woman. Sam nodded in understanding, taking a mental note to leave room for the female.
Sam then turned his attention to the screen of his laptop, and Y/n took that as her cue to approach the fridge to search for some type of breakfast.
Just a few hours later, Dean finally woke up. Dean gave his greeting and took a seat across from Sam, placing his cup of coffee and plate of toast on the table.
"Any cases?" Dean asked his brother.
"Uh, yeah. Get this, in Omaha, Nebraska, Bethany Williams was stabbed to death by her boyfriend Joshua Peters. Josh was reported leaving their shared apartment at around 8pm Thursday night to a bar about a mile away. Their neighbor says that at midnight she heard screaming coming from the victim's apartment, and when the police arrived they found Bethany dead and Joshua sitting in a pool of Bethany's blood, refusing to speak." Sam said as he slid his lap top closer to Dean.
"Okay?" Dean questioned, unsure why Sam thought this was their kind of case.
"This is the third case like this in the past week." Sam added. Dean nodded in understanding as he read the reports that Sam had pulled up on his computer screen. Dean suddenly paused to ask Sam about the cryptic female's whereabouts. Sam's eyebrows raised in realization as his eyes scanned the motel room.
"No need to worry." Y/n's voice echoed, drawing the brother's attention to her human figure sitting on top of the fridge. "I was only taking a cat nap on Sam's bed. Oh, and Sam, you may want to wash your pillowcase, it may or may not be covered in cat hair." Y/n said cheekily, causing Sam to groan, and Dean to laugh.
"Well, get packed up. We got a case!" Dean announced, moving towards his duffel bag. Y/n glanced around before teleporting onto the table, a large childish grin adorning her facial features.
"I'm packed!" She giggled. Sam let out an airy laugh, shaking his head with a grin. He took his leave to his bed to collect his things for the case. "Okay.... I'll just wait here." Y/n called out awkwardly before she got distracted by a random reflection of light shining on the ground.
About ten hours later, Y/n was sat in the back of the impala, tossing out her psychologically riddled ideas and questions that continued to confuse the Winchester brothers. Dean let out a sigh of relief when he steered the car to park in the lot of their destination, happy to finally no longer be stuck in the small car with the enigmatic woman.
Dean got out of the car, with Sam and Y/n following suit. The brothers were adorned in their professional looking suits that helped give the idea of being FBI. About an hour before, they had made a pit stop at a clothes store to find an outfit for Y/n instead of her day to day outfit which could in no way help her to pass off as an FBI agent. Y/n was now wearing black, professional looking pants, a white blouse, and black boots as they were the only professional looking shoe that Y/n would settle with.
Y/n stood up straight, obviously unhappy to be wearing uncomfortable clothes and having to walk instead of fly as she normally would, though still adorning her signature grin.
"Remind me why we are here? People die, it is what they do, what has given you the clue, that someone needs you two to defend their lives?" Y/n asked.
"Because, people deserve full lives. And besides, we don't want evil people succeeding." Dean half-heartedly explained. Y/n remained silent as she waited for Sam and Dean to grab their FBI badges, and Y/n's new badge.
The brothers walked side by side to the police station, y/n following behind them, obviously not used to the feeling of shoes as she kept wobbling and walking like a dog with booties on. Dean glanced back at the female to see her strange movements, rolled his eyes, grabbed her arm, and dragged her along, not wanting attention to be drawn to her.
Inside the police station, the three were approached by a middle aged looking man in a police uniform. The man greeted the three and asked about their reasoning for being there.
"FBI Agents Perry and Collins." Dean introduced himself and his brother, before glancing back at Y/n. "And Agent Lewis. We are here about the three murders in the past week." The officer nodded, choosing not to ask Dean why the FBI took interest in the cases. Dean asked the officer to take the three fake agents to Joshua Peters, to which the officer complied.
