Chapter 12 - She Finds Toby
"Get over here, you big goof!" Clockwork had pronounced loudly, quickly scooting down the slight hill from the road and extending out her arms.
"Clockwork!"
The hug was deep and clingy, both laughing and chuckling as they met up once again with each other.
"What are... are you doing - whooop - here?" Toby asked, fingers digging into her shoulder as he pulled away. "I can't believe I'm seeing you ah - ah - ah - again!"
"I know, it's been what, four years?" She said, hands on his. "I've been worried sick about you! You suddenly stopped killing people and didn't even send me any messages."
Toby snorted at her statement, his shoulder jutting out a few times. "Yeah, sorry, just... just was on the run from Slenderman, you know? I can't stay in one place for too... too long or you know, he'll find me, haha." He rubbed the back of his shoulder, smile still eagerly clinging to his face. "I was going to see if I can talk to you again but you know, it's - whoop, whooooop - hard to try and find other CreepyPasta when I'm too busy watching out for my own ass."
"You're ticking a lot man."
"Because I'm excited to see... see you!" Toby pressed his hands together, almost as if he'd lose his sense of grounding from just how ecstatic they both were to meet again. "You can't just jump into my life suddenly and not - weeeeep - expect me to freak out with fucking joy!"
"Well, I'm glad I found ya, didn't really anticipate finding you on uh... this day," Clockwork said, averting her eyes. "But it was the quickest I could go out on a ride with my motorcycle since I know Jane wouldn't be cool with me wasting days to come get you on foot. You know how Jane is. Doesn't like you much."
"Would would like the ex boyfriend of their... their date? I wouldn't," Toby snickered.
"Eh, you still got it." She ruffled his hair, ever so proud as to finally find him. Moving back slightly to let his shoulder jerk out again. "How have you been holding up, since the uh... the event?"
"It's ah... it's been decent. You know. Run... running and running away from Slenderman and the other - wooop - proxies," Toby said, "Not only that but I'm also running from you know who."
Ugh. Clockwork grimaced. "He's still being weird?"
"It's gotten worse. I tried to see if he was doing better a couple -" Toby's mouth clicked a few times, "- of months ago but he's officially gone crazy. So I'm running from... from him too, now."
"Yikes."
"Ye... yeah, yikes."
Clockwork couldn't help but feel bad for the poor fellow. Not his fault that happened. But he wasn't very stable after it did. Started going crazy.
"So why'd you come find... find me?" Toby finally asked, glancing over. "It wouldn't - woooop - be just because I went dry on the news."
"Well, that was the original reason I have been keeping an eye out for you," Clockwork said, "But I decided to come find you after something happened."
"Is everything o... okay?"
Toby looked ever so worried that Clockwork quickly stuck out her hands to calm him. "No, no, quite the opposite actually! I don't think you've heard about it since you've sorta stopped being a CreepyPasta, but there's a CreepyPasta sanctuary now."
"Sanctuary?"
He tilted his head to the side. Clockwork chuckled, flicking some of his fluffy brown hair. If only she wasn't a hardcore lesbian. Their relationship was doomed from the start. Both thought they were straight when they entered it. What a foolish idea.
"Some guy decided to open up his house for serial killers to crash. I know you're trying to reform yourself, so I figured I'd let you know. I'm staying there now. He's the reason I have a safe place to work on my bike." She jerked her thumb over her shoulder to point at it. "So I wanted to get you in the mix."
"You tracked me down just to... to offer me that?" Toby asked.
"Kinda, yeah. It'd make me feel better if you got a permanent place to stay that's safe.
Clockwork moved too sit onto a nearby log, crossing her legs. She wasn't afraid to admit she was extremely worried for her old boyfriend. Being a run away, ex CreepyPasta meant he was fair prey to both the Police and other CreepyPasta. Especially since he didn't have any weird powers like Ben, or no intense strength like Jane. He was just a human who wasn't welcome anywhere.
"I know you offered for me to stay in the houses you stay in with Jane and Zero, but I already - whooooop - told you I don't want to be involved with CreepyPasta at all anymore. I'm trying to distance myself from them, and I can't associate with you guys - fuck - anymore."
"I know, but there aren't just CreepyPasta living with us. The dude who's taking us all in is a normal monster who doesn't really kill. And we also have a baby in the house that's not a CreepyPasta, either."
Toby frowned, glancing away to think for a moment. He silently moved to sit down next to the one eyed girl, hands gently crossing on his lap. It was a nice night. Not too windy, not too warm or cold despite the month.
"I'm not asking only for you. Sorry. I'm being selfish here," Clockwork said, "I'm asking because I want to make sure you're safe. And I'd feel better if I could watch you be safe. Just for a bit. Until you can get onto your feet again."
"Sure."
"I know - wait what?"
Clockwork jerked her head back to Toby after his reply, caught off guard by the confirmation. He gave her a smile, the scar on the side of his face stretching slightly with the movement.
"I'm not going to stay stubborn, I'm on the run, I -" He suddenly clapped a few times. "- Almost got killed like seven times, I have no stable place... place to stay, so of course I'll go. To check it out, at the very least. And if it makes you feel better, yeah."
"Oh thank you, man, you won't regret it," Clockwork said, "I think you'll even like the guy who runs the place. Let's go!"

After a failed attempt of trying to get it going with Jane and Laughing Jack, Sans ended up on the couch with the big clown, cuddling up to the taller man as they ate ice cream mixed with wine and watched the Office. Carefully, he scooped the best chunk of ice cream he could, and held it up to Laughing Jack's mouth. He bit down and giggled at Sans, quickly swallowing to cuddle up with him. Bean, in her baby seat, babbled as she played with the sloth plush Sans provided her.
"Every time you tell me another story about Issac, I wanna go back in time and beat him up," Sans said.
Seriously, fuck Issac. Who could hurt Laughing Jack? Sure, he seemed terrifying at first, but now he was just cute and cuddly. With that goofy smile of his, cute cheeks meant to be pinched, and those clawed hands that always made sure to hold his own so gently.
"Well, you don't have to, he was actually beaten up once," Laughing Jack said with a grin. "One day he came home from school with several bruises and a bloody nose. It was after he made me kill that cat. I think it was the neighbors kid."
"Good, he got what he deserved," Sans said, patting his chest. "And I..."
He glanced away. Wow. Laughing Jack really got him all blushy and mushy now. The moment he heard what Laughing Jack saw, his soul dropped. And now, holding him this close, Sans realized something he didn't want to admit out loud.
Because the thought of Laughing Jack holding any expression other than a smile was terrifying. And that feeling opened to reveal something underneath.
Their sex wasn't amazing. Frankly, since the car, they haven't had it again. And they weren't always on the same page. Laughing Jack was always willing to suddenly go on a killing spree while Sans had to tell him not to. And it was difficult to date someone who was a serial killer in general.
But he was cute. Had a nice smile. Could go on a rant about different candy flavors, best gutting techniques, and Sans found himself listening despite the weird ass content of his speech. He was always so careful with Sans, and was terrified of possibly hurting him despite knowing he wasn't going to try to.
"Hm?"
That cemented it. The thought. The way Laughing Jack looked down with a slightly cocked head, practically towering over Sans yet still having those oversized gray eyes that looked more like a cats than a humans. Like he could be pet at any moment and start purring. His large hands, with sharp claws that could probably cut through bone holding Sans so tenderly.
"I... nevermind! Nevermind!" Sans jerked his head away, now bright blue and burning to the touch. He awkwardly moved off of his boyfriends lap and scooted away. "Nevermind! Let's just eat! Then I need'a go do... something. Yeah."
In that moment, something that never happened before happened.
A single thought flashed through his mind, bright and real. Too real. Too true for Sans to handle it.
'I think I love him.'
