Chapter 13 - Toby Has Joined Your Party!

Now, Toby trusted Clockwork. Why wouldn't he? They were together through so much, she was practically a sister to him. It was a serious shame that neither of them were remotely straight. But after years of being together, surviving the cruel world, seeing a hellish sight on a particular Valentines Day, he knew her pretty well. Trusted his life to her and her alone.

But entering this house made him question his trust of her. Just a little bit.

What the hell did he walk into?

Clockwork had promised several things as they approached. The monster that took them in was nice. That they got homemade meals because Jeff took up cooking, though Toby was uncertain about that. Seriously? Jeff the Killer as a chef? Please. She reassured him that it was actually quite nice there. He was skeptical, but she was Clockwork, and he trusted her.

When they arrived, the front door practically slammed open in front of his face. Toby and Clockwork had to both jump out of the way, and someone he never wanted to see was standing at the door. Tall, towering over the two with a cold, almost terrifying expression.

"You." His eyes narrowed, pupils narrowing at Toby.

"I -" Toby snapped his head towards Clockwork. "You didn't tell me Laughing fucking Jack was - was here!"

"I forgot you two have a history, uh... whoops," Clockwork said, chuckling nervously. She clapped her hands together. "But Jack, he's no longer -"

"Yeah, I know. I heard from my box. Toby left. But he still put me in the god damn box. By association." Laughing Jack narrowed his eyes at Toby. "I don't like you."

Okay, this was terrifying. Laughing Jack lived here. Outside of his box. In the open. Free to roam. Laughing fucking Jack. One of the few people able to counter Slenderman. And he was just... here? Why was Clockwork okay with this? She knew how deadly he was!

"What are you doing here? Is Sans with you? You aren't Sans." Laughing Jack pushed the two aside, glancing behind them as if they were hiding something behind him. "You came up to the house and you didn't even bring Sans?"

"Sans isn't here?" Clockwork asked.

"No. He left. I hoped you guys were him. But you brought this thing here..."

To emphasize his annoyance of the situation, Laughing Jack gestured to Toby. Toby glanced away, fingers tapping together by his side. Clockwork was going to have some explaining to do.

"Is Sans okay?" Clockwork asked.

"Yes, he just suddenly decided to go on a bonding trip with Bean and I think he's mad at me," He muttered, "I think it's because I didn't have sex with him."

"... Wh.. what?" Toby eyed Clockwork with an expression purely of 'What the fuck'.

"What are you still doing here?" Laughing Jack asked Toby.

"He's moving in for a bit," Clockwork explained. She peeked in past Laughing Jack. "I know he's not a Creepypasta anymore but you know Sans probably won't care."

"No, I won't know because he isn't here right now and what am I supposed to do without Sans?" Laughing Jack huffed but pulled away from the door nevertheless, looking very annoyed and very terrifying. "And little Beanie isn't even here so I'm bored."

Toby felt his shoulder jerk out as he stepped inside of the house, eyes trained on Clockwork to see if she was absolutely certain about living with a creature like that. Toby only saw Laughing Jack once before, and it was a horrific sight. Dripping with blood, a big grin spread onto his face as he waltzed up to Slenderman. Even now, when Toby looked at the clown, that image still rang throughout his mind. His muscles felt tense, body aching to run and run far.

The moment they were inside Laughing Jack closed the door, before settling onto the ground with crossed legs. Only a foot away from the door. Just... staring at it.

"He does that every time Sans and Bean aren't home," Clockwork explained, "Usually Sans just takes him along but the few times Laughing Jack had to stay home this happened."

He was sitting like this just to wait for someone?

Laughing Jack. The man who could rival Slenderman. Who murdered hundreds of people. Who was strong, terrifying, and probably couldn't die. Was now the same person who was sitting on the ground in front of a door just for the chance to see someone a little bit sooner. Like a lovesick puppy.

"Sans is his boyfriend," Clockwork whispered to Toby.

"Boy - boy -" He caught himself before he continued a stutter loop, barely able to process what he just heard.

Someone looked at that man - a tall clown, a psychopath, a man who should not ever be allowed out of his box again - and decided to date that. Decided to date him. Somehow.

Toby took a moment to glance around, brown eyes sweeping across the house. It was in one of those family neighborhoods, where every single family had the same colored home, same shaped backyard, and same typical outlook on life. Along with that one neighbor who was weird or crazy and freaked them all out. Toby was guessing this was that one neighbors house. Especially considering the owner saw Laughing Jack and decided he was somehow dateable.

It was big. From what he could tell so far, he was guessing four or five bedrooms. An office to his right. A kitchen ahead. The air smelled like candy and... bleach. Distant, but there. A faint tic could be heard from upstairs, and if he tilted his head, he could see up the stairs and down the hall to a Grandfather clock.

"Here, I'll take you to my room," Clockwork said, moving towards the stairs. "I share it with my girlfriends. I'll let you stay there until Sans gets home so we can see if you get a room or not."

"It's not certain y... yet?" Toby asked, leaning forward. "Clockwork!"

"It probably is certain, he just isn't here to confirm it," Clockwork said with a nervous chuckle. "So everything's alright."

"You jumped - feck - into a decision again," Toby said, an eyebrow arching. "Remember how that went last time?"

"Shut up," She said, "It was only one forest fire!"

"Just one?"

"Shut it."

The rooms they passed all looked the same. No labels or markings on the doors. However, at one of those blank doors Clockwork paused before deciding to stop.

"Might as well start introducing you to everyone if you are going to stay here," Clockwork said with a shrug. She reached forward and knocked on the door. "Hey, Jack, we have someone new. Come say hi!"

Toby silently went over the name as his head rolled slightly to the side, right eye twitching. Jack...? Wasn't he just downstairs?

"Another Jack, we have two of them," She explained.

They stood in silence for a moment. With an annoyed huff, she leaned forward and knocked on the door again.

It took a moment, but soon soft footsteps could be heard, and the door unlocked and creaked open ever so slightly. Black, dripping eyes peeked out from behind the crack, gray skin beaded with sweat.

"I told everyone I'm going to be... busy tonight and for the next few days," He huffed, "Really busy. Why are you bothering me?"

"We have someone new coming in and -"

"Okay."

Before Clockwork could even finish, the 'Jack' cut her off with a single word before quickly retreating back into his room and shutting himself behind the door once more. A soft tick of a lock could be heard moments later. They stood in silence for another moment, staring at the door, before Toby's mouth clicked a few times.

So far he met someone who should not be allowed to roam about and met someone else who completely just ignored him.

He eyed Clockwork, who looked a bit confused over the whole meeting. "Okay, yeah, he doesn't usually act like that, I guess he was serious earlier when he said he wanted some alone time," She muttered, "Oh well."

"I know not a lot of CreepyPasta are going to like me because of how I disowned the name, so maybe it'd be better if I didn't just barge into one - one of the few safe places they have?" Toby offered, leaning forward slightly as he held his arms.

"What? I don't think he hates you, he's just been off since this morning," Clockwork said,
"Suddenly stockpiled organs in his room - I think he just has a bad history with Valentines day as well."

"He's a CreepyPasta. Who - erk - doesn't?"

It was understood amongst all CreepyPasta that feelings like trust and love were few and far in between. Your dating pool would take a huge hit when you were a serial killer. Holidays were easily hated by CreepyPasta because of what they represented. Why celebrate anything when it was just a reminder of how life would never be the same anymore?

That's why, when CreepyPasta got any hint of love or affection, they held it close and cherished it. Clockwork will always be his best friend. He loved her. Not romantically, but it was definitely love. So that was why, even though this was very awkward so far, he wasn't going to ditch the idea and run so quickly. Because Clockwork wanted him here, god damn it, so he was going to be here. Especially since now he knows she lives with fucking Laughing Jack and he's now deeply worried for her safety.

"How are you so calm about living with Laughing... Laughing Jack?" Toby asked. "He's... you know, he's fucking - woooop - crazy."

"Well, yeah, but so is Zero," Clockwork said with a nonchalant shrug.

"He's crazier."

"Eh, yeah, but he's got a leash now."

Toby blinked. "A le... leash?"

"Yeah. You know the typical romance story. A trapped, poor lonely soul is saved by another and falls head over heels for him." Clockwork walked forward in the hallway, bringing Toby to what he presumed was her room, swinging it open with a glance over her shoulder. "Except he's a crazy killer bastard and the love is way more intense. But it's still real love, ain't it? Sans is super witty, Jane's into him now. She's even recently started doing that little eyebrow thing."

"The eyebrow thing? Is he - fuck - that attractive?" Toby asked.

The 'eyebrow thing' was something he knew quite well. When Jane was starting to get attracted to Clockwork, she'd always lift up an eyebrow slightly whenever she was hitting on someone and was looking for their reaction. It wasn't very noticeable, but Clockwork had practically latched onto that fact when she was having her little gay panic moments and immediately rushed to tell him when she figured out what it meant. Once you saw it, it stuck.

But this random stranger not only got Laughing Jack practically leashed, but he also has Jane interested in him. How did he even...

Toby's hand rotated around as they walked into Clockwork's room. Easy to tell she was sharing it with her girlfriends. Jane's had a desk full of makeup, Zero had her corner of random shiny things she liked to play with, and there were several random tools and toolboxes just thrown about as tripping hazards.

"I guess. I don't see it though," Clockwork hummed.

"You're a lesbian, Clockie."

"Just because I can't order and find the food good doesn't mean I can't read the menu, Toby." She sat down onto her bed with her arms crossed.

He joined her. It was a surprisingly nice bed. He didn't expect for them to get such personal rooms. When Clockwork mentioned someone was hiding them, he anticipated them all being cramped aside into some basement at the slight risk of someone driving by and looking in through their windows.

They got their own room. With freedom to fill it with whatever they wanted.

Everything was way too... chill. Calm. It felt weird. Like he was moving into some sort of dorm instead of a serial killer safety net.

"How did you even end up - fuck - here?" Toby asked.

Clockwork chuckled. "So, it started when Jane managed to get Smile Dog run over by a car..."

~~~~~~
The skeleton was cupping a child that looked like a small fusion between him and Laughing Jack when he walked in. And Toby knew instantly it was their kid.
Laughing Jack - may he emphasis, Laughing Jack - had a child. A kid. Little Jack. Jack 2.0. How did they even...
"Alright, yer new," The skeleton had said, slightly cocking an eye socket in the form of a confused stare.
"I brought him, his name's Toby," Clockwork explained, raising her hand to slightly draw attention to herself. She gestured towards Toby, almost as if presenting him. "You mind?"
"Nah, it's fine, ya at least told me instead of finding him in my kitchen," He had said, waving his free hand absentmindedly. His eye lights flickered around, looking at Toby briefly as if rather uninterested. "Yeah, okay. Where's Jack? I teleported up to our room but he wasn't there."
"Oh, he's waiting by the front door," Clockwork said, nonchalantly. Toby was still trying to process that this little skeleton was dating the clown downstairs. His friend only gave a little grin as she pointed over her shoulder. "Did you know he does that every time you leave? He teleports away when he hears you pull in but he's always there."
Holy shit, this guy was whipped.
A blush grew onto his face as he quickly averted his eye lights, a squeak escaping his mouth. He cupped his daughter slightly closer to his chest, before nodding to himself. "Okay, okay... you guys are going to have to leave."
Toby blinked. "What?" His shoulder jerked out again slightly.
"I'm going to have a talk with Jack, I think I um... love him. For real." Sans ran a hand down the side of his face. "So shoo."
~~~~~~

Jack was very happy to see Sans. Eagerly bouncing up to him when he walked up, grasping onto his hand and smiling that smile that warmed Sans' soul.

"Sansy, my little potato, I missed you! Where's Bean?" He asked.

Sans didn't say anything. Not until he teleported them both upstairs to their bed, plopping himself down onto Laughing Jack's lap. He grabbed that weird cloth thing around the clowns neck and pulled it, looking up at his boyfriends surprised face.

"You can't just - just - how dare you make me fall in love with you? Of all people in the world!" Sans said, lightly tilting his chin. "Un-fucking-fair, Jackie. You owe me one."

There was a brief pause, before Laughing Jack smiled, big and wide. "You love me? Love love me?"

"Yeah, I uh... I do. I really do. You big goofball." He averted his gaze. "And you have to make it up to me. Since this emotion is weird and complicated and I'm not used to it."

Sans wasn't really sure what he was expecting Laughing Jack to do. But he needed him to do something. Because it felt weird, needing someone so desperately, to want to hold them and kiss them and just... stay in his arms.

He really just needed him now. In a way he's never needed anyone before. It was difficult to admit. And it was much more difficult to look at someone and say love. Say need. To admit that he couldn't live a life without the man before him, because it'd never be the same anymore. The world was a dark and poisonous place and now that Sans had a taste of fresh air in the form of Jack, he was addicted.

"Are you okay? You look sad, little potato."

Sans hummed, ducking his head between Laughing Jack's head and shoulder, playing with the monochrome feathers. They ruffled between his fingertips, soft and plush. "I dunno. It's just... a lot. This is the first time I've loved someone romantically. I don't know how you managed to do it without freaking out or going crazy."

"It is hard. I just wanna kidnap you away to my little world and give you everything you deserve." Laughing Jack cupped Sans' cheeks, bring their faces close together. "If you wanted me to I would. I'd be fine staying in my box if it was with you and Bean."

Sans chuckled. "Nah, I'd get way too lazy and Bean would only have one parent. Yer can spoil me in other ways."

"How so?"

Sans glanced up. For a moment. One look into those grey eyes and he was already interested in whatever Laughing Jack wanted to do.

"Honestly, I thought I wanted sex but... can we just cuddle? Maybe make out a bit?" He paused. "Or a lot?"

Laughing Jack only giggled before leaning in with a small kiss. Of course he gave Sans everything he wanted.
