Chapter 25 - A Night To Remember
Baby?
No. Alright.
Sans was a little bit too excited about the possibility of another baby. Don't get him wrong, he adored Bean and her cute little quirks. But when he had always envisioned his future, he always hoped for a decently sized family. Multiple dates, multiple children. Two would be ideal. Three if he was maybe feeling a little more confident.
Pregnancies for skeletons could take a few days to show. But Sans was too excited for that. Now he stood in the downstairs bathroom, holding up his shirt occasionally to see if it took hold yet. Souls usually could take a few days to develop. Depended on a lot of factors Sans didn't know. Too much technical, magic shit.
Hopefully, Bean was doing fine. The problem with living with so many people was that he wasn't exactly confident in having sex underneath their noses. The idea of any of them walking in was kind of terrifying. So he had them all go out to the park with Bean so he didn't have to worry about that. They were serial killers, they could handle one single baby.
Though, looking at his phone, it was riddled with text messages. Laughing Jack scared everyone shitless halfway through the day when he showed up. Bean was very upset to be away from the house and Sans and ended up teleporting away several times. Best to not push his luck for a bit with her for the next few days. She's been doing somewhat good with teleporting.
This would probably be the last kid Sans had, then. Maybe one more a few years down the line. When Bean was older and a little bit more independent. And when this kid he was hopefully going to have soon wasn't just a baby.
Hopefully, this kid didn't have teleportation magic. That would be rather... difficult. To deal with. Having one kid who could appear and disappear at will was going to be hell to parent. Having two was a death sentence.
Still no baby soul in his ribcage. Seeing that he might be wasting the night away at this point, he huffed, shuffling back into the kitchen as he returned to his phone to give the all-clear for everyone to return. Just once they found Bean. Again.
And, as he typed, he made sure to summon up his magic and drag the soul of the stranger hiding in the shadows forward.
Sans still hadn't had the chance to train his magic yet. But he was getting better at noticing people lingering near him. Including that stranger that followed him and Jane the other day before randomly dipping, and the stranger that now stood in his kitchen.
"You're fast," They hummed.
"You're like, what, the third person who's broken into my house and hung out in my kitchen." Sans paused, recounting in his head. Sally, Ben, and Jeff. "No, fourth. Kitchens are a popular spot for people who break in apparently. It's... weird."
There the stranger stood. Long black hair hanging from underneath a grey hat. Glowing yellow eyes stared at Sans as similarly glowing teeth tilted into a slight grin. Despite that grin, his hands couldn't seem to keep fully still. As if expecting Sans to do something else. Sans huffed, quietly checking over the man for any weapons before he let go of his magic. Jane was a call away. Laughing Jack would be here any minute.
"I'm not here to stay for long. I'm here to come and get you," The stranger said. He wiggled his fingers, leaning back and forth on his feet. "So, I'll just be quick about this. I need you to come with me."
Sans blinked. "Come with you? Yeah, sure. Just let me go get my pants and pull on my bullshit hat. You didn't give me any reason to and last time I followed someone who asked me to follow them I ended up getting fucked sore as a result."
Too much information. But Sans was tired, had a long day of activities, and didn't want to deal with another new CreepyPasta right now. He barely just got the hang of Eyeless Jack and Toby, if he kept taking them in at this rate he'd barely know anyone in his house. Couldn't get to know so many people. And also, he was possibly pregnant and didn't want to risk anything happening to that. This time wasn't the best. Maybe in a few days. But right now? Sans really couldn't deal with it. Things were just getting under control again.
"Oh, I don't think you understand. Here."
The man fumbled through his pockets for a moment, causing Sans to take a step back and eye his movement. After a moment, the man's shoulders slightly perked when he found his treasure, proceeding to outhold a single folded picture towards Sans.
"I think you should see this," He said, gesturing for Sans to take it. "I'll convince you otherwise."
Sans huffed, and quickly snagged the picture. If it was revenge porn he was going to fucking -
Oh.
"You're using my fucking kid as blackmail?" Sans hissed, looking up from the picture of Bean with a knife tilted to the side. The tone was clear.
"Yes. Basically. Come with me or she'll die. I don't want to kill a kid either, so it'd be easier on both of us if you come along."
He's going to kill this bastard. Sans never felt the urge to snap out and punch someone like this before. He actually wanted to throw something and scream. He fucking got Bean! What the fuck, what the fuck. His kids a hostage. Bean is in danger and it's Sans' fault and -
"Hey, hey, dude. Just come with me. I won't kill her if you do. You'll get to see her right away. I just needed to make sure you came with me." The man outheld his hands, noticing that the skeleton was glaring and shaking a little bit.
Sans felt like he was going to throw up now.
"That picture is to prove she's alright. She's fine. Once you come with me you'll get her back. I swear. As I said, I don't wanna kill a kid either."
"But you will if I don't - I... fuck. Fuck." Sans sucked in a breath, looking down at the picture again. He seriously felt like he was going to vomit. He thought it'd be fine to let the others watch Bean. Thought it'd be fine if her Dads weren't around. She handled it before. His friends handled it before.
Sans seriously felt like he was going to throw up. His hands tightened around the photograph, and his soul started to pound in his ribcage.
What should he do? Call Jane? Just attack this guy himself? But he wouldn't know where Bean was, and for all he knew this guy had an accomplice to kill little helpless Bean if something happened to him. Sans couldn't risk it.
"Fine, fine, I'll go with you! Please - don't hurt her." Sans said, voice strained. "Please."
"I won't. Here."
And out of a pocket the man failed to explore before, he carefully went in and plucked out a single, short rose. One without thorns and carefully wrapped by a thin, white napkin. Sans didn't even know how to react to that. He was going to punch this guy the first chance he had.
"Hold onto that for a moment. I'll explain in a bit." Seeing Sans' expression, he huffed. "And no, I'm not hitting on you. I'm straight. Take the damn rose."
Skeletal fingers reached out because Sans didn't have much of a choice for anything right now. The only thing speaking louder in his head about the power he didn't have in this situation was his anxiety. The thing that made him forget that Jane was right upstairs, or that his friends would soon realize they couldn't find Bean and text him to see if she managed to teleport all the way home.
Then everything went quiet. Very, very quiet. His mind seemed to shut off, and Sans stood there, the anxiety that screamed inside of his head moments ago becoming nothing but a silent, distant hum.
"This just makes it easier to transport people. You have no idea how difficult it is to carry someone a long distance when they're trying to escape every five minutes."
Without any warning, he picked up Sans and hung him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Sans hung there, arms limp as he absentmindedly blinked. Trying to think only made his mind fuzzier and the world a little bit more distant. So he let himself be picked up, finding no will or reason to question anything around him.
Guess he was going somewhere.

Jane smoothed out the now made bed, taking a step back from the freshly washed sheets and ironed-out blanket. She didn't have to, but she did make a mess of Sans' bed after he cleaned it the other day, so she figured she might as well make it up to him. Especially when he got that big smile on his face for his ability to now consistently keep his room clean.
Yup. Turns out Sans wasn't a horrible slob incapable of cleanliness like he thought of himself before, turns out he was just deeply depressed for most of his life. However, away from toxic relationships and in a new environment, he was thriving. Able to communicate his feelings, clean to the best of his ability, and was starting a family. It was nice to see him grow.
And, hopefully, see their family grow.
She smiled gently, folding a pillow against her chest. She never did think it'd happen. Jane had no want to become pregnant herself and neither of her girlfriends wanted to, either. And she didn't think she'd grow to like Sans as much as she did. When she first met him, she thought he was simple. Some skeleton who had bad friends. She didn't realize the complexity of his past, how funny he could be when he was feeling confident, or how cute he looked when he'd slouch in a seat with his usual wide grin and snuggle into his hoodie.
So yes, she was rather excited about the possible baby they were having. If tonight was successful, she was going to be ecstatic. Hopefully, they look a little bit like Sans and her. His cuteness and her hotness would make for a strong face.
And, hopefully, they didn't get her hatred. That would... not be a good thing.
Clockwork was on the phone when Jane saw the buzzing object. Her icon, with no picture, lit up. She didn't dare risk the picture. And her nickname was simple. Nothing to connect the phone to a serial killer if stolen.
"So?" Clockwork hummed.
"So?" Jane repeated.
"How'd it go? Baby time?"
Jane laughed. Oh, she was cute. "No, we don't know yet. Sans said it can take a few days to show. When are you guys going to get back?"
"After a bit. Bean kept teleporting away and she kept finding better hiding spots. We've been looking for a good amount of time now. Smile Dog's starting to get worried."
"Why don't you guys have Laughing Jack with you? I thought he'd be the best at finding her," Jane said, pressing the phone between her shoulder and ear as she folded the last remaining blanket.
"He... he is here. I'm looking at him. He's looking with us too."
Jane paused. Her eyes narrowed. "I thought I heard him and San talking downstairs. I thought he came home early... He never left?"
"No. We've been looking for Bean for a while now. Jack hasn't left the whole time."
Sans was definitely talking to someone downstairs moments ago, though. She thought it was Laughing Jack. It sounded like his voice.
"Sans?" Jane shouted, making a quick sprint towards the door. She paused at the opening for a moment, waiting for a response. When none was delivered, she made her way down the stairs, bare feet dragging across the kitchen floor where she finally stopped.
Sans wasn't here. No. Instead, a single window hung open, with the once drawn curtains fluttering in the wind. And a single picture dropped onto the floor, slightly crumbled near the edge. When she looked at it, she silently swore, tugging the phone closer to her ear.
"Get back here, all of you, fucking now." She tore open a nearby drawer and picked out several knives before she perched on the window still, phone pressed against her shoulder and ear, glaring out around her to see if there was any trail. Her hair swept up in the breeze, brushing across her focused gaze. "I'm going to try and track them. Someone took Sans and used Bean as a hostage."
