Chapter 84
AN: I know, I know. I said this was going to be the epilogue but it wasn't working out at all. So sorry for the late chapter as well 😭.

Serena Mclane's P. O. V
I swear, men never learn from their mistakes.
Damien sits besides me with a sulky frown on his face, eyes glaring at the wall and avoiding eye contact with anybody that tries to get his attention.
I clear my throat for the third time in five minutes but the man is prone to selective hearing as he simply ignores me. I glance at Greg only to find him shifting uncomfortably from one foot to the other before looking at Damien, only to turn back away to look at the floor.
"Damien!" I utter out through clenched teeth as I poke his side but I get a childish huff in return as he crosses his arms over his chest but then lets out a groan as his sling gets in the way. Muttering out a curse word, he frowns some more before finally giving me his attention.
"You both need to stop acting like two year olds and speak like grown men that you both claim to be because I swear to God!" Standing up, I point a finger at the two of them who guilty look away.
Rolling my eyes, I let out my own sound of indignation as I make a move to turn away.
Ever since we left Italy five days ago, the two men have been avoiding each other like the plague. Their loved up moment seemed to be a thing of the past as Damien regained his senses only to be as grumpy as ever. He wouldn't even talk to anyone for the first day, well other then me.
"To be fair-"
"To be fair what Gregory?" Damien cuts in, voice clipped as he tugs at the material of the sling like he has been ever since he's gotten it. I gently smack his hand away and throw him a glare, not bothering to verbally say anything since he always seems to ignore my scoldings anyways.
"I might just lock the both of you up in an empty room and not let you out until the both of you behave like rational human beings!" I say once more and harshen my glare up a notch as the two men roll their eyes.
Grumbling under my breath, I do the one thing I know will sort them out. Unfortunately I only found out about this tactic a few days ago just as we arrived but now that I know of it, I shall use it to my hearts content.
Lets see how Damien likes this.
**********
Humming lightly to myself, I place a few fresh flowers into a vase and smile jubilantly as I place them on the mantle. The vibrant lilies brightening up the place in an instance. Combating quite nicely against the childish attitudes the two idiots currently effuse.
Turning around, I dismiss Damien's raised eyebrow and before I can even think of doing anything else, a light chime goes off signifying that someone has arrived at the door.
"Ah I wonder who that could be." I can tell my act is anything but convincing as Greg lets out a little huff while Damien eyes me steadily.
Hurrying to the door, relief floods out of me and a bright smile crosses my face as I greet the beautiful woman at the door.
Brown hair cascading down hair back in gentle waves as her tall frame easily towers over mine. Giving me a tight hug, the woman steps back and smiles at me, crinkles by her eyes forming as she pecks me on the cheek and steps back, placing both hands on my shoulders.
"Oh how I've missed you." She coos as she wraps me in a hug once more.
"We met yesterday Katelyn," I joke as I step to the side and usher her in.
The silence in the living room seems to have increased ten fold as our footsteps are the only things that make noise in the large house. Meeting eyes with Damien, I let a smug smile erupt on my face as his own turns completely blank before a shadow of uncertainty erupts.
"What have I been hearing about you two?" The woman besides me tsks, tone amused but stern at the same time.
Damien gulps and seems to snap out of whatever trance he's been trapped in as he immediately stands up and hurries over to us, giving the woman a tight hug.
"What brings you here mother?"
A slight smack resounds through the room and Damien winces as he rubs the back of his head, scowling and taking a step back.
Greg now stands with a smug smirk and too hurries to hug Katelyn who has a deep frown on his face.
"Hey Mrs. K."
Katelyn rolls her eyes but I can tell she's thrilled to meet Greg after a long time as she pulls him into a deep hug before pushing him away and pinches his cheeks.
"You stopped visiting!" She accuses as she wags a finger in the air at a sheepish looking Greg who merely shrugs.
After the greetings settle down, Damien seems to go back to his usual scowling face as he sits in the chair next to me, Katelyn sitting opposite us with a warm cup of tea in hand.
"Now you listen here young man." She begins but stops as Damien leans forward.
"I know what you're here for," a flat look gets passed my way, "But I have nothing to say. Greg was the one who lied and still hasn't given us a proper explanation."
Katelyn bites on her lip as she cocks her head to the side in deep thought.
My eyes go from her and then to Damien. A smile sliding on to my face as I realise that's where he gets his little quirk from. Even though I feel annoyed at the man besides me, I can't help myself as I grasp onto his cold hand and lean into him. Loving the way Damien relaxes his tense muscles against me and allows me to lie my head on his shoulder. Pressing a light kiss to my forehead.
"Greg-" Damien tries to start off where he left off but his mother interrupts.
"Come on now Damien. I didn't raise you to be like this." She scolds as she eyes the two of us, "We both know that Greg isn't the smartest man- no offence- but it isn't his fault either."
"What do you mean?" I speak up, making Damien nod his head in agreement as if he were about to ask the same thing.
Katelyn turns to us with a frown on her face before looking at Greg and pointing a finger between the three of us.
"You haven't told them."
It's more of an outright statement then a question.
Katelyn lets out a sigh as she raises her hand to her forehead and messages it gently, trying to get rid of her stress lines.
"Serena I thought you would have spoken to your father about this by now," she pauses momentarily as she glances at all of our faces. I bite on my lip as I think for a moment at her words.
My father did try to get in contact with me these last few days but I was too busy spending all my time and energy on helping Damien out with whatever I could. Especially now that he's hurt his arm.
Greg looks down sheepishly at my inquiring look and gently nudged Katelyn to continue as he fidgets in his seat uncomfortably, "It came more than a shock to me when I found everything out but your father was the one who came up with the entire plan. It is much to detailed for me to go into and Roger is the one who you should be really asking but don't blame the poor boy," Katelyn smiles as she pinches Greg's cheek,
"What?" Damien asks in alarm, sitting up alertly as Greg shrugs carefree.
"It's true. Roger thought that it would be a good idea to have someone on the 'inside' and since I'm the perfect candidate for the job with my great acting skills and what not. It payed off. Also you not knowing was a bonus since it was more convincible." Greg adds in at Damien's half hearted glares.
Damien chews on his lower lip before letting out a sigh, I know for a fact a little part of him was hesitant and weary about Greg just in case he did turn out to be on Arturo's side. I'm sure a conversation with my father is due in a short while to get everything out in the clear. Judging from Damien's relaxed stature I can tell at least no friendship has been damaged.
"Well alright then," I mumble, cutting the awkward silence, "Would you like to have something to eat?" I ask like the gracious host I am.
"I don't mind staying for dinner." Greg pipes up.
"I wasn't asking you." I say with a huff as I stand up, causing Katelyn to smile and politely nod.
"I'd love to help but I was wondering on something." She hesitantly says as she stands up.
"What would that be Mum?" Damien enquiries as he throws his good arm over my shoulder.
"Well since I know that Serena now knows why you got engaged to her. As do I know as well. I was just wondering what the exact situation is between the two of you."
I freeze for a split second, my mind on overdrive trying to figure out what to say as I've been trying to push this out of my head ever since Damien's words to me in the hospital.
But he was drugged up. I shouldn't dwell on it too much.
Damien tightens his arm around me and smiles softly as he catches my gaze. "I actually have been meaning to talk to you about this." He says lowly. We both ignore the slight squeal that erupts from the two people in the room as I'm completely absorbed by his intense gaze.
However Damien is very much aware as he gets up, "Let's speak in private for a moment."
I barely understand what's happening as he pulls me out of the room and down the hall into his study, closing the door behind us. Even locking it for good measure.
"I haven't really prepared anything which I feel really quite guilty for but I really haven't had time and on top of that everything has just been very-"
I shush Damien quickly with a gentle peck to his lips causing a smile to erupt and him to calm down.
"Say what you need to say." I encourage, already having a feeling of what he's about to say.
It doesn't lessen the nerves racing through me as he runs a hand through his hair.
"I've decided- well actually not decided since you have a choice to- I'm not making a decision for you I'm just saying that-"
"Damien for them love of God just say what you want to." I say with humour in my voice.
Taking in a deep breath, he nods once more, "I'd like to be properly engaged. Like engaged to be married. Like I want a future with you. I want you in my life. With like a marriage and you having my last name.Even children would be good. Not too many though, unless you want like ten. That's up to you since you'll be doing all of the hard work. I mean not any pressure but I really like the Eliana. And even a boy would be great-"
Cutting his ramblings off for the fifth time, I lunge at him and make him take a few steps back in shock as he wraps his arms around me, holding me securely as I hug him tightly.
"I'd love to. I'd love to. I'd love to." I say repeatedly, catching the gorgeous smile on his face as he leans down to peck me on the lips.
"I thought it'd take you a while to process everything." He admits as his blue eyes speaker in delight. Unable to help myself, I give him a chaste kiss on the lips and try to pull back but Damien doesn't like it as he picks me up into his arms, causing me to wrap my legs around him.
"You might have- sort of- confessed you'd like to be engaged to me 'for realsies' when you were in the hospital."
The look of dread that crosses his face makes me giggle.
"What the fuck!" He spits out in shock while I try to hold my laughter in as much as possible, "I actually said for realises didn't I?"
This time I actually do laugh and grin as I pull him to me, ignoring his grumbling and smash our lips together. Enjoying the way he responds to me.
He pulls away and lets out a groan before letting me go and marching to the door. Damien puts a fake scowl on his face as he unlocks the door and opens it.
A sheepish Katelyn and Greg stumbling into the room.
Before Damien and I can say anything, the two cop in delight and grab us both into hugs. Whispering their congratulations.
"And here I thought my idiotic son would never fall in love." Katelyn jokes.
Greg lets out a snort and crosses his arms, "Trust me, he's been a lot more loving lately."
Damien narrows his eyes and takes a hesitant step back, "What do you mean?"
Greg smirks and throws an arm around his shoulder, "Let me tell you a story my young lover."
I let out a gentle laugh and sigh.
Who would have thought the day would come.
Walking out of the study behind Katelyn , I hear a gasp leave Damien's lips as he turns a pale looking colour.
"I did not!" He hisses.
"You did baby boy." Greg says with a proud grin, Damien looking as if he's about to murder someone while the rest of us let out a laugh.
Somethings never change.

AN: Hey everyone! I'm so sorry for this not being the epilogue but I wrote out the entire chapter only to realise that it just wasn't working out well. I'm not sure why but this week has been really busy and draining so I hope you can understand. The epilogue will be coming much sooner then this chapter and I do apologise once again! I feel guilty since it's also a filler.
Question: What would you like to see in the epilogue?
Question 2: Would you like bonus chapters as well?
Thank you so much to @PriyankaG24 for the cover above! It's beautiful.
