Erik's manager lady-whose-name-I-forgot walked into the living room and spoke to us. "Welcome dancers. I hope you enjoyed your rooms and that you have looked at our living space for the next 2 weeks." She smiled and clasped her hands together in what looked like fake excitement.

"Now that most of you have situated in your bedrooms, it's time we do some icebreakers." Two girls and Darius groaned in annoyance. "C'mon, it's not that bad," she answered.

"Actually, it is. It's childish and boring. I told you not to treat them like kids," A boy with dark brown hair and fair skin (who I presume is Erik by the way he just talked to the woman in charge here) said. "It's so they can connect and learn more about each other. Every dancer knows they need to connect to be good." She replied in a hushed voice.

They spoke softly while I glanced at Darius who shrugged. Erik pushed her away and told us to wait there, like we had somewhere else to be. He came back so quick and brought in a deck of cards. Erik placed the deck on the coffee table and said, "Now, my manager says we should 'connect' and why not do it with a game. Who likes the game Uno?" I came to the coffee table along with 3 other girls.

The dirty blonde girl said, "I freaking love this game! Me and my friends would play this all the time during study hall at school. We got so loud sometimes." She laughed at herself, probably remembering her good times during Uno games. "Well," I said, cracking my knuckles, "you haven't met the master at Uno." Blondie rolled her eyes and said, "Pfft. Okaayyy, mister. We'll see about that."

The girl with tan skin was on her phone still and the other boy said quietly, "I...uh...don't know how to play." The dirty blonde haired girl gave him a weird look and responded to him, "I have never met anyone who hasn't played Uno before. Well don't worry, it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it." She moved herself next to him and explained t he rules to him as Erik was passing out the cards.

I grabbed my seven cards close to my chest, being the competitive person that I am, I didn't want anyone to see. The game was slow at first, with most people putting down regular cards, but when Darius pulled a +4 on the short black girl, it was heating up. People were yelling card colors, stacking +2's, changing the color left and right. Erik, Darius, the black girl whose name I forgot, and I tried teaming up on the shy kid from before. He yelled out the first "uno" and was able to get away clean because he had a change-the-color card.

Darius threw his cards down and yelled, "Damn it!" He only had two cards left and was looking for the win. "Nice game everyone," Erik said. "I'm getting a little hungry, does anyone wanna eat something?"
Most of us nodded our heads, except for the tan girl that was talking to her friends on the phone the whole game. "I was thinking that we could explore the town tomorrow before we start dancing together. So we could get to know each other better. Does that sound like a good idea?" We nodded again in approval.

"Great. I'm so glad your on board. What do you guys wanna eat?" The little black girl bit her lip in wonder as the girl to the left of me stated, "I'm really in the mood for some Mexican." Most of us didn't care about what we ate so we agreed. "Ok, I'll take you guys to the Chipotle right around the corner." We grabbed our wallets and bags and headed down to the streets of LA.
