Chapter 59

•Edited•

~Sirius~

Peter seemed like the best choice.

Nobody would expect it.

I was the obvious choice, so if they found out we used a Fidelius Charm, than they would go for me.

It seemed like the perfect plan.

That was until October 31st.

"Claire I really feel like I should check on them. See if the new Secret-Keeper needs help," I stated.

It was weird not telling Claire about Peter. But nobody could know about this.

"Sirius please. It's almost ten. Nobody's going to be up now," Claire groaned.

Ignoring her, I pulled on my black leather jacket.

"Sirius Black! Do not walk out that door!" Claire yelled as I went to open the door.
"I will be back in an hour. I promise," I said, pecking her lips.
"Sirius! I don't feel good about this!" Claire cried, grabbing my hand to keep me from leaving.
"I'm not a child Claire! I know how to protect myself!" I exclaimed.
"I know you do Sirius but that doesn't mean I'm not scared!" Claire yelled.

Our lips met, moving in sync.

"I love you Claire. And I will see you later tonight," I smiled.
"I love you too," Claire grumbled.
"I'll be back," I reassured her.
"You better. Our anniversary is tomorrow, I expect you to be here for it," Claire stated.
"And I will," I said, kissing her one more time.

Walking out of the house, I got on my motorbike.

Godric's Hollow wasn't to far. Of course I only knew to go to Godric's Hollow because Peter had told me. But it was more than shocking when I found half of their house blown off.

My eyes widened, tears welling up in them.

Please be okay. Please be okay.

I pushed the front door open, a sob escaping my lips as my eyes landed on James's body.

His wand was nowhere to be seen. His eyes open, lips parted. Still.

The tears rolled down my cheeks.

A cry echoed around what remained of the house, bringing me back to reality.

Running up the stairs, I followed the cry to Harry's nursery.

There lay Lily, right in front of Harry's crib. And in that crib was Harry. Alive?

"H-Harry?" I spoke, confusion laced in my voice.

Blood tripled from his forehead, where a bright red scar shaped like a lightning bolt lay.

Picking the boy up, I held him closely, childishly sobbing.

"Sirius? Yer shouldn'ta be here," Hagrid's gruff voice stated.

Spinning around, Hagrid stood feet away from me, an umbrella in his hand.

"Hagrid? What do you mean?" I questioned.
"Lemme take 'em," Hagrid spoke, holding his hands out.
"Give Harry to me, Hagrid, I'm his godfather, I'll look after him. Just let me keep him," I sighed, holding him closer.
"Dumbledore' givin' me stric' orders," Hagrid said firmly.

Reluctantly, I handed him over.

"What's Dumbledore going to do?" I asked.
"Nothin' ter worry bou'," Hagrid said.

I didn't trust Hagrid a second, but I knew he was loyal to Dumbledore. And as much as I thought Dumbledore was an idiot, he only wants the best for Harry.

"Okay, but take my motorbike," I nodded.

I passed James and Lily's bodies with tears rolling down my cheeks.

By the time I was walking down the streets, the sun was rising.

Was I there that long?

Then a thought occurred to me.

How did Voldemort find them?
Only one person could tell him.

Peter. And there was only one place he'd be.

Filled with rage. I ran all the way to an abandoned street, where sure enough, Peter was waiting.

"You coward Peter! You killed James and Lily!" I cried.

Peter simply glared.

"How dare you Sirius!" Peter screamed as loud as he possibly could.

Muggles appeared all around us, trying to see what the commotion was.

"Lily and James, Sirius! How could you?" Peter was sobbing, though his nose was bright red. A sign he was lying or faking something.

I pulled my wand out, prepared to hex him, when a loud bang sounded. The whole street exploded. A crater lay in the middle of the street, so deep it had cracked the sewer.

The sewer where a rat was scurrying off to.

Looking around, I realized Peter wasn't there anymore.

He was the rat.

"You coward!" I laughed.

Soon Fudge, Junior Minister in the Department of Magical Catastrophes, appeared.

I hadn't even noticed him in the middle of all my laughter until my hands were being cuffed behind me.

"What? Wait no! It wasn't me!" I exclaimed frantically.
"I'd advise you stop talking Black."

~Claire~

November 2nd.

November 2nd and Sirius still wasn't back.

And because of this stupid Charm, I couldn't leave my own house.

But that was only a problem an hour ago.

Before I received a copy of the Daily Prophet.

James and Lily Potter found dead.
Murdered by You-Know-Who.

Front page that got.

Next page?

Sirius Black. Imprisoned for the murder of twelve muggles and Peter Pettigrew.

James, Lily, and Peter, all dead.

Sirius imprisoned.

It took me barely a second to know Sirius was framed. I knew he wouldn't do this.

But that didn't mean he wasn't in Azkaban.

I had been sobbing for the past hour.
For the loss of three of my friends. For the fact that I'm never going to see my husband again.

Then the doorbell rang.

I stood from where I had curled up on the floor, The Daily Prophet clutched in my hand.

With a shaky hand, I opened the door. Revealing my bloodshot eyes and tearstained cheeks to Albus Dumbledore.

"Clairesse," Albus sighed.
"Why the bloody hell are you just now getting here?! I've been sitting here for two days! Worried sick about the whereabouts of my husband! And then I find out he's in Azkaban, not from you, but from the Daily Prophet!" I screamed, all anger I felt falling from my mouth.
"Where is Scarlett?" Albus questioned, looking around before coming inside. Completely ignoring everything I just said.
"She's asleep, now answer me!" I exclaimed.
"I've been trying to make sure Harry is safe with the Dursleys," Albus said simply.
"The Dursleys?! You bloody put him with the Dursleys?! If James and Lily wanted Harry to go to those foul people they would've made them godparents! But they made me godmother! I want my godson!" I screeched.
"I can't do that Clairesse," Albus sighed.
"And why not?!" I demanded.
"Because you're to distraught to raise two kids," Albus explained easily.

I pursed my lips after failing to find an excuse.

"Okay. Why is my husband in Azkaban?" I growled.

I had a big urge to start crying again, but I held it back as best as I could.

"He killed thirteen people, Claire," Albus spoke.
"So I've heard. I know that's not what happened though," I said through gritted teeth.
"That is what appears to have happened," Albus nodded.
"Did you check his latest spell? Did you use Veritaserum? Did you ask him?" I questioned.
"No Clairesse-"
"Why do you keep calling me that?!" I snapped.

Ignoring me, he continued, "we do not need anymore proof than what we have."
"And what's that?" I inquired.
"Witnesses," Albus replied.
"You mean Muggle witnesses who probably think two guys got sticks and waved them at each other until one of them threw a bomb?!" I roared, rage filling me.
"Clairesse we can't do anything-"

I groaned loudly, pulling at my hair.

"I'm never going to see my husband again because a bunch of idiots were to stupid to check his last spell, or to maybe give him a trial!!" I yelled.
"Clairesse, you could try and do something, but they're not going to believe the murderers wife," Albus raised his voice slightly.

I didn't respond to that.

"I came here to talk about something else," Albus stated. He took my silence as a sign to continue, "you are required to divorce Sirius."

"EXCUSE ME?!" I roared, very much similar to a lion.
"Clairesse you must!" Albus yelled.
"You will not tell me what to do!" I spat.
"Clairesse if you don't divorce him then you will struggle to get a job. People will see that you are married to him and immediately turn you down," Albus tried to explain.
"I could care less about that Albus! I will not divorce him because he was accused of murder! I love him! I loved him yesterday, I love him now, and I will love him tomorrow! You will not stop that!" I scowled.

Albus seemed to be having an internal battle with himself.

"Fine. You will legally be married to him, but you must pretend you aren't," Albus stated.
"Okay," I nodded.
"You can not wear your rings," I removed my engagement ring and wedding band, "you will go by your maiden name, as will Scarlett. No one will know that Sirius is Scarlett's father. Not even Scarlett-"
"What?!" I interrupted.
"She can't know. Now, the only people who will know of your marriage with Sirius will be the Ministry, anyone who you're trying to get to hire you, anyone who originally knew, and myself," Albus explained.
"Scarlett needs to know!" I exclaimed.
"She can't," Albus denied.
"I'm her mother, that's not your decision to make. Actually! None of this is your decision! It's my life!" I yelled.
"Clairesse, you could end up in Azkaban with Sirius-"
"At least I'd be with-"
"And Scarlett would go to a different family."

I stopped talking. Pursing my lips once more.

"You will follow these instructions. Understood?" Albus questioned.
"Can I tell one person all of this?" I asked.
"If I know who it is, and it's not Scarlett," Albus agreed.
"Remus."
"Done."

I knew it was a crazy decision after the accusations Remus had placed upon me. But he was the only friend I had left.

"Sirius will be told that you actually divorced him tomorrow," Albus stated.
"What?! No! You'd break his heart!" I exclaimed.
"Unless he is the murderer. Then he won't show the slightest emotion," Albus said.
"Why can't he know it's fake?" I questioned.
"Because if he knew it was fake, then he would have an emotion to be happy about. That'll make the dementors affect him more," Albus explained.
"Okay fine. But do you have to do it tomorrow? It's his birthday tomorrow," I sighed.
"I'm sorry, it has to be tomorrow."

Albus flicked his wand, removing the Charm that kept me inside and with a pop, he was gone.

I spent the whole night on Sirius's side of the bed. Heaving with sobs.

I'm never going to see him again.

DUN DUN DUN!!!

It's pretty much over now! Just the Epilogue is left! Ugh!

Anyway! Part four of It's Christmas Eve and WeasleyGirl is Motivated!

I'm kind of mad at myself. I've been planning this chapter for so long, and I was so excited to end the story, I just kind of rushed it. Sorry?

Well I hope you're all having a very merry day!
