Chapter 38

•This story takes scenes from the Harry Potter series. I want to make it clear that I don't own those scenes. That's owned by
J.K. Rowling. Thank you•

~Scarlett~

Fred and I followed behind George, fingers intertwined.

"Did she say why we were needed?" I questioned, swinging our hands back and forth.

"Nope," George replies from in front of us. "Just said she needed you and Hermione."

I was beyond confused, but nodded along anyway. We were on our way to the library — our first idea of where Hermione could be — and we were proven correct when we heard voices behind a bookshelf.

"Oh this is no use. Who on earth wants to make their nose hair grow into ringlets?" We heard Hermione sigh frustratedly.

"I wouldn't mind," Fred said, making his presence known. "Be a talking point, wouldn't it?"

George and I both laughed, but Hermione remained frustrated. I noticed Ron and Harry sitting by her, finding Fred's comment amusing as well.

"What're you three doing here?" Ron questioned after calming himself down.

"Looking for Hermione," said George. "McGonagall wants her and Scarlett."

"Why?" Hermione asked, looking surprised.

"Dunno...she was looking a bit grim, though," Fred said.

"We're suppose to take you down to her office," George added.

"I'll meet you back in the Common Room," Hermione told Ron and Harry. "Bring as many of these books as you can, okay?"

"Right," said Harry uneasily.

This time Fred and I led the way to McGonagall's office, George and Hermione falling behind.

"Must you be all cozy while we're watching?" George groaned as Fred slung his arm around my shoulders, pulling me into him.

Fred paused in the middle of the hall and dipped me, pulling me back up and into a kiss. George groaned and Hermione cooed. My cheeks flushed but I ignored it and grinned sheepishly at the two.

"We really should get going," Hermione said after a moment.

We all nodded and continued walking. Once we got there McGonagall dismissed Fred and George and then it was just Hermione and I.

"You asked for us, Professor?" Hermione squeaked, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"Yes, Ms. Granger." McGonagall nodded, leaning forward on her arms. "As you both know, the second task is tomorrow and you both are required in it."

"Wait what? Why?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Because part of the task is for them to acquire what means most to them," McGonagall explained. "For Mr. Potter, that is you Ms. Ben–Black. And for Mr. Krum, that is Ms. Granger."

Aw. That's kind of sweet that I mean the most to Harry.

"And what exactly will happen, Professor?" Hermione asked.

"We will put you under a sleeping spell, and you'll be placed at the bottom of the Black Lake until rescued by either your champion or a group of Aurors on standby."

"What?!" Hermione gasped at the same time that I said, "Wicked!"

"It's completely harmless and the moment you have reached land Madam Pomfrey will assist you in warming up."

Hermione reluctantly agreed while I was just bummed I'd be asleep rather than having a conversation with the Giant Squid.

The light blinded me as I opened my eyes and I coughed a little at the sudden amount of air. I quickly noted that I was soaking wet and figured Harry had succeeded in rescuing me. Eventually I was able to see a little more clearly and I noticed Harry was supporting both me and a small girl I recognized as Fleur Delacour's little sister.

"What did you bring her for?" I asked as Harry moved us to the shore.

"Fleur didn't turn up, I couldn't leave her," Harry panted.

"Harry, you prat," I scolded, "you didn't take that song thing seriously, did you? Dumbledore wouldn't have let any of us drown!"

"The song said—"

"It was only to make sure you got back inside the time limit!" I exclaimed. "I hope you didn't waste time down there acting the hero!"

Harry ignored me, a slight scowl on his face. I let go of him so that he wasn't carrying my weight and went over to help with the girl, who didn't seem to be able to swim very well.

As soon as we had the girl situated with Fleur I was pulled into Fred's arms. He wrapped a thick blanket tightly around me and hugged me just as tightly. I laughed at him but secretly appreciated his warmth as I was bloody freezing.

Fred picked me up off the ground and carried me to a little area Madam Pomfrey had set up. I giggled as he placed me down and peppered me with kisses until she showed up.

"You're such a mom," I laughed. He scowled at me but I ignored him and gave him a small peck.

In no time at all Madam Pomfrey came bustling over with a Pepperup Potion. The hot potion left me cringing as steam came from my ears, but it warmed me up a little nonetheless.

I remained cuddled up with Fred as they announced the points given to each of the champions. Fred and I both clapped loudly as Harry received forty-five points, leaving him tied with Cedric.

We congratulated Harry and I apologized as his heroism seemed to work in his favor.

"I think everyone's making their way up to the castle," Harry spoke, noticing the crowd moving.

"But I don't wanna move," I whined. "It's cold."

"It's not that cold," Harry rolled his eyes.

"Speak for yourself," I scoffed. "I'm bloody freezing."

"If you come back up to the castle you can change into dry clothes and maybe take a nap," Fred whispered, his hot breath on my neck leaving me with goosebumps.

Reluctantly, I gave in, dragging my feet up the trail. Fred has to carry me up the many stairs as I was taking my time with every step, and eventually I was able to change clothes.

I laid in my bed like Fred had suggested, and I could feel the sleep trying to take over me, but I was still cold.

I summoned another blanket.

And then another.

And then another.

Why is it so bloody cold?!

Groaning, I got out of the bed, taking some of the blankets with me. I dragged them all the way to the boys' dormitory and opened it to find just Fred, working on an essay.

"Hey, babe, I though you were gonna take a nap?" Fred said, opening his arms so that I could cuddle into him.

"That was the plan." I yawned. "But I'm so cold."

Fred laid down next to me, getting comfortable to where my face was buried in his chest and his arms were around me. He put a few blankets over us and brought me even closer.

"Better?" He asked.

I smiled, finally feeling some warmth. His chest was awfully warm.

"Much."

I felt his soft lips on my forehead before sleep finally took over me.
