Chapter 7

This story takes scenes from the Harry Potter series. I want to make it clear that I don't own those scenes. That's owned by
J.K. Rowling. Thank you•

~Scarlett~

I hummed to myself as I moved my quill across the parchment smoothly.

I was in the fifth year boy's dormitory with Fred and George, sitting in Fred's bed. There wasn't any particular reason that I had chosen to sit in Fred's bed other than fact that it smells like him and I can't help but smile to myself every time I breath in his scent.
But you didn't just hear me think that.

Fred and George were scanning the Marauders Map as I did my History Of Magic essay. I muttered swear words as I struggled to remember the name of this particular goblin.

"I'm going to fail the O.W.L.'s!" I exclaimed frustratedly.
"Since when do you care about yours O.W.L.'s?" George questioned.
"I don't, but my mum would kill me if I got anything lower than an Exceeds Expectations," I sighed.
"You realize it's October, right?" Fred asked.
I hummed in response.
"And that we don't have O.W.L.'s until May, right?" George inquired.
I hummed again.
"Alright then," Fred muttered to himself.
"What are you two doing anyway?" I questioned, looking up at the two as they continued to scan the map.
"We're looking for the best route to Flich's office so that we can prank him," George replied.

I nodded and continued searching for the goblin's name.

"Bloody hell!" Fred exclaimed, jumping to his feet.

George and I looked at him curiously as he pointed to the map frantically.

Glancing down, I saw two dark, bold, red names pacing around mum's office.

Mr. Moony and Mrs. Padfoot.

"That can't be right!" I breathed out.
"What would they be doing in Hogwarts?" George questioned.
"And why my mum's office?" I added.
"Uh, is no one else thinking about how Padfoot was married? I mean, Padfoot?!" Fred exclaimed.
"Well let's go!" I stated, jumping up and running out the door.

Fred and George followed me down the corridors to my mum's office.

I didn't necessarily believe the map, but it's never lied before, and I couldn't help but be excited by the news that a Marauder and the wife of a Marauder was in Hogwarts.

Finally arriving outside the door, we glanced down at the map to make sure that they were sill inside the office.

Sure enough, the two names were still pacing inside.

"Moony and Padfoot's wife is on the other side of this door," I mumbled to myself.
"Go on then!" George urged.

Shakily, I pushed the door open. I had kind of expecting to see an old but wise wizard, and an old woman who was greying and was wrinkly, but still beautiful. However I was met by mum and Professor Lupin.

"Holy sh-"
"Scarlett!" Mum scolded.
"You're Padfoot's wife?!" I questioned.

Mum's and Professor Lupin's eyes widened.

"And you're Moony," Fred stated.
"How do you know that?" Professor Lupin demanded.
"The map," George replied, holding up the old parchment.

Professor Lupin and mum stared at the map with deep frowns.

"I'm the daughter of Padfoot!" I exclaimed, turning to Fred and George.
"Scarlett, please calm down," Mum pleaded.
"Wait, if my father is Padfoot then where is he?" I asked.
"Scar," Mum whimpered, tears filling her eyes.
"And where's Prongs and Wormtail?" Fred added.
"Were they married too? Are you Moo- I mean, Professor Lupin?" George inquired.

Mum promptly burst into tears, Professor Lupin comforting her. My eyes widened at the sight of them. I wasn't expecting that sort of reaction.

"Mum?" I questioned warily.
"I-I'm sorry," Mum stated, wiping her tears away.
"No need to be sorry, Claire," Professor Lupin frowned.
"No. If anyone deserves the right to be sad then it's you. You knew them longer than me," Mum cried.
"That doesn't mean you don't have the right to be upset over them. You lost your two best friends. I've still got one, even if he's a-" Professor Lupin started, but was cut off by Mum, who's demeanor changed faster than Professor Snape could say 'Potter'. And that's with the scowl.
"He's. Not." Mum growled.

Professor Lupin sighed before turning back to us.
"Yes. I am a Marauder. Or rather, I am Moony. Claire is Padfoot's wife, but is not necessarily a Marauder. Prongs was also married, and I was engaged. My fiancé, Prongs, Mrs. Prongs, and Wormtail are dead. Padfoot is alive, but he's not with us at the current moment. Obviously."

Fred, George, and I all stared at him with our mouths hanging open. George was the first to compose himself, "So where is Padfoot?"

Mum let out a small sob at his question, and I smacked George's arm hard. George only shrugged at me.

"We don't know," Professor Lupin sighed.
"Is he like, a bad guy?" George pushed.
"No!" Mum exclaimed at the same time Professor Lupin said, "Kind of."

Mum glared at Professor Lupin.

"He isn't Remus!" Mum said sharply.
"You may not think so, Claire. But the rest of the world does," Professor Lupin quipped.
"I know he isn't, and you have no right saying as much in front of my daughter. Must I remind you who he is to her?" Mum seethed.

Professor Lupin only glared at her.

"She's his daughter! His daughter! If you can't except that then you can get out of my face!" Mum roared.
"Clairesse calm down!" Professor Lupin demanded.
"Don't bloody tell me to calm down! I can't take this anymore! The three of you go back to your Common Room!" Mum snapped, biting her tongue when she realized we were still there.

Only Fred and George left. But I made no sign of wanting to move.

"I will take points from Gryffindor, and will give you detention if you do not match your little butt up to Gryffindor tower this instant." Mum said so calmly it scared me.

I hurriedly walked out the door, still in shock of the whole scenario.

~Claire~

"Please Claire, continue," Remus growled as soon as the door shut behind Scarlett.

I glared daggers at him.

"I've gone twelve years without my husband. Twelve years. Sirius had been rotting in a cell for twelve years for something he didn't even do in the first place. Don't you dare giving me that look Remus Lupin! I've told you countless of times that my husband is innocent! He didn't do a bloody thing! You have no idea how hard that is!" I bellowed.
"I have no idea do I?! Camellia died! The love of my life died! The only person who I could actually talk to! I may have had the guys, but Camellia was my stone! At least Sirius is alive!" Remus spat.
"Don't give me your sob story Remus! At least you know Camellia is happy! She's safe! Sirius is being hunted my all these Aurors and Dementors! I don't know if he's in pain! I don't know if he's dying! I don't know how to help him! I want nothing more than to just be there to pick him up on his feet! I want to baby him the way I had to Scarlett! Oh bloody hell, don't even get me started on Scarlett! I love her so bloody much, but I raised a child by myself! The daughter of a Marauder! The girl was and is the biggest troublemaker I have ever met! So yes, Remus Lupin! Camellia's dead! But you didn't have a three year old that you had to take care of while you grieve over your loss! You didn't have to face the fact that your lover is hurting and you can't help them! You didn't have to lie to your child, and tell them that their parent had left them. You didn't have to tell a little girl that, yeah, her father had left her, but you know, he loved you so it doesn't matter! Because you know what?! It bloody matters!" I screamed.

I fell to the ground, heaving as I tugged at my hair. Sobs racked my body. I gasped for air between each sob. My nose ran but I couldn't do much about it. My eyes burned but it was nothing compared to the pain I felt for my husband. Oh my husband. My Sirius. The pain he's probably going through.

I hadn't noticed until now, but Remus sat beside me, his arms wrapped around me.

"Shh. It's okay Claire. Shh. It's going to be alright." Remus mumbled.
"B-B-But i-it's not!" I sobbed.
"It will be." Remus insisted.
"It won't." I denied.
"It will, Claire." Remus replied.
"How are you so sure?" I questioned.
"Because I know how much Sirius loves you. He may think you're divorced, but he won't be able to live until he's at least seen you." Remus stated.
"Merlin's beard! Scarlett's going to know that Sirius and I are married!" I exclaimed.
"What? How?" Remus asked.
"She may not know it's Sirius, but she knows I'm married to Padfoot. She's not supposed to know I'm married!" I panicked,
"Hey! Hey! Don't panic. You can talk to her later. You're okay. Just breath Claire," Remus ordered.

I slowly nodded.

"I'm okay."
