Daenys Velaryon remained the only daughter of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Born on the third day of the eleventh moon in 114AC, just seven minutes after her twin brother, Jacaerys, Daenys did not stand to inherit the Iron Throne. Her grandfather, the King, went on to name her Princess of Dragonstone, as a means of compensation. She would inherit the ancestral seat of her family, while Jace would sit the throne and rule Westeros from the Red Keep.

She was glad for it. Daenys did not believe herself a truly suitable candidate for the throne ━ though being the second in line to inherit it increased that likelihood significantly. Responsibility and expectation crippled most of her childhood, as did the burden of upholding her family in the midst of vile accusations and circulating whispers that she and her brothers shared Strong blood.

They were the black sheep of Kings Landing. Even at dawn, a darkness loomed over them; a black cloud that could not be lifted.

In her desperation to seek justice and belong, Daenys reluctantly agrees to King Viserys' proposition ━ to wed Aemond Targaryen. A sullen attempt to bridge the divide, to conquer their differences and form an alliance between the two sides. It was a loveless marriage by all means and expectations, forged by duty and sacrifice. She instead spent her days worming into the cracks of Kings Landing, manipulating her way into the weakened cavities of trust and tearing them asunder.

Daenys Velaryon became a pivotal force in turning the tide in the Dance of Dragons, feeding the Blacks the antidote to the Greens' poison, while maintaining the feeble trust of the vipers within their venomous pit. The cunning mistress of whispers, as she was oft labeled. A fierce competitor to Larys Strong's duplicitous ways.

i have always wanted to write a
fic with rhaenyra's daughter as the
narrative. people always write
nyra as a bad mother when it's
simply not the case - she started a
war for lucerys. she loves her kids
more than anything, and she will
be portrayed that way throughout.

this fic contains strictly no
targcest, despite Daenys &
aemond marrying as a way to
'strengthen the family' per viserys'
order. they will have a relationship
that does not stray into anything
romantic. strictly platonic and very
complicated, due to their differences
and loyalties.

this is a cregan x oc story but
that will come later in the seasons/the
story. gotta love some character
building and angst first.
