Après Moi, Le Déluge

Cassie opened her eyes recognizing the place from the last time she smiles turning around "You convinced her to do it again?"

He smiled at her "yeah well something happened earlier and let's just say it piqued her curiosity so yeah she did it again."

Cassie looks at him "what happened?"

"Well while you were waiting on the doctor earlier... I, of course, was right there with you and I touched your hand and it looked like you could feel it and so curiosity piqued"

Cassie looks at him "that was you? I felt something on my hand but there was nothing there... I can feel you?"

Kol smiles at her "I guess so what the witch told when it happened was that since it's unstudied about one soulmate dying and the other living that our bond might allow little interactions like that"

Cassie smiles "so you were there you heard what the doctor told me then huh?"

Kol nods at her laying a hand on her face and caressing her cheek "yeah but you can tell me anyway if you want"

Cassie nods at him "we're having a baby girl and our daughter is perfectly healthy... I've been looking into ways to bring you back... you remember Isabella? The witch we saved? Well, I used the favor she owed us for her to find a way to bring you back to us, she's working on it... she's supposed to let me know when she finds what she needs but I'm not giving up until I have you back."

Kol smiles pulling her into a kiss "I know you won't Cassie, your determination is just one of the things that I love about you."

Cassie smiles "I love you Kol."

"I love you too Cass" before Cassie has a chance to say anything else, her eyes shoot open and she's looking at Rebekah "what's going on?"

The blonde original sighs "Sorry to wake you Cass but it's Davina, she's asking for you and she's not looking too good, Sophie says she's self-destructing because of all the magic inside of her and that they need to complete the harvest and once they do all four of the girls will come back."

Cassie gets up and nods "I'll be right there" the original walks out of the room and Cassie gets dressed before following behind her and stopping outside of Davina's room, she nods at the original and Rebekah opens the door. Rebekah hands her a syringe "just in case you need to calm her down" Cassie takes it with a nod.

Cassie walks into the room behind Rebekah "hey kid."

The Claire witch smiles weakly at the blonde alien "what's happening to me?"

Cassie sits the syringe down on the bedside table taking a seat on the bed with the young witch "well sweetheart from what I was told the magic inside of you is tearing you apart because one person was never meant to hold that much power.... they want to complete the harvest."

The young witch looks at Cassie wide-eyed, looking terrified "No-"

Cassie gently lays a hand on the girl's face "Davina sweetheart it's okay.... they said you and the other three girls will all be resurrected"

The Claire witch shakes her head still looking terrified "The witches are liars..... they'll say anything to get what they want." the young witch is freaking out and the wind picks up even more.

Cassie sighs looking at the witch "sweetheart you've got to calm down okay? The more you freak out the worse that this is gonna get and the faster you deteriorate. You need to stay calm" she reaches for the syringe "This is a sedative and it'll calm you down... I promise you that it's not gonna hurt you, all it's gonna do is make you sleepy and calm."

Davina shakes her head "please don't"

Cassie caresses the girl's cheek "I don't like this any more than you do sweetheart... remember that I'm the one that's on your side here... no matter what" then she pulls the young witch into a hug, injecting the sedative into her neck.

The winds calm down a little after Davina settles. Rebekah walks out of the room after they put the IV into the girl's arm to keep her sedated but Cassie stays right by Davina's bed "I am so sorry about this sweetheart... the last thing I want is to see something happen to you."

Marcel walks into the room surprised to see Cassie beside Davina's bed "surprised that Klaus doesn't have a guard outside"

Cassie looks at him "he doesn't need one when I haven't left her side since we sedated her."

Marcel looks at the alien "I have to get her out of here... I didn't save her from the Harvest the first time to just hand her over to be killed."

He takes the IVs out of her arm, and Cassie nods "I agree with you... I don't want anything to happen to her, I've grown rather attached to her in the short amount of time that I've known her. So grab her and let's go... I'm not gonna leave her, I made a promise that I was gonna be on her side and I'm not gonna break that promise."

Marcel nods at her picking Davina up, and the two sneak out with her, they end up down at the docks. Cassie is once again sitting by the Claire witch's side as they wait for her to wake up.

⚝──⭒─⭑─⭒──⚝

Davina wakes up confused and looks around anxiously to find she's in a storage locker. When she sees, Cassie on one side of her she clams down slightly then she sees Marcel sitting next to her on the other side, she panics and telekinetically throws him against the wall.

Cassie grabs the girl's hand "it's okay Vina... he's not gonna hurt you."

Marcel gets up and walks back over to them "She's right D I'm not gonna hurt you"

The Claire witch shakes her head at him "I don't believe you! You want to kill me, just like everyone else. Expect Cassie, she's the only one who hasn't tried to use me for something."

Cassie steps back slightly to give the two a moment knowing that there are things they need to talk about, Marcel looks at the Claire witch "I'm the one who put a protection spell on you, Davina. That's why Tim's dead and you're not. And before you throw me again, if I had known anything was gonna happen to your friend, I would have protected him, too."

Davina looks surprised "You're the one who saved me?"

Then she looks over at Cassie, who smiles at her "I don't know anything about that kid... I stormed off after Nik wouldn't listen to me about leaving your friend alone."

Marcel looks at the teenager again "Yeah, but now the witch who did the spell is in league with the rest of them, so I had to take you away and Cassie wouldn't leave you something about a promise she made to you."

Davina looks at him suspiciously "So you could use me as a weapon?" then she smiles at the alien hybrid "thank you for keeping your promise"

Cassie smiles "I always keep my promises Vina... unless it's something out of my control."

The vampire looks between them and smiles slightly seeing how protective the blonde is over the teenage witch, before turning his attention back to the teenager "I'm trying to keep you safe. Davina, look at me. I messed up. All this power that you have, it gave me an advantage. It helped me punish the witches, and it let me run the city, and I let that mean too much. All right? But that's over with now. One survivor to another, all I want to do is keep you alive, I swear."

Davina looks at the vampire tears in her eyes "I'm scared. I don't know what's wrong with me." Cassie walks back over to the girl's side as Marcel says "You're not alone. We'll fix this."

The teenager looks between the alien hybrid and vampire on either side of her "You won't let them hurt me?"

Marcel shakes his head "No. Nobody's gonna touch you."

She looks at the blonde "Cass?"

Cassie smiles "I promise Vina that I will do whatever I can to help you."

The brunette nods and smiles "you know... you're gonna be an amazing mom Cassie."

The blonde alien hybrid smiles "so I've been told but thank you, Vina."

⚝──⭒─⭑─⭒──⚝

Davina is laying on her cot in the storage unit while Marcel and Cassie sit at her bedside, comforting her. The blonde gently ran her fingers through the teenager's hair. Davina looks at Marcel "If I can just wait it out a few more weeks... Help me, please?"

Marcel nods at the teenager "I will, and when it's over, I'll do what I should have done-- get you out of town."

Davina smiles and looks at Cassie "I had a dream that Tim wasn't dead. He played a song that he wrote for me, and he kissed me, and we were just normal."

Cassie smiles down at the teenage witch about to say something when Rebekah arrives and stands in the doorway "That sounds like a beautiful dream."

Marcel looks at her "What are you doing here?"

Rebekah ignores him talking to the Claire witch "But it was just a dream."

Marcel gets angry at the blonde original "Get out!"

Rebekah glares at him "This is killing her. Your stubbornness will mean her death."

Marcel is still glaring at Rebekah "I promised her I'd fight for her. I'm not breaking that promise."

Cassie looks at her future sister-in-law "I made her that same promise Bex and you know I never break my promises."

The Original looks between the two of them "No one is asking you not to fight. Marcel, You're the only family that this girl has. You owe it to her to fight for her to live." She looks at Cassie "I know you care about her Cass and don't want to lose someone else, you wanna help her so keep that promise by fighting for her to live."

Cassis hugs the teenage witch who has tears rolling down her face, Davina looks at her "what did she mean when she said that you didn't want to lose someone else?"

Cassie sighs "a while back I lost my Soulmate... he was killed and for a while, I pretty much shut everyone but my sisters out... they wouldn't let me, then I found out about the baby and that gave me something to look forward to and now I have a way to bring him back but just waiting on my witch to find the spell she needs, which is why I'm not as distraught about it as I was then. but I've grown rather fond of you Vina and that's why Bex said that."

The teen witch nods "I'm sorry Cassie."

"I am too but I'll be okay and I'm gonna keep that promise and fight for you."

The witch hugs her again "thank you" then the teen witch walks over and hugs Marcel "Marcel, it's okay."

He shakes his head "No. I failed you."

Davina looks at him with a look of determination in her eyes that makes Cassie smile "I'll die whether I do this or not. I mean, now the only option is-- is whether I take everyone with me. If you look at it that way, it's kind of selfish not to do it."

Marcel shook his head. "There has to be another way. This is not how it ends."

Davina gives him a look "And if it is... If this is all I have, I've had a lot. I had Monique, and I had Tim, and I had someone who fought for me from the moment you met me."

Marcel is near tears himself now "Awe, Davina."

Davina smiles at the two of them "Most people don't get that even if they live to be a hundred. Marcel, I'm ready."

⚝──⭒─⭑─⭒──⚝

Marcel appears, carrying Davina in his arms with Cassie in front of them. As they walk toward them, flames follow them in a trail that licks at Marcel's heals. Once they get to the altar, Marcel sets her down, and Sophie holds the ceremonial athame over the flames before she heads toward Davina.

"Do you believe in the harvest?"

The Claire witch nods nervously "I believe." Once she says the words, Sophie raises the blade and slits Davina's throat with it. Davina gasps in shock and grabs at her throat before she falls back. Marcel catches her and lays her down on the ground. Just then, the rain stops, and Davina's skin glows gold as the magic leaves her body and flows into the earth.

"After the Harvest comes the Reaping. Their sacrifices made and accepted. We call upon our Elders to resurrect the chosen ones." Nothing happens, and the rest of them look around at each other uneasily. Sophie begins again "We call upon our Elders to resurrect the chosen ones..." Still, nothing happens. Sophie becomes flustered and is near tears "Resurrect your chosen ones... Please? I beg..." When it becomes clear that something has gone wrong, Sophie falls to her knees and sobs "No!"

Sophie begins to sob even harder, and Cassie, Hayley, and Rebekah all start to cry, Cassie harder than the other two as she was closer to the teen than they were. Elijah and Klaus both look depressed, but not as much as Marcel, who shoots Klaus a look of hatred before vampire-speeding away.

Cassie walks away from the cemetery heading back to the compound, as she walks into her room Astrid walks in hugging her sister "I heard about Davina and I'm sorry baby I know you cared about her."

Cassie looks at her with tears still in her eyes "it was supposed to work... Davina was supposed to come back along with the other Harvest girls but none of them did.... if they're supposed to come back and didn't then something is stopping them from coming back and I intended to find out what it is, I promised that I would help her in whatever way I could and I never break my promises so I'll find a way to get her back.... that is a promise."

Astrid nods still hugging her sister as Kol watched his soulmate sadly wishing he was there with her physically to comfort her having seen how close Cassie had grown to the teenage witch. "she's right you know... it was working."

Kol looks at her "how do you know?"

The witch smirks "I was a French Quarter witch Kol... even as a spirit I'm in touch with the ancestors... it was working then someone sabotaged the ritual... I don't know how yet but I know that a powerful witch used the harvest to resurrect four other witches that aren't the Harvest girls, so I'll let you talk to your girl again and you can tell her how to get her girl, Davina back."

Kol smiles, taking whatever chance he can to talk to his soulmate again "okay."
