Chapter Ten

~Haru's POV~

I woke with the cute otter plush tucked under my arm, unsure of what time it was and noticed my room had changed a little while I slept. There was a pale blue vase filled with some bright blooms sitting atop my nightstand. At some point while I'd slept someone had hung up a few random frames with pictures of flowers and placed a fleece floral blanket at the foot of my bed. It seemed like they were trying to make my room less dreary and more comforting.

When I went to the bathroom to take a shower, I noticed another vase with fresh lavender on the counter and a new shower curtain with lavender on it. I took a quick shower and changed into a pair of grey leggings and a long lavender tank top that fell past my bottom before stepping into a pair of slippers. As I stepped out of my room, the hallway was empty. Slowly I made my way upstairs to the bar where Kurogiri and Shigaraki conducted most of their business hoping to find some food.

As I drew nearer to the bar, I heard voices and paused not sure if I should turn back. I didn't want to interrupt them. I recognized Kurogiri's voice but didn't recognize the second voice. Hesitantly I continued forward and soon found myself in the storage room behind the bar. Kurogiri looked over as he sensed me approach.

"Good Evening Haru." He greeted me politely as I stepped into the bar. There wasn't anyone else here.

"Good Evening...were you talking to someone, just now?" I asked curiously as I looked around the empty bar.

Kurogiri hesitated.

"I'd like to see the little doctor, Kurogiri." I heard a voice coming from the TV along the wall beneath a ripped up All Might poster.

Kurogiri extended his hand to me and I nervously placed my hand in his. He gently promenaded me around the bar before stopping in front of the TV. The screen was black and said 'sound only' in glowing purple letters.

"Ah. I see how she could be a distraction." The voice chuckled, "It's nice to meet you, Dr. Sano."

I bowed awkwardly not sure what to do or who I was addressing as all I saw was a blank screen.

"Haru, this is our Master, the leader of The League of Villains." Kurogiri filled me in politely.

"N-Nice to meet you." I squeaked.

"I understand you're already a gifted surgeon at such a young age. That's quite impressive." The disembodied voice praised me.

"Th-Thank you." I fidgeted uncomfortably with the hem of my long tank top.

"Would you do me a favor, little doctor?" The disembodied voice sounded again.

"S-sure..."

"Can you wake Shigaraki? A guest will be arriving soon to see him."

I nodded my head before scampering away. Something about the disembodied voice made me feel nervous and scared. Though I couldn't see him, I had a feeling he was monstrously strong and not someone I should anger. When I got to Shigaraki's room I took a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself before knocking softly.

Silence.

I knocked again a little louder.

Nothing.

Hesitantly I opened the door. It swung open into a dark room that was mostly barren save for some dark window hangings completely sealing all light out of the room a bed with hardly any blankets or pillows. Shigaraki was sound asleep sprawled across the practically bare bed. He was wearing pants and socks but no shirt revealing his scarred torso. I approached the bed quietly looking at the familiar scars I'd seen when tending to his injuries and the newer wounds I'd doctored for him.

"Shigaraki?" I tried his name trying not to startle him.

He didn't react.

I knelt on the edge of the bed and leaned forward to shake him awake gently "Shigaraki?"

His arm hooked around me and I let out a squeak as he rolled over taking me with him. I toppled onto the bed with a yelp. He was still sound asleep. My heart thundered in my chest as I found myself pressed against his lean yet slender torso.

"Shigaraki!" I squeaked.

His crimson eyes fluttered open and he looked surprised to find me in his bed, "Haru? What are you doing?"

"The M-Master asked me to wake you up."

He sat up, pulling me with him, having yet to release me from his hold. "The Master?"

"That's what Kurogiri called him..." I bit my lip. "He said you were going to have a guest soon."

Shigaraki reluctantly released me from his hold before dragging himself out of bed. I glanced around the dark room, though there wasn't much in it, it was a mess. Some of the walls were cracked apart looking like they'd suffered from his quirk. The few pieces of furniture in the room were damaged or turned over. Clothes were spilling out of the closet, not in any order.

"Your room is a mess." I remarked.

He turned to me with a glare, but it was nowhere near as scary as usual. His lips twitched as if he were trying to fight off a smile. "How is your room?"

My cheeks flushed at this, so he was behind it somehow, "It's brighter...were you responsible?"

He shrugged, "I told Kurogiri to make it more comfortable."

A small smile tugged at my lips. "...thank you..."

Shigaraki shrugged his shoulders as he walked over to the closet and picked up a long sleeve dark shirt and hurriedly stuffed it on before steering me out the door. We made it back to the bar and he took a seat where he normally sat at the bar. I hesitated, not sure if I should go or stay. His crimson gaze flickered over in my direction to where I was standing.

"Come here." He beckoned me toward him.

My cheeks reddened and I slowly approached him. The TV screen was still blank with the purple 'sound only' glowing in the center of the screen. Shigaraki pointed to the barstool next to him. I sat down quietly and folded my hands into my lap.

Kurogiri looked to me and hesitated. He had apparently been given some kind of order while I was waking Shigaraki and he seemed nervous to have me here. Was it something dangerous? He sighed and activated his quirk creating a warp gate near the door. A terrifying man with no nose, long scraggly black hair dressed in cargo pants, combat boots, a tight-fitting grey tank top, bandage wraps around his arms and two worn scarves one white and one blood red, appeared out of the shadow portal. His eyes were the eyes of a killer. I shrank into my seat as fear gripped me.

"I get it." His voice was somewhat scratchy and sent a chill down my spine, "You must be the ones who attacked UA...and you want to recruit me to build up your little group again." Is that what had happened? Is that where Shigaraki had gotten shot?

Shigaraki didn't seem the least bit surprised by the visitor, "Yeah. It'll be great, you have so much experience." His tone was lazy and unaffected, not intimidated by the terrifying man.

"And what is your mission?" The scary man asked, his terrifying gaze flicked briefly in my direction.

Shigaraki leaned forward resting his elbow on the bar to block me from view, "For now? I really just want to kill All Might. I like to destroy anything that pisses me off. Like this brat here." He picked up a small stack of photos and held one up with a teenage boy with forest green hair and bright green eyes wearing a UA gym uniform. "Game over."

The scary man's blood red eyes narrowed into a glare and I felt something inside of me, something dark and terrifying clawing at my insides. "I was a fool to think you could offer me anything. It turns out you're the type of person I hate most in this world."

"Hm?" Shigaraki tensed. The strange dark feeling inside of me began to grow, I felt a familiar deadly calm wash over me, no longer intimidated by this man as the memories of the thousands of people Dr. Arai had pitted me against flashed through my mind's eye. Each one of them had been scary and trying to kill me and I'd slaughtered them all. I sat up straighter, my muscles taut and tense as I prepared myself for what was to come.

"The goals of your 'league' are those of a child." He reached for two of the hunters' knives sheathed under his arms. "What meaning is there to killing, if you don't have any real convictions?" He unsheathed his blades and my body jerked slightly as I was overcome with a familiar and terrifying murderous intent.

"Master? Should I step in?" Kurogiri asked nervously.

"Let it happen." The voice sounded from the TV. "It's possible this is the only way he'll learn anything. He needs to think about the ways he must grow, how he can mature. Only then will he reach his potential."

The scary man made a move toward Shigaraki and my body moved on its own. I lunged forward. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Shigaraki reach for me and thought I heard him call my name, but my body seemed to want to do its own thing and swiftly evaded him.

"Haru!" Kurogiri gasped.

The terrifying man with the knives moved faster than I had anticipated and didn't care in the slightest that I'd run to meet him rather than Shigaraki. He swiped at me. My body moved fluidly on its own avoiding the swipes. He recovered quickly with a backslash and managed to nick my arm. As he drew the blade toward his mouth, I activated my quirk and smacked him hard across the face, freezing him in stasis.

He froze in place, his blade a mere hair away from his lips. Had he been trying to lick my blood? Before I could do anything more, a hand clapped down on my shoulder with the index finger elevated slightly so only four fingers were making contact. I snapped out of my daze and let out a panicked squeak as I realized I was face to face with the scary man.

I hurriedly scrambled to hide behind Shigaraki. What had just happened? Shakily, I clung to the back of Shigaraki's shirt. "I told you before, I had no need for a monster right now." Shigaraki's voice sounded in front of me.

"S-sorry...I d-don't know what happened." I yelped.

Shigaraki shrugged at this, "Perhaps I was wrong. Nice work, Haru."

"Huh?"

Shigaraki gently pushed me back toward the bar and I toppled onto one of the barstools and stared at him in awe. He turned on the scary man with the scraggly black hair with a smirk. "Kurogiri, take Haru to her room."

Kurogiri walked around the bar and offered me his arm. I hesitated not understanding and placed my hand on his arm allowing him to whisk me out of the bar. As we were leaving, I heard Shigaraki address the scary man.

"Now that I have your attention, Hero Killer." He knew how my quirk worked, he'd been caught in it enough times to know that the man would be able to hear and see everything that was going on, just be unable to react or feel anything.

Kurogiri paused as we got to my bedroom door and my stomach let out a low grumble. My cheeks reddened, "S-sorry..."

He chuckled at this, "I'll bring you something to eat."

"Th-thanks..."

He turned to walk away and I remembered the comforting homey touches to my bedroom and called after him.

"Kurogiri."

His glowing yellow eyes turned to me as he paused.

"Thanks...for brightening up my room..."

"You're welcome, Haru. I hope it's to your liking."

I nodded.

"Stay in your room until I or Shigaraki come to get you...I'll be back shortly with some food."

I nodded, "D-Did I do something wrong?"

He shook his head, "No, I think Shigaraki just wants you to be involved as little as possible for your safety."
