1- In Which The Cats Are Acting Weird

Far away, there are two towns.

One is inhabited with around 20 people, all with many recreational activities; but low power and money to keep them up and running. The place is dismal outside of small parties and groupings that happen in more private areas.

The other has a large population, with public parties and events booming through the streets every week. Unlike the first, the group enjoys themselves very much with whatever they want to.

Cleo Zaaron lived in the latter of the two with her girlfriend and their two cats. They stayed in a small teal house by the edge of town, closest place to the ocean that they could afford.

Cleo sat on the wood railing of her porch, watching her girlfriend dance around the yard with their cats, Thimbles and Gobo. She smiled as the blonde laughed, twirling around in a plain striped dress around the yard. The two women both wore flower crowns, both from the garden Cleo had planted herself.

Cleo loved gardening. She took flower gardening and bouquet-making classes many years ago. After then, she got into getting a small cart downtown to owning a flower shop nearby. She had even met the love of her life, False, at the flower shop. Sure, False was there with her past boyfriend, but Cleo had only befriended her then.

They were perfect for each other. A gardener with a taste for art and a designer who loved to tell stories. False would make up stories and their settings, Cleo would draw them.

As the sun went down over the sapphire sea, False picked up the two cats and went inside to get ready for bed. "Cleo? You coming in?"

The ginger looked back at her. "Oh! Uh, yeah." She swung her legs over the railing, walking in after the blonde.

False set the cats down, closing the wooden door and clicking the cat door closed. She walked over to her room to get into her pajamas. Thimbles and Gobo twirled around Cleo's legs, glancing over at the cellar door; then up at the woman. Then back. Then up. Over and over and over again.

"...What?" The zombie frowned, looking towards the door. "What's wrong?" She stalked over to the threshold, hand on the golden handle.

"Sweetie, what is it?" Her emerald eyes flew up to False, wearing a dressing gown and reading glasses. "What are you doing?"

"The cats are acting up," Cleo noted, pointing down at Gobo. He had been rubbing up against the door, meowing loudly at the two lovers.

"Probably just a squirrel."

"How the hell would a squirrel get into the cellar?"

"Okay, okay. Let's check it in the morning?" False yawned.

"No! The cats are freaking me out." Cleo whined, about to turn the handle.

"Okay, bun."

Cleo grinned, turning the handle and pulling it roughly. It creaked loudly, showing a thin, dark staircase. A small light switch stood on the white-green wall, Cleo pushing it. A small lightbulb clicked on, flickering slightly.

"Okay, I'll check down here. you can go to bed now, sweetie."

"Okay, goodnight."
