8.-Apple Orchard

It had been hours since NPG had ran out of the office.

Robot Grian sat on the ground, leaned up against the wall as his dad worked and prodded and wiped and tweaked anything that went wrong with him.

The robot felt a hard pinch before feeling far better. He looked down at himself, smiling at the clean silver chest plate. It had been a hard few hours, but he'd survived as always and gotten a better body part again.

It's annoying, being the oldest robot in town. Every single part of him had probably been replaced by now, excluding his brain. He remembered a lot, from when his dad had brought him to the first Hermiton island to when his dad had hauled him and one of his brothers to the current one. He remembered everything. Every bang in the middle of the night, every time his wires malfunctioned and he made a fool of himself in front of everyone. He remembered every time he accidentally hurt someone with those malfunctions, and worse...

But now was different. He had to go and get NPG, and to tell him he was okay and that Daddy is very sorry for what he said. He looked up, seeing 'Daddy' had already gone to the boy's room.

"ARGIE, CAN YOU GO GET SOME APPLES FROM OUTSIDE? WE'RE GOING TO MAKE APPLESAUCE!"

The robot sighed happily, standing up and walking out into the hallway. "What, how many do I need to get?"

"JUST A FEW! IT'S NOT GOING TO BE A BIG BATCH-"

"Dad, I'm right here," He grinned, opening the door to the kitchen where his family sat.

"Oh, okay," his dad smiled. "Well, I'm glad you're better. I let you sleep a bit, that must have been hard."

"Of course, it's-"

"ARGIEEEE!" NPG jumped off of his little stool, grabbing his brother by the torso. "What happened? Did it hurt? You're okay now, right? You won't need Daddy to fix you up for a long time, right?"

RG stumbled back, laughing at his younger brother. "Of course, I'm far better! It only hurt a small bit, and Daddy won't have to fix me up for a very long time," he pulled his arms around the boy, turning to the pair's creator. "Uh, Dad? Should we go apple-hunting together? Apple-picking, I think that's the word?"

"Oh, of course! We could show Enjie how to do it, I guess," The man smiled, taking one of the robot's hands. "Let's go, someone might steal them!"

With NPG squealing, the trio ran out of their front door to the large jungle they lived just out of. There were some smaller oak trees around the corner, the only place Dad would get them. He said he didn't trust the shops that sold them, and it was nice to grow your own.

Turning the corner, they saw a person standing next to a tree with a large basket, picking the reddest of the fruit out of the trees. They turned their head and smiled. "Hey, G! Happy to see you and your boys out this morning." They laughed as NPG walked up to them, plucking an apple out of their basket. "Hey little guy, my girlfriend needs those for-"

"But they're ours!" The little robot whined, handing his creator the apple. "It's our apple place!"

Grian laughed, picking up the boy and throwing the apple back. "Hey Isky. Yeah, it's nice to be out here with my little boys."

"Daaad! I'm like 20 or something!" Robot Grian mock-whined, hugging his dad from the back.

"And I'm- old!" NPG smiled.

"True, we need to find your birthday. It's been a long time, that's for sure," the dirty blonde noted. "So Isk, why do you need so many apples?"

"Stress wants to make some apple pie, you know," the Swede sighed happily. "She's really good at it, I think it's for a party or something."

"A party? Where will it be?" Grian asked. "Would Scar be there? Tango?"

"Uh, I think Tango'll be there. I don't think he'll bring..." The brunette stopped, looking at the young robots. "I don't think he'll bring him to the party."

"Hmm," Grian hummed. "Okay, I think I might go."

"Wait Dad, who's "him"? Does he-"

"Argie, We'll talk about this later," the dirty blonde interrupted. "Let's just get some apples, we might be able to see Stress!"

"STRESS!" NPG yelled, jumping out of his dad's arms. "ISN'T STRESS THE COOKIE LADY?"

"What?" RG scoffed. "You mean the lady who handed you a cookie a few months ago because you didn't kill anyone on your first day out in years?"

"Yes," The boy said, crossing his arms. "But she was nice!"

"Boys, let's just get some apples."

"Okay, Dad."

After a few hours, the four had stripped the small orchard of all the fruit that was ripe enough to eat.

"So, should we go to your place, or..?" Grian asked, placing NPG's tiny wicker basket of leaves into his bigger basket.

"Uhm, I think your kitchen would be better. It's bigger and waaaay nicer than mine, you know," the brunette smiled, scratching his old mechanical eye.

"Okay, let's go," Grian smiled, walking up the large set of stairs up to his door. "It's pretty messy inside, please don't mind it..."
