23. Twisted Memories
"You're not the first to want me dead," I remark as I cross my arms. Stiles' face seemed a little surprised that I wasn't shocked by his words, but I honestly wasn't. I figured something like this would be coming sooner or later. It always did. "But might I ask why?"
He raises his eyebrow, shaking his head. "Good luck getting that answer out of me."
"I'm just going to assume it's because-" I start to say before stopping, realizing that the reason I thought he wanted me dead wasn't the reason either. I thought he had the same motive as Deucalion; how I could see the future and give away vital information and events. However, I couldn't see the future anymore...at least, not on command. What other reason could there be?
"What?" Stiles laughs at me. "Cat got your tongue?"
Jade steps forwards from behind me then, growling lowly as her eyes flash red. I hold my arm out to stop her as she takes a deep breath, calming down, but still clearly angry. I turn back to the nogitsune. "What made you decide you'd rather have me dead rather than Lydia?"
"I thought more about it and realized I could use her later," he smirks as Lydia sulks behind me, clearly still a little terrified. I couldn't tell if it was because of the threat or the fact that it was Stiles saying it. "Banshee's are rare, after all. However, not as rare as seers, but that doesn't matter when the seer can't even see into the future."
Before I can say anything more, I feel Allison grab me by the arm and start to tug me away, probably so I didn't lose it, and I was glad that she did. I mean, I had myself under control, but seeing Stiles like that saying those things to me...it was hard to process. Even if I did know that he was possessed.
She takes me back into the kitchen before shutting the door behind her, blocking my view from Stiles completely. I notice then that Lydia, Jade, Scott, and Deaton were all gathered here, a look on their faces telling me that they had a plan. At least, I hoped they did.
I notice Scott keep eyeing me out of the corner of his eye, but I didn't blame him. He probably thought I'd snap just like I had earlier again. "What are we supposed to do with him?"
"What about the scroll?" Lydia says, licking her lips slowly. "About changing his body."
"That's if I translated it correctly," Deaton breathes. "It could just be a metaphor."
Scott turns to Lydia then. "And what if he doesn't want it? He's never asked to be a werewolf."
"But it could save his life," I say, shaking my head. This was a tough decision, especially since we couldn't just ask Stiles what he wanted. I had a feeling deep down that Stiles would take the bite if it meant saving him...but then again, I wasn't sure. Stiles would also keep searching for another way.
Deaton looks over at me. "What if it kills him?"
"I've never done this before," Scott breathes, shaking his head. "What if I sever an artery?"
Everyone gives Scott a pathetic look except Jade. "What if I did it? I mean, I have just as much experience as Scott, but I think I can do it."
For some reason, hearing Jade say this causes the air to get caught in my lungs. Deaton speaks up before I can. "Whatever we decide to do, we need to be quick. That kanima venom isn't going to last long."
Jade nods her head. "I can do it, guys. I know I can."
Scott looks between Jade and I, probably wondering what I was thinking about all of this. However, I wasn't really sure what I was thinking. A part of me wanted to get Stiles back before more chaos could break lose, but on the other hand, I was scared that this wouldn't work. If Jade or Scott bites him, it means a whole other chapter opening of unexplored territory...at least, for me. Then there was the lingering fact that the bite may not work, and that worried me to death.
"Either way, I think we need help," Lydia says, breaking the long silence.
Scott holds up his phone. "I've already tried calling Derek-"
"Maybe not Derek," Lydia says, an odd look on her face. I narrow my eyes then as she looks up at all of us, licking her lips slowly. "We need Peter."

"He doesn't look like he could survive a slap across the face, let alone the bite from a werewolf."
"Way to be optimistic," Lydia groans, rolling her eyes.
Peter looks back at her. "It's what I do best."
Stiles was still sitting on the couch, but now Melissa had stuck a piece of tape over his mouth because she was tired of hearing him. I didn't blame her; the guy was getting annoying. However, now that I was standing much closer to him, it only made my stomach hurt more from the sight of him. Stiles looked nothing like Stiles anymore...all that was there was as pale corpse with bags under his eyes that held nothing but hatred...and the real Stiles deep down. The trick was getting him back.
Scott gets back onto topic. "So you don't think it would work?"
"This is more of a war with the mind, not the body," Peter breathes as he gets down onto Stiles' level, looking at him closely for a reason I didn't know why. "I know a better method for winning this battle."
Deaton steps forwards then. "What kind of method?"
Peter reaches down and grabs Scott's hand in that moment, causing his claws to extend. "We're going to get inside of his head."
I step forwards then, Allison's hand brushing out of my own. "Woah woah, what do you mean by that?"
"I mean exactly what I say," Peter smart asses me as he lets Scott's hand fall back down to his side. He slowly walks around to the other side of the couch then, eyeing Stiles. "You're aware of how a werewolf can see into someone else's mind, correct, Corey?"
"Yes I'm aware," I breathe as I scratch the back of my neck, remembering what it had felt like when Deucalion had stuck his claws there to steal my memories. I still had scars from it.
"Good," Peter continues on with his plan. "Scott over here is going to try and dig through pale, sickly, and evil Stiles' mind to unearth an unsickly real Stiles. Then, guide him back through the depths of his own subconscious."
"Are you sure about this?" Scott asks, shaking his head. "I'm not good at doing that type of thing-"
"I can," Jade says then, stepping forwards. "Deucalion had shown me how."
Peter raises an eyebrow. "How adorable. The blind man who called himself the apex of apex predators taught you how to steal memories."
"I'd watch your mouth if I were you," Allison says then, using her hunter's voice. "You're not exactly up to speed yourself and I guarantee you that she could put you on your ass in .2 seconds if she wanted to."
I glance back at Allison, half smiling to myself. I loved it when she threatened people...especially when it was someone like Peter Hale.
Peter ignores her. "I couldn't give two shits who does it. Scott or Jade, take your pick. Just know that neither one of you are going in alone."
I furrow my eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that someone else is going in with one of them," Peter smart asses me again. "Whoever you think can help pull Stiles back."
"Corey should do it," Lydia nods her head towards me. "He treats you like a brother."
I turn to Lydia, seeing the hope in her eyes. Of course I wanted to go in and try and save Stiles, it was all that I wanted to do, but I wasn't the man for this job. "Lydia, you and I both know that he would come back to you...he cares about you too."
Lydia gulps, something in her eyes changing, but I couldn't tell what that something was. Scott speaks up then. "As much as I know how long Stiles has had a crush on Lydia, I think Corey should do it."
I look back at Scott, seeing him nod his head at me as I nod back. Peter clasps his hands together then. "Alright, then it's decided. Scott and Corey, the lovely duo."
"Don't say that," Scott and I both say at the same time, making Allison crack a small smile. After that, Peter directs Scott to stand behind the couch and for me to sit, which we both do as he says.
"What happens when we find him," Scott asks as I feel Peter place Scott's hand on the back of my neck, tracing over the scars from the last time. I tried preparing myself for the pain that was soon to follow, but it was hard to.
Peter sighs. "You'll have to direct him out somehow."
"Thanks for the tip," I remark, hearing Peter chuckle to himself from behind me. "What if this is just a trick."
"We're running out of time," Deaton says then, and that was when I knew that we had to do this. We had to save Stiles, no matter what the cost was. This had to work...I knew it would work.
"Here we go then..." I hear Scott breathe as he starts to press his claws onto the back of my neck harder, causing me to shut my eyes. I count to two before I feel them go all of the way in, causing me to hiss from the pain, but that wasn't what mattered right now; because as soon as he did this, everything around me started to shake and suddenly I was in a new reality.
When I finally throw my eyes open to look around me, I was no longer sitting on the couch in Scott's house, but rather I was laying on Allison's old couch. I sit up as I look around, no longer seeing Scott or any of the others. I take a deep breath as I slowly throw my feet to the floor and stand, wondering where I was.
My eyes flick to the TV screen in that moment, seeing static that made a horrible noise that I wanted to turn off. I go to reach for the remote, but when I go to grab it, my hand just passes right on through...like I was a ghost again. Like I was dead again.
I hear a door close behind me then, causing me to turn and see Victoria Argent walk by and into the kitchen. I realized then that this moment was back when I had been dead...back when I had first met Allison. This was the day that she had to go to Kate's funeral, also known as the day after I had met her and the day after I had died. But why was I here?
I take a deep breath as I look around, keeping in mind that I needed to find Stiles. I was in his conscious for a reason...I needed to find him. However, just before I start to go look for him, I hear Allison's voice coming from upstairs, and the moment I heard it, it was almost compelling. It was like...I had to go to it. So, I did.
It seemed that the memories of what I was here for were slipping away with every step I climbed up the stairs, and eventually when I reached the top, I completely forgot that this wasn't real. Hearing Allison's voice as she sang along to some tune was more important, and getting to her was even more important.
I make it halfway down the hall before I hear the sound of water, indicating that she was in the shower. The closer I get, the greater the need to get to her grows. By the time I'm standing in front of the bathroom door, I was practically throwing it open to get to her.
The white stained door creaks open as Allison continues to sing, and that was when I realized that she was singing Take It Off by Kesha...the same song we had sang for the lip synch battle back at the black light party. Her voice doesn't falter once as I slowly walk forwards, staring at the white curtain that blocked me from her. A part of me screamed to turn around and leave, that I had something to do, but the other part of me made me go closer...like I was being mind controlled.
Just before I reach out to pull the curtain back, Allison's head pops out from around the right side, water droplets dripping down her face as her wet hair covers her shoulders. She smiles at me. "Like my singing?"
I can't form any words in my throat, so I just simply nod my head. Suddenly, I doubted why I was here. "Allison, why...what am I doing in here-"
"It's okay," she grins as she reaches out and places her finger on my lips, causing my voice to get caught in my throat. She slowly lets her finger fall as it drags my bottom lip with it before finally she pulls her hand back. "You want to join me?"
"Yes-" I say before I cut myself off, looking down at my feet. None of this was right...it couldn't be. "Wait, Allison...we weren't a thing now. We had just met-"
The smile gets wiped off of her face as she throws the curtain back, blocking the space between us once again. I furrow my eyebrows just before I hear Allison's voice again, but this time, it wasn't this Allison. It was the Allison from the real world...the voice that snapped me back into reality of why I was here.
Suddenly, I reach forwards and grab the curtain with my hand, clasping it before throwing it wide open. Instead of being greeted with a naked Allison, I was suddenly standing in a large white room that appeared to be a parking garage. Furthermore, when I looked over, I saw Scott standing there as well.
However, just after I notice Scott, I see Stiles as well sitting farther down on a tree stump with the nogitsune as well...playing a game of chess.
Things just got even more complicated.
