Acorn -  or Oak nut, is the nut of the oaks and their close relative. It usually contains a single seed (rarely two seeds), enclosed in a tough, leathery shell, and borne in a cup-shaped capsule. They use it to brush the trouble off of people from head to foot while smoking them in a purifying incense, which rids of them of evil (and jinxes). Others make an Uncrossing Powder, which is burning black hen feathers to a fine ash and dust or blow it on troubled people.

Fennel - is a flowering plant species in the carrot family. It is a hardy, perennial herb with yellow flowers and feathery leaves. It is a highly aromatic and flavorful herb with culinary and medicinal uses and, along with the similar-tasting anise, is one of the primary ingredients of absinthe. Fennel was considered sacred to the Greek god of ecstasy, Dionysus, and was a part of the Dionysian mysteries. The plant's stalks were fashioned into long scepters with pinecones on top that were carried in ceremonies. For personal use, fennel is infused into a delicate, spiritually purifying, physically healing tea that eases nausea, relieves gas, and helps arthritic conditions. When hung over a door, fennel is also believed to repel witches.

Forget-Me-Not - is dainty star-shaped flower from a flowering plants in the genus Myosotis. The flower is associated with love and memories. In 15th century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers. And that forget-me-not planted on the grave of someone you love, will never die as long as you live. Which is why in magic Forget-me-Not are mostly worn or carried to keep a lover close to the wearer's heart. Or giving a forget-me-nots to someone will result in them never forgetting you. Forget-me-not have also been used for lung problems and nose bleeds. However, there is some concern about liver damage and cancer. But there is no evidence that it is particularly helpful in any case so it's not the best plant for your herbal medicine chest. The flowers are sometimes steeped to make a soothing herbal tea. This is safe enough if not done on a regular basis, but probably not worth it.

Garlic - is a species in the onion genus, Allium. Its close relatives include the onion, shallot, leek, chive, and rakkyo. With a history of human use of over 7,000 years, garlic is native to central Asia, and has long been a staple in the Mediterranean region, as well as a frequent seasoning in Asia, Africa, and Europe. It was known to Ancient Egyptians, and has been used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. It is used to invoke Hecate (the Goddess of the moon and pathways in both Greek and Roman tradition). It's uses include healing, protection, exorcism and purification. It can also be used to guard against negative energy, harmful magic, spirits and jealousy of others.

Garnet - is from a group of silicate minerals that have been used since the Bronze Age as gemstones and abrasives. Garnets balance emotional disharmony and align the emotional and spiritual bodies. This stone also stimulates clairvoyance and intuition. Garnets are positive stones, they protect against negativity, evil, demons and false friends, or the so called 'wrong crowd'. Garnets stimulate long friendships, love, success and peace. If you give a loved one that has to leave a Garnet before they do, the stone will make sure that you will meet that person again some day. Garnets given as presents symbolize happiness and faithfulness. Garnet balances the yin & yang energies, strengthens the aura and harmonizes the Kundalini (a primal energy, or shakti, located at the base of the spine). Grapefruit - is a subtropical citrus tree known for its sour to semi-sweet fruit. Grapefruit is a good purifying fruit and it is often used in detoxes. Just drinking or eating half a grapefruit purifies the body. It is also associated with the element fire and water and the planets Jupiter and Sun.

Graveyard Dirt - the use of graveyard dirt isn't all that odd in many magical traditions. In some forms of folk magic, for example, the magical connection of the dirt is more significant than just being from a grave. What's more important is the person who's inside the grave. Dirt from the grave of someone you loved could be used in love magic, while dirt from the burial site of a very wicked person might be incorporated into malevolent workings or curses. In other words, the dirt from the grave is a physical object that corresponds with the traits of the person buried beneath it. In hoodoo, there are basically three ways that Graveyard Dirt is employ: in spells of protection, love spells, and curses.

Gold - is a chemical element with a symbol of Au (from Latin: aurum) and atomic number 79. Hag Stone - also known as Adder Stones, Holey Stones, Witch Stones and Serpent's Eggs, is a type of stone that has a naturally occurring hole through it and it is often found in streams and rivers. Though it is commonly found in Northern Germany at the coasts of North and Baltic Seas. According to legend, the stone got its name because a variety of ailments, all curable with the use of the stone, were attributed to spectral hags causing illness or misfortune. In folk magic traditions, the Hag Stone has a variety of purposes and uses. So depending on whom you ask, the Hag Stone can be used as a powerful protection talisman, protecting the bearer from curses, hexes, negative spirits, and harm. Hamsa - is also known as the Hand of Fatima, the Hand of Mary, and the Hand of Miriam. It is an amulet, depicting the open right hand, often with an eye at the center of the palm. It is used as a sign of protection that also represents blessings, power, and strength, and is seen as potent in deflecting the evil eye.

Hazel - is a genus of deciduous trees and large shrubs native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere. Hazel is an ancient Celtic tree of wisdom, inspiration, and poetry. Hazel nuts are eaten before divination because it would increase the power/effectiveness of it. Diancecht, the god of healing, invented a porridge that would cure colds, sore throats, and worms. So according to legend, it consisted of hazel buds, dandelions, chickweed, sorrel, and oatmeal. It was to be taken in the mornings and evenings. Wands of Hazel symbolize white magic and healing. Forked sticks are used to find water or buried treasure. If outside and in need of magical protection quickly, draw a circle around yourself with a hazel branch. To enlist the aid of plant fairies, string hazelnuts on a cord and hang up in your house or ritual room. Also using a couple of hazel twigs bound with gold or red thread in a form of a solar cross and carried on your person can be used for protection and good luck. The mistletoe that grows on Hazel protects you from being bewitched. And sleeping under a hazel tree will give you vivid dreams.

Heather - also known as Ling is the sole species in the genus Calluna in the family Ericaceae. Heather is feminine in nature and ruled by Venus and the element of water. It is also associated with Gemini and, accordingly, Mercury. It is represented by the Ogham letter Ura. It is associated with the God Nechtan Mac Labraid, the Cupbearer of the Tuatha De Dannan, guardian of the sacred well of Segais and husband of Boane, after whom the river Boyne in Ireland is named. Also, Isis, Osiris, and Aphrodite. Heather can be used in spells relating to new beginnings, and self-discovery, enhancing physical beauty and bringing a peaceful resolution to any conflict. It is also used at initiations. Keeping heather about the house will attract friendly spirits and will bring peace to the household. Carrying heather will attract positive energies, general good luck and protect against rape and other violent assaults, making it useful for traveling sachets. Burning heather together with fern will aid in magic designed to bring rain. The two plants can also be bundled together and used to sprinkle water on the ground for the same purpose. Hematite - also called Paint Ore or Iron Rose, is a mineral, colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red. The silver stone is tied to the element of fire and the planet Saturn, as well as the Sun itself. Hematite is mostly used for healing rituals related to inflammation and blood disorders, as well as treatment of infection and fevers. Holy Water - is water that has been blessed by a priest or a religious figure for the purpose of baptism; the blessing of persons, places, and objects; or as a means of repelling evil.

Honeysuckle - is an arching shrub in the family Caprifoliaceae, native to the Northern Hemisphere. The flowers have a broad spectrum antimicrobial effect against salmonella, staphyloccus, and streptococcus. Chinese herbalists have long recognized honeysuckle as an antibiotic herb for colds, flus, and fevers. Jade - also known as Jadeite is a pyroxene mineral and used mostly as an ornament. Jade is a stone of the heart. As such it is related to the Heart Chakra and has a beneficial effect on all heart related issues. So, of course, it can attract and enhance love of all kinds. In many traditions of hoodoo and folk magic, a lodestone is used to attract money. Feeding the lodestone with bits of shavings will draw prosperity to you. It is used to calm mental agitation and worry, relieve insomnia, and lower fevers. The seed affects the kidney, heart, and spleen. It is used for agitation, insomnia, palpitations, dry mouth, dark urine, and chronic diarrhea. In magic the Lotus is an all-purpose spiritual elixir. Burned as incense, it encourages the dead to seek their highest possible reincarnation. It reminds the living of their inner sanctity and divinity. Mandrake - also known as Mandragora, Satan's Apple, and so on, belongs to the nightshade family, Solanaceae. Mandrake contains deliriant hallucinogenic tropane alkaloids and the roots sometimes contain bifurcations causing them to resemble human figures, their roots have long been used in magic rituals, today also in contemporary pagan traditions such as Wicca and Odinism. Placing dried Mandrake in your home will ward off negative energy and prevent demons from entering. Mango -  is a juicy stone fruit (drupe) belonging to the genus Mangifera, consisting of numerous tropical fruiting trees, cultivated mostly for its edible fruit. Mango fruit is nutritious and delicious. It has lots of vitamin A, which reduces bad cholesterol, and is said to help prevent some cancers. The tree is sacred to Buddha and is said to be a good offering to any of the west African Orishas. Mango is originally from India, but became well loved in Africa once it arrived. Mango leaves have many magical and medicinal benefits. Both the fruit and leaves help to clean and strengthen the veins. The leaves are especially useful in balancing the pancreas. In magic, mango leaves are used for increasing harmony, balance, and a sense of contentment, especially in marriages. The juice facilitates love and fertility. This is because of the vitamin E and other beneficial compounds, as well as the energy of the plant itself. The dried skin and twigs are used for protection, but must be handled with care because the sap causes a terrible burning rash, and is very difficult to rinse off before it has done some damage.

Mint - or Mentha is a genus of plants in the family Lamiaceae. Mints are stimulant, aid digestion, and reduce flatulence. It is a classic for colds because Mint tea with honey soothes a sore throat. It relieves earaches when the fresh juice of a few drops of the essential oil are placed in the ear. A few drops of the oil in water, applied with a cloth, help burning and itching, heat prostration, and sunburn. Apply it directly to an itchy skin condition or sunburn. In magic Mint is placed in the home as a protective herb. It belongs to the sphere of Venus and has long been used in healing potions and mixtures. Mistletoe - is the common name for most obligate hemiparasitic plants. Mistletoes attach to and penetrate the branches of a tree or shrub by a structure called the haustorium, through which they absorb water and nutrients from the host plant. Mistletoe is considered to be a plant of male energy. The white berries are reminiscent of semen and it has feminine properties as well. However, it is associated with the sun and the element of air. It is also associated with the Gods Apollo, Venus, Freya, Odin and Balder. Mistletoe is associated with both Yule and Midsummer festivals. It is used in spells to attract love, for protection, for luck while hunting, for forgiveness and reconciliation, to increase sexual potency in men and to help conceive. Mojo Bag - in the African-American folk belief called hoodoo, it is an amulet consisting of a flannel bag containing one or more magical items. It is a "prayer in a bag," or a spell that can be carried with or on the host's body. The contents of each bag vary directly with the aim of the conjurer. They can be used to drive away evil spirits, keep good luck in the household, manipulate a fortune, and lure and persuade lovers.

Moonstone - is a sodium potassium aluminium silicate and it has been used in jewelry for centuries, including ancient civilizations. Moonstone is said in crystal healing to help calm responses and stress, and avoid overreaction. It brings hope, enhances feminine energies, sensitivity, intuition, and psychic abilities. It is also said to bring strong energies of abundance to one's life. Moonstone is a stone of protection, especially during childbirth, pregnancy, and travel at sea. It is a stone of calm and relief from emotional stress. It is also associated with love of all kinds. Moonstone is also used as a stand in for pearl, when pearl is not available. Moonstone is associated with the crown and third eye chakras, and sometimes with the heart chakra.

Moon Water - is water placed in a glass bottle (because the container is clear) during a phase of the moon and left outside to adsorb the energy. It is a pagan tradition and it is use as an energy booster. It can boost protection spells, cleansing, and it can help in empowering items. For example, some may use moon water in a tea to give them an energy booster.

Nazar - is an eye-shaped (made of handmade glass featuring concentric circles or teardrop shapes in dark blue, white, light blue and black, occasionally with a yellow/gold edge) amulet believed to protect against the evil eye. It is widely used in Turkey and Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. It is often hung in homes, offices, cars, children's clothing, or incorporated in jewelry and ornaments.

Omamori - are small tag-shaped pouches from traditional Japanese culture, containing a prayer, charm or wish written inside it. They are amulets (charms, talismans) commonly sold at religious sites and dedicated to particular Shintodeities as well as Buddhist figures, and may serve to provide various forms of luck or protection. Omamori are made sacred through the use of ritual, and are said to contain busshin (spiritual offshoots) in a Shinto context or kesshin (manifestations) in a Buddhist context. They should never be opened in order to avoid losing their protective benefits, and should be carried on one's person, or tied to a backpack, purse, etc. Amulets are replaced once a year to ward off bad luck from the previous year. Old amulets are usually returned to the same shrine or temple they were purchased at so they can be disposed properly, and are mostly returned on or slightly after New Year's. This way the shrine/temple visitor has a fresh start for the New Year with a new omamori. Also throwing an amulet in the trash is highly discouraged. They should not be placed in trash with other commonly discarded rubbish, but rather treated with respect. Usually they are burned. Burning the old amulet is meant to be a sign of respect to the deity that helped out the person throughout the year.

Onyx - is a banded variety of the oxide mineral chalcedony. Onyx is associated primarily with the root chakra. It assists with challenges in life, especially those caused by a drain of energy. It prevents the draining away of personal energy and can be used for protection from such. It also helps with grounding and controlling or eliminating excess or unwanted energies. It has been used for wound healing, childbirth and to increase stamina and self-control. Black onyx and red onyx are associated with the base (root, first) chakra. White onyx is associated with linking the base and crown chakras to have balanced energy throughout the chakra system. Other colors are associated with the related chakra by colors.

Opal - is a hydrated amorphous form of silica; its water content may range from 3 to 21% by weight and because of its amorphous character, it is classed as a mineraloid, unlike crystalline forms of silica, which are classed as minerals. Contrary to European beliefs, the Opal is seen as a stone of luck and a stone of hope and faithfulness in Asia. In Greece it was believed that this stone contained the spirit of truth and that it revealed the truth to its wearer. This stone is also seen as the stone belonging to the God of Love Eros or Cupid. The Australian Aborigines and Native Americans use the Opal to obtain a trance state and to bring about their dream-time and/or vision quests. Opals help diminish depressions, lethargy and strengthen the memory. This stone also stimulates spontaneous actions and strengthens feelings, loyalty and respect for love. Next to that this stone also stimulates good dreams and makes its wearer more creative. Parsley - is a species of Petroselinum in the family Apiaceae, native to the central Mediterranean region (southern Italy, Algeria, and Tunisia), naturalized elsewhere in Europe, and widely cultivated as a herb, a spice, and a vegetable. Parsley is associated with Mercury and air and masculine. It is sacred to Persephone, Venus and Aphrodite. Parsley can be used in a ritual bath for purification and in ritual incense associated with communication with spirits of the dead. Wearing or eating parsley is supposed to protect against drunkenness and increase strength, vitality and passion. Parsley is also supposed to protect food from contamination.

Pearl - is a hard object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusc. Just like the shell of a clam, a pearl is composed of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. Pearls attune the wearer to ebb and flow of life. They are calming and centering. They give purity and promote faith, charity, and integrity, truth and loyalty. They especially enhance personal integrity. They help one connect with the Goddess, the ultimate feminine energy, and bring love energy.

Pennyroyal - Mentha pulegium also known as Squaw Mint, Mosquito Plant and Pudding Grass, is a species of flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae native to Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Crushed pennyroyal leaves exhibit a very strong fragrance similar to spearmint. Pennyroyal is a traditional culinary herb, folk remedy, and abortifacient. The essential oil of pennyroyal is used in aromatherapy, and is also high in pulegone, a highly toxic volatile organic compound affecting liver and uterine function. Pennyroyal is of feminine nature and ruled by Venus and the element earth. Alternatively (that is, depending who you ask) it's masculine and ruled by fire and Mars. Because of its association with midwifery, pennyroyal is also associated with Hecate, Eileithyia and other Goddesses associated with the art. Pennyroyal is also used in healing spells and sachets. It is said that pennyroyal in your shoes will protect you from tired feet. Including pennyroyal in blessings before travel will provide the traveler with protection. It helps relieve blockages of the throat chakra and helps heal an aura damaged by addiction. Use in spells to protect your psychic energy from the negativity of others and to strengthen, cleanse and repair the aura. It is also used to protect against the evil eye and for spells for removing the evil eye.

Pentacle - is the shape of a five-pointed star drawn with five straight strokes and encased by an outer circle. The word "pentacle" is sometimes used synonymously with "pentagram". The pentacle is an ancient symbol with many different meanings and representations. One of the original is that the four lower points represent the four aspects of the world; (earth, water, air, and fire) with the fifth top point representing the divine spirit. Then the star is encircled by a wheel, representing the continual flow of life, or energy. When used in rituals, pentacles are drawn at the beginning to set a witches protection, positive power and is used to control the elements.

Peridot - is gem-quality olivine. Peridot is mostly known for its extreme powerful healing properties with regards to serious illnesses like cancer. The green stone dispels melancholy, depressions and diminishes egoism and jealousy. Peridot may be used to diminish mood swings and outbursts of anger and gives one that extra support after recovering from illness and operations. Peridot strengthens the immune system and diminishes weather related sensitivity. This stone positively influences the blood; it strengthens blood circulation and stimulates the making of bone marrow and white blood cells. Peridot positively influences the organs and glands; it may be used to diminish swollen glands, but also helps to distribute adrenaline in the body. Poppy - is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family Papaveraceae. Poppies are herbaceous plants, often grown for their colorful flowers. Poppy is considered feminine in action and resonates to the energy of the Moon and the element of water. It is suitable for any rituals involving Hypnos, Thanatos, Somnus, Nyx, Demeter, Persephone and for offerings to the dead, particularly those who died in battle. Poppies are considered useful in spells for fertility, agriculture, abundance, love, sleep, money, luck and invisibility. Write down a question on a small piece of paper, roll it up and insert it into a poppy seed pod. Place the pod under your pillow and your dreams will help guide you to your answer. Quartz also enhances thoughts, as they are a form of energy. Because it directs and amplifies energy, it is extremely beneficial for manifesting, healing, meditation, protection, and channeling. Due to its ability to balance, quartz is excellent for harmonizing and balancing one's environment. Quartz is also good for energizing other crystals. Rose - is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. Roses are best known as ornamental plants grown for their flowers in the garden and sometimes indoors. They have been also used for commercial perfumery and commercial cut flower crops. Some are used as landscape plants, for hedging and for other utilitarian purposes such as game cover and slope stabilization. They also have minor medicinal uses, such as rose tea can supply Vitamin C. In magic, roses are associated with Aphrodite, Adonis and Eros. Rosewater is a protective agent sprayed on clothes. Rose petals can be added to charms against the evil eye. White roses worn at weddings will bring happiness and security to the couple. Roses are also used traditionally in love spells.

Rosemary - is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region. Rosemary is used as a decorative plant in gardens and has many culinary and medical uses (the plant is said to improve the memory). For magical use, burn rosemary to rid a home of negative energy, or as an incense while you meditate. Hanging bundles on the front door will keep harmful people, like burglars, from entering. Ruby - is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum. The red color is caused mainly by the presence of the element chromium. Its name comes from rubeus, Latin for red. Ruby is a stone that stimulates love, both spiritual and physical love. It helps you to keep your relationship healthy, but also helps attracting new friends. This stone emits a potent energy that can be turned into willpower and deeds. Therefore Ruby is one of most important stones to aid in overcoming destructive patterns and addictions like alcoholism. In combination with a White Agate the Ruby may be used to help you quit smoking and break through the pattern of a nicotine addiction. Ruby diminishes depressions, melancholy and serious phobias, the stone activates its wearer and may be used in the treatment of lethargy. Rubies are less suited for those that have a temper or are dominant. Sachets - also known as scented sachets, is a small cloth bag containing herbs, potpourri, or aromatic ingredients inside it. Sachets are mostly used to give items or areas in the home a pleasant scent. They can also be an ornament worn on the body and used to absorb sweat, repel insects and ward off evils. Some sachets are even put under pillows to help one sleep.

Saffron - is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the "saffron crocus". Saffron is considered an aphrodisiac, but too much may be narcotic. It is given to reduce fevers, cramps, and enlarged livers, and to calm nerves, and is applies externally for bruises, rheumatism, and neuralgia. In India saffron is used ceremonially. Although water soluble, it is used cosmetically and as a sacred dye. Saffron is associated with Eos and with Venus and Aphrodite. It is also associated with the Sun and Mars, Leo and fire. For centuries, saffron has been associated with wealth, power and rarity. This makes it an excellent offering for any deity and is a traditional ingredient in crescent moon cakes made in honor of the Phoenician Goddess Ashtoreth. It is also useful in spells aimed toward wealth and recognition, to bring strength. It can also be infused into holy water and burned in censors for various rituals. An infusion of saffron is also said to help enhance psychic abilities. Rinsing bed linens in an infusion of saffron (or possibly a whole crocus) is said to help bring strength to the body while one sleeps.

Sage - is a wonderful herb that is not only good for cooking and alternative medicines, but has great spiritual benefits as well. There are so many types of sage out there but the main one, is White Sage which is used for Smudge Sticks. This is a ritual that you can do for many things, such as cleanse and purify items, people or even your home. If you're feeling low on energy and need balance this is a perfect way for you to refresh yourself or if you need to cleanse and purify yourself of unwanted spirits or bad and negative energy. 

Salt - as in ordinary household salt, is a powerful absorber of psychic energy. It doesn't channel this energy but absorbs it and holds it instead and it is this central property which accounts for its many different uses in magic. Salt may be sprinkled across thresholds and around the perimeter of dwellings, inside and out. This will keep spirits from entering or even trap them inside the building. 

Sandlewood - is the name of a class of woods from trees in the genus Santalum. The woods are heavy, yellow, and fine-grained, and unlike many other aromatic woods, they retain their fragrance for decades. Sandalwood makes a popular incense, as its calming effect aids meditation. Sandalwood powder is burned during protection, healing and exorcism spells. When mixed with lavender it makes an incense designed to conjure spirits. This fragrant wood possesses very high spiritual vibrations and is mixed with Frankincense and burned at seances and Full Moon rituals. Powdered sandalwood can be scattered about a place to clear it of negativity. Sandalwood beads are protective and promote a spiritual awareness when worn. Seal of Solomon - it is often inscribed with a "name of power", such as a God, a Angel, a Demon or a spirit. These talismans are used for specific purpose and intent. It's used in ceremonies and rituals for protection and spiritual control. A Magician often embroiders this symbol on their robes, on tools, and within a ritual circle. When worn as a talisman, the symbol represents protection of the wearer from negative or evil energies, against attack from spirits or demons. It also allows the wearer to conjure, command or control those forces which may attack him/her.

Schorl - also known as Black Tourmaline is associated with the root or base chakra, and is excellent for grounding excess energy. It is a well known as a purifying stone that deflects and transforms negative energy, and thus is very protective. It can transform and remove negativity from an individual or an environment. It is often used as an aura cleanser, and can help one attain higher levels of awareness. Schorl is also used for repelling and protecting one from black magic, and is often said to return the negative spell to the sender.

Silver - is the metallic element with the atomic number 47. Silver is connected to the Moon and because of that there are several different deities that are associated with it: Isis, Diana, Luna, Selene, Lucina, and Sophia. It may be worn to attract love and it is considered to be connected to the element water. Silver is also used to enhance psychic abilities, dream, and for protection as well. Silver stimulates the function of the glands and may be used to heal diseases of the endocrine system, like i.e. diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorders. This stone can be used for self-confidence, courage and protection (guards against negativity and psychics). Just carry it for clear thinking, accurate judgement, protection, and good-luck. Tomato - is the edible, red fruit of Solanum lycopersicum, commonly known as a tomato plant, which belongs to the nightshade family, Solanaceae. In Indian magical practices, turmeric is a spice sacred to the god Ganesha, which is why powdered turmeric is often used to make effigies of the god during festivals. It is even employed as an offering, and as an incense. Turmeric root also plays an integral role in some traditional Indian weddings, taking the place of wedding rings – a practice more western than it is Indian. In Western ceremonial magic, turmeric, like ginger, is usually attributed to fire and is burnt (either whole or in powdered form) as an incense to promote vitality, vigor, and to invoke power and banish spirits. Turmeric has been used since the Middle Ages to treat jaundice and liver infections, and it also contains an anti-inflammatory ingredient that fights arthritis and heart disease.

Turquoise - is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium. Turquoise is a stone that has been used abundantly in Ancient Egypt next to Malachite, Amazonite, Azurite and Lapis Lazuli, and the Egyptians called this stone Mafkat. They regarded Turquoise as the symbol of wealth and as a Stone of Life. The Native American culture also uses Turquoise generously, and it is seen as a sacred stone. The Anasazi, Apache and Navajo see the Turquoise as the stone that brings the spirits of the sea and those of the skies together so they may bless the hunters and warriors. But the Navajo also use this stone to promote the fertility of their animals and the Pueblo buried a Turquoise under their kivas, homes, to appease the Gods. Within the various Pueblos tribes the meaning of the Turquoise varies, it is associated with holy people by all tribes. Turquoise is a stone of personal growth and provides its wearer with courage and vitality. It also gives its wearer more self-confidence and makes depressive and reluctant people energetic. Turquoise may be used to dispel insomnia and it can also be used to protect its wearer against depressions, apathy and mood swings. Turquoise is an excellent stone for those who suffer from anorexia nervous, but also for those who suffer from bulimia. Turquoise is a stone that makes sure that the body is provided with all nourishment, vitamins and minerals. For those who suffer from ailments of the joints, like arthritis, gout, and inflammations of the joints, this stone may bring relief because this stone diminishes pain. Turquoise positively influences the skin and therefore it can be worn by those who experience skin problems like eczema and also acne. This stone also makes sure that scars heal nicely and it may be used to strengthen the teeth. Turquoise is a very powerful protector; it is a stone that protects against all evil, the evil eye, black magic and negativity. This stone provides luck for its wearer and attracts all that is good. Turquoise is also a friendship stone, it opens your heart chakra and makes sure you can open yourself up for new contacts and it also shields you from people that have bad intentions. Turquoise strengthens the intuition and clairvoyance. In magic the Turquoise is used for healing, wealth and love rituals.

Valerian - is a hardy perennial flowering plant, with heads of sweetly scented pink or white flowers that bloom in the summer months. Traditionally, Valerian was used more often for medicine than magic, but there are still some uses for it in spellwork. Valerian may smell raunchy, but it's also known as a plant of love and protection. Hang it in your home to protect against natural disasters, such as lightning strikes or fire. If you're a woman, pin a sprig to your shirt to attract men your way. Quarrels can be resolved in a home by placing Valerian leaves around the perimeter of the house. If you are fighting with a family member, try putting a sprig of Valerian in each corner of your home. Putting it over each door will prevent strife and discontent from entering – but be warned, some people find that the smell of Valerian reminds them of cat urine.Violet - is a genus of flowering plants in the violet family Violaceae. In Roman myth, the first violet sprung from the spilled blood of the god Attis, who killed himself for Cybele, the mother goddess. In other legends, Jupiter changed his lover, Io, into a heifer to protect him from the jealous rages of Juno – and violets sprouted up in the field so Io would have something to eat. However, today the violet is associated with tranquility and peace. The leaf offers protection from evil, and can be sewn into a pillow or sachet for a new baby. You can carry the petals with you to bring about luck and enhance nighttime magic. Or dry the flowers in the sun, and use them in an incense blend to bring about sweet dreams and restful sleep.

Wolfsbane - Aconitum also known as aconite, monkshood, wolf's bane, leopard's bane, mousebane, women's bane, devil's helmet, Queen of all Poisons, or blue rocket, is a genus of over 250 species of flowering plants belonging to the family Ranunculaceae. Wolfsbane has traditionally been used to protect homes from werewolves and can be used to prevent shape shifting. Bundles of wolfsbane could be placed around barns and pastures to protect livestock from predators (taking care that the livestock have no access to it lest they be killed themselves). Because of its baneful nature, it could be used in sympathetic magic to bring harm to another by creating "elf bolts" of sharpened flint dipped in wolfsbane juice and piercing a poppet for the victim with them.

Yew - Taxus baccata is a conifer native to western, central and southern Europe, northwest Africa, northern Iran and southwest Asia. Yew is associated with the planets Saturn and Jupiter and with the Goddess Hecate. Yew is a faerie plant and one of those plants that has a long association with witches. Yew is associated with death and rebirth and is appropriate for funeral wreathes and memorial plantings. Likewise, it is appropriate for decorating for Yule, as the winter solstice represents the cusp between the season of life and the season of death. Although the practice is not recommended, yew may be burned during spells to raise the dead. Their spirits will be trapped within the smoke until you release them. Yew is associated with divination and astral travel and anything that relates to communication or travel between realms. The wood is also very attractive in form and coloring. This makes it especially useful for making runes, Ogham sticks, frames for scrying mirrors, talking boards and other divination tools, but it should not be used for goblets or any dishes that will be eaten from.
