Chapter 12
Anastacia POV
I finally made it back to my room, eager to get some work done while waiting for the twins to wake up. My laptop was still on my desk from last night, so I turned it on and plopped into my chair. The hum of the laptop and the clacking of the keyboard were a nice distraction from the chaos downstairs.
Soon enough, my screen was filled with emails, reports, and all sorts of stuff. I got super into it, ticking off things on my never-ending to-do list. Time flew by without me even noticing as I powered through the assignments.
Every once in a while, I'd glance at my phone, waiting for a text or call to say the twins were finally up. The house was pretty quiet, except for the occasional noise from the guards outside or the old floors creaking.
I knew they'd come to get me eventually. Until then, I was content staying busy, losing myself in the routine and tasks demanding my attention.
It was midday when I finally heard a knock on my door. Closing all my tabs and shutting down my laptop, I got up and opened the door. Leo was there, fully dressed and grinning.
"Enzo's waiting for us downstairs, come on," he said, all energetic as usual.
I nodded, grabbed my phone, and stuffed it in my pocket. Following Leo down the corridor, we made our way to the grand staircase. The smell of lunch filled the air as we descended. Enzo was leaning against the wall, glued to his phone.
"Finally," Enzo said, looking up from his screen. "Let's get this over with."
I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything, following the twins outside to a sleek black car waiting for us. Leo opened the door for me, still excited but with a hint of anticipation.
The drive to the mall was uneventful, the car filled with the sound of Leo's incessant chatter and Enzo's occasional grunts of acknowledgment. I mostly stared out the window, letting their conversation wash over me.
When we got there, the twins led the way through the bustling crowds, confidently parting the sea of shoppers. They knew exactly where they were headed. We made a beeline for the fancy stores, clearly planning to buy me the finest clothes money could buy.
As we walked into the first shop, I braced myself for what was sure to be a long and exhausting afternoon.
I wasn't gonna be like some other bitches who would refuse to let her brothers pay for things. Cesco forced me to come all the way out here to go shopping, even though I despise it with a burning passion. So if he wants to drag me out here, I'm gonna take advantage of it.
Ok, maybe not that badly, but still, if I see something I like, they can get it for me.
Leo immediately started picking out clothes for me, his enthusiasm infectious despite my initial reluctance. Enzo hung back, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched his brother dive into racks of designer clothing.
"Try this one, Stacy," Leo said, thrusting a sleek black dress into my hands. "And these," he added, piling on a few more items before steering me toward the fitting rooms.
I took the clothes and headed to the fitting rooms, deciding to play along. If I was going to be here, I might as well make the most of it. I tried on a few outfits, and to my surprise, some of them weren't half bad.
"How's it going in there?" Leo called out, his voice tinged with excitement.
I opened the door, stepping out in a stylish black ensemble that hugged my curves perfectly. Leo's face lit up, but Enzo raised a disapproving eyebrow.
"Fuck no, that dress is way too revealing. Put something else on," Enzo grumbled.
"Thanks for your input, Lorenzo, but I'll wear whatever the fuck I want, so I'm getting this dress whether you like it or not."
Leo chuckled, clearly enjoying the exchange. "She's got a point, Enzo. Plus, she looks great."
Enzo sighed, shaking his head. "Whatever. Just make sure you don't get into any trouble wearing that."
I rolled my eyes, turning back to the fitting room. "Please, I can handle myself. Let's just get this over with."
After a few hours of clothes shopping, we made our way to the Apple Store. Leo insisted on buying me a new phone, iPad, and laptop, which was extremely unnecessary. Despite my protests, he just shrugged and said, "You can only have the best."
I rolled my eyes but didn't argue further. If he wanted to spend money, who was I to stop him?
Once we left the Apple Store, we headed to a nearby stationery shop to pick up some school supplies. Leo roamed the aisles, grabbing pens, notebooks, and binders while I trailed behind, uninterested.
"How about these?" Leo held up a few sleek notebooks.
I shrugged. "Sure, whatever."
With the items in hand, we moved to the checkout. Leo was enthusiastic, talking about all the stuff they had bought, while I just wanted to get back to the mansion and be done with this whole ordeal. I think Enzo felt a similar way.
Finally, with bags in hand and our shopping spree complete, we headed back to the car. Leo and Enzo looked pleased with their purchases, while I just felt relieved it was over.
Once we made it back to the mansion i went up to my room with the twins and a few guards following behind me carrying all the shopping bags.
Once inside my room, I closed the door behind me, shutting out the world beyond. Surveying the pile of bags strewn across the floor, I knew I couldn't simply ignore them. With a sense of determination, I set to work, unpacking each bag and arranging its contents.
As I sorted through the clothes, shoes, and accessories, my closet gradually began to take shape. Sweaters were folded neatly on shelves, shoes lined up in pairs, and dresses hung by color and style. It was a laborious process, but one that brought a sense of satisfaction as order emerged from chaos.
Lost in the rhythm of folding and arranging, I was startled when there was a knock on my door. Riccardo's voice filtered through the wood, announcing that dinner was ready. Glancing at the clock, I realized how much time had passed since we returned.
Tearing myself away from my task, I descended the stairs to join the others for dinner, leaving my partially organized closet behind.
As I entered the dining room, I slid into the familiar seat I had occupied the night before, relieved to find no interrogations or tedious rules directed my way. Riccardo and Francesco engaged in a conversation, most likely about their mafia.
Meanwhile, the twins carried on their own lively discussion, their banter punctuated by occasional bursts of laughter. Just as I began to relax into the rhythm of the meal, Cesco directed his attention towards me, inquiring about our shopping excursion.
I simply shrugged in response, not particularly eager to delve into the details. Leo, however, seized the opportunity to launch into a spirited recount of our day.
