somewhere in the middle of the week.

"so," hoseok began, nudging yoongi's side with a teasing smile. "what'd you do with jimin? don't think we didn't notice you two missing that night."

"nothing." yoongi replied, voice flat, not bothering to pay attention to any of hoseok's attempts to make fun of him. "we did nothing."

right as hoseok was about to pry further, taehyung burst into their office, calling hoseok over with his lips mouthing the words, jimin. dicks. now.

"rain check. on jimin. thank you." hoseok quickly told yoongi, who was now focused on his laptop. before hoseok stepped out of their office, he heard yoongi yell, "how about no!"

— — —

jimin is, of course, sleeping in the break room. the poor individual doesn't know what's coming for him. as he's very well familiar with the people of his department and the other department, maybe he should've seen it coming. unfortunately, he didn't.

hoseok snickered as taehyung quickly scribbled bad-looking dicks onto jimin's forehead, with his trusty sharpie. jimin moved a bit, here and there, but the pressure of the pen tip against his skin wasn't enough to break his sleep.

the two ran away after successfully drawing on their friend, letting out their previously held back laughter right as they stepped out of the room. jeongguk, mark and jackson give them some odd looks, but at this point, they don't bother questioning them.

and a little while later (an hour later, actually), jimin roused from his sleep. first thing he notices is his own forearm resting on his chest, though what wasn't so normal was the black writing across his damn skin and what the hell is that?

sitting up and rubbing his eyes with his other hand, his eyesight adjusted, letting him read the letters clearly.

hey, i know you're my soulmate and all, but can you stop drawing dicks on your forehead? i'm tired of scrubbing all day, especially because you're using a damn sharpie.

he let out a small squawk of a sort, quickly pulling his phone out of his pocket and staring at his slightly unclear reflection. he pushed his light blonde hair back and sure enough, his soulmate really pushed with the effort, as the smudges on jimin's forehead were barely visible. they were, only if you squinted.

and to jimin's further surprise, his phone screen lit up, revealing two new text message notifications.

TAETAE:

hobi and i are deeply sorry, hyung

HOSEOK:

don't tell taehyung i messaged u, but it's all his doing i swear

"immature shits," jimin muttered, shoving his phone into his pocket, stomping over to the break room door and slamming it open, scanning the office. he felt his sleeve roll down, covering his forearm as he spotted jeongguk standing up at the sound of the door hitting the wall,

"hyung? what's happening? what--"

"hoseok hyung. and taehyung. where are they?" jimin demanded.

"lower lobby," jeongguk answered hastily, "working on something... hyung, what are you--"

jimin ran. ran out the office, took the stairs, ending up in the hallway. he wasn't that angry, oh no, he just planned to chase them both down and make them pay just a teeny bit, similar to what he did to taehyung and jeongguk when those two had drawn dicks on his forehead last time.

taehyung will just never stop.

but just as jimin was about to burst into the lobby, a voice down the hallway called for his name. turning, he spotted yoongi walking towards him. and upon standing in front of jimin, the younger noticing how a frown was plastered on yoongi's face.

"hyung, you look annoyed." jimin observed, earning a stare from yoongi.

yoongi chuckled, examining jimin's expression. unknown to jimin, he actually had a deep frown on his own face. "you should speak for yourself, jiminie. you look pretty pissed."

jimin's frown faltered. "ah, sorry. taehyung and hoseok just... i was sleeping and they pulled some prank on me." he trailed off, giving yoongi a short glance, who chuckled in response and that's when jimin suddenly remembered, "oh. um, hyung... i finished page three."

"woah, i finished page four last night," yoongi smiled a bit, "we only have two pages left. say, since we're almost done and all, wanna get some coffee later?" he suggested casually.

jimin nearly lets out a choke but nonetheless, agrees and just like that, in a blink of an eye, he almost fully forgot about the smudged ink on his forehead.

— — —

parks were the definition of jimin's calm. plus, coffee. parks plus coffee. yeah.

currently, he was taking a stroll through the park, a cup of warm coffee in his grasp as he was in a light conversation with yoongi. they laughed every now and then, taking sips of their coffee, enjoying the scenery and laughing at the kids running around and chasing each other through the vicinity.

it's until a particular sip at the coffee, yoongi changes the conversation's direction, "so... tell me about your dance thing."

jimin notices it's only the third time it's been mentioned between the two-- the dance thing-- since jimin's two visits over at yoongi's apartment. jimin guesses that yoongi wanted to talk more regarding jimin's side, as they've been talking about yoongi's this whole time. which jimin doesn't mind, as yoongi was genuinely just an interesting person.

but still, jimin decided to act a bit clueless, "my dance thing?" he raised an eyebrow.

yoongi gave him a short nod. "your dance thing. if you don't wanna, then you can... i don't know? spill some secrets on whether or not you started off as a child piano prodigy."

jimin chuckled at that. "never telling you the truth."

"that just means there's something there," yoongi let out a small smile, "that confirms all my suspicions."

jimin laughed. "okay, okay," he said, "i'm seriously not a piano prodigy. which is why i was wondering if you could teach me this piece..."

yoongi perked up at that. "which is?"

"nocturne op. 32 no.2," jimin replied.

yoongi blinked. "that's sort of... a bit complex for beginners." he hummed in thought. "though, quite easy compared to chopin's other works." he glanced at jimin with a gummy grin (cue jimin's heart melting), "sure. you could pull it off."

"you think so?" jimin asked.

"i know so." yoongi answered, before letting out a cough, "anyway. back to the topic. your dance thing."

"oh, right," jimin smiled, clearing his throat. "it's not much, really..." he took a sip of his coffee, "but if you wanna know. i've been dancing since high school. like i said, i was in a choir before that. but... dancing. i loved it a lot. i still do, but my parents wanted me to be like them. so when i ended up not pursuing a career in the arts, it felt like... i lost a part of myself." a shiver went down his own spine. "well, it's still here. the part, i mean. i guess it just doesn't shine as much as it used to. i mean, i do gigs once in a blue moon. and my parents attend them, enjoy them... but i think i won't be leaving the sales department anytime soon."

"show me sometime."

"what?" jimin looked at yoongi, confused.

"take me to your gigs. or maybe, i don't know, give me a private dance session."

and even though jimin wasn't supposed to react that way, a crimson red dusted his face in embarrassment. "a private da..."

yoongi, upon seeing the younger's reaction, laughed. "not like that, jiminie."

jimin couldn't stop the blush so he decided to continue, "whatever... anyway, how about you, hyung? what's your story?"

yoongi stopped laughing and let out a small hum. "mine's not so different from yours. it's a small, similar world." he said. "well. i was an underground rapper back then, in high school. went into competitions so i could earn some extra money for the family. sort of well known. not that i'm bragging," he clarified at the end, receiving a nod from jimin. "i also started piano when i was younger, but when our family was finally financially stable, my parents wanted me to go down a more... ambitious path." a frown made its way to yoongi's face. "i don't understand why this career is somewhat better, though. don't get me wrong-- even though i spend sleepless nights on paperwork, i suppose i still enjoy it. but like i said, i put my stuff online. the rapping, the mixtape, the piano covers. i'm doing pretty well on the internet, so..." he shrugged, "my parents don't wholly support my passion, but they're okay with it. they just want better for me."

(please pretend that the mixtape in this story doesn't have the specific lyrics of the actual mixtape... e.g. yoongi's mentioned past experiences irl.)

jimin sips on some of his coffee. "well, they should support you fully." he gave yoongi a shy smile, "you're good at what you do."

yoongi, in return, gave him an amused smile. "i'm flattered, park jimin."

"no, but i'm serious," jimin coughs a bit, "you're really good. when you let me listen to one of your tracks on the mixtape, i searched you up... a-g-u-std. i also listened to bits of your mixtape. you really are a... um... min suga genius jjang jjang man boong boong." he flushed.

yoongi laughed, "okay, jiminie, i get it. stop with the compliments. you're actually making me blush a little, you turnip."

jimin, letting out a small giggle at yoongi's embarrassed expression, takes a seat on the nearby bench, followed by yoongi who immediately starts a new topic between the two. "okay... so, what do you think about the soulmate thing?"

jimin hummed in thought. "the soulmate thing... i can't say i'm not sorta jealous of taehyung and jeongguk. they're so sweet, i can't help but feel a bit sad about not yet meeting my soulmate. maybe i'm kinda excited? but for now, i don't mind the fact that i still don't know who they are."

"i'm nervous," the mentioned feeling was evident in his voice as yoongi spoke, "my mom used to tell me stories about soulmates. it's... nerve wracking for me. i wanna meet them, but..." suddenly, another idea made its way to yoongi's head. "...but, you know... if i were to meet someone else and genuinely loved them before meeting my soulmate, i'd... i'd choose them over my soulmate if i ended up loving them that much."

"not sure if i'd do that," jimin remarked, "but it's-- it makes sense. we should all love who we want to love. when you think about it, why do we have to follow the system?" he glanced up at the sky for a moment. "but i'd still want to meet mine." he chuckled.

yoongi merely hummed, giving a nod. and a few moments later, he's clearing his throat. "so, tell me, park jimin. what other activities are you particularly interested in?"

jimin gave him a curious look. "why are you asking?"

yoongi shrugged. "no reason. so we can hang out again, if you'd like?" he suggested. why. why did i almost say 'so i can take you out again.' why. he questioned in his head, mentally slapping himself for the ridiculous statement he would've replied with if he didn't stop himself in time.

jimin smiled, looking forward. yoongi, looking expectantly, watched as jimin took a sip of his own coffee before responding, "well, if you gotta know... i kinda like amusement parks. or i just like staying at home. roaming the streets, spending time in quiet cafes or libraries. the calm stuff."

yoongi smiled. "...good to know."
