nothing really happens in this chapter, so be thankful, because after the next chapter (a fully vhopekook one for those who enjoy the threesome conflict!) it's gonna be... angsty.
it's a saturday afternoon.
jimin stood in front of yoongi's apartment door, rubbing at the alcohol against his soulmate's warning on his skin, making sure that he wouldn't look messy or anything like that, before rolling up the sleeves of his black sweater.
he raised his fist, knocking lightly on the door, hoping that it was enough for his hyung to hear him.
after a few seconds, he heard footsteps approaching from the inside. then the door opened, revealing a very casually dressed yoongi, directing a small smile at jimin.
"hyung." jimin greeted, stepping in when yoongi backed off to the side to give him some space. jimin stepped into the living room and decidedly sat down on the green seat, and watched as yoongi entered the living room, a small hint of smugness mixed in with his smile. jimin raised a brow at the sight, smiling widely. "what's got you so happy this morning, hyung?"
"nothing," yoongi shrugged, standing next to the piano and slightly leaning onto its side. "just didn't oversleep this time."
jimin laughed. "what, were you excited to see me or something?" he joked, but was slightly taken aback by the soft smile that danced across yoongi's lips as he glanced down at the floor.
"who knows. maybe."
though before jimin could really say anything about it, yoongi ushered him to get on the piano stool and start practicing.

jimin groaned, slammed his hands onto random keys, an unpleasant noise of the smash resounded in the living room— enough to squeeze a wince out of yoongi.
"hyung." jimin whined, turning to the said male. "i give up. i can't."
"you can," yoongi encouraged, "if you want to. i mean, hey, you wanted to learn the song in the first place."
"this is too hard." jimin sighed.
"you were doing good for a while, you weren't following the exact tempo, but you did good." he smiled.
jimin grinned. "that's all i needed to hear." he stood, watching as yoongi gave him an odd look.
"wait, you're done?"
"yep."
"you're giving up?"
"yeah."
"why—"
"i'm okay with you thinking that i'm good enough," jimin answered. "besides, that just means i can come to your place again next week."
yoongi could barely hide the disappointment in his voice, so he coughed before he asked, "you're leaving already?"
jimin shook his head. "nope!" he replied. "got anything else to do today, hyung?"
yoongi thought of it for a bit. "well, we could watch a movie if you'd like?"
jimin's eyes sparkled. "sure!" he exclaimed
yoongi nodded, got up from his red seat and walked over down the hallway. jimin followed behind yoongi, who entered the bedroom, quickly switching on the light. there was a television across the bed, and next to the screen was a shelf full of movies.
jimin muttered an, "oh my god..." before he ran over, checking out all of the movies available. "wow hyung." he said as he glanced at the television— a flat screen one. "you're rich as heck." he stated, eyes going over all the movie titles.
yoongi shrugged, sitting down on the edge of the bed and setting up the dvd player. "sure." he smiled. "also, this is a pretty good decision. considering the fact that you like staying indoors as well..."
jimin glanced at him. "you remember." he stood, a dvd in his grasp.
"duh." yoongi said. "i asked you."
"i'm still touched," jimin chuckled. "what's the next destination after this?"
yoongi shot him a cheeky smile. "cafes, if you'd let me."
jimin rolled his eyes. "i'll think about it," he said and jumped onto the bed, next to yoongi on the edge. but not too close. jimin lifted his legs up, "my answer is maybe. we'll see."
"that quick of an answer?"
jimin raised a brow. "what, you want me to think about it some more and eventually say no?"
"i'd like it to be more of a yes, actually." yoongi clarified and stared as jimin let out a huff, a light shade of crimson covering his cheeks. "anyway, what movie did you pick?"
jimin turned to him and held the dvd up between them. yoongi lifted his legs up onto the bed as well, getting comfortable. he looked at the dvd, la la land. "oh, good pick. i haven't watched that yet."
jimin gaped. "how could you buy this and not watch it immediately?"
"with the whole project going on in collaboration with your apartment, i didn't have time." yoongi explained sheepishly. "but i heard good things about it. my friend, jaebum, loved it a lot, so..."
jimin shook his head in disappoint. "do you get emotional easily?"
yoongi frowned. "if it's too sad for my liking. why?"
jimin sighed. "i'll get you tissues in case."
as the movie began, they sat next to each other. again, not too close, but the silence was comfortable enough for the two to relax in each other's presence, their shoulders bumping next to each other every now and then as one of the two shifted in their place, eyes constantly focused on the screen and paying no attention either to the tips of their fingers brushing as their palms pressed against the soft sheets.

at the end of the movie, jimin's tears threatened to fall as he quietly watched the final scene. next to him, yoongi sniffed, a low whine coming from the older male. jimin snapped his head to the side, a look of disbelief focused on his hyung.
"hyung are you... are you crying?" the credits were rolling now, and yoongi couldn't help but let out a small sniff and a faint, only to cover it up by a loud cough.
"what? no. no i'm not. crying? why would i cry..." he shook his head. "it's sad, but, you know." he instead focused on the credits rolling.
jimin blinked. and laughed.
he shifted in his seat, gaze averted towards the screen as he rested his head against his hyung's shoulder.
"ah. you're too cute, hyung." jimin giggled.
yoongi calmed down a bit. looking at jimin from the corner of his eye and relaxing as well, he muttered, "what movie should we watch next?"
it was a long night.
— — —
yoongi woke up to the sunlight seeping through his bedroom window's blinds. he sat up, let out a little yawn and blinked at the sight of several dvd cases unorganized on the floor in front of his flat screen tv.
then he heard it.
the faint sound of one of la la land's featured songs. he narrowed his eyes at the door. city of stars. he walked over to the door, opening it quietly and standing in the hallway. it was more clear now. a slightly stiff version of city of stars. it was just at the beginning.
then it stopped. yoongi expected more of the stiff playing, but then it was smoother once it started again.
but what really shocked him was the voice that came along with the calm performance.
city of stars. are you shining just for me?
city of stars. there's so much that i can't see...
who knows? i felt it from the first embrace i shared with you.
then the singing stopped from there until the end of the next verse. yoongi stayed quiet, listening to the soft notes in the air. it was pretty good. and it was jimin. yoongi actually did mention how much he liked this song from the movie. it just gave so much emotion and he absolutely loved the rhythm, the lyrics, and such.
then the singing began once more, yoongi's heart beating a little too loudly. this is really... good... he can only hope he doesn't start crying again.
a look in somebody's eyes.
jimin's voice was a bit shaky, but yoongi loved how smooth it flowed through in the room, soft around the edges. it sent shivers down his spine.
to light up the skies, to open the world and send it reeling.
a voice that says, i'll be here... and you'll be alright .
i don't care if i know just where i will go.
'cause all that i need's this crazy feeling.
a rat-tat-tat on my heart...
the playing stopped. yoongi stepped forward, leaning against the wall of the hallway. there was jimin, with disheveled hair and a small smile on his face.
"think i want it to stay..." jimin whispered, fingers falling back from the keys. a sigh escaped his lips.
"are you trying to make me cry again?" yoongi asked loudly.
jimin jumped a bit, surprised to see his hyung standing there. "oh— ah, good morning, hyung." jimin frowned, "i hope i didn't wake you up? i'm sorry..."
yoongi shook his head. "no, no. that was beautiful." jimin blushed at that. "you're really good at singing, jiminie."
"thanks..." jimin stuttered.
yoongi glanced at the piano. "how'd you get the notes? damn."
"a bit by ear. i've watched that movie, for like, five times now." jimin answered. "i also searched up bits of it."
yoongi nodded. "oh. well, then. go use my shower and borrow one of my jackets if you have to."
jimin tilted his head to the side, giving him a curious look. "why?"
yoongi shrugged. "i'd like to take you to a cafe for some breakfast, if you don't mind." jimin's heart nearly falls to the goddamn floor. "check one venue off the list. how does that sound?"
jimin just lets a smile cross his lips, giving his hyung a short nod. "sounds perfect."
— — —
by the end of the day, yoongi sat on his bed, pen in hand.
his grip on the thin object tightened.
reluctance.
and how was that? "omg, why don't these nerds just get together already, they're flirting so much—" slow burn, that's why. it's gonna get worse in a later chapter, too. you're all gonna hate me for what i'm gonna do with yoongi.
