▪︎ 12 ▪︎ Animals
Wow, it's been so long since I updated this book. I am so grateful for all the comments I received during the time I wasn't that active. I am still appalled by how much attention this book received even though I barely updated it.
I have decided to change some of the banners here, but the format still stays the same. When I do eventually run out of topics, I will be doing some games here as well.
Also, if you haven't seen the announcement on my message board (which you should, it will explain everything), I uploaded a new schedule that can also be found in my bio.
Discovering Yourself will be uploaded every Monday and Thursday. Also, I haven't been replying to comments lately and I am really sorry about that. Since I am also quite busy, I will be replying to your comments on my off days. So like Saturdays and Sundays.
By the way, you should totally follow CLNighters (yes, I will never stop promoting them). We are hiring so if you want to be a part of the staff, you are free to do so. You must have a discord though, we don't just accept people, you must be good at what you do.
More info of the community will be found if you visit their wp account or if you have seen my message board. This community has really helped me a lot and I never had this much fun in a long time. It's seriously the best community I have been in.
So, according to my announcement, was the only one who answered. So the order of the chapter for Chapter 12 -14 is Animals, then Beauty and then Jobs.
If you also want to have a bit of an influence on the sequence of chapters, just comment on the future message board announcements I will have. I will now always put what kind of announcement it is before posting. So look out for "Discovering Yourself Announcement" in my message board for the future.

Ah, Animals, who doesn't love an animal. Animals are just interesting creatures that you really want to get to know. They can be on land, under the ocean or up high in the sky.
In this chapter, I want to know about what you like about animals and what animals in particular do you genuinely like and dislike. Don't be afraid to comment what you really mean. There isn't a need for a lot of personal information here so feel free to comment honestly in this chapter.
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
1 ▪︎ What is your favorite animal?
I don't really have one favorite but it's always between a panda or a fox. So when there are games or quizzes about animals, I mostly go for one or the other depending on who got them first.
2 ▪︎ Do you consider yourself an animal lover?
I wouldn't say I am a hardcore animal lover. I love animals but I don't profess my love for them everywhere I go.
3 ▪︎ Do you have a pet? What kind of animal is your pet? How old is it? Where did you get it from?
I used to have a dog but we had to give it to my aunt because my mom doesn't like keeping pets that much. I didn't really knew how old it was but I had him when he was a puppy. We got my puppy from my next door neighbor. They had a bunch of dogs and one of them gave birth. They had too many to take care of so they gifted my family a puppy.
4 ▪︎ What is it's name? How did you choose this name?
I named it Sam. I was really young that time and I named it after my childhood best friend. And yes, he was a guy but at that time, we just moved and I really missed him so I named my puppy after him.
5 ▪︎ What does it look like (color, breed, etc.)?
I might be hated for saying this but I actually forgot what breed it was. We didn't keep him for long, we had him for at least a maximum of two weeks before we gave it to my aunt. I was around 9 that time so my memory is a bit blurry. He already died so I can't check what breed he was and I don't have any pictures of him. I do remember him having white fur.
6 ▪︎ Who takes care of your pet?
Well, I used to be the one to take care of Sam but my aunt continued to raise him. As of now, I have only had 1 pet in my life.
7 ▪︎ What do you feed it?
We used to share the dog food that my neighbor had so that the expenses could be shared. They were also kind enough to lend us spare bowls, toys and doggy bed.
8 ▪︎ Do you play with it?
When I had Sam, I played with him a lot because I was just excited at the idea of having a pet. (Which is why I was devastated when they gave him away). I remember letting him free around the house because I didn't really like the idea of leashes and we would just run around my house.
9 ▪︎ What joy does your pet bring you?
They give me a sense of comfort. It's just a really nice feeling to have a pet. Although it's been a long time since I ever had a pet animal, I cherished the moments when I did have one. I was always jealous of my friends who had pets because it was like seeing them with a family member or an old time friend.
10 ▪︎ Does your pet know any tricks or understand any words?
I didn't have much time to train him because he was still a puppy and we only had him for two weeks.
11 ▪︎ Have you ever given your pet a bath? If so, what was the experience like?
I have and it was actually fun. I usually take his showers outside and use the hose outside. It makes for just some good fun water fights with my sister. Killing two birds with one stone. Sam was a really playful dog.
12 ▪︎ What are the pros and cons of keeping a pet?
I haven't really had that much experience for me to be answering this. But I can definitely say the pros is the company and a sense of security. It's also just really fulfilling to own a pet. The cons though is that there are risks of stuff getting broken at home and having messes at your home. There is also loud barkings (if you own a dog) and you have to really take good care of them because animals are very delicate creatures so I don't advise you to own a pet if you're really busy or if you don't have anyone to take care of your pet in your stead.
13 ▪︎ This is for people who don't have pets. Why do you not have a pet? Would you ever consider getting a pet?
Technically, I don't have a pet right now. I don't have a pet because my mom doesn't really want pets that much. I do want one in the future when I can live independently. I just really want to experience having a pet again.
14 ▪︎ For people who do have pets, what kind of pet would you like to have in the future?
I also technically had a pet so I would really like to try having a rabbit as a pet. There was a time when I was 6 where I almost had the opportunity to own one but like I said, my mom doesn't like having a pet. She thinks it's a hassle.
15 ▪︎ What are some animals that you commonly see in your country?
Dogs and cats are definitely the most common. There are strays almost everywhere I go. Almost everyone I met at least own a cat and dog. Frogs are also common in my area, not necessarily my country.
16 ▪︎ Have you ever been to a zoo? What animals did you see there?
I have only been to a zoo twice and they were both in Vietnam. I haven't been to a zoo for at least 8 years now. I remember seeing a bunch of elephants, lions and giraffes. It's been a long time so I don't recall most of it.
17 ▪︎ What animals do you think are cute?
Honestly, a lot of baby mammals are what I find cute. Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and pandas are the animals I just find adorable no matter what age or breed they are.
18 ▪︎ What animals do you think are ugly?
I don't consider any animal really ugly but if it's more of disgust then I would say frogs and that blob kind of animal that I see on the internet a lot. I forgot the name though.
19 ▪︎ What animal do you think is the funniest?
I don't know why but I find horses and dogs really funny. They can either be very majestic or very silly and I just like the faces they can make.
20 ▪︎ What animal do you think is the strangest-looking?
Albino animals are what I find strange but not in a bad way. It's more of an appreciation for how unique looking they are. Just the fact that they look so ethereal is what I find strange. They sometimes look like it would be impossible for them to exist.
21 ▪︎ What animals are symbols of your country?
The Philippine Eagle and the Water Buffalo (Carabao)
22 ▪︎ What animals are you afraid of?
I'm not afraid of a lot of animals but cockroaches do scare me a lot.
23 ▪︎ What are the most popular pets in your country?
Dogs, I think it might be the same for all around the world but I could be wrong. But dogs are the most popular one to have.
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
1 ▪︎ In your opinion, what is the best pet to own?
I might be biased but a dog is what I consider the best pet to own. They can be trained, they are good at protecting your homes, they like to bond with humans a lot, there are a lot of available resources to take care of them.
2 ▪︎ Do you know someone who owns an unusual pet?
I don't know anyone personally but I have heard of people having leeches, snakes, and spiders as pets. Although the last 2 are more cool to me than unusual but not everyone likes to have them as pets.
3 ▪︎ Did you grow up with pets in your home?
Not really. I wish I had. My childhood would have been a lot more memorable and fulfilling if I had one. But it's not too late for me to get one in the future.
4 ▪︎ Do you ever talk to your pet? If so, what do you say?
I honestly don't remember. I might've.
5 ▪︎ Have you ever ridden a horse?
No, but I really want to try riding one. I'm just a very curious person and I like to do a lot of things in my life. Riding a horse is one of them.
6 ▪︎ Are there birds or squirrels in your neighborhood?
We don't have squirrels here but we do have a lot of birds. I don't know what breed they are though. I tried to google search and I think the it's sparrows. I might be wrong though.
7 ▪︎ Do you ever bird watch?
No, but I do want to try. I don't really have a time for it and most of the birds in my neighborhood aren't always easy to spot.
8 ▪︎ Are you afraid of snakes? What is the biggest snake you have seen? Are there any poisonous snakes in your country?
I am okay with snakes in a zoo or being presented to me by a professional. But if I ever encounter one in the wild, I would be so terrified. I haven't really seen that much snakes. There aren't a lot of snakes in my area so I don't see them that often.
9 ▪︎ Are you frightened of spiders? What do you do if you see one?
The small ones that I see in my house I am not really scared of. A tarantula, maybe, depends on the situation. If I encounter some that are really deadly and poisonous, I would be freaking scared of them.
10 ▪︎ Have you ever been bitten or stung by an animal?
I don't think I have been bitten by any animal. I have never been stung by a bee either. But if I count insects, then yes, I have been bitten by a mosquito before but that's pretty much it.
11 ▪︎ Have you ever eaten any animal that people generally don't classify as food?
My dad had eaten a cooked snake once. I wanted to try frogs because apparently, they taste like chicken but I don't really eat that much exotic foods.
12 ▪︎ Have you ever been to a farm? What animals did you see there?
I haven't been to a legit farmhouse but I have seen farm animals in the wild like goats, buffalos and cows.
13 ▪︎ Have you ever been to a horse race?
No, they aren't that common here in my country. Horses are also not that very common in my area.
14 ▪︎ Have you ever seen a dog that helps people, such as one to assist a blind person or a policeman? If so, what did you notice about the dog? How do you think that dog was trained?
I have never seen a police dog or a guide dog in real life but I have seen them in movies. I haven't. The dogs they portray in the movies though always seem aggressive and well trained dobermans/ german shepherds for police dogs and it's usually labradors for guide dogs.
15 ▪︎ What is the largest animal you have ever seen?
I think an elephant is the largest animal I have seen so far in real life.
16 ▪︎ Do you prefer dogs or cats?
I am a dog person, if you can't tell.
17 ▪︎ If you could be an animal, what would you (choose to) be? Why?
I would honestly want to be a bird. I don't really care which kind of bird as long as they fly. I just want to experience what it's like to have wings.
18 ▪︎ Think of some people you know. Which animals do they resemble?
Umm, this is really hard for me because I have never thought of it and I'm too lazy to think of some of them right now. You can tag people here though from wattpad, any of the friends you have made and you can answer that.
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
1 ▪︎ Do you think that animals dream?
I would like to think they do. Maybe not all animals, animals with a brain might. Although, it might not be possible.
2 ▪︎ Are there animal rights groups where you live?
Yup, we have the PARC (Philippine Animal Welfare Society).
3 ▪︎ Do you think it is acceptable to test cosmetics on animals?
I do think it was for the intention of not getting actual humans harmed but it's still sad to think that animals can die from it and have died from it. I'm a bit 50/50 on that.
4 ▪︎ How do you feel about the use of animals for medical research?
Same with the cosmetics, it's only a thing because they don't want actual humans to be harmed in the testing. If they aren't that harmless, I don't mind but the ones that can potentially kill them really irk me.
5 ▪︎ Are there laws about hunting in your country?
Yup. Although I don't know the exact law but they prohibit the collection and hunting of threatened wildlife.
6 ▪︎ What do you think of hunting? Would you eat an animal that you killed yourself?
I have never tried hunting an animal but I never want to try it. I would feel too guilty to. I am okay with eating certain animals that I hunt only if it is a means for survival but if it's just for personal pleasure, I would never even touch the animal.
7 ▪︎ Do you think it's okay to free animals that have been in captivity all their lives? Why or why not?
Yes and no. No, because although I like animals being free, it's sometimes hard for captured animals to survive in the wild because they have lived their life being taken care of and have everything done for them. Yes as well because I feel like some animals can adapt so it's good to let them free and it would also be good for them.
8 ▪︎ Do you think people should buy and wear fur coats?
I feel like having real animal fur for clothes is just really cruel. I'm okay with fake fur though. I feel like if they died naturally, I don't see the harm of using their fur but if you purposely kill them for their fur then I do not approve.
9 ▪︎ What can children learn by having a pet? What can people learn from animals?
I think the reason why it was also nice to have a pet at a young age was because children have a sense of responsibility when they are really young. I feel like people can learn animal's instincts of survival. Animals are just really smart when it comes to survival that sometimes following their techniques can be really useful for us too.
10 ▪︎ Why do some people not like pets?
The most likely reason I can think of is that they are allergic. The reason that I can also think exists because I have a mother who doesn't like them. She doesn't like pets because she doesn't really want to spend all of her money taking care of it when there are people who can take care of it more than we can. She is also just scared of dogs and cats in general which was the main reason why we had to give Sam away. Even though he was a puppy, if he barks at her in anyway, she gets scared and literally runs away from him.
11 ▪︎ Does feeding an animal bring you happiness?
It does. I just like seeing animals eat because it makes me feel like I am doing something good.
12 ▪︎ If you saw a stranger drowning, and you also saw your pet drowning, and you could only save one, who would you save? What would most people choose?
You see, it really depends on the situation. If the stranger really can't swim, I would choose to save the person because my pet can actually swim so I don't think they would drown. I do think most people would save their pets though because they have had an emotional connection with them.
13 ▪︎ Can people be too attached to their pets?
Yeah, it also just sucks that most of them have a short lifespan so most of the time you will experience seeing your pet's death. It's just really hard to let some of them go when you have spent almost your whole life with them.
14 ▪︎ Is it morally right to spend a lot of money on pets, rather than helping people in need?
I mean, morally helping any of them would be good in general. But splurging too much on your pet when you can use it for someone else who needs it more is sometimes not a good thing. I mean, animals are needy but they don't need that much.
15 ▪︎ Do you think the most important thing by which psychopaths can be recognized is their attitude toward animals? Explain why.
Hmm not exactly but it shouldn't be overlooked either. I'm not that good with psychology though so I don't really have a concise answer for this question.
16 ▪︎ Do your pets have special behavior problems? If they do, how do you deal with those problems?
I haven't had Sam for too long to notice any behavior issues so I'm just going to say no.
17 ▪︎ Pets are considered to be a burden to most of the city dwellers. To what extent do you agree?
I can see why they would think that especially to those who own apartments.
18 ▪︎ What kind of master would you like to have if you were a pet?
I would honestly like someone who would genuinely care for me. Someone who would consider me as a friend and not just a pet.
19 ▪︎ Should we feed our pets unhealthy but tasty treats? What's more important, their health or their happiness?
I usually just give them what we had as food. I don't see anything wrong with giving them something unhealthy from time to time. I do think their health is more important because happiness can follow after that.
20 ▪︎ Have you ever hurt an animal? Was it intentional or unintentional?
I will be honest and I accidentally killed a baby bird. It's wings were damaged and It landed on my porch. I was still really young so at that time, I thought it was a great opportunity to have a bird as a pet. It died shortly after a few minutes of me holding it. I did search that baby birds can die easily so it might not really be my fault but I felt really guilty that time. I never hit or slapped an animal though.
21 ▪︎ Do you know of any websites for people that want to keep animals as pets? (I genuinely want to know as well)
Like I placed in parenthesis, I genuinely want to know because I don't know any.
22 ▪︎ Do you know any animals that you think are being treated badly or unfairly? If so, how do you think you can help?
I do think mice and rabbits, especially lab mice and rabbits. They are always used for experiments and then get discarded like they are trash. I don't think I can really make a difference though, even if I wanted to, I can't think of any realistic ways for me to help them.
23 ▪︎ What do you think would animals say about humans if they could make a documentary movie about humans?
I do think that some pet animals who are taken care of will talk really nicely and praise humans. I think most animals would make a documentary with how horrible we humans are.
