      To S.H.I.E.L.D and HYDRA agents alike, she was known as Silhouette, infamous for her quick escapes and penchant for lurking in the shadows. She was lethal and vicious in battle, with more confirmed kills than half of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents in operation. But she tried to cling to the fact that she was simply Katherine Baker outside of S.H.I.E.L.D, and that the world wasn't out to get her. Katherine Baker, who was scared and lonely and hell-bent on finding her family's murderer. And after narrowly escaping an attempt on her life by three HYDRA agents, Director Nick Fury decides that Silhouette needs to go into hiding for a while, while letting Katherine Baker have her chance in the spotlight. His idea for Katherine to lay low? For Katherine to be the personal babysitter of newly awoken Captain America, unfrozen after seventy years encapsulated in ice.

      So for six months, Silhouette ceases to exist and all that remains is Katherine Baker, who is almost as lost in this world as Steve Rogers is. Maybe that's why Katherine is slowly getting used to the task of easing him into modern New York, because he's just as lost as she is and somehow (selfishly) it comforts her. Because Steve isn't alone when she's helping him, and he ebbs away at some of the loneliness threatening to swallow her whole. And for one perfect period of time, the two of them can somehow be themselves, even in the mess of S.H.I.E.L.D.

      Until Nick Fury calls on the two of them with a proposition. Gather the world's supersoldiers and superheroes and vigilantes and mesh them together in a project called the Avengers Initiative. And suddenly the little bubble she'd managed to create around her six months of peace comes crashing down because they aren't Katherine Baker and Steve Rogers anymore. No, Katherine and Steve weren't anything more than Silhouette and Captain America. Two superheroes with no idea how to rest from war, no sense of self, and only each other to lean on.
