...................................................

The water that seeped in to his shoes froze his feet and Akesh could care less about it. He was running late. He had to make it in to his house before ten.

The road was blurry despite the giant orange street lamps that stood on the sides of it, resembling a trek of suns but blurrier and dimmer. The rain was pouring down like there was no tomorrow which made it almost impossible for Akesh to ride his motorbike as it made the road slippery. The wind was there to make things even worse as it made the crystal spears of raindrops hit him harder, numbing his limbs in to a coldness.

His damped shirt was glued to his tensed body just like his shorts and Akesh felt a shiver running down his chest every time the wind along with stone-strong raindrops whipped him.

The road was surprisingly empty for a weekend night and so far apart from a car and two lorries Akesh had not met any other vehicle on his journey from Gehan's place to his home.

And an anxious voice in the back of his head ordered him to speed up. It demanded him to get to his home as soon as possible. Or at least before his parents get home.

And the unauthorised, underage biker sped up ignoring the slippery road and the turns that laid ahead of him. He had lost track of where he was and how far he had come as the street lamps were being terrible at their job. And just when he was about to take the turn to the right a huge head of light flashed right behind him like a silver sun that was about to burst.

The light was so bright that it lit up the whole road as well as the warning sign on the side of the road that said, " SLOW DOWN. 17 MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS AND FIVE DEATHS IN A MONTH".

And he could hear the deafening, nevertheless threatening cry of a horn that yelled at him to stay out of the way.
And Akesh slowed his speed and rode to the right end of the road letting the lorry pass by him, showering him with muddy water that was coming from an overflowed drain on the side of the road.

Great!

Pays well for not checking the weather before sneaking out of the house. He almost wished that he stayed the night over at Gehan's place. But since neither Gehan's nor Akesh's parents knew about his visit they both knew that they would be asking for trouble by staying for the night.

There would sure be a lot of explanation to do as to why Akesh was visiting him without informing his parents and if his parents decided to phone his own parents who were equally ignorant that their teenage son was somewhere he had no reason to be at.

Akesh had always been the stubborn kid. No one would correct you if you called him the blacksheep of the family because that was what he literally was. He was the boy that rode his brother's bike without a license and exceeded the speed limits. He was the one that got in to a fight and then was hospitalised for a whole month and then caught Dengue and almost died. He was the one that got suspended the same year for causing trouble at school which resulted in him missing out an entire school year which made him redo it with the next class.

To be more precisely Nethuka's class.

He carried a big luggage of "BAD REP" with him and rumors about him wound up uncontrollably like weed taking over someone's abandoned backyard.

Some were disgusted by him. He tarnished the school name they said. And some desired him. He was a 'bad boy'. Something about him being unruly had sparked interest in some individuals. And they had many stories about him to tell.

Nethuka had heard all of these. Some he chose to believe and some he did not. Some rumors said that he had a tattoo on his back!

And Nethuka chose to believe it as it seemed like something that a dimwit would definitely do.

Scaring their own body for fun?
Sure! Why not!

And some said that he had never dated a girl and swore that he was a virgin. Which was straight up bullshit for Nethuka. He. With that body. No way.

Nethuka was positive that he switched between girls in a nick of time. Changing them faster than he would unfasten his belt. It was true that there were no girls that openly admitted that they had ever been with him. But as Nethuka justified it, "No one knows what happens behind closed doors." And who wanted to speak about a broken affair with an ill reputed guy?

All these rumours that flew around about him did not help Akesh with making friends with the new students. And added to that, even though it was not much, there was an age gap between him and Nethuka's classmates. So it was quite hard for him to make close friends with them. So he preferred to stick to his old friends.

And sticking to them promised him a life full of adventures and troubles like the one he was facing now. Because the moment he opened the gate and saw the white van he knew he had lot of explanation to do. His parents had made it before him.
