I kicked the grass below me as soft music played through my earphones. My mouth was dry and the sun was setting, but still shining straight onto me, not making me any happier.
The sun suddenly went away and an earbud was pulled out of my ear. "Boy, how many times do I have to tell you that it's dangerous for you to be out in the park alone like this?"
I looked up to see Momma Sylvia standing in front of me, in front of the swing set that I was currently swinging on. "Many times." I said.
Momma Sylvia sat down in the swing next to me. "Just because it's a neighborhood park doesn't mean that snakes aren't out here."
I nodded my head as I took out my earphones and unplugged them from my phone. I threw my phone and on the ground and the music played softly against the ground. "I know."
"What's wrong, Yooni?" She asked. "You usually only come here when you're upset or overthinking. I can tell somethings up. Spill."
I sighed as Sylvia nudged me.
"There's this.. person." I told her.
I wasn't sure whether or not if she knew I liked boys, but that was completely out of the big picture here. My problem is that I have no clue what to do. Momma Sylvia isn't usually the type to judge anyone at all. That's exactly why people come to her for advice.
Other than that, she listens well. And shes always popping up at the right times. She's like an angel sent to help people in need.
"You have a crush?" She smiled at me.
I hesitated before I shook my head. "Actually, I have no clue.. It's not technically a crush.."
She nodded her head and started to swing slightly. "Then who is this person, Yooni?"
"My ex." I lowered my voice in hopes that nobody else was listening to me. "They went to my old shitty school, but.." I frowned.
"But what?" Sylvia asked.
I groaned to myself. "It was freshman year that we were together. We were best friends since I could remember. Our parents were friends. We used to hang out all the time until one of us- well, they admitted that they liked me. We started going out, but.. Then my father got the chance to make money.. and he took it. He also took me. He took me away from-"
"From your ex?" Sylvia asked. "From your hometown? All the memories and places where you wish you could've made more memories?"
I frowned. "Yes."
Sylvia nodded her head. "Did you talk to your ex? What if they were sent specifically to bring the memories to you? What if this is good?"
"It's not." I chuckled.
"Why not?" She questioned me.
My chest started to feel tight as I remembered everything that happened with us before.
"Because—"
"Yoongi?" I heard a small voice come from a distance. At first, I was confused, but then I saw my best friend appear under a street light.
I smiled at Sylvia, who looked confused. "That's Jimin. I guess we'll talk later." I said. Sylvia finally nodded and unsquinted her eyes.
"Oh, hi Mini!" She stood up as Jimin walked closer to the swings. Jimin smiled back at her. "It's been a while since I've seen you."
Jimin hugged her tightly. "Momma!" He smiled brightly. "Why are you guys at the park?" He asked once she released him.
"I was just leaving." She explained as she turned to me. "We're not done here." She waved to Jimin after she whispered to me. As she walked off, Jimin took the swing that she was sitting in and replaced it with himself
"Why did you run off today?" He furrowed his brows at me as he began to swing like a little kid. "And why didn't you come to lunch? I made Hoseok save a spot specifically for you."
I scratched at the rips in my jeans and shrugged. "Wasn't hungry." I lied to him.
"Was it because of the cute boy?" He nudged me with a goofy smile. "Were you too shy?"
I rolled my eyes as I let out a breathy laugh. Little does he know that I'm currently dying over the fact that my ex boyfriend is the reason why I acted so weird today. Maybe I should tell him, but then he'd just make a big deal.
"You think he's cute?" I asked Jimin.
To be completely honest, I know the cute Jeon Jungkook, when he had soft cheeks and lowkey still had baby fat that outlined his face, and I remember we'd used to always play video games together and he would always beat me at the games, but then he'd tell me "Don't worry, hyung. You're still the winner in my eyes." But now? After I saw him today?
It's been almost three whole years.
Is cute really the word to describe him now? His face is much more defined with his newly found jawline and his hair has changed, definitely. It's changed from its bowl shape into a style that finally shows his forehead. His eyes still looked as soft and sparkly as ever, though, (even though they looked confused as I walked away from him.) What else could I have done besides leave him standing there?
I can't act like nothing happened.
I can't just act like we never broke up and I surely can't act like he didn't hurt me before..
I can't believe he thought I was going to actually talk to him like nothing has changed.
Everything has changed.
"Yeah, hyung. He's cute." Jimin said as if it were obvious, and it is. "And you guys would make absolute adorable babies." He said.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at the younger. "We're both boys—"
"You know what I mean, hyung!"
I laughed as Jimin pushed me. "Jimin, I'm sorry to tell you this, but I'm not dating."
"Not even the cute boy?"
"Not even the cute boy.."
