End of the First Day
"Looks like we got this next one together." Atsumu hums as he joins you at the class entrance.
"Alright." You smile. "How has your day been?" You ask as you both head inside to sit down.
"Boring." He deadpans. "And you seem to be having too much fun."
"Hm? You think so? I'm just making friends." You smile. He frowns at you lightly before sighing and looking at the board.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" An energetic guy comes in looking cheerful. He peers about before his gold eyes lock with yours and he swiftly comes over. "Can I sit with you?" He asks lightly.
"Sure." You smile tilting your head. "I'm ___.”
"I'm Bokuto! Nice to meetcha." He grins sitting beside you.
"Seriously?" Atsumu huffs and you both look at him. "You had other people you could sit with. Why ___?”
"Because she looked really nice." Bokuto smiles.
"I am nice." You beam.
"You… Physically can't be mean." Atsumu reminds you.
"Oh. Sounds like a fairy thing!" Bokuto comments.
"It is." You nod.
"Hm? But you're not tiny- well you are, but not like teeny tiny…" He tilts his head. "Oh! Are you a giant fairy?" His eyes light up.
"Sure. Let's go with that." Atsumu answers for you.
"So cool!" He gushes. You smile a bit, feeling warm from his presence. "I'm the son of an archangel. So we're meant to get along." He points to himself happily.
"Whoa. Okay!" You chime. Atsumu groans quietly at that.
Bokuto was a bit of a distraction throughout class. But he meant well, asking you all kinds of questions and getting scolded by the teacher for it.
Before long the introduction ends and the class is given free time to chat. "So what clubs are you going to be in?" Bokuto asks.
"Gardening and baking." You tell him.
"Eh? We can pick two?" His eyes widened. "If I join baking can I eat what you make? Oh but I want to join magic sports too." He hums in thought.
"You can do both, Oikawa is." You assure lightly.
"Awesome!... Who's Oikawa?" Bokuto tilts his head.
"A demon that was in my last class. He said I should watch magic sports some time." You hum.
"Ohhh! Hey hey hey! We should watch it together! I'll teach ya!" He beams.
"Wait wait wait. Ya suddenly interested in magic sports?? I can teach ya a thing or two!" Atsumu jumps in on the conversation now.
"We should all hang out then!" Bokuto gasps excitedly.
"Sure. Sounds fun." You smile.
"We can do it at my place." Atsumu hums.
"Ooh yeah. I'll bring snacks!" You beam.
"Oh no you don't. You wont pay attention if you and Samu get into another baking competition." Atsumu rejects.
"Then I'll bring snacks." Bokuto chuckles while you deflate. "So who's your last class of the day?" He asks you.
"Mrs. Gold." You hum checking the time. It was nearly time to go to it actually.
"Me and Osamu will be with ya then." Atsumu rumbles. You blink at him at that.
"Oh… Tendo too." You tell him. He pauses before frowning heavily.
"What's with that imp anyway? I don't like 'im hanging around ya. Feels wrong." He says, eyes darkening a bit.
"I trust Tendo. And… I don't want to leave him alone again." You frown back at him. He meets your gaze before scoffing and looking away.
"You're too soft." He grumbles.
"Really?" Bokuto hums poking your cheek before gasping. "She is soft!!" He rubs your cheek. "I want to cuddle you!"
"Ah… N-No please." You blush lightly.
"Yeah dude. Ya just met." Atsumu scolds him.
"But her skin is so soft. I wanna rub my cheek on her." Bokuto pouts.
"I know she's soft. But ya can't go around cuddling up to people just cuz they're soft." Atsumu points out.
"Fine… let's be best friends okay?" Bokuto smiles at you.
"Ah. Okay." You nod.
"... Suddenly I have a headache." Atsumu covers his eyes.
"Maybe you should take a nap… I'll lend you my hoodie." You murmur to him in concern.
"I-I don't need ya babying me. I'm fine." He scoffs.
"He's okay ___. I hear angry guys always have headaches." Bokuto comments.
"They must know you too then." Atsumu grumbles.
"Atsumu, be nice." You frown at him while Bokuto tilts his head, innocently lost.
The bell rings and you head out with Atsumu, neither of you speaking as you head to the last class of the day.
"___!" Tendo's voice chimes before he collides into your back, arms wrapping around you cheerfully. "I missed you! Did you have fun while we were apart?" He gushes. Your body had stiffened completely, a slight coldness sweeping over your face, as he cuddles his cheek against you. But. You felt strangely happy.
"Yeah. You seem to be feeling better. Did you have fun?" You ask while Atsumu's lip curls at the imp.
"Not at all. I was bored… But just now, when I saw you I felt so giddy. I really missed you." He hums as he releases you. He gives a soft smile as you look back at him.
"Aw… Tendo." You look away with a small smile, feeling your cheeks warm.
"Heh. Can I sit with you in our next class too?" He asks.
"Of course. Hey 'Samu." You wave to the silver haired guy as he waits near the classroom entrance. He smiles lightly and comes to greet you three.
"Hey… Thought you might be coming along Tendo, Atsumu suddenly got annoyed." He rumbles.
"Yeah. Looks like we're all in the same last class." Tendo hums, glancing at Atsumu. "You really don't like me huh?" He teases.
"... ___ step away from the imp." Atsumu breathes, fire flickering over him.
"No." You frown, moving between them. "I mean it Atsumu. If you hurt Tendo I'll never forgive you."
"... It was just a joke. Don't be so serious." Atsumu sighs looking away before heading in.
"He needs to workshop his jokes then." You huff.
"... Thanks ___.” Tendo murmurs, leaning over and touching your hand. You blink and look at him, giving him a smile.
"Come on. Let's find a seat." You tell him before going in, finding a seat near the back with him. The twins sitting on either side of you.
Mrs. Gold comes in soon after. She's a short scrawny woman with light green hair and thick rimmed glasses. She wears a yellow lab coat and peers over the class.
"Hello. I'm your Instincts and Habits teacher. This is my first day teaching this subject so please bare with me." She breathes tapping a pen to her then as her electric yellow eyes sweep over the class. "Let's see. To begin with… Can someone tell me an instinct of a random creature?" She requests.
Surprisingly, Atsumu's hand goes up. "When near prey, an imp's teeth instinctively sharpen to a point." He states loudly, making Tendo duck his head as a few gazes peer at him. You frown, feeling a chill run down your spine as your earlier suspicion comes to mind. You glance at Tendo, feeling a pang as you see him looking down with a look of guilt and touch his hand making him shift closer to you.
"That's correct! Though I wish you wouldn't point the terrifying instincts out, Mr. Miya." She peers at her roster, eyes lighting up. "Oh! Another hybrid! Where's ___!?” She gasps.
"Here." You raise your hand carefully, making her pause, glancing between you and Tendo.
"Peculiar… Ah but you're the only one of your kind in existence! Tell me, does your blood run cold being next to the fairies natural predators?" She inquires curiously.
"... Not always. Only when he surprises me." You admit, meeting Tendo's gaze for a moment.
"I see! Interesting~" She sings before peering at the roster again. "Someone give me a habit of a random creature now."
"Kitsune's that get territorial make a nest of the objects they value most." You say after raising your hand. Atsumu twitches while Osamu purses his lips.
"Well-"
"Imps have a habit of circling their prey three times before killing." Atsumu inputs with a frown, both of you staring each other down.
"Yes but I said-"
"Kitsune's have a habit of burying things of the ones they like." You shoot back.
"I told you that's not why I did that!" He jabs a finger at you in annoyance, cheeks darkening.
A zap makes everyone stiffen and look to Mrs. Gold. "Now now. You two wouldn't happen to be fighting in the midst of class would you?" She tilts her head with a fanged smile that made you shiver.
"W-We weren't fighting, right ___?" Atsumu manages.
"Nope. No fighting here." You agree, shaking your head.
"Good! Now then. Let's get started with class."
You made sure to write down whatever you heard, this class would probably be your most important one.
The bell rings and you stand up and stretch. Tendo looks up at you quietly for a moment before smiling.
"Club registration now?" He guesses.
"Yep. Let's go." You smile back.
"Baking first right?" Osamu hums.
"Mhm." You lock eyes with the grey haired kitsune. "Hope you're ready."
"Oh, sweet little fairy. I am." He smirks.
"... Stop." Atsumu puts a hand over both yours and Osamu's face. "Not even near a kitchen and you two already wanna have a cook off." He sighs.
"Pfft. That was cute." Tendo chuckles.
"Let's go." Atsumu says taking the lead.
"So grumpy today." You comment.
"He's just really jealous." Osamu states.
"I can hear you! And I'm not!" Atsumu snaps.
"Sure." You and Osamu nod.
"So close." Tendo hums with a head tilt. You peer at him to catch a lonely look in his eye. You pause and reach over, grasping his sleeve and making him blink back and meet your gaze. You give a small smile and tilt your head.
"Are you excited, Tendo?" You breathe. He pauses and smiles back softly.
"Yes." He assures.
Soon you're able to register for the Cooking and the Gardening club, making sure your days matched with theirs.
"The clubs will start tomorrow. We'll be starting the cooking club then." Tendo tells you as he walks with you and the twins to the exit.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then. Sleep well okay?" You say happily.
"I'll try. You sleep well too… I can't wait to see you tomorrow." He rumbles, stopping just off campus with a wave as you and the twins head down the sidewalk.
"Finally." Atsumu sighs, making you and Osamu look at him. "That Imp is sketchy. Don't trust him." He scowls at you.
"He can't help what he is Atsumu. Don't be rude." You frown back.
"I trust ___'s judgement." Osamu states.
"Tch. Just don't come crying to me when yer little 'friend' takes a bite outta ya." Atsumu huffs.
"You don't have to worry about that." You insist.
"We'll see. Though yer folks will agree with me." Atsumu informs.
"They don't need to know he is an imp." You murmur.
"Oh? Is that dishonesty coming out of a fairy?" Atsumu gasps looking at you with a frown.
"No. I just… Don't want to worry mom." You sigh looking down. The twins share a glance with one another before Atsumu sighs in frustration.
"Fine. Fine! But don't expect me to be nice to him!" He warns.
"... You can be nice?" You blink in surprise.
"He can't." Osamu agrees.
"Shut it! Stop ganging up on me!"
-+-(+)-+-
Tendo was still in the same place you had left him. Most of the other students were out of sight now. "Sleep well huh?" He rubs his neck. "I should probably move out of the briar patch then… But where else can I sleep around here…" He wonders peering about before memories of today come back to him, bringing a small smile to his lips. "Ah well… I'll figure something out. I'm right where I want to be anyway."

"Welcome back!!" Your mom zooms out of the house, circling you and the twins excitedly. "How did it go? Did you make new friends?" She asks excitedly, zipping about in front of you.
'I have the cutest mom.' You smile watching her. "Yeah. I made more than I thought." You tell her. She squeaks happily at that.
"I'm so happy for you my little darling! Let's go shopping! You're not tired right? We can bring the twins too!" She takes your pinky in her grasp happily.
"Hmm. Why don't you two just go? A mother and daughter outing isn't something you two have done yet." Osamu suggests. You and your mom gasp at the idea.
"You're right!" She says. "What do you say ___?” She asks you hopefully.
"Yeah. Let's go." You smile back.
"Yes!! Go change!" She chimes, zipping back inside.
"Have fun." Osamu pats your back.
"Don't go making anymore troublesome friends while you're out." Atsumu pinches your cheek.
"Ow… See you later guys! Bye!" You tell them, rushing inside. You go upstairs to your bedroom and change out of your school clothes. You get ready and head downstairs.
"Over here my precious one!" Your mom chimes at the door next to the kitchen.
"Mm? We're using the portal gate?" You tilt your head curiously.
"Mhm! Safest and quickest way to the elven shopping sector." She nods, struggling with a golden key to the door. You reach over and take it from her. "Thanks." She smiles as you turn the key, watching the etchings around the door light up before opening the door to pitch black.
"Here, don't forget the money." Your father passes you a pretty leaf wallet. You thank him before looking at the pitch black again, your mom hovering close to it.
"... This is safe right?" You peer at her.
"Yep! Come on! You're going to love it." She beams flying through. You blink and follow after her, stepping through the pitch black onto a bustling street, lit by white orbs that sat in the trees around the marketplace. You pause, stiffening as a trio of racoons run past your feet.
"This way." Your mom waves at a stall.
"Okay." You go toward her, minding your steps for more critters before glancing at hooves that step into view. You look over, stiffening as a large buck looks down at you. "Ah. Excuse me." You bow your head before hurrying to your mom. "So many animals."
"Yeah. The elves and the woodland creatures get along great." She smiles. "They walk around here with no fear and everyone is respectful to them… Well almost everyone."
"This is really pretty though. Looks like a Fairytale." You tell her.
"It kinda is." She points out. "Oh! Look at that!" She gasps flying over to a clothing store window, which was part of a large oak tree.
"Hm? Oh…" You blink in awe as you peer at the elegant looking clothes. "Pretty…" You breathe.
"Mhm. Elves and fairies usually have similar tastes! But since you're too big I figured we could find something for you here." She says happily.
"Welcome! What do we have here?" A tall man with messy blond hair comes to great you both, his ears pointed and curled at the tip. You peer over his attire. He was the definition of elegant, and he must be the one in charge of the shop.
"Hello. I want to get my daughter a new outfit for school." Your mom tells him happily.
"Hi." You wave as he blinks between you two.
"Ah. Sure thing." He nods sizing you up before peering about his shop. "Well, I have things in the kid's section in your size. I hope I don't offend but. Elves are much bigger than you." He says guiding you over to a rack.
'These are kid's clothes..??' You look them over. They were just as elegant, but a bit more modest. 'Even the hoodies look elegant…' You think, feeling over one. The fabric felt a bit light but very soft.
"I can change the color to your preference with a little magic." He informs.
"Really? That makes this so much easier." You blink before picking out the outfit you want before asking for your preferred colors. He nods, the color spreading over them as if sucking in the color from the air. "Oh, I really like these." You smile.
"I'm glad." He rumbles.
"Is there anything else you want?" Your mom asks you, making you peer about. You blink and go over to the bigger clothes, glancing about. Tendo was suddenly on your mind now. You go over to the hoodies again, picking out one. "Can you make this one black please?" You hold up the hoodie that would look like a dress on you.
"Sure." He hums making it gradually change color.
"Ready to pay now?" Your mom asks.
"Yeah." You nod and the elf takes the clothes from you gingerly, guiding you to the register. You open the wallet and your mom removes the crystal like card from it.
"Here we go." She gives it to the elf to insert into a crystal. It shimmers briefly before he gives it to her.
"And here you are." He passes you the bag before giving your mom a smile. "May I just say I admire your courage for taking on a different species foster. I wish you the best." He dips his head.
"Huh? Oh! Hehe. No, she's really my daughter." She giggles. "Come on ___, let's check the potions shop." She adds fluttering out after giving you the card again. You blink and follow after her curiously, almost tripping over a duck on your way out.
"I'm sorry." You murmur to it before glancing around. Your mom waves from in front of a blackened shop. "Wow." You breathe, joining her.
"The potion shops are usually very helpful." She tells you as you open the door, leading you in. The shop smelt of burnt wood and sage.
"Welcome." A warm voice reaches your ears and you peer at the counter at the beautiful woman at the counter. Her luminous lavender eyes watching you both calmly.
"Wow." You whisper.
"Welcome." A familiar voice echoes the shop keeper as someone passes through the aisle with an arm full of vials.
"Hm? Oikawa?" You tilt your head as you catch sight of a familiar tail. It stiffens before it disappears, the clatter of glasses being quickly set down sounds before he peers out from behind a shelf in surprise.
"Oh! Hello ___! You can call me Tooru here. It'll be confusing to use the family name." He gives a fanged grin.
"Okay. So that's your mom? She's beautiful." You breathe.
"Yep. I was about to say the same about yours." He rumbles coming and holding out his hand to her. "Tooru Oikawa, it's a pleasure to meet you. I had the pleasure of befriending your daughter today."
"Aw! What a sweetie. I'm happy to meet you officially." She shakes his index finger. "He's usually busy helping here or at his sports club." She tells you.
"Oh right. You come here often, sorry I didn't recognize you." Tooru says sheepishly.
"That's alright you're such a busy one." She hums, "Oh, but do you have time to show ___ some of these? I'd like to speak with your mother for a moment."
"Of course." He rumbles before smiling at you. "Come on I'll show you the ones I make." He adds, leaning over and taking your hand without hesitation, guiding you to the shelves as your mom goes to speak with the shopkeeper.
"Oh… Thanks Tooru." You tell him, making him hum, tail swishing behind him.
"Aw. Your voice sounds so cute saying my name." He chuckles. "Now pay attention okay?" He hums stopping at the shelf. "Just so you know, the colors don't always mean what you think."
"So that pink one isn't a love potion?" You point.
"Nope. That's a sleep potion, it's pink thanks to fairy dust." He hums. "This opal colored potion is a type of love potion. Specifically this one is to make someone fall into 'puppy' love with you." He informs, lifting the flask.
"It's really pretty. Did you make that one?" You ask.
"Yep. Love potions are my specialty as well enhancement potions that double the benefits of a single workout." He smiles.
"Whoa. So you're really strong too?" You gasp. He chuckles, tail swishing more before peering at you.
"Mhm. I have to be, there's someone I wanna beat… Well, a bunch of people really." He comments.
"I see." You blink at him. He pauses before meeting your gaze.
"Sorry, got you curious huh?" He hums with a head tilt.
"Kinda… What does this position do?" You point at an inky black potion.
"That's to spray on someone and turn them into a squid." He states.
"Eh? That's awful. I wouldn't wanna be a squid."
"Yeah. Usually those that are turned into them are eaten. A bit of a delicacy for some creatures." He nods in agreement, making you shudder.
"Oh…" You grimace.
"Haha. You're really cute." He chuckles. "Say, I have an idea, how about we go on a-" Someone hits the back of his head, making you stiffen in surprise.
"Stop hitting on the customers." The guy growls.
"Ow… Iwa-chan!" Oikawa whines, holding his head.
"Are you okay Tooru?" You gasp worriedly.
"He's fine…. Sorry about that." The newcomer assures you.
"Oh, it's okay. I know not to take him seriously." You tell him with a smile.
"Oh?" He raises an eyebrow.
"But I was serious…" Oikawa grumbles.
"I'm Hajime Iwazumi, nice to meet you." The newcomer holds out his hand to you which you take.
"Nice to meet you too, I'm ___." You hum.
"You're the hybrid he mentioned… Still just because you're a little bit of a fairy doesn't mean you should let your guard down. He's an incubus after all, doesn't always need to rely on magic." He forewarns.
"Don't make me sound so creepy!" Oikawa complains.
"I'll keep it in mind, thanks for the warning." You tell him with a chuckle, he seemed nice.
"Wait ___. Really you don't gotta believe him, he's a demon too." Oikawa says quickly.
"I'm the son of a fallen angel, and a demon." Iwazumi informs.
"Oooh. You sound strong." You breathe. He blinks before smiling in response.
"___~ I got what we need, did you want to look around more?" Your mom chimes, flying over, grasping the vial she was carrying.
"Ah. I think I'm okay for now." You murmur, carefully taking the vial.
"Okay we can head back. Thank you for keeping her company." She tells the guys.
"Anytime! Please come back soon." Oikawa tells you both happily.
"Be careful on your way home." Iwazumi nods.
"We will, come on ___.” She says fluttering for the door.
"Ah but, don't we need to pay?" You ask.
"No need sweetie. An awakening potion is always free." Oikawa's mother assures.
"Awakening potion?" You echo.
"It's given to most of the students before their first year of highschool to unlock their magic." Iwazumi tells you.
"I'm excited to see what you can do." Oikawa rumbles.
"Oh. Okay, I hope I don't let you down." You smile before following your mom out and across the street to a stone pillar with a door etched into it.
"Alright, put in the key to connect it to our gate." She hums as you situate the things you were carrying before taking out the key.
"Okay." You nod doing so. A light pierces around the door and the knob clicks, letting you turn it and pull it open.
"Alright, let's go home." She flies through and you follow, closing the door behind you before stepping out to close the next door.
"Welcome back." Your father greets.
"Hey dad." You smile.
"Did you have fun?" He inquires.
"Yeah. I ran into some schoolmates." You respond.
"That's good, go drop off what you got in your room, we're having an early dinner so you can practice after you take the awakening potion." He tells you.
"Okay… But I thought I was already using magic?" You look at your mom.
"Well yes. But you have a lot more Mana than what you use now. The potion just helps open the flow gate more." She tells you.
"Oh. Okay then." You nod before going upstairs to put the new clothes in the wash, pausing as you pull out the big hoodie. "Ah… Maybe it'll be weird for him if I suddenly gave him a gift… What should I do? Would Tendo mind? What if he thinks it's odd…" You worry quietly with a blush. "I'll just put it in my backpack after I wash it just in case." You decide putting it in the basket with the rest of the clothes and taking it downstairs to wash.
After dinner you drink the potion before your mom leads you to the backyard where dozens of orbs sat in a circle.
"Hm? What's this?" You ask.
"To find your element, or two." She tells you, motioning you to sit in the center of the circle. "Though having two is uncommon." She hums as you sit down. She moves back beside your father.
"Alright." You nod peering around at the orbs that seemed to contain a different element per one.
"Go ahead and bring in the Mana like I taught you." She tells you.
With a nod you close your eyes, focusing on the energy around you before breathing in deeply feeling the energy swell and wrap around you. The wind seems to pick up as well. You open your eyes to see that several of the orbs had lifted up off the ground. You blink and look to your parents in surprise, only to find a worried look on your mom's face and an uneasy look on your dad's.
The looks make you feel a bit of unease as well, losing focus and making the orbs drop to the ground. "Mom..?"
"Oh… Don't worry hun. You did good but…" She flies over with an uneasy smile. "Something like this… A bit worrisome. Could you maybe pick two elements to work on?"
"Um… Okay." You nod.
"Good. And be careful, it won't be easy if others find out." She tells you lightly. You blink at her, for the first time today feeling like you were outcast from everyone else.
"Mom… Is… There something wrong with me?" You ask quietly.
