Chapter 25

(Your P.O.V.)

"So, What's up?" I asked getting ready for Sky's and Ross' harsh words. Instead I'm met with a very harsh hit to the head.

"Ow What the hell?!" I shout, touching my head.

"Please, please tell me you didn't let them out," Sky asked with an obvious amount of betrayal in his eyes.

"I didn't, I just went to check on them," I frowned.

"And how do we know that? You probably let them out and let them burned down all our information," Ross hissed.

I glared at him, "I wouldn't do that, I didn't do that." I look away, "..maybe I did let them burned down the place, but!-"

"Then who let them out? Can't be a fucking ghost (Y/N)," Sky cussed.

"I Didn't Do it!" I yelled, letting the pressure get to me. I looked ahead to see that Cory and Adam looked back at me. Sky flinches at me yelling.

"...Geez this guys really made you emotional," Sky sighed.

"If it wasn't you then how'd they get out?" Ross asked.

'I don't think I should tell them that, at least not yet,' I smiled. "Yeah, I have no idea how that happened."

It was obvious they didn't believe that. "We're the ones with the guns, you know that right?"

"I do too," I smirked, remember how I won most of our silly shooting games. "Chill, I won't do anything. Let's just get back to your base and get Adam some help," I said becoming more serious when talking about Adam's condition.

"Alright.. But you're saying here with us," Sky demanded. I look back ahead at my group.

"...Fine," I agreed. Sky wraps his arm around me, "Great! Now we can actually chit chat."

"Yeah... Sure," I smiled awkwardly.

Sky takes Adam to the infirmary to get patched up. Ross took me and Cory to the 'Base of operations' which I've been there before. I sit at one of the tables, next to the big rack of weapons.

Cory continues to look around in awe at all the stuff.

"So, one thing I want to ask is," Ross started, "Does your friend over there really know anything about these guys?" He asks Cory.

"I don't know," Cory answers.

"So we're healing a Dead man?" Ross interrogates him.

"He can't be lying. I trust him enough to believe that when he says he knows something, he does," I add my two cents.

"..Yeah, I've been traveling with him for so long and trust that he's telling the truth," Cory says right after me.

Ross sighs, "So time will tell."

"Right... Shouldn't we head out now? You know, Before the mysterious man's trail run dry," Cory says, taking a seat right next to me.

"Yeah, you guys are free to go," He says staring right at us.

Uni perks up in some sort of shock, "They're not coming with us?"

"Huh? Yeah wait, wasn't this supposed to be something we do together? That's what we meant by the whole 'working together' thing," Cory growled.

Ross looked over to him with a glare, "Do you like this paperwork? Do you see it all?"

I stayed quiet, realizing that most of it was for Bounty Hunting jobs. There was a lot of them, almost everywhere. Probably ranging from simple to really difficult.

Not trying to sound too confident but they probably got a ton since I haven't been doing anything. But they are pretty popular themselves.

"Being a Bounty Hunter is pretty hard work, now would you rather do that or," He looks through a stack and pulls out a piece of paper. "Take on a DeathClaw? Or I can do that and you can figure out all of that."

Cory seems pretty mad, "So what? We're just going to do all your dirty work?"

"Look I'm simple just dividing the work. Don't take it too personal," Ross finished and waited for Cory to say something else. Of course I stayed out of it, both my friends are at each other's throats and I don't want to be in the middle of that.

"You've got to much work?" Cory laughed a little bit, "Are you going to make us do this alone then?"

"What? No, you can't go alone. We're not in the position to risk that," Ross sits down at a table and continues, "No, we actually have a special friends to go with you."

I hear the door click open and go to grab my gun, but stop realizing who just walked in. He laughs wildly as he looks to me and Cory.

I stand up, "Max!" I don't know if I should be happy to see him or mad that he hurt us.

"(Y/N)? Good to see you and your little vault boyfriend," Max stared at Cory.

Cory glared at him, "And if it isn't the dog murder."

Uni starts to growl and I have to walk over to him, "I'm gonna bit him, I swear!"

"Uni Calm down," I say calmly. I pat him on the head soothingly.

"Hey, I can put the past behind me and be the better man," He says, keeping his chin high.

Ross could probably sense the tension, "Everyone's alive here." I frown at him, at least he's trying.

Cory scowled and kept Uni close, "Yeah, well..."

Max laughs again, "We have a lot of ground to cover so go wake your friend."

"Let's go get Adam. Guess we're working with this guy," Cory sighs.

Uni groans, "Ugggh Great."

"Looks like we'll be working together again (Y/N)," Max smirks at me. I glare at him, "I'm going to make sure you don't try to kill my friends again."

He shrugs, "I wouldn't dare."

"Come back alive," Ross jokes.

"Yeah, Thanks for nothing," Cory follows me out the door.

"Cory, if we come back Let's just kill them," Uni shakes his head.

I look down at him, I.. can't do that. I have to admit that I still care about these guys. Even if it's just a little bit..

We wake up Adam and head out to where ever this place is.

My group and I trail behind Max as we walk a dirt path taking us to who knows where. Everyone wasn't the happiest camper.

"Here we are again," Cory groaned and continues walking with me by his side.

"Hey! Shut it!" Max yelled at us.

Out of all of us, I'm the only one who's brave enough to talk back. "Better get used to it Max! My groups quite the chatter box!" I smirked when he glared at me. With our past, he takes me seriously to some degree.

"Why are we following this weirdo anyways Cory?" Uni looks up to us. Alpha, who also came, chimed in, "I never really liked him when we went on jobs."

"Yeah Cory, I don't like this new guy either. I can't stand him," Adam glared daggers into the back of Max's head as we continued to walk.

"Well that makes sense, he is the one who shot Uni," Cory informed.

"What?! He shot Uni?!" Adam shouted.

"Yeah we should kill him, right now," Uni said grimly. Alpha chuckled, "I second that."

I shiver, One its weird to hear Alpha be happy for once. Two, they're talking about killing someone I know pretty well.

"You still have that bat Cory? I could use it to bash his skull," Adam glared at Max up ahead. This is getting why too much for me. I don't like it.

"Why do we need this guy anyways?" Uni looked at Cory.

"Cause we have the same interests. Yeah he might have shot you and I shot him but-"

"Hurry up!" Max yells at us once again, cutting Cory off. "There's something up here."

I decided to leave My friends and check out what Max rushing us about. Plus I could do with as less violence as possible.

The feeling of eyes following me as I walked over to Max burned into my back. I shrug it off and look at the building in front of us.

"You're quite the guard dog of your group," Max teased me.

I sighed and dismissed it, "What are we dealing with here? We're here to info and that's all right?"

"Yeah, if you party can keep up and stay quiet," Max smugly commented.

I turned to look the sturdy fence gates, "Mmm with all your yelling, I think we're the least of your problems."

Max let's out a shallow 'Tch' and I smirk.

The sound of footsteps made me turn around quickly, realizing that Cory and Adam were done talking.

"Hey, so we're just looking for information. Cory, come with me to check the back," I smile at him softly. His eyes widen a little bit, and nods. Yeah.... Didn't mean it like that..

I hear Adam make a remark as me and Cory go around the side.

"Guess you can't get through locked doors huh max,"

"Just check the fences," I hear Max's voice retort back.

I walk in silence and look over the fence. There's no holes to get through.

"So, this must be something you're used to by now," Cory speaks up.

I tilt my head in confusion, "And by that you mean..?"

Cory looks at me with worry, which makes me even more confused. "Well, you know, the whole Bounty Hunting part of this. This is basically your cup of tea."

"Really now? It's not my fault I had to do jobs like that. The wasteland is an awful place," I turned away.

"Why did you do it?" he asked me. "Bounty hunting thing."

I turned the corner and looked up to see a shack that was a tad too close to the fence. I take out my gun as we approach it.

At this point it was obvious I wasn't answering the question and Cory didn't say anything else.

When we got to the door, before Cory could try to opening it, I pointed my gun at the lock. I pulled the trigger and with a loud 'BANG' the lock fell to the floor and I swung the door open. I checked the inside and leaned against the wall. Cory stood next to me waiting for the others to get here.

"Hey (Y/N)?" Cory looked over to face me. I let out a small "hm?" before he continued talking. "What are we? Relationship wise, that is. Cause it's obvious we're teammates and friends, I think. I mean we're friends at least right? Something like that."

I chuckled at his nervousness, "We really shouldn't talk about this now you know. We'll have all the time in the world later." I cooed the last part, which I could tell made him red as heck.

"Well look at you! Finally getting into the mind of a Boun-" Max started as he turned to the two of us.

"Yeah yeah, what now?" I cut him off and stood up straight.

"There's a ladder."

"Thanks for telling me. Are we jumping the fence from the roof?" I questioned.

"Of course, that's the only fun part of this trip," Max answered as he started to climb the ladder to the roof.

The others looked at me in confusion as I put my gun away to carry Alpha up to the roof.

"What?"

"Nope, nothing, not going to ask."

All of us get to the roof and I'm the first one to jump. I gracefully make it over the fence. I've had way too much practice with this stuff. Cory and Adam are able to get over as well, I watch with concern to make sure Cory didn't hurt himself.

Then it's Uni and Alpha's turn, they take forever because Uni gets too scared.

"Geez Hurry up." Max glares at the two dogs.

"Uni, I'm seriously going to push you if you don't move!" Alpha growled while pushing his side.

"No! You should go down first, to be sure it's safe for dogs."

"Aggghhh fine!" Alpha complies and takes the first leap onto the very wide poll connecting the fences together.

I go under it to make sure she lands softly.

Which she does when I catch her, she barks at me "Don't grab my stomach like that!" Alpha then jumps out of my arms which leads to a lot of confusion.

"Alpha are you alright?" Uni looks down at her, she nods and waits for him to jump down.

"Uni, just jump already," Adam exclaimed.

Uni ends up jumping and falling right into Cory's arms. Then rejoins Alpha and double checks to make sure she's okay.

Max opens a door that leads into a room with another door going somewhere else. He looks through some papers on a desk and the same question pops up.

"So what are we looking for? I know something to do with some kind of info, but what kind of info?" Cory asks.

Max simple shrugs it off with another rude comment, "How many times do I have to say it? Any Intel that looks important."

We walk into the next room, the walls were covered with crates and boxes. Each one holding who knows how much data.

"Whoa, How are we going to look through all this?" Adam frowns. I do the same, we really don't have much to work with here.

"Okay so can you tell us specifically what we're looking for? Cause this is a lot to sort through," Cory touched the top of a crate.

"You better get to sorting then," Max walks away.

I huff and pop open a boxes, shuffling through all the papers. None seemingly too important. "This'll take forever." I whispered and looked to everyone else.

Cory's keeping an eye out while everyone else is looking through countless of paperwork.

"It would really help to know what Intel we're looking for you know," Cory glared at Max.

"Yeah, well it would help if you didn't ask so many questions." I hear Max retort back.

I look through another box before making my way to Cory. I could use something relax really quick.

Grabbing his sleeve and pulling him towards a place where the others weren't looking around. "Cory, help me with this."

"Huh? Okay..? What is it?" He looked around when I stopped. We were in a corner behind a few boxes. A shadow making this part of the warehouse quite dark.

I pulled him in quickly while grabbing his face lightly, "Mm!" He's eyes widen in shock but close after a second.

I sigh into the small kiss, it was definitely what I needed after dealing with Max all day. Cory was smiling into it as he grabbed my waist softly.

He pulled away after a minute or two and looked at me. I did the same before I started to laugh quietly, covering my mouth with my hand.

"You could've warned me before doing that," Cory smile widened as he leaned in again. This time not kissing me but resting his forehead against mine.

"Sorry, but I couldn't help myself," I smirked, "You looked to handsome being all assertive like that." I definitely wasn't lying at all. Cory is probably the hottest when he was being a leader and telling people how to do stuff. He could order me all his wa-

"Cory! (Y/N)! Where'd those two go?" I hear Adam shouting.

I sighed and let go of Cory, "And that's our cue to stop." I wish it would've lasted a bit longer.

"Hey, It's alright," He gave me a quick peck on the lips, "We'll continue this later..." He smirked. "Wow, so much confidence now huh?" I smiled.

"Yup, but seriously we should head back," Cory let go of me and we walked over to where Adam was calling us.

Later huh? I hope so....

(DOUBLE OOF. I'm really sorry this is taking so long. The fact that I'm trying to update the previous chapters and trying to still do new ones is draining me. Also school.... I hate it so much.
