Part 3: Prom?
Xander had to drive us to my house since I had given Ryker his keys to the motorcycle back. We got out of the car and I unlocked the front door, letting us inside.
I made my way into the kitchen and grabbed two sodas. I brought the sodas into the living room where Xander had sat on one of the couches and turned the TV onto the Sci Fi channel. I plopped down beside him, placing our drinks on the glass coffee table in front of us.
"Listen, Eve," he began, "I know you heard what Ryker said about me liking you and-"
I cut him off, holding up a hand, "It's okay, Xander. I know you aren't in love with me. We're best friends, remember?"
He looked shocked for a moment and was about to protest. Something changed on his face and he relaxed. He nodded, saying, "Yeah, I'm sorry Ryker is such a jerk."
After that, we watched a movie about teens with super powers. Xander tried to levitate objects in my house with his mind. I started dying when a bead of sweat actually dripped down his face from how hard he was concentrating. He gave up, laughing with me instead.
He stayed over my house until my mom came home to make dinner. I hugged him and thanked him for making me feel better.
"So, what are you doing for prom?" My mom asked at dinner.
I shrugged with my spoon of soup halfway to my mouth.
"I don't wanna go. I think Xander is thinking about taking the girl he's had his eye on for a while. Her name is, uh, oh Riley. If he actually asks her to go, then I'll go with them, but I don't really want to."
My mom looked surprised for a second. She blew off the steam from her spoon and then spoke, "Oh. I think you should go. You would have so much fun."
"Are you kidding me? Most of the student body either hates me or is afraid of me. My only friend is Xander, so I would only go for him."
The conversation died at that. Mom knew why I was this way, why I got into so many fights. I wasn't always like this. It just happened after Dad died. I was always closer with him than my mom, so when he suddenly died of a heart attack, I completely shut down. My mom was devastated and Xander had been the one to save me.
It's just ever since my dad died, I stopped caring. My grades dropped, my behavior got worse, and I was rotten. My friends didn't hesitate to drop me.
I got up and rinsed my bowl out in the sink and headed upstairs to do my homework.
Yeah right, I went upstairs alright, but I didn't do homework. I sat on my laptop, watching YouTube videos. I loved watching the ones where people pranked each other. Someone took a spray can and drew profanities all over a friend's car.
That gave me an idea.
I called Xander to come pick me up since my car was still broken in the school parking lot. Mom hadn't even noticed that it wasn't here. Xander pulled up in my driveway and I yelled, "Mom! I'm going out with Xander for a little. I'll be back soon!"
Then I dashed out the door before she could stop me. I jumped into Xander's car and he drove us to the store.
"Thanks, X. I'll be right back." I hopped out of his car, leaving him inside as I went into Lowe's. I quickly paid for what I wanted and ran back outside to Xander. He gave me a questioning look when he couldn't see what was in the bag. I grinned.
"Spray paint," I announced happily.

Xander had to drive me to school the next morning. I finally had to tell my mom about my car so she called AAA. They would take a look at my car after school.
We parked far away from the school. I turned in my seat to face him. I clasped my hands together excitedly and said, "Okay. Here's the plan. I'm going to wait in your car until the bell rings so everyone will be inside the school. You're going to go into English and say that I was running late. Got it?"
Xander said wearily, "I don't know about this, Eve. You could get in a lot of trouble."
I waved him off, "Puh-lease. I've done much worse than this before."
Xander looked like he was about to say something, but changed his mind. He ruffled my hair and got out of the car to head into school. When he was inside, I waited until the bell rang.
I looked around the parking lot to make sure there weren't any stragglers. I easily spotted Ryker's motorcycle in the lot and locked my eyes on the target. When I was sure there was no one else in the parking lot, I got out of Xander's car.
I stood in front of the bike, shaking the spray can. I popped the cover off and wrote one word across his stupid vehicle. I mentally patted myself on the back when I finished. I knew there were security cameras around here somewhere, so I would eventually get caught.
I scanned the lot for a security camera. I spotted one on the side of the school building and stared right into it. Then I raised my hand, and saluted it with my middle finger.
I shoved the spray can into my backpack and went in the school. After going to my locker, I walked in late to English again. Mr. Duncan gave me the look, but didn't say anything as I sat down next to Xander. He shook his head at me, trying to hide his smile.

I actually stayed throughout the whole school day today. I had to stay later after school to pick up the work I had missed these past two days when I had left early. It wasn't like I was going to actually do the work, but I got it anyway.
I packed up my stuff and headed outside. AAA would be here soon so Xander would have left already.
I walked outside to see Ryker casually leaning against his motorcycle, the spray paint easily visible beside him. A satisfied smile settled across my lips.
I smirked at him as I walked by him to my car. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.
"Yes," he said.
"Yes what?" I asked, crinkling my eyebrows in confusion.
"Yes to prom," he answered, flicking his head at the message on his bike.
I had written PROM? in hot pink letters across the sleek outside of the motorcycle. Yep, he definitely knew it was me.
I yanked my wrist out of his grasp and said, "It was a joke."
His eyes flashed and he glared at me. He wrapped his large hand around the back of my neck, drawing me closer to him. He stared into my eyes, saying, "You're going to prom with me."
"No way in hell! Take Hannah-"
He shushed me by shoving his finger against my lips.
"This is over. You chose to play with fire, and this is what you get. If you don't go with me, I will post the picture of you in the locker room with just your bra and underwear on, all over social media. So, try to at least make yourself presentable for prom," he said, running his eyes down the length of my body.
When had he even taken a picture of me in the locker room? I didn't remember seeing him have his phone out. Never mind that.
I pushed his chest away from me. His hand dropped off my neck. I stepped away from his embrace and put my hands against his motorcycle. Before he could stop me, I strained against the bike, shoving it, until it toppled over. It crashed to the ground and I stood back up straight. I dusted my hands off on each other and told him, "Go to hell."
I stalked off in the direction of my car to wait for AAA.
"Oh and don't forget, Angel. Make sure you don't fall for me," he called after me.
Without looking back, I yelled, "I will never fall for an asshole like you." I stuck my middle finger up behind my back.
I slammed the door shut and locked myself in the car while I waited for AAA. Ryker rode away. I immediately dialed Xander's number and explained everything that had just happened in one breath.
"Woah, woah. Hold up," Xander's voice said, "So you have to go to prom with him or else he will post that picture of you?"
"Yes! That's exactly what I just said!"
"I know, but you were talking so fast I had to make sure. Don't worry, we'll think of something. Where are you now?"
"I'm still waiting in the parking lot," I said.
"Hey you know what you could do?" He asked mischievously.
"No, what?"
"You could make his prom a living hell."
"I'm not going with him!" I shrieked.
"Okay, okay. Calm down, jeez. We really will figure something out. Call me when you get home," he said.
I agreed and hung up.
What was I going to do?
