ACTIVE INVESTIGATION: BRIEHAM CRASH '02.

ACTIVE INVESTIGATION
Brieham Crash of 2002
File created by Sheriff Phillip Edwards.
Last updated 6/18/03.
CONFIDENTIAL.

SUMMARY
All interviews and files compiled under the name BRIEHAM CRASH, 2002, are associated with the plane crash in March of 2002 in which a collegiate girls softball team boarded a flight bound for Tokyo, Japan. The flight experienced errors— unidentified if human error or technological issue —and caught fire, resulting in a crash landing in the Eastern Russian mountains. Rescue searches were conducted in nearby areas for three months before all passengers of the plane were labelled as MIA, presumably dead after so much time in the wilderness alone. Among the victims included: Pilot Georgia Taylor, Pilot Victor Cruz, Flight Attendant Amelia Ernst, the entire Brieham Crows softball team (16 players), Assistant Coach Dane Dawson, Head Coach Imane Pierce-Nuñez, and three siblings of the players: Violet Feng, Thomas Pierce-Nuñez, and Vero Morgan.

In June of 2003, contact was made with a potential survivor of the crash who identified herself to local authorities as Tavia Iribe. When a search team was able to locate the plane crash wreckage, they found 9 survivors. The survivors accounted for 15 deceased, however only 4 bodies were found.

The survivors of the Brieham crash have been interviewed individually in an attempt to get a clear story of what happened in those 15 months. One survivor refuses to speak, and therefore gives no account of what happened (so far), but authorities discovered a journal of one of the deceased and are trying to match the story to that. Additional information gathered is taken from Samantha Owens' reports of her team mates, originally written for Coach Pierce-Nuñez's playbook.

The survivors appear to be deeply traumatized— psychologists have been brought in to assess their mental status, most have been diagnosed with some form of PTSD or other trauma disorder —as well as some physically maimed.

It is unclear if these injuries were sustained during the plane crash, or afterwards: from the wilderness, wildlife, or each other.

[written at the bottom of the initial summary is a note in red pen, documented by Deputy Walsh]

NOTES
- all interviews take place inside the Brieham Police Department in Brieham, Ohio.
- all interviews are given by one of three members of the police force: Sheriff Phillip Edwards, Officer Nina Wallows, and Deputy Reagan Walsh.
- the survivors were not allowed to see each other in an isolated attempt to receive the same, authentic story from each of them. Their only initial contact for several days were the police team, a doctor (Dr. Markus Short) , and a psychologist (Dr. Caroline Thorne).

THE FOLLOWING FILES ARE CONFIDENTIAL FOR BRIEHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS ONLY.

INCLUDED ARE MEDICAL FILES OF SURVIVORS AND DECEASED, TRANSCRIPTS AND VIDEO FILES OF INTERVIEWS WITH SURVIVORS, EXCERPTS FROM THE JOURNAL OF A DECEASED, AND REPORTS OF EACH PLAYER CREATED BY SAMANTHA OWENS INTENDED FOR USE IN THE BRIEHAM CROWS' PLAYBOOK.

note.
hi hi welcome to Doomsday. I don't have much to say bc I don't want to leave too many authors notes on this story and take away the immersion, but this story is told between police interviews with the survivors, who are essentially narrating the story (may or may not be unreliably), as well as excerpts from the journal of someone who's identity won't be revealed yet, Sam's notes for Coach Pierce about the players, and the actual moments from the 15 months as they are told by each survivor in their interview. I rewatched Until Dawn when I was first plotting this and was heavily inspired to do interviews as part of the storytelling as an homage to the ending of the game :)
