Chapter 13: Going Home

Lady Stark readied herself even though she felt dizzy every time she remembered Alysanne and Cregan were missing. She made her way outside to the yard when she saw all her husbands men lined up.

"You asked us if we wished to join you. We both agreed.... And we've agreed we won't kill eachother... Yet" her husband said looking to Daemon. She smiled as she grabbed her husbands hand. "Thank you" she whispered.

Lord Stark smiled back at her as Daemon rolled his eyes. "Come on. Let's go" he said in annoyance. Lady and Lord Stark were about to mount their horses as Daemon walked towards Caraxes.

"All this for me? You really do like me, mother" someone called out from the woods.

Lady Stark turned her head swiftly as she saw her son riding towards her, dragging Alys horse behind him. "My boy" she muttered under her breath. Cregan jumped off his horse as his mother embraced him tighter than she ever had before.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" she said in a panic. She grabbed his face examining every inch of him. "I'm fine mother, truly" he said. She let out a relieved sigh as her smile faded. "You stupid boy!" she said swatting the back of his head.

"Ow! I thought you'd be happy to see me!" he exclaimed. "You run off! Without any word after you were told not too! I thought you were dead!" she spat through gritted teeth. Cregan rolled his eyes as he kissed his mothers head. "I'm fine. I'm alive" he said.

Daemon searched around the courtyard for any sign of his daughter. "Where is Alysanne? Where is my daughter?" he questioned in a panic. Cregan simply smirked. "Where is she, Cregan?" Lord Stark asked seeming equally concerned as Daemon.

Everyone fell silent at the sound of a large roar echoed the skies. The sunlight was now covered by a large shadow. Everyone in Winterfell was still once they looked up and saw a mighty dragon flying over their home.

There was screams heard from all over. People ran for cover at the unfamiliar beast. The only one who was not fearful was Daemon. He smiled at the sight. He always knew Alysanne was his daughter. But now everyone would know. She would never be shamed again.

I landed Saphira beside Caraxes. I was afraid she wound not fit in the Winterfell walls but surprisingly, she did. I dismounted Saphira with pride as everyone slowly came out from hiding.

Lady Stark was shocked, but that did not stop her from running to my side immediately. "The gods have heard me" she mumbled into my shoulder as she embraced me tightly.

I gave her a soft smile. A real smile. I felt real happiness being back in Winterfell. "I'm sorry if i frightened you" i said. "No, no, no. Don't you dare apologise. You done what you had to" she said rubbing my shoulder.

"That's all she gets? I get smacked on the head and she gets nothing!" Cregan called out. Lady Stark ignored her son as she brushed a loose hair out of my face.

"I missed you" she said. "I've only been gone two days" i said with laughter. "And that is two days too long!" she said. My smile grew as my father made his presence known with a cough.

"You did it. I'm impressed" he said. I walked towards my father and embraced him. "I'm surprised you stayed. I thought you would do something mad after claiming a dragon" he whispered.

"I was going too... But something changed my mind" i said looking behind him. Daemon turned his head as Cregan gave him a taunting wave. "Don't" he said sternly. "Don't what?" i questioned. "Don't even think about it."

I rolled my eyes. "I would never" i said lying through my teeth. "I hope that to be true" he said. I pushed him away jokingly. My father and i both turned out heads at the sound of a squeaky gasp. I saw Sarah running towards me with excitement. "Hello-"

I was cut off by Sarah jumping into an embrace. I almost fell over but laughed at her reaction. "I thought you had returned to Kingslaning!" she exclaimed. "No... I'm back" i said. She lingered in the embrace until i could breathe no more.

"This came for this morning. I did not open it incase you returned" she said handing me a letter... With the royal seal. I sighed in annoyance and i ripped the letter open.

"Dear my niece,
The queen and i have missed your presence in the castle. We hope you are doing well in your studies and have learned a lot. We ask for your visit as soon as possible with the Stark family. We hope to hear from you soon.
From, king Viserys Targaryen."

I crumpled up the letter and bit my tongue. I know when he says "We ask for your visit" he really means to say "we demand your visit".

"We are to go to Kingslanding" i said. Sarah perked up at my words. "All of us?" she asked. I nodded as she squealed with excitement.

My father cursed under his breath. He hadn't been in Kingslanding since he brought me home to his brother. The day of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryons wedding.

A dreadful night as i recall. It was the first of many times i had received insults and strange looks.... But that was the past.

"We must go pack" lady Stark said rubbing Sarahs head gently. We all made our way to our chamber's to pack. I did not want to go back to Kingslanding. I have very few fond memories there.

But the only good part of this journey was that i would be able to see Helaena and Rhaenyra. I missed them dearly. But i especially missed my hand maiden, Lillie. She has written to me many times but i missed her presence.

I began folding my dresses just as lady Stark taught me. "May i come in?" i heard a voice say along with a gentle knock. "Come" i said. Lady Blackwood opened the door with her head hung.

"My lady... Princess... I wish to apologise to you. Cregan has told me that i have been addressing you wrong this whole time. I truly meant no offence... My father... My father has forgotten to give me this information. If i had known you were a princess, i swear to you, i would have addressed you properly-"

I raised my hand to stop her from speaking. "There is no need for apologies, miss Blackwood. If i truly cared of you not 'addressing me properly', i would have spoken to you. I take no offence" i said. "But you should have, princess" she said taking both my hands in hers. "I feel horrible... And not just for not addressing you by your true name."

I flinched at her words. "I'm not blind nor stupid. When you fled, Cregan was clearly a mess. He followed you right away ignoring the danger. I don't wish to intrude on something that never started with me. I do not want to be the cause of anyone's unhappiness" she said.

I gave her a weak smile. "I can marry any lord. I hope to marry for love, not money or power. And this journey was not a complete waste of time. I have hope i gained a friend or two" she said. My smile grew.

"I believe you have, miss. And thank you" i said. She gave me an unexpected embrace. I thought i would feel uncomfortable but i didn't. I quite liked miss Blackwood. She had a great name after all and was a good person... Unlike her father.

"My father says we are to leave shortly. I don't now where, but i hope to see you again soon, princess" she said. "As do i, and please call me Aly" i said. "I would, truly, but it is quite confusing if i do" she said as we both laughed.

She rubbed my shoulder before she left. I let out a relived sigh. Everything was finally falling into place....

I just hoped that this visit to the castle would not fuck everything up.
