Chpt 10: The Missing Princess

Cregans Pov:

"Cregan! Wake up! Wake up" a voice called out. I shot up out of bed in panic. I looked to see my sister with a worried look on her face. "What is wrong with you? Are you trying to kill me?" i questioned angrily.

"You need to get up" Sarah said. "I don't think so. I'm tired and i think i had too much ale last night so if you don't mind, i will be going back to sleep" i said sarcastically laying my head back down on the pillow.

"Alysannes gone. No one's seen her since last night."

My head shot back up at her words. "What?" i asked in a daze. "Her horse is gone and some food has been taken from the kitchen" Sarah said. I stood up from my bed and pushed passed Sarah.

"Where are you going!" she exclaimed. "To find her! What do you think!" i shouted back. I ran outside and headed to the Weirwood tree. If she was anywhere, she had to be there, right?

"Alysanne! Alysanne!" i called out praying for a response. But there was nothing. I got to the Weirwood tree and looked around everywhere. "Alysanne i know i've been a cunt, alright?... But this is stupid! Just come out and we can speak about this!"

Silence.

She was no where. Whenever she ran off, she'd always come here. Something had to be wrong for her to go any further. I headed back to the Winterfell castle and ran to the council room, hoping to find my father.

Once i walked inside, i was met with my mother, my father, some knights and my sister. "Something has happened. You have to send men to Runestone. They must have taken her like last time" i stuttered. "Cregan-"

"Father! You have to send men! Do you hear me? She could be hurt she could... She could be-" i couldn't even finish my words. My mother rushed to my side and embraced me tightly.

"Oh sweet boy" she mumbled. "We have men searching the grounds. She couldn't have gone far" my father said. I felt my face twitch with anger. "Did you not hear me? She could be in trouble!" i shouted.

My father opened his mouth to speak but cut himself off as his eyes drifted to the door. I turned to see lord Blackwood. "Is something wrong, Rickon?" he asked. My father sighed angrily.

"Nothings wrong... Just a family discussion" he said. He nodded to his guards as they closed the door on him. "Cregan. I know you care for her... But she is not stupid. She is practically a woman grown. She might have left on her own" he said.

I shook my head. "She wouldn't. She would have told me" i said. "Would she?" Sarah questioned with anger. "What?" i asked. "I mean, it's obvious you two have been fighting. And for good reason" she said.

Everyone paused. "I know more than you think, Cregan. I know you have been a complete prick to her ever since your 'betrothed' has arrived!" Sarah exclaimed. "She's not my betrothed" i muttered under my breath. She scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Enough" my father called out. "If she is not back by nightfall... I'll have to send word to the king" he said. "By nightfall? She could be injured in a ditch somewhere? She mightn't be breathing by nightfall!" i shouted.

"Cregan. We will find the princess and we will bring her back unharmed. Because if we don't, that cunt prince Daemon will have my head on a spike" my father said.

"I will go look for her. I will find her" i said. My mother gave my father a frightened look as her grip tightened on me. My father took a step towards me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"I know you care for her... But we don't know what's happened nor do we know where she is.
You are to stay here. On my orders you can not leave" he said. I shook off both of their grasps

"But i can help!" i exclaimed. My father shook his head and sighed. "I'm sorry, son. But it's too risky" he said. "I'm not Bennard father! You have to stop treating me like i am him!" i shouted. I regretted my words the minute i spoke them.

My mothers mouth fell open as she turned so i would not see her eyes filled with tears. Sarah hung her head not wanting to look at me. My fathers face dropped.

It is an unspoken rule to speak of my brother. He died a few years ago and we haven't spoken of him since... Well... Until now. "Go to your chambers" he said sternly. "Father-"

"Gaurds! Bring him to his chambers now!" he shouted. Everyone flinched as he raised his voice. I had obviously hit a nerve. The guards walked towards me as i glared at my father.

I didn't want to fight them so i complied. They followed me to my chambers and locked the door once i was inside. I grabbed my sword and began hitting the wooden slats on my bed frame in anger.

I hated feeling helpless. Knowing she was out there and not being able to do anything. I put my head in my hands taking deep breaths. "Shit" i mumbled feeling my heart beat faster and faster.

I couldn't sit here and do nothing. I needed to do something. I looked around my room, thinking of ways to escape. I looked to my small window knowing i could not fit through. Then it hit me. An idea... A risky idea... But an idea.

I looked through the small keyhole in the door seeing that the guards had left. "Lady Blackwood! Lady Blackwood! Alysanne!" i called out. I prayed to the gods she would hear me.

Her chambers were close to mine so there was a slim chance. "Alysanne!" i called out one last time. But nothing."Shit!" i shouted angrily punching the door.

I laid my head against the wooden door feeling utterly helpless. "Cregan?" i heard someone whisper. My head shot up as i heard her. "Lady Blackwood!" i exclaimed. "I heard you shouting... What's going on?" she asked.

"Alys gone. She's... Shes in trouble. I need you to let me out" i said. "She's gone? What do you mean she's gone?" she questioned. "There's not enough time to explain. I need you to unlock the door. Please!" i begged.

She paused. "Did your father lock you in here?" she asked. "Lady please!" i shouted. She paused again. But this time it was longer. "Miss Blackwood?" i called out but there was no answer. I sighed thinking she had left. But then i heard it.

I heard the door unlock as the lady Blackwood gave me a weak smile. "Go! Go find her then!" she said. I grabbed my sword and nodded as i ran past her.

I fled to the stables and hopped onto my horse. "You ready, Benj?" i asked. Obviously, he did not answer. But i pretended like he agreed with my idea even if it might have been stupid.

There was no time to saddle him up so i rode off holding onto his mane. "Hey! Wait!" one of the guards called out as they saw me. They stood in front of my horse thinking that would stop me from riding off. They were wrong.

Benji was an old horse, but he still has some fight left in him. Benji rode faster as the guards jumped out of the way. I fled into the woods hoping i was going the right way. I would search the whole North if i had too.

But i would find her. I needed to find her.
