Chpt 26: Lady Stark
Cregans Pov:
"So, why were you so down back at the castle?" Arryk asked handing me a cup of ale. "I wasn't down" i said with weak laughter. "Let me guess, little lord is in love! I know that look when i see it."
I ignored them both as i downed the rest of my ale. They both laughed as he handed me another cup. "Just keep drinking, little lord. She'll escape your thoughts sooner or later" Arryk said. Little did they know, it's been nearly four years, and she still has not escaped my thoughts.
We continued drinking and laughing the night away. The two twins, who i could still not tell apart, told me about their adventures of being in the Kingsgaurd. Though at night, they didn't act like members of the Kingsgaurd, they acted like normal people.
"He what?!" i exclaimed. "I swear to the gods, i've seen prince Aegon wander around these parts. And believe me, he does not act like a prince when he's here!" Erryk exclaimed. We all laughed until i saw a woman from the other end of the ale house staring at me.
I looked away immediately. But Arryk noticed this. He smirked to himself before whistling over.
"Mary! Come here!" he called out. "What are you doing?" i asked in annoyance. "You need a woman and i knkw Mary. She'll satisfy you well."
I rolled my eyes and i shook my head. "Arryk, Erryk... My apologies, i do not know your name" the tall woman said stroking her hands against my shoulders. I shuffled uncomfortably in my seat.
"This is the future lord of Winterfell, Mary. We want you to get his mind of all his lord duties" Erryk said. The woman sat down on my lap, running her hands through my hair. I mean, the woman wasn't Aly, but she was someone's
I guess having her sit on my lap wasn't the worst thing ever.
Alysannes Pov:
I decided to try and see if Cregan was drinking himself away in Fleabottom. I told him many times that's where i went to get drunk and have fun. I had my cloak on hoping i would not be recognised.
As i was walking through the streets, i felt someone dig into my pockets and grab my satchel full of coin. "Hey!" i shouted grabbing the small figure before they could run off. But when i pulled down their hood, i saw a small little boy with a face full of fear.
My face dropped. I let his arm go and sighed. "Just take it" i said. The boy gave me a small smile before running off. I pulled my hood back up and walked into an ale house. I looked around, about to leave until i heard a woman laugh loudly.
The woman was sat on a familiar man's lap. I looked closely only to realise the familiar man was Cregan. He was with two familiar guards, laughing and drinking away.
I felt a tug in my heart as i watched them. I mean, i wasn't surprised. Cregan was a man after all. And he was not mine. He must have thought i truly didn't want to be with him. I grabbed my necklace around my neck and squeeze it tightly.
I was about to leave and leave Cregan to his whoreing until i remembered why i came here in the first place. I wasn't going to let anyone's actions get in the way of my happiness.
I slammed the door loudly, causing Arryk and Erryk to look over at me. Both of their faces dropped as they wiped the ale from their mouth. They both stood to their feet at the sight of me.
"What are you two doing?" Cregan asked as the woman laid kissed all over him. I began storming towards them, the wooden floorboards moving as i walked. "Your grace" Erryk said bowing his head.
Cregan gave the man a confused look before his eyes drifted to me. It was then his face fell. He shoved the woman off of him immediately before standing to his feet. He looked like a lost puppy as i scowled at him. I continued making my way towards him as he began stuttering.
"Aly... Listen... I'm so sorry it's just... I thought you weren't coming and then... And then there was ale and... And then-"
"Just shut up" i said pulling Cregan by his shirt, kissing him passionately. Cregan was frozen before kissing me back, relaxing into it. Everyone in the ale house went silent, in shock with what just happened. But i didn't care. And neither did Cregan. His hands found his way from my waist and then to the back of my head.
I pulled out of the kiss as Cregan was left speechless. His eyes took a few moments to open, still processing what just happened. I then struck the man across the face. Everyone gasped but i didn't hit him too hard.
"That's for not waiting long enough, you fool" i said trying to hide my smirk. A smile crept onto his face as he picked me up and spun me around. "Hey! Hey! Put me down!" i said with laughter.
He laid a gentle kiss on my lips as i smiled. "And if you ever think about kissing another woman again, you know they they'll never compare to me" i said. "Yes, ma'm" he said smiling against me.
We both turned to Erryk and Arryk as they stood there, gobsmacked. "So, was it you two fools who got my lord drunk and gifted him a woman without my permission?" i questioned sharply.
They both stayed quiet. "She just jests... I think" Cregan said. The twins let out awkward laughter. "Yes, i'm only joking... But if it happenes again, my dragon has just returned. And she's hungry."
Their laughter quietened down. "Now, my lord" i said turning back to Cregan. "I need you to escort me out of this shithole so we can go home before the king and queen notice i have fled."
"Home?" he questioned. "Yes, my lord. Home" i said. He chuckled under his breath. "If you call me 'my lord' again, i believe i won't be able to wait until marriage before i take you" he whispered. I shoved him away jokingly.
I grabbed his hand trying to drag him out until Erryk grabbed Cregan by his arm. "You never told us the woman you were down about was the fucking princess? Prince Daemons daughter for that matter" he whispered.
Cregan just smirked before guiding me out of the ale house. We ran through the dirty streets hand in hand, laughing with each step. "Where the hell are we going?" Cregan exclaimed.
"If i tell you, you won't want to go" i said. "Gods be good" he mumbled under his breath. We hid outside the castle walls, ducking so no guards would see us. "Don't speak. Don't shout. Don't even breath" i whispered. Cregan gave me a confused nod. "Saphira māzigon!" i exclaimed. "Saphira come."
I saw the guards turn their head, wondering where the sound came from. But their attention then turned to the enormous dragon flying over their heads. Saphira landed close by as Cregan and i ran towards her.
"Princess?" one of the guards shouted in confusion. The four guards began to run after us as i climbed onto Saphiras back. "Come on! Give me your hand!" i shouted. Cregan shook his head and laughed.
"No. Your not getting me on that thing" he said. Saphira growled loudly hearing his words. "If you don't get on, then the plan is ruined and i'm leaving without you" i said. Cregan looked back at the guards who were getting closer and then back to the large beast. He groaned in annoyance. "Fine!"
I helped him up as Saphira flew into the air. Cregan screamed gripping onto my waist tightly. I laughed at his fear. "This... This isn't that bad" he said. "See? She won't let you fall."
I decided to mess with him a little bit. "Eglikta, Saphira" i shouted. "Higher, Saphira." As i spoke, Saphira flew higher into the air, turning upside down as she did. Cregan screams grew louder as the wind pulled our skin back.
I chuckled loudly.
We rode for a few hours, looking where to land. "Here! Stop here!" Cregan exclaimed. "What? We're not at Winterfell yet" i said. "Just land!" he exclaimed. I rolled my eyes, landing Saphira in the snow.
Cregan jumped off of her as he helped me down. "Where are we?" i asked. He pushed a piece of my hair out of my eyes as he cupped my cold face in his warm hands. My heart skipped a beat as he knelt down on one knee and took my hand in his.
"I know we've been apart for some time. But Aly... I love you. I have loved you from the moment i saw you sitting at that Weirwood tree. I have loved you with every fight we've had, every ride, every walk, everytime we've been together and everytime we've been apart. Too meet a breathtaking woman is once thing, but to meet your best friend in the most captivating woman Westeros is something entirely different. Something so rare, i refuse to let it go. So i must ask you now... If you would marry me?"
My mouth fell open. I was unable to speak. "I... I don't know what to say" i stuttered. Cregan gulped nervously. "You don't need to say anything i just-"
"Cregan" i said kneeling down infront of him. "I don't think there is anything else to say other than i love you too... And marrying you is all i've thought about for three whole years."
His smile finally came back as i embraced him tightly. "Of course i'll marry you" i mumbled into his shoulder. "Then that's why we're here" he said. I looked around at the unfamiliar town. "Where the fuck are we?" i said with confused laughter.
"Come" he said covering me with my hood and grabbing my hand, leading me into a small ale house. We burst through the door as everyone went quiet. "Is there any Stark men or a Northern man here?" Cregan called out. Everyone continued staying quiet until a man stood up from his seat.
"I live near Winterfell. My uncle was a Stark" he said. "Perfect. I need you to officiate a wedding. Is there any Targaryen or Rhoyce kin here?" he asked. A woman stood up. "My father was a bastard. But his father was a Rhoyce" she said.
"Good enough. Now, whoever comes to my wedding will get free ale for the rest of the night? Who's coming?!" he exclaimed. Everyone cheered loudly, just wanting free ale.
The woman walked over to me and pulled down my hood. She let out a small gasp once she realised who i was. "Your Daemon Targaryens child? The rumoured bastard who proved everyone wrong once she claimed a dragon, aren't you?" she questioned.
"That's me" i said with an uncomfortable chuckle. "Well, congratulations" she said. Everyone clambered outside into the cold snow as Cregan gave me one last look. "I'll see you out there" he said. "I'll see you out there."
The woman who was the closest thing i had to kin in the North, began fixing me up the best she could. My dress was not fancy, my hair was frizzy from riding and my cheeks were as red as cherry's from the cold.
"You look beautiful, princess. Do you know how to do this?" she asked. "Get married? No... I've never done it before" i said as she laughed. "Alright then... Just ask the Stark boy what to say if you don't know."
She walked me outside as i saw everyone lined up waiting for me. I smiled softly as i saw Cregan standing in front of a Weirwood tree. "You ready?" the woman whispered. "I think so" i whispered back.
She walked me up to meet Cregan as i felt my heart beat faster and faster. But all the nerves thay built up inside me flew away once i came face to face with him. My Cregan Stark. "My lord" i teased. "Princess" he teased back.
"Who comes before the gods on this night?" the man officiating the wedding called out. "Alysanne, with the house Targaryen comes here to be wed. A woman grown. True born and noble. She comes to beg the blessings of the gods " the woman said.
I was happy my wedding was not with The Faith Of The Seven. I didn't care if it was old gods, or if we just simply said we were married. But i refuses to be married under The Seven. Not after everything that's happened.
"Who comes to claim her?" the man asked. "Claim me?" i whispered to Cregan. He rolled his eyes jokingly. "Cregan of house Stark. Heir to Winterfell. Who gives her?" Cregan asked.
"A woman with no title, but only joy for the young couple" she said. I gave her a small smile. "Lady Alysanne, will you take this man?" the man asked with a smirk. "I believe i will" i said.
"Then that's it then. Your married. Kiss the bride" the man said. Cregan practically pounced on me as he kissed me passionately. The strangers clapped and cheered at the sight.
"Now for the bedding ceremony!" a man from the crowd shouted. Cregan pulled out of the kiss and gave the man a deadly glare. "What did you say?" he asked trying to storm towards him."Alright calm yourself" i said with laughter. "There's been enough death for one day... And i believe you promised these people free ale!"
Everyone cheered once again as i spoke. The people began to head back into the ale house and away from the cold. I was about to follow them until Cregan pulled me back.
"How do you feel, lady Stark?" he asked. I smiled brightly at his words. "I'm happy, husband" i said. He kissed me once again as i laughed against his lips. "Now let's head back inside before my feet freeze off" i said.
"My new wife can't have her feet cold on the night of our wedding now, can she?" he said. He bent down slightly as i hopped onto his back. "You ready for a drunken night with your new husband, lady Stark?" he asked.
"I am, lord Stark."
