Chpt 5: Cold Ice And Burning Fire
Cregan and i ran back towards Winterfell castle as i quickly spotted the large Caraxes. I watched as my father dismounted his dragon and stormed towards Cregans father.
"Where is she?" Daemon spat putting a knife to Rickons throat. Lord Stark laughed at my fathers anger. "Where is my daughter!" Daemon exclaimed. "Why don't you take a look behind you?" Rickon said with a smirk.
"Father!" i called out as Daemon reluctantly took the knife away from Rickons throat. Daemon embraced me tightly as he began examining my face. "Have they hurt you?" he asked. I rolled my eyes and shoved him off. "No father. I'm fine" i said through gritted teeth.
Daemon sighed angrily as he shoved me behind him. "You take my daughter and think i would not find out?" he questioned the Stark family angrily. "We did not steal your daughter, angry man. The king wished for her to stay with us" lady Stark said.
"Is this true?" my father whispered to me. I nodded. He scoffed loudly. "My brothers wife more like... Come on i'm taking you home" he said pushing me towards Caraxes. I looked back at the Stark family and pushed my father away. "I can't. It was the kings orders. He'll be angry if i am to leave."
"Then my brother can be angry. We're leaving. The smell of shit is killing me slowly" he said pushing me once again. "You say your taking me home, but which home is that? Pentos? Runestone? Kingslanding? I have no home! I have been told to stay here by the king. And if i don't listen, trust me, there will be worse consequence" i shouted as i shoved him off again.
Daemon bit his tongue so he would not say something he would regret. "How about we take this inside?" lady Stark suggested. It was only then my father and i noticed the crowd that gathered around us. "Come on" i mumbled as i dragged my father inside.
We all sat around the feasting table as dinner was served to us. Daemon stared at lord Stark with disgust as he inhaled his food. "Now, i'll say my peace and be done with it. This is not my family feud. I was simply asked by the king to house his niece, and i agreed. And for that, i got a knife to my throat, now why may that be?" Rickon questioned.
My eyes drifted from the table and fell on Cregan who was standing with his arms folded by the door. He had a furious look on his face as he stared at my father. He obviously did not take kindly to my father putting a knife to his fathers throat.
"Well, i got a raven from my daughter with our code word for danger. And another raven from her handmaiden saying she had been sent to Winterfell. And then here i am, finding her here... You can see why i worried" Daemon said.
"We do, your grace. As parents, we can see why you panicked. If we believed our children to be in danger, we would do the same thing" lady Stark said as she held her husbands hand. "Children? I thought you only had a son?" Daemon questioned with a smirk as his eyes drifted to the angry boy who stood in the doorway.
"Well, Cregan is our son, but he is not our only child. My husband had relations with a woman after our betrothal and she fell pregnant. But she is my daughter" lady Stark said with a hint of defence.
"So you do not mind that your husband fucked someone else?" my father asked. I gave him an annoyed glare as Sarah shuffled uncomfortably in her seat.
But lady Stark would not let him get to her that easily. "It was an arranged marriage. Truth be told i was not as happy about the marriage either, but then i got to know him. It took some time, but once we spent more time together, love walked in... But you understand. You had an arranged marriage too, is that right, your grace?" she asked.
Lord Starks smirked at his wife's sharp tongue. Daemon smirk faded. "Yes. I did" he mumbled. "Tragedy what happened to your beloved wife. It was a horse riding accident? Wasn't it?" lord Stark asked.
I hung my head as i felt my stomach churn. Daemon looked at me with worry as he saw my discomfort. "Yes. She fell from her horse whilst hunting" he mumbled. "Yes... I heard she got her head smashed in. Poor woman... But i never knew she was hunting" lord Stark said taking another bite of his food.
My father and i both shot our heads up. "What?" Daemon questioned. "I just never heard she was hunting. All i heard was that she was out riding. But i guess since you were such a loving husband, you would know. Shame she couldn't be here with us right now with her daughter" he said obviously taunting my father.
But it did not get to him... It got to me.
I stood up from the table as everyone looked at me. "If you'll excuse me" i said storming out of the room. I pushed past Cregan as the whole room went silent.
Lady Stark gave her husband an annoyed look. Daemon kept his eyes on the door where i had just fled and sighed. "I'm sorry for my husbands bluntness... He doesn't know when to shut his mouth. Aren't you sorry, my dear?" Lady Stark said through gritted teeth.
Lord Stark stayed quiet until his wife slammed her foot down on his. "Ow!" he exclaimed. She gave him a look that would make any man drop dead as he sat up straight.
"My apologise, your grace. We'll have a room set up for you for the night if you wish to stay" he said. "I want to see my daughter. Where is she?" Daemon asked. Everyone paused. "Well, we can look for her, your grace, but-"
"I might know where she is" Cregan finally spoke up. Everyone paused once again. Daemon sat up from the table and walked towards Cregan. "Then where do you think she may be?" he asked face to face with the young Stark.
"Now why would i tell you?" he questioned with a smirk. "Because i put a knife to your fathers throat. Imagine what i will do with you" Daemon shot back. "You think you scare me, 'your grace'. You don't" Cregan said sarcastically.
"Hey, hey, hey! That's enough of that! Cregan, go find the girl and tell her that her father wants to see her" Cregans father said sternly.
Cregan rolled his eyes as he went to where he thought he might find her. He walked out into the cold air and headed into the forest. He trudged through the thick snow until he was met with the Weirwood tree.
"I thought i might find you here" he said with a hint of annoyance. I rolled my eyes and wiped away my frustrated tears. "Please piss off" i said. "Alright listen princess, my father ordered me to come find you, so i did. Now come on" he said.
"I don't want to go back" i said. Cregan bit his tongue and rolled his eyes. "Did you not hear me? He ordered me to come find you and bring you back. So, come on" he said more sternly.
I stood up and stormed towards him. "I heard you. Tell him you could not find me" i snapped. He bent down to my size and gave me a taunting smile. "It doesn't work like that, princess. Your not in Kingslanding anymore."
"Don't call me that" i mumbled. "Oh i'm sorry, what would you like to be called? Lady of Runestone? Dragonless Targaryen?... Bastard?"
I took a step back at his words. My face twitched in anger. I punched him right in his face as he put his hand to his lip. "You are an asshole" i said with a small whimper.
I pushed past him again as i heard him huff and puff. "Hey, it was a joke!" he called out. I ignored him as i kept walking. "Hey!" he called out once again as he finally caught up to me.
He grabbed my arm gently as he opened his mouth to speak, but i cut him off before he could. "You don't know anything about my family! And neither does your father. My mother... My mother was cruel. And her death is not some joke you can bring up as a defence in a petty argument. And my... Legitimacy is not something you can bring up to hurt me" i snapped with a quivering lip. Cregan gulped slightly. "Listen, i just-"
"No... No. Just stay away from me" i said pushing him away. Cregan shook his head and groaned in frustration as i went to find my father. I ran into the Winterfell castle and searched for him.
As i ran through the halls, i felt myself collide with someone in my daze. I looked up to see my father. "There you are. I was going to find you myself but that cunt of a Stark said he'd find you and-"
I cut my father off as i embraced him tightly. I let tears fall down my face as he embraced me back. "Ally" he mumbled into my shoulder with rare sympathy. "I don't know where i'm supposed to be, father... I don't belong anywhere!" i exclaimed.
Daemon did not know what to say. "I want to leave. I don't want to stay in Winterfell any longer" i said with a shakey voice. My father squeezed me tighter as he pulled out of the embrace.
"Then we'll leave. First light tomorrow, we'll go."
