Chpt 6: Nicknames And Home

It was now after dark and the whole the castle was quiet. The only sound i heard was the wind. After my small outburst, my father and i decided it would be best for us to leave and go back to Pentos with Laena and my sisters.

Though my father told me to try and find rest, i couldn't. I tossed and turned all night as my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. I could not tell you why Cregans words got to me, but they did.

Every time i thought about what he said, my blood boiled more and more. Another thing i got from my mother. Once something is said, i never forget... And i never let it go.

I sat up in my bed and grabbed another fur for my bed because of the cold. As i did, i heard my chamber door open. I jumped slightly and gasped until i saw who it was.

"I thought i told you to say away."

"Come with me. I have something to show you" he whispered. "What?" i questioned in confusion and frustration. "Just come with me and you'll see. And keep your voice down. Your fathers asleep next door" he whispered again.

"If you ask me to come with you again, then i'll scream. You can talk to him instead" i mumbled. "Look, just come with me and see if it's worth. If not, go run to daddy and i'm sure his dragon will turn me to ash or something... Either way, you win. So, are you coming?"

I paused and thought about it for a second. "Fine" i mumbled. "Here" he said handing me a fur for the cold. I looked him and down before taking it. "What? Your nightdress is practically see through, trust me, where we're going you'll be cold" he said.

I covered up awkwardly and quickly. I followed Cregan outside the castle, weary of where he was taking me. He stopped at the wall surrounding the castle and put out his hand. "Come on" he whispered.

"Are you crazy?!" i whispered through gritted teeth. "I've done this a million times. I'm a great climber" he said. "Yeah well, i'm not!"

Cregan rolled his eyes once again. "Trust me. You'll be fine" he said. I paused for a moment before taking his hand. I didn't trust him. But i knew that he knew my father would kill him if anything was to happen to me.

There was small stepping stones sticking out of the wall leading up to the top. Cregan showed me each step to take as we climbed up. With each step i took, i was convinced i was going to fall. "I can't do this" i said refusing to look down.

"You can. Just follow me" he said. I took a deep breath and continued up. Just as we were about to get to the top of the wall, i felt my foot slip off the small stone as i let out a shriek. Cregan quickly grabbed both of my hands and held on tightly.

"Your okay. Your okay" Cregan repeated with a twinge of uncertainty. I closed my eyes tightly, trying my best not to look down. "I've got you" he said. With one pull up, he dragged me to the top of the wall as i held onto him tightly.

I refused to let go of him as i still had my eyes closed. "Hey, your fine. Open your eyes" he said with small laughter. After a few seconds, i slowly opened my eyes. My mouth fell open slightly at the sight.

I could see green woods, snow that covered everything for miles and small animals running around. There were rabbits, deers and i could have sworn i saw a direwolf or two. "Wow" is all i could get out.

"I know... It's quite something when you see it for the first time" he said. I felt a wave of uncomfortableness wash over me as i realised i was still gripping onto Cregan. But i didn't move... Because i would fall... Obviously.

"Do you bring a lot of girls up here?" i asked. Cregan laughed. "Actually no... Just one" he said looking at me. "I find that very hard to believe" i said with a scoff.

"No... It's true... This is my spot. And mine only" he said. I tilted my head as i looked at him. "Your spot?" i questioned. "Not a lot of people can climb up here. Only-"

Cregan cut himself off as his face dropped. "What?" i questioned as he stiffened up. Cregan rolled back his shoulders. I could tell something was wrong.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't wish it" i said. "No... No it's fine it's just... Well, my brother showed me how to get up here" he mumbled. "Your brother?" i asked. He nodded. "But i haven't met... Oh" i mumbled as i realised his meaning.

"He um... He died when i was eleven" he said. I gave him a sorrowful look, not knowing how to comfort him. "I'm sorry" i mumbled gripping onto him tighter.

"It's fine... Really. He brought me up here when everyone fell asleep because he knew my mother would be angry. He snuck lemon cakes from the kitchen too. I hate them but it was the only thing he could get his hands on" he said with a sad chuckle.

I gave him a weak smile. "That's why i brought you up here. This is the only time i'll be weak so enjoy it while it lasts... I wanted to say...What i am trying to say... I didn't mean to be a cunt to you, i just have a big mouth sometimes" he said. "Yeah... You do" i said as he laughed.

"I wanted to say... I'm sorry... I heard you talking to your dad about wanting to leave Winterfell... And about the other stuff too" he said. I could tell he doesn't say sorry much. My smile faded. "I don't want you to leave and get in trouble with the king because of me."

"I'm not leaving because of you. I'm leaving because i don't fit in here" i said. "And you fit in where? In Pentos with the fat lords?" he questioned. "With my family, Cregan."

"And what happens if the king finds out you disobeyed his orders?" he asked. I let out a shakey breath. "I may or may not be sent to go live with the High Septon and possibly join the Silent Sisters" i mumbled.

Cregan scoffed. "You? As a Silent Sister? I can't see that ending well" he said jokingly. I anxiously began biting my nails at the thought of it. "Why did you get sent away anyways?"

His question made me laugh. "Well, i mostly got in trouble for sneaking out after dark, fighting with people, who deserved it may i add, and well... Other things. But the thing that pushed him over the edge was when i 'assaulted' prince Aegon" i said.

"Did he deserve it?" he questioned. "More than anyone" i said rolling my eyes at the thought of the creepy drunk. A silence washed over us as Cregans eyes stayed put on mine.

I took a deep breath as his eyes drifted up and down my figure. "I think you should stay" he said breaking the silence. "Did your mother ask you to say this?" i questioned.

"Surprisingly no" he said. "Then why do you want me to stay?" i questioned, trying to act coy. "Because, princess, you've been here not even a day, and i think Winterfell has never been so chaotic. You've brought some fire to the North... And i like it" he said with a small smirk.

I smiled at his words as i looked back out to the view. "It is quite beautiful here... And i don't think i'd be a good Silent Sister... So i may have to stay here... For my family's sake and mine of course" i said with a hint of sarcasm.

"And for me" he said cockily. I scoffed. "You really are bad at this, Stark" i said jokingly. "Oh come on! Tell me there isn't even a small part of you that is staying for me" he said as i laughed.

"Your not getting anything from me tonight if that's what your insinuating. I think i saw a whore house on the way over here though" i said sarcastically.

"I know. I've been there. But none of them have fire in them quite as much as you do, princess" he said. "Don't call me that" i said more serious. "Alright... New nickname... I can't think of any" he said.

"Well then, you'll have to get to know me better, Stark" i taunted. He smiled slightly. "Now, can we get down. I'm freezing" i said. "Orders, orders" he mumbled sarcastically.

After a while, we finally made it down and headed back inside the castle. "Sun will be rising soon. And when i wake, you won't be gone?" he whispered. "Maybe not" i said, trying not to give too much away.

"Good. Then we'll have to find a nickname for you" he said. I rolled my eyes trying to hide my smile. Cregan bent down to my height and kissed my hand gently. "Until then, princess" he taunted one last time before scurrying off.

I smiled to myself until i realised what i was doing. "Gods be good" i mumbled under my breath. I could not let this Stark boy get to me. I was doing this for my sanity only. I would not be able to live with myself if i was a Silent Sister. That's why i'm staying.

Just as the sun rose, i crept into my fathers chambers and shook him awake. He shot up out of bed in a panic until he saw it was me. "You scared me, Ally. What are you doing? Did something happen?" he asked.

"No, nothing happened... But i want to stay father. I want to work on becoming a lady with lady Stark" i said. He saw right through my lies. "Why do you really want to stay?" he questioned sternly. I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"Fine... I think... I think i might have a chance of fitting in here. Truly. And i want to... That's all i want, father. I want somewhere where i belong" i said.  "And you think you belong in fucking Winterfell?" Daemon asked in shock.

"Yeah... I think i do."
