Going Home
(Play music)
"Gerson!"
Gerson turned his head and looked to the lizard vampire running to him in the marble hallway. Each step made it better for gerson to get a better look at her.
"Yes?" Gerson asked, the lizard took a few deep breaths before looking up and smiling at gerson.
"I've come to report that the orphanage has been fixed!" She squealed in glee, she showed gerson a check list of all the damage that has been repaired. Gerson smiled and a shook her hand.
"Thank you!" Gerson said happily, "I'll get the kids ready, Thank you."
The Lizard nodded and scurried away, "Oh! Sorry!" She said when she bumped into geno who walked out of a room.
"It's alright," geno said as she ran off, "Oh, hi gerson." Geno smiled and walked over to him. He could still taste the hot chocolate lingering in his mouth.
"You look happy." Geno said and crossed his arms, gerson nodded and turned around.
"The orphanage is finally done with its repairs," Gerson smiled and walked into a small room filled with blankets and pillows.
He pulled out a big wooden wagon and handed it to geno, "speaking of it, do you mind doing me a favor?"
"No, not at all." Geno said and smiled, he took the handle of the wagon and held it still , "its the least I can do."
Gerson smiled and started piling the wagon with blankets and pillows. He hummed a small song as he finished up.
"Can you take these to the orphanage up to the third floor?"
"Yeah," geno said and started to pull the wagon, gerson waved bye to him as soon as he started to leave.
The wagon rolled smoothly across the marbled floor in the hallway. Bearly even making a sound, geno took notice to how silent it was after everyone in the village left the castle a few hours ago.
"Not many people actually live in here, huh?" Geno whispered to himself as if someone might overhear him.
"Come to think of it, I've only ever seen death around here."
It weirded geno out, he remembered how fell had told him that sick and old lived here. Yet he has seen no monster of the sort.
"Probably in the other side of the cas - AAH!" Geno yelped as he slightly tripped over the stairs. The wagon twisted and almost dropped all of the blankets and pillows as it fell to the last step with a clunk.
Geno gave a small breath of relief and started to walk again. The castle doors were already opened so geno easily walked through them. Once he was outside the dark blue sky greeted him, geno squinted he eye to try and get a better view of the path.
Even if geno was used to seeing though one eye it still was a bit difficult. It left him with little details and not very much to see.
Geno went on though, his brown boots crunched the small pebbles that laid underneath him.
Geno passed through the two golden gates, that were also left opened, to the village closest to the castle. It wasn't as big as the one that was closer to the orphanage. But the houses were made from wood and we're the same size.
A few vampires sat outside their houses talking or just resting. Geno walked in the middle of the path through the houses.
A few vampires stared and others waved politely, one closed the blinds that they were looking though when geno passed.
Geno slightly buried his head into his turtle neck, relived when he finally made it out of that village and to the one closest to the orphanage.
Geno gasped when he laid his eye on the rebuilt orphanage. Everything looked exactly the same. The part where the orphanage was destroyed by the tree looked as if it hadn't been touched. Heck even the ground where it had been clawed by the creature looked good as knew.
"This is amazing," geno told himself as he looked at the orphanage a bit more, "it would have took weeks for monsters to rebuild a smaller building than this, and we have magic. This took them a matter of a few days."
Geno smirked as he opened the door, everything in the inside had been replaced by a few new things. There was a smaller brown table in the middle of the living room and a wooden bench at the side of the windows.
Geno walked through the small hallway, slightly pulling the wagon with force up the stairs. Once he reached the door for the room he quickly opened it before the wagon had any time to roll down the stairs.
Geno jumped in the room holding the handle of the wagon only to be jerked back and land on his back on the the floor.
"Ow," geno said and slowly got up, he looked at the wagon to find it wedged between the two sides of the opening of the door.
"Really, the wagon got stuck," geno said with a plain and bored tone before he got up and started to pull the wagon hoping to force it into the room.
As geno pulled he heard little noises coming from behind him, it sounded like something scratching on wood. He ignored it and assumed it was probably a mouse and continued to pry the the wagon out.
The wagon didnt seem to budge so he soon gave up and decided to check on what was making the noise that gradually got a bit louder. He listened closely, taking steps as the floor boards creaked underneath him. Once he got closer to the sound he heard that it was located underneath a bunk bed.
He crouched down and looked under the bed, his purple radio was under it. It made static sounds and vibrated on the ground making it sound like it was scratching the floor.
"..it must have fell out of my pocket," geno wondered and reached out to grab it. As soon as he touched he static stung geno's had and he pulled away from it.
"Ow!" Geno gasped as blew his hand, he gave a small glare to the radio and got up. He walked over to the wagon and pulled out a small blanket and wrapped it around his hand.
He then proceeded to go back to the bunk bed and bend down.
He reached for it, the blanket protecting geno from any shock the radio might want to give him. Once he pulled it out he saw that the small antenna was slightly bent.
"No," geno panicked and tried to fix it, only making it more bent, "crap!"
Geno carefully tried to pull the antenna up to make it easier for him to fix but it wouldn't budge.
Geno's soul started to pound and his face grew hotter as his attempts to fix the radio failed.
"No," geno said feeling his eye socket threatening to shed tears, "come on!"
Finally at what felt like an eternity the antenna finally went back to being straight once geno slowly started to bend it back.
Geno gave out a laugh of relief when the radio started to work again.
"Geno! Are you there!?"
Geno gave a yelp and almost dropped the radio when a voice called for him. Geno took a look at the radio to find it turned on to "mute speaker mode"
He didn't even see that the radio had that kind of setting before.
Geno stayed quiet for a minute, his hands started to sweat in anticipation. The voice didn't come back for a few minutes till he heard the static pic up again, but it sounded distant.
"Geno! I-if your listening Pl-please turn o-on the lo-location setting." A familiar voice said, geno's eye started to fill up with small tears as he smiled. The voice was Alphys talking to him.
"We-we'll be able to find y-you, geno? Hello?"
Geno forced himself to stay quiet.
"..............I'll ca-call ag-again tomorrow, but geno. If you're out there, t-things are starting to get worse at t-the kingdom." Alphys whispered, "m-more monsters are going missing, and king Asgore is g-getting furious at you."
Geno stared at the radio in confusion, how was Asgore angry with him?
"The s-scouts reported back to the kingdom and r-reported to Asgore that you w-w-were dead." Alphys explained in a more quieter voice, "But only me undyne a-and Asgore know your not dead. R-remember he has your lab reports on your health. G-geno, I know your listening, and p-please wherever you are the more you st-stay the worse it will be."
Geno's soul started to pound heavily in his chest again.
"Pl-please if you're li-listening turn on the location so me and u-undyne can find you." Alphys said more quickly, geno could hear some footsteps in the background as Alphys talked, "we've been ta-talking it over and as s-soon as we find you we're go-going to leave the monster kingdom, a-and we're going to live with undyne's fa-family in the far southwest."
The footsteps became louder and louder, "I got to go! W-we love you geno."
The radio made a clicking sound and Alphys's voice was no longer heard. Geno dropped the radio on the blanket on the floor. He wiped his eye socket that started to shed a few tears, he sniffed a bit and looked out the window. He could see from far away gerson and kids making their way towards the orphanage.
Geno looked back at the radio and picked it up along with the blanket. He slowly turned the radio off and looked at it some more.
His eye darted back and forth between the window and radio. He didn't even know why he was doing it, he knew what his decision was the first time he stepped foot in this place.
He just didn't have a chance to do it.
With a heavy sigh geno placed the radio back into his backpack. He looked back at the window, gerson and the kids were starting to get even closer. Yet, it didn't change his mind one bit.
He was leaving tonight.

"Geno!" Gerson called from below, snapping geno out of his thoughts. Geno turned and walked to the window, gerson waved.
"You mind coming down and giving me a hand?"
Gerson held a big brown box, half of it was on the ground where it seemed to have been dragged all the way here from the castle.
With out thinking geno gave a fake smiled and nodded. And without having a second thought he jumped out of the window.
Gerson gave a small scream of shock, while the children laughed and yelled "wow!" He patted his chest and took a deep breath with geno landed gracefully in a crouching stance.
"Don't do that again, you're literally full of surprises," Gerson said taking in more deep breaths.
"I'm sorry, got caught up in the moment," geno laughed, he avoided eye contact with everyone as he grabbed onto the other end of the brown box.
Gerson noticed but left him alone about it and picked up the other end.
Soon they started to set up everything inside the orphanage. Everything took a long time to set up, it took am even longer time with the smaller kids decided to "help"
Gerson appreciate their efforts while geno did his best not to let another vase get broken again.
Soon everything was done and gerson sent geno to get the kids to bed while he went ahead to get the rest of the staff.
Everyone started to set up their beds as geno kept an eye on them. Once everyone was finished they all hopped onto bed.
"That's sucks," fell said as he counted the beds slowly, "there's less than last time. Where will you sleep?"
"It's fine," geno said as he sat on the floor, "I'll fall asleep anywhere since I don't sleep much."
"Why?" Mini said from the top bunk, geno looked up to her but avoided her eyes.
"Well, I get a lot of dreams when I'm sleep," geno shrugged putting his back against the wall, "I'm not really a fan of those dreams."
Mini stared at geno for a few moments before laying back down in her bed, "I like dreams, I could do anything in them. I could even see my mamas."
Geno looked to the floor, "well, maybe when the time comes you won't need your dreams to see them."
Mini smiled and looked back at geno, "you really think so?"
Geno smiled and nodded, "yeah, I'm sure of it."
Fell looked at geno shyly from his bed, "can....can you read another story to us?"
Some of the kids who were awake as well looked at geno waiting for his answer.
Geno gave a small smiled and sighed, "sure, the Fluffy bunny?"
The kids nodded and fell fished the book out from under his pillow and tossed it to geno who caught it without looking.
"Alrighty," geno said opening the book, "Once upon a time there was a fluffy bunny named....."
°•○●°•○●°•○●
"The end.." geno said, everyone already fell asleep awhile ago but geno kept on reading. Geno closed the book and looked at the authors name,
Molly gaster.
"You really know how to write your stories huh mom." Geno said sadly, "I hope papyrus heard me from here, and If not I hope you read this to him. You never really got the chance."
Geno frowned and got up, he very slowly and quietly walked over to fell and placed the book right next to him making sure not to disturb his sleep.
After placing the book back he grabbed his backpack and walked to the window. He rested his arms on the wood of the opened window and looked out. Even though it was morning, it seemed darker, the blue lights still shined the same brightness they did in the night.
Geno slightly yawned, he was already starting to get used to sleeping in the morning.
He kept himself awake though, keeping his eye on the two guards who stood in front of the tunnel.
How the hell am I going to get passed them? Geno thought, he started to get a bit frustrated but he remembered what death had told him earlier.
♤ "I think you've seen Cam and Judy gard the tunnel in the mornings right?" death said drinking some more of the hot chocolate.
"I'm thinking about giving them a day off tomorrow, probably at three in the afternoon." ♤
Silently gasped and felt a rush of happiness go through him. Finally he got lucky enough to leave, but he didn't have a watch and he couldn't see if there was any clocks around the room.
Geno stretched and made sure to he had all his things ready for when it was time for him to leave. All he could really do is watch the two guards until they leave.
Hours later geno started to doze off, his skull started to fall. Soon he jerked up and opened his eye when his hand could no longer support his skull.
Geno yawned and looked back at the tunnel.
He could see one of the soldiers nudging the other. They both looked at each other for a few moments, geno not taking his eye off them. Soon after a couple of minutes they start to walk away from the tunnel.
Geno's eye widened as he gripped the strap of the backpack. He continued to watch them walk farther away from the tunnel and orphanage.
Once they were completely out of sight geno waited a few more minutes to be safe. Once the few minutes were up geno took a deep breath and tiptoe to the other window on the other side of the room.
He made sure to be completely quiet, not even blinking as he made his way to the window. Carefully he opened it and looked into the trees that the kids evacuated into.
Geno took a deep breath and looked back to the children, he gave a sad smile as he saw then sleep peacefully.
"Please think I was just a dream." Geno said quietly as guilt consumed his soul. He shouldn't have gotten attached, it made things more difficult than it already was.
Geno turned back to the window and clenched his teeth. And without looking back, he jumped out the window.
He landed silently on the ground, and quickly sprinted into the trees. He ran a bit deep into the trees but not too far in.
He put his back against a tree and took a few deep breaths. His soul was pounding with adrenaline, nervousness and fear that his plan will backfire.
After a minute of calming down geno took a deep breath and looked through the trees. He couldn't see the tunnel, but he knew that the trees were closed to it. All he had to do was keep walking forward till he gets to the end of the trees. Then he'll have to run a short distance to the tunnel.
Geno crouched down and moved slowly, careful not to make a sound. Sweat dripped from his skull as he got closer and closer to the end of the trees. Soon he got to the end of the trees. He gulped as he saw the tunnel, he soul started to pound nervously. It was only a short distant run but geno felt paranoid, he felt eyes watching him.
Geno shook it off, and slowly stood up. He got into a running stance and took a deep breath.
"So you really were going to go for it,"
Geno nearly screamed but heald his mouth closed with his hands.
He felt someone land behind him, slowly he turned.
"D-death." Geno gasped as he was face to face with him. Deaths face was expressionless as he looked down at geno.
Geno slowly stood up and gulped waiting for death to speak or do anything. Death sighed and looked back into the trees.
He pulled a brown strap from his shoulder and handed the bag to geno. Geno took it confused, death looked back at geno.
"I only gave them a 20 minute break, so you don't have much time." Death said, geno's eye widened and looked at death.
"You're helping me?" Geno said, death rubbed the back of his neck and looked away.
"Look," death said and closed his eyes, "if I had a family waiting for me.......I would leave too. Inside the bag is a few maps, some food and water with a compass and a flash light with extra batteries."
Geno's eye shined as he looked into the bag, "death, i.....thank you."
Death gave a small smile, "you can repay me by burning the maps when you find your way home"
Geno nodded frantically, "of course, I will."
Death took a breath of air, "good, and geno." Death called, his hand brushed against geno's cheek making him look up to him.
Deaths eye shined a dark ocean blue as he stared into geno's eye, for some reason geno's eye glow was triggered with it.
Death raised a slight ' eyebrow ' as he saw geno's eye glow. It reminded him of the stars that he's seen in the picture books he has.
Getting back in his thoughts death stared at geno a bit more seriously now.
"Please, geno." Death said in a smooth voice, "don't make me regret letting you leave."
Geno looked back at death more seriously, "you won't." He said in a serious voice.
Death smiled and backed away, "you have six minutes till they return, good luck." Death said as he turned smaller, he flew up as far as he could go under the mountain in his bat form.
Geno stared till he was completely out of sight, and looked back at the tunnel.
His feet moved before his thoughts had a chance to process everything. Every step he ran he got closer to the tunnel and without hesitation he ran inside. His steps echoed loudly but he kept running.
Finally he made it outside the tunnel, the grey fog looked thicker. Even with it being morning it looked pitch black.
Geno put his hand against the concrete outside the tunnel taking a breather.
He took another look back at the tunnel.
What are you doing?
Hesitation to move clouded his body.
This is what you wanted.
Slowly he started to moved away from the tunnel.
What are you waiting for?
He completely turned his back from it and took a step forward.
Leave.
He took a few more steps forward, the fog starting to swallow him. Soon, not a trace of him could be seen.
And never come back.
