Aaron Knight

I continue giving Kevin McCarvey the harshest glare I can from across the room. Seeing him squirm made me smirk proudly.

"Chill man," Seth says as he approaches with a chuckle.

"Why should I?" I grumble and set down my drink.

"All he did was dance with her! And now you want to declare war with him." Seth laughs and sets his elbows on the table.

My eyes travel to Aurora who is sitting with her friend Charlotte a few feet away from us. Numerous men approached her for a dance but she waved them off in annoyance.

I shouldn't have gotten so close to her before when I was dancing with her. She looked really pissed. She pushed me away discreetly and walked away like someone peed in her cereal.

I let my feelings take control of me for a minute. It was a foolish mistake.

"Your so smitten of Aurora." Seth asks smugly.

"Not at all." I say confidently and down my champagne in one go.

"Where's Daniel?" I ask pour some more champagne.

"Where he was from the start of this event. The food table." Seth shrugs and motions towards Daniel who's stuffing his face with biscuits.

"The bastard finished all the strawberries." Seth mutters angrily.

"I'll be sure to get more next time." I assure him with a half grin and fix my suit.

I spot Mike across the room talking to a few gentlemen. I nod at him in acknowledgment and he does the same.

After my.. um attempt, Mike backed off everything. Like a switch went off in him. He all of a sudden wanted to be the perfect father.

I told him the only way he could that was to leave Ray and me alone. He did.

I've had enough betrayal in my life to not trust anyone else.

"Hows running a billion dollar corporate feel like so far?" I question Seth who recently got his family's business handed to him.

"Tiring." He groans.

"And being gay?" I whisper slightly. My respect for Seth still stands and if he doesn't want anyone knowing then I'm there with him.

"Amazing. I'm glad I've come to terms with myself." He says quietly, but happily.

We fall into silence after that. I move my glass around, watching the liquid inside swish on each sides. Seth opens his mouth excitedly to say something,

"My doorman's really hot-,"

"Shut up."

He shuts his mouth immediately, trying to hide a grin. He knows how much I hate talking about guys with him.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I please have your attention?" A man says into the microphone silencing everyone.

Everyone's eyes stray to the stage and the man speaking, who's my co partner.

"Thank you all for coming tonight, I hope you are all enjoying yourselves. On behalf of the KSM Orphanage I would like to thank Mr. Knight for making a hearty donation to kids in need and for holding this charity event." The man says with a wide grin and points at me and starts clapping along with everyone else.

I raise my glass and Seth does too. "A toast to Aaron Knight." Seth says and everyone drinks.

Aurora POV

My face flushed as I think about what happened earlier. The event is soon coming to an end and all I want to do is go home.

"Let's leave. The chauffeurs outside." I suggest to Charlotte and step off the seat.

"You sure?" Charlotte asks hesitantly. "Yes, I'll call my mom and tell her we left."

On our way out my eyes connect with Aaron's and I look away feverishly.

I've had enough of you for one day.

Once we step outside and the cool breeze tickles my skin, I feel okay again.

Our driver holds open the door for us and I get in the car followed by Charlotte.

I've had way too much to drink.

I hate Aaron Knight. I hate the way he makes me feel. I hate the way he stares at me. I hate the way he makes my heart rate speed up.

I hate how I'm lying right now.

It's a short update but another coming later today!
