Aurora Collins

Upon hearing Brenda's voice, my head whipped around so fast, I think I heard my neck crack. I stare at Brenda like a fish out of water with my mouth open and my eyes wide. She stood there smiling at me, wearing leggings and a big puffy yellow jacket while clutching Vera Wang shopping bags.

"Hi-i Brenda," I say in surprise after collecting myself.

She looks so different from what she did in high school. She got taller, about an inch or two. Her hair is no longer blonde but jet black and down to her hips. I can tell she was returned to London from wherever she was because her tanned skin looks like it's from Hawaii or something.

"Nice to see you Seth, you too Aurora! Last I heard, you were in Florida." She beams at me. completely knocking the breath out of me. I had expected her to be bitchy towards me but no, she was being genuinely nice and friendly.

"Yeah I was, but I wanted to visit my family and friends," I reply just as politely and glance towards Seth when mentions friends and he returns my grin.

"How are you? Where have you been?" Seth jumps in and questions Brenda. He scoots over and motions for Brenda to sit but she shakes her head.

"I have to get going in a little bit. But I've been good, yeah. Just got back from the Caribbeans." She sighed and her hand reached up to tuck a loose strand behind her ear.

Thats when the sparkle on her finger nearly blinded me.

I gasped and pointed to her hand. "Are you....?" I ask in shock and cover my mouth at how big the diamond is.

Seth's eyes travel to where I'm pointing and when he focuses on the ring placed on her finger his eyes widen.

"Married? No, not yet. Just engaged." She laughs and stares down at her ring in a daze of love. I can't help but adore the way she looks right now, completely and utterly lost in love.

"Congrats! Do we know him?" I ask with a smile and clasp my hands. Things like this just get me so excited.

"Probably not. His name is Mason Trudford. I met him while I was in Ireland for a week." She says dreamily and Seth speaks up.

"Oh Trudfords boy? They're good people I hear." He comments and nods in approval. Oh. The Trudfords are interesting people I hear. But overall, I met Mason once and he's a fantastic guy. Really charming.

"They are." She says softly with a grateful look.

"Well? How'd you meet him?" I urge on with a laugh.

"Okay so, one day it was raining really hard and I was under a tree, freezing, alone, with no umbrella or phone because I was out on a jog and forgot my basic necessities. But I'm glad I did. So he offered me his umbrella and walked me home. And I guess we just hit it off." She finishes off with a full blown smile and my heart melts with admiration.

"Wow, that sounds so romantic," I say and pursue my lips in happiness for Brenda.

"Are we invited to the wedding?" Seth laughs jokingly and Brenda's mouth flies open.

"If you guys are willing to come then definitely!" She says excitedly with a sparkle in her eyes.

I stare at Seth unsurely and shift uncomfortably. "I mean you don't have to make the decision right now. Im going to send an invite to everyone with the details." She says quickly and wraps her coat around her tighter.

"Thank you," I respond with a smile. Thank god I didn't have to make up my mind right now. She might have changed her ways but I don't how much shes changed.

"Well I'll get going then, I have another reunion to get too." She laughs and backs away.

"It was nice seeing you. Good luck with everything." Seth and I call out. She turns around one last time before leaving.

"Aurora?" She pauses and looks down hesitantly before meeting my eye again. She gives me a soft smile. "I'm sorry for everything I did in high school. I was driven by jealousy." She confesses. My brain stopped working for a second but I wave it off with a shake of my head.

"All is forgiven and forgotten," I call out and she disappears into her car, driving off.

I turn to Seth with wide eyes and lean back into the wall. "Wow."

"No words needed." He agrees and stands up.

"Food?" He asks and zips up his sweater. I stand up and stretch my legs that are aching from sitting for so long. "Let's go." I say and grab our bags.

"This dress is gorgeous," Charlotte says baffled and runs her hands over the red dress. I got home about an hour ago and Charlotte was already here, scrolling through instagram when I arrived.

"Right? I don't know what he's got planned but I've got a good feeling with this dress."

"It's tomorrow right?"

"Yes, it is," I say nervously and slide under my covers. Charlotte takes a seat on the edge and types away on her phone.

I stare at her face and realize she never talks about her relationship with Dickhead Daniel.

"Tell me about you and Daniel," I say suddenly and sit up. She turns off her phone and faces me. She clasps her hands together and shifts around.

"I think I'm falling in love with him."

I burst out laughing but when her facial expression doesn't change my face turns serious.

"Oh," I cough and fidget around awkwardly.

"And I don't think he's taking our relationship seriously." She says sadly with a frown and her eyes tear up.

"Hey, hey. You don't know that." I say comfortingly and put a hand on her shoulder.

A tear slides down her cheek and she hastily wipes it away. But more tears fall and she just sits there with slumped shoulders and red eyes.

"Yes, I do." She replies and cries softly. Her chest rising up and down.

I'm sorry for the late update. I honestly can't update in time. But hopefully, another one coming soon.
