3.19.22 | making gifs on photopea
hi y'all!! so this is a little different than what I usually do in this book, but I figured why not put this here!!
1-800-PETERTINGLE HIII MY DUDE!!
I hope that this helps you out!!
today I will be creating my first graphic tutorial about making a story/sign-off gif in photopea!!
first: you can find photopea on basically any device that has a search engine!! but for the gifs I 100% recommend using a computer or laptop because the program simply works better.
once you open up photopea on the web or on the app (only available as an app on a computer) go into the top left corner, select file and then new.
pick or create the size of the thing that you're making and once you have it up like this select two (or more) gifs.
go to that file button again and select open (this will allow you to select the two downloaded gif files and will upload them into the program).
once the two gifs appear they will be alongside the empty piece you want to edit them together in. select the "group" of layers on the right and make sure the blending mode appears to me "pass through" (the image after the next shows this)
then select the layer tab and go down to "duplicate into"
be sure to pick where you the gif moved to
next you'll need to edit both gifs in order to line them up in size and proportion to how you like.
look up along the top again and find the tab "edit" then go down towards the bottom to find "free transform" and "transform"
*transform offers pre-set changes to the gif (horizontal,vertical,90 degrees) meanwhile free transform allows you to resize and rotate the gif as you please!!
(photopea's program is nice and won't delete any part of the gif or image that goes outside of the frame)
next you'll need to blend the two gifs. in order to do that you'll need to erase part of one of the gifs. pick which one you want on top or in bottom (I usually make this decision based on the backgrounds) and just drag it carefully above or below the other file.
then select the top gif and be sure that the blending mode is on "pass through" again and then go down and press that rectangle with the circle in it missing to add a "raster mask" (this will allow you to erase and add back erased sections)
now or gets a little weird. in photopea when you erase on an image you use the eraser and the drawing tool acts as an actual drawing tool. BUT when it comes to gifs you have to have a raster mask which makes things screw up a little!! the drawing tool will work like an eraser and the eraser will add back erased parts!!
once you have the gifs blended as you wish be sure to check that the gifs are similar in part number (all gifs are made up of a lot of images moving at a certain speed. over time you'll learn and figure out the differences. ie if one of your gifs has a speed of 50 out beside it and the other has 100 you'll roughly need half of the first gifs amount BUT a speed difference of ten (like 70 and 80 is fine and won't need to be edited unless one has a lot more parts than the other) the two I used for this had a speed of 70 and 80 and like 43 and 45 parts so I just let it be!!
once you have everything figured out go to the "layer" tab again and go to animation. then select merge. photopea will take all gifs and put them together into a combined gif. you can add text and psds on top of that or before you merge (photopea is rlly good about only merging gifs together!!)
when you finish, go back to that left hand corner you started at and select "file" scroll down to export and select how you want your file exported!! for a gif you have to select "gif" and the following screen will appear after some time!!
the gif will play for you and using the speed you can slow it down or speed it up as you like
photopea allows you to change the size of the gif in their program. under the gif it'll have the size there for you (Wattpad only allows gifs at 3.0 and below). You can go over to the right and change the size with the height/width sections (changing one will change the other!!)
*if you have problems with the size of the gif other than file size I recommend you change things around in ezgif, change the size a bit drastically, or delete a few of the "frames of the gif"
select save and now we have a gif!!
(here it is with psds and the font)
tzar-of-torture hello love!! this is a very awkward way to give you your request lol. but anyways here it is!! I hope that you like it, pm me about the link!!
