[9] On your ass
[Outfit Above]
S5 Ep: 12 "Remember"
My jaw dropped at the older slightly greyed man, he looked the same besides the faint wrinkles and lighter hair. "Dad?" I breathed out loudly enough to gain weird looks from everyone in the group along with Aaron and Nicholas. The man looked up in confusion, I watched as his eyes slowly narrowed and looked back into mine before searching my face. "My God...Bree" Glenn let go of my hand at his words giving me the availability to run forward and jump up to him, I wrapped my arms tightly around his shoulders as I Buried my face into his neck crying. Through my tears, I could still breathe in his recognizable scent.
Slowly after what felt like forever my feet met the ground, I pulled back from him and wiped the tears off of my reddened face. Looking over my shoulder my dad smiled gratefully at Rick. "It's good to see you again Rick." Rick only nodded in greeting, clearing his throat my dad looked around at our large group. "Let's get you all to Deanna and then settled in."
"Who's Deanna?" I asked curiously. "She knows everything you'd want to know about this place." My dad explained before taking my hand and leading us towards a big house down the street. Glenn and Rick quickly caught up with us walking on either side as everyone else was closely behind. Looking over at Glenn my dad looked at him with a smile. "It's good to see you Glenn. I'm glad you two were still together through all of this." Glenn smiled lovingly at me looking right into my eyes "Always"

"Hello. I'm Deanna Monroe." A shoulder-length haired woman greeted as I stepped into the large living room of the house. She gestured towards the lone chair in front of her and a camera. I hesitantly made my way forward and sat in the seat, I met the kind blue-green eyes of the woman before me as she offered a friendly smile. I pursed my lips as I made sure my guard was still up, she seemed friendly but so did those people at Terminus.
"Do you mind if I record this?" I shook my head slightly at her question and couldn't help but look around at the neat house. "What's your name?" My eyes flickered back at met hers. "Aubree. Aubree Morris-Rhee" Her head tilted as she rose a questioning brow. "Morris? Any relation to our guard James?" I nodded as a smile pulled at my lips. "Yeah..my dad." She smiled "I assume you met him when you came in?"
I nodded "Your father told me about Marcus. Is he here with you?" I blinked back any possible tears from the memory of his death still being fresh in my mind. "No..he-he's gone." Deanna nodded solemnly. "I'm sorry for your loss." She took in a breath for a moment before changing the topic. "I see your married." She started and I followed her eyes to my ring. "Are they here?" I nodded as I fiddled with it nervously. "Did you meet before? Or after?"
I smiled as Glenn's face came to mind. "I've known him since we were kids. We've been together through this since the start but we've only been married for a little while." She looked at me curiously. "I was a congress woman before this. What did you do before?"
"I was a paramedic through and after highschool. Went into med school when I was twenty and this all started before I could get into my fourth year." She smiled at me like she knew something I didn't. "What made you want to become a doctor?"
"My mom. I used to go to work with her and intern at the hospital while she was there. I wanted to help people like her." Deanna leaned forward in her seat with a small smile. "We have a very good surgeon and doctor here but we could always use more. Everyone here has a job and I would like you to continue studying with our doctors." I sat up in the seat and looked back at her slightly nervous. "If possible I would like to stay on the run team. Glenn and I have been doing runs together since the beginning. I can still study..but..I would prefer to do that." She smiled "Of course."

After the interviews Deanna had us hand all of our guns and other weapons over to a woman named Olivia who runs the storages. "They're still your guns. You can check them out whenever you go beyond the wall. But inside here, we store them for safety." Carol was the last one to put her weapons on the tray, she purposely fumbled with the strap of her riffle. She was playing the innocent house mother.
"Should have brought another bin." Olivia joked with an awkward smile before backing up out of the fenced backyard. Deanna then led our group down the road to two big mansion like houses.

I walked out of the bathroom in fresh clothes, clean skin and hair and even teeth. I walked downstairs and into the connected living room, dining room and kitchen where we were all staying for the night. I sat down next to Glenn on the floor, I turned my body to face his and cupped his clean face in my smaller hands. "Look at you" I teased with an uplifting smile. Glenn chuckled softly and draped his hands on my thighs.
"Hairs gotten long..Rick said some woman named Jessie was offering haircuts if we wanted them." I shook my head slowly and ran my fingers through his hair causing him to sigh in content and lean into it. "Nah..I kinda like it" Glenn looked up and rose a brow with a smirk. "Oh yeah?" I nodded with a hum. "Mhm" The two of us were smiling goofily at each other until someone started knocking on the front door, everyone each set a hand on something close to them ready to fight.
Rick carefully opened the door and Deanna stepped in but stopped when her eyes set on Rick. "Rick, I-- Wow." Rick groaned and set a hand on his hip as he held the door open. "I didn't know what was under there. Listen, I don't mean to interrupt. I just wanted to stop by and see how you were all settling." Deanna's eyes finally drifted away from Ricks as she looked into the big room where we all were together. "Oh, my. Staying together. Smart."
Rick shrugged. "No one said we couldn't. You said you're a family. That's what you said. Absolutely amazing to me how people with completely different backgrounds and nothing in common can become that. Don't you think?" Deanna smiled softly as she spoke. Rick leaned his hand against the door. "Everybody said you gave them jobs." Nodding Deanna hummed. "Mm-hmm. Yeah. Part of this place." She looked back up at Rick and couldn't help but chuckle. "Looks like the communists won after all." She snarked with a grin and I could see a flicker of Ricks guard settle for a moment.
"Well, you didn't give me one." Deanna nodded once at Ricks inquiry. "I have. I just haven't told you yet. Same with Michonne." She nodded her head over at the dark skinned woman. "I'm closing in on something for Sasha. And I'm just trying to figure Mr. Dixon out, but I will." Deanna looked back at Rick with the same smile. "You look good." She nodded once more before departing leaving us all to curl up and get some much needed rest.

Glenn, Tara, Noah and I were wandering around in town when we came across two guys leaving a big building. The short haired one pointed to each of us as he said our names. "Glenn, Aubree, Tara, Noah?" We each nodded and the guy smiled. "Nice to meet you. I'm Aiden. You met Nicholas pulling gate duty." He nodded over to the same curly haired guy from when we first got here.
"You're Deanna's son?" Glenn asked and Aiden nodded. "That's right. I hear you got experience making supply runs." I tilted my head slightly as I looked at him. "We saw your pantry. You guys seem to be doing pretty well." Aiden shrugged slightly as he looked around at our group. "Yeah, well, had some training before this. ROTC. Was nearing lieutenant when this shit blew in." Noah looked over at him with squinted eyes due to the sun. "My dad did ROTC."
"He didn't make it?" Aiden guessed and Noah shook his head. "Nah." Aiden looked down. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry a lot these days." Sighing silently he looked back up at us all. "Come on, I'll show you the ropes." Tara looked after him with crossed arms as he passed her. "We're doing a run today?" Aiden shrugged. "Just a dry run. Show you the terrain outside the walls, see how you do. Weigh each other's sack a little, you know?"
Tara looked at me and we both knitted our brows, she turned back towards Aiden and shook her head. "No, I don't, but cool." I looked at Aiden and noticed he didn't have any weapons out. "What about weapons?" The brunette nodded with a wide grin. "Oh, yeah. We pulled out some sweet-ass biscuits for today." I mentally rolled my eyes at his nickname for guns. Nicholas pulled out a gun one by one handing them to us, after receiving her gun Tara stepped towards me and switched.
Aiden made a face as he looked at me after I hit the clip back in place after checking it. "What didn't like the other one?" He snarked which led to me clenching my jaw as I looked up at him. "No. This is my gun." Aiden scoffed "No one claims the guns. Their all put together, you get what you get." Keeping my anger in check I simply put my gun in my holster before looking back at him. "This gun was my brothers. Now it's mine."

I had already come to the conclusion that Aiden was an asshole and if he said one more wrong thing I would knock him on his ass which is exactly what I told Glenn who agreed. "We've been increasing our radius mile by mile, spreading in a semicircle around the town." Aiden's high and mighty voice explained as we walked more into the woods. "We've made it 53 miles out so far." Nicholas added as he glanced over his shoulder at the rest of us.
"We break into two groups when we step outside our vehicle. If shit hits, we fire a flare. One group gets the other." Noah nodded as he spoke up. "Good system." He's got one thing right, let's hope he doesn't lose that. "It is. Still, you're standing here because we lost four people last month." The four of us all shared a glance now more aware. "What happened?" Glenn questioned as we kept walking.
"We were on a run, roamers came out, they didn't follow the system." Nicholas added quietly. "They were good people." Nodding Aiden continued on. "They were. They were just scared. Look, I can be a hard-ass. And I know I'm a douchebag. Someone's got to call the ball around here and that someone is me." Aiden turned around now facing the four of us as we slowed down. "If you're on this crew, you do exactly as I say." Tara looked at me and I slightly shrugged.
She returned the movement before walking forward with Noah. "Sorry you lost your people." She apologized genuinely. "Yeah. We got ours." Nicholas grinned as we walked around a few trees into a sort of clearing. "Managed to snag one of the deadheads that took them down. Strung it up there." He gestured to a tree ahead of us, at his words my eyes widened in horror. You kept it as a play thing? "What? Why?" Glenn voiced with the same expression.
"Now we have a little pregame ritual. Get our heads on straight." I frowned nervously as we kept getting closer. "Remind us what we're up against." I looked past Nicholas and Aiden after they spoke and saw a bloodied chain left behind. Flies were around the guts that were stuck on the chain. "Son of a bitch! Help me find it." Aiden slid off his gun while Nicholas took off his backpack. "Look at this shit. Blood's still wet. It's nearby." Everyone spread out a bit keeping our guards up in case it came back. Nicholas suddenly started to whistle loudly. Tara and I spun on our toes shushing him while Glenn stepped in. "Hey-- hey, hey. It's gone."
Aiden turned towards him as he messed with the chains. "It took down one of our friends. It's nearby, we're not letting it go." Nicholas whistled again and started clapping to try and attract it, well it worked. Aiden turned around and moved out of the way just in time for said walker to move past him. Nicholas continued clapping and brought the walker towards him. "Hey, over here. Come on. Come on." Noah quickly pulled his gun out, clicking it and aiming for the walker. Nicholas held a hand out towards him. "No, don't touch it."
"The rest of you, back off." Aiden demanded as he grabbed onto the walkers arms, trying to pull the dead flesh back he ended up starting to lose his grip. Besides me Tara pulled out her knife ready to take it down if necessary. She walked closer just as the walker turned around and grabbed onto Aiden, before Tara could get to it Aiden turned the walker back around and threw it at me. Dead hands grabbed onto my shoulders and knocked me back onto the ground. I grunted as I tried to hold it back with my hands against its own shoulders but the skin started to rip. "Hold on to it!" I heard Aiden yell but my focus was just to keep it from biting me.
The walker started to close in on me as I was losing my grip before Tara got to me and stabbed it in the head. Glenn rushed to my side and helped me up as Tara pushed it off of me, the latter was furiously checking me over. "Did it get you?" He panicked, I shook my head as I caught my breath. "What the hell?!" Aiden screamed. "Screw you" I breathed out with a harsh glare but Glenn's was worse. "You almost got her killed!" Aiden got right back into Glenn's face. "I told you all to stay back! I told you to listen to every damn thing I said. I told you that."

The whole way back Glenn stayed beside me with a deathly glare focused on the back of Aiden's head. "You three need new gigs. You're not ready for runs yet." Aiden stated as we all re-entered Alexandria. "Yeah, pretty sure you got that backwards." Glenn retorted as we continued walking back to the house. "Hey. Hey." Aiden touched Glenn's arm causing us all to stop. "Look, we got a way of doing things around here." Glenn turned around now fully facing him. "You tied up walkers." Aiden shrugged and raised his voice. "It killed our friend." He shook his head and took a step back as he glanced at all of us. "Look, I'm not having this conversation. You obey my orders out there." Multiple people from the town had begun to gather as they watched. "Then we're just as screwed as your last run crew." Glenn remarked, I instantly knew that would piss Aiden off further.
"Say that again." Aiden warned as he stepped up to Glenn. "No, back off, Aiden." Tara said from behind him. Aiden pushed Glenn backwards but Glenn still hadn't tried to fight back. "Come on, man. Just take a step back." Aiden pushed Glenn once more. "Come on, tough guy." Glenn still hadn't made a move. "No one's impressed, man. Walk away." Deanna came running up. "Aiden! What is going on?"
Not taking his eyes off Glenn he spoke. "This guy's got a problem with the way we do things." He looked over his shoulder to his mother. "Why did you let these people in?"
"Because we actually know what we're doing out there." Glenn said and Aiden spun around swinging right at him but he ducked and punched him in the face. "Aiden, no! That's enough!" Deanna called just as he dropped and Nicholas came running towards Glenn. Daryl ran forward and tackled him before he had the chance. "I said that is enough!" Deanna shouted at him, I looked up as the gate creaked open and in came Rick and Carl.
Rick ran forward and grabbed onto Daryl, Aiden stood up and stepped towards Glenn again but I spun him around by grabbing onto his arm and pinning it against his back. "I am going to let you go but if you try anything, I will knock you on your ass. Got it?" Aiden groaned as I pulled on his arm and nodded frantically. I released him and he jumped back clearly having not expected me to be that strong.
"You alright Bree?" I looked up at the sound of my dad's voice seeing him jogging towards our group. I nodded "Yeah. Fine dad." Aiden's eyes seemed to have widened slightly before he hid it. Looks like someone might be afraid of my dad, he can be scary when he wants to be. "I want everyone to hear me, okay?" Deanna called out not only to use but to the people surrounding the area. "Rick and his people are part of this community now in all ways as equals. Understood?" Deanna pointedly looked over at Aiden who eventually shrugged exasperatedly. "Understood."
"All of you, turn in your weapons." Deanna told before gesturing to her son and Nicholas. "Then you two come talk to me." Aiden and Nicholas along with most of the towns people disperesed leaving our group. "I told you I had a job for you." Deanna started as she looked up at Rick. "I'd like you to be our constable. That's what you were. That's what you are." She looked over at Michonne. "And you, too." She looked back at Rick with a raised brow. "Will you accept?" Nodding Answered. "Okay." Michonne then agreed. "Yeah, I'm in."
Behind Rick Daryl scoffed and picked up his crossbow before storming off. Deanna then turned to Glenn and I. "Thank you." Glenn glanced at me before looking back at the shorter woman. "For what?" Glenn inquired. "For knocking him on his ass."

Gathered back in the living room I leaned back into Glenn's chest as he wrapped his arms completely around me, embracing me in his warmth. From the floor Tara closed the book she was reading and looked up at the two of us. "How did you learn to do that?" She asked out of the blue. I knitted my brows in thought. "Do what?" She shrugged slightly. "What you did to Aiden the douchebag." I snickered. "Oh that..heh" I chuckled lightly. "My dad taught me when I was younger." Tara smirked "Think you could teach me?" I nodded with a grin "Hell yeah"

I need a Glenn in my life...
Before anyone who is also a vpd fan starts to freak or hate me give me a minute. Ever since. I first started this story last year I knew who i wanted to play Aubrees dad. It also so happens that her mother is played by Jody aka Jo from vpd..I couldn't help it.
In another story I am writing at the moment "Ethereal" and Barry Allen story I was going to use Matt as the fc for a chapter there because he fits but in light of all the recent news i switched him to the unproblematic and wonderful Jensen Ackles.
Anyway, as always comment what you guys thought, what you think is coming up, who you'd like to see interact more with Aubree ect.
Xoxo - A
