A/N- If blood and murder scenes or parts trigger you I think you should skip the first few paragraphs of the story.

The high pitched scream echoed through the darkness. Shu and Lui froze on their spots. "W-what's that?" Shu muttered as Lui took his hand. 

"Let's go and find out what"

"But that could be dangerous you know?" Shu reasoned.

Lui looked at him. "Shu, the path to our house is that way. We'll have to pass that side no matter what."

Shu slowly nods as he followed Lui. The sound came from a nearby storehouse. And it was abandon for a long time. Most of the people avoided that place in any case because of the rumors going on about ghosts and stuff. Not like Lui believed in ghosts. They stepped to the door and peeked in. Shu's eyes widen at the sight. Two men standing near a body. One had a large axe in his hand and the other had crouched down beside it. The dead man was lying on a pool of blood. He still seem to have alive cause Shu could see his chest rising like crazy trying to breath like a fish out of water. He had a major wound on his head and the blood was gushing out of it making half of his face completely red. Shu clasped his hands in front of his mouth trying to silence himself. The scene in front of his was terrifying. Lui looked at Shu who was now shaking in fear. He pulled his arm and took cover behind a large box.

He looked at Shu and pulled a finger in front of him gesturing him to be silence. Shu nodded still trembling. They could hear the men's voices. "We told you didn't we? Messing with us is the biggest mistake you've ever done"

"This is your punishment" The other man said raising the axe. Shu and Lui could see everything perfectly. The man raised his axe and hit the wounded one last time. Shu yelped unintentionally. Lui cursed silently as he looked at the two men again. They were looking at their side. The dragon blader closed his eyes taking a deep breath trying to calm himself. 

"Did you hear that?" One of them asked.

"Yes, it came behind that box" 

The two boys froze. Their hearts thumping inside their chests. It was only a matter of time until they find them. Lui did the only thing that came to his mind. He slipped his hand into Shu's and looked at him. Shu looked paler than usual it didn't take a genius to find out that Shu was scared out of hell at the moment. And Lui was too but he still had a clear mind so he leaned to Shu and whispered. "When I say run you'll have to come with me"

Shu nodded shakily. Footsteps become closer and closer in each minute. And then Lui got up and kick the boxes making them fall right into the killers and dragging Shu with him they ran. "Wha- wait you brats" One of the men cried as they started to chase them.

They ran in silent alleys of the night. The newfound adrenaline inside their blood made them easier to keep their speed. But the two men kept a low pace behind them running almost fast as the boys. "Kill them" One yelled at the other. "Boss's orders is to kill any eye witnesses"

Shu felt his legs become weaker. He couldn't take this anymore. The more they ran they more weaker he felt. Suddenly Lui dragged him to a dark alleyway. They can hear the footsteps. Lui pulled him into a little empty place between two walls. Both of them were cramped inside but it was a perfect place to hide. The footsteps stopped. Lui looked at Shu who was still shaking. He pulled him into a hug and make the younger rest his head against his chest. Shu listened to the racing heartbeat of his boyfriend he closed his eyes rightly wrapping his arms around the other. 

"Where did the brats go?" One voice called. 

Then a ringing of a phone could be heard. After some talking the man raised his voice again. "We're dead meat. Boss is mad he needs us to come back Sato let's go"

Shu and Lui waited till the footsteps fade away in the distance. Then they came out from their hiding spot. Shu stumbled into Lui's arms. Lui looked at him with a worried face. "Shu, You okay?"

Shu nodded unable to form words after the shocking experience they just had. Lui wrapped one of his hand around Shu's shoulders and lead him to the house. The thing both of them failed to notice was two men smirking for themselves as they followed the two.

They quickened his pace. The darkness surrounded them looked scary after what they witnessed. On top of them all clouds have started to gather in the sky covering the once bright stars. When they reached the house Lui knocked on the door. Mrs. Shirasagi was the one who opened it. She looked at the two boys and told them to come in.

"Shu, are you fine? You look pale"

That's when Lui noticed the change of the albino. He looked like he's sick. Paler than usual and his face was covering with sweat. Lui can see that his hands and legs were slightly shaking. "I-I'm fine. J-just cold"

Mrs. Shirasagi frowned pressing the back of his hand to his forehead. "You don't have a fever"

"Mom, I think he needs rest" Lui replied hurriedly as he took Shu's wrist and lead him to his room. As soon as Lui closed the door behind them Shu sank down to the floor covering his face from his hands. His breathing became heavy. 

Shu raised his head. "Do you think they followed us?"

Lui sat down beside him. "I don't think so. Don't worry Shu, I'm here"

Shu wrapped his arms around the older as he sniffled slightly. Lui ran his hands through his white locks in a comforting manner. After a while his breathing became steady. Lui took him to the bed and threw the covers over them. It had been an exhausting day for both of them.

Lui got up from a sound beside him. As he guessed it should've been the middle of the night. Beside him Shu was trembling but he was still asleep. He was gripping the bed sheet tightly as sweat roll down his forehead.  He was whimpering slightly. Lui sat down on his bed deciding whether to wake the albino or not. When Shu's whimpers got louder Lui decided it's better to wake him up. 

He slowly placed his hand on Shu's shoulder shaking him. "Shu, It's just a nightmare wake up"

Shu didn't wake up. He knitted his brows together. He shook the boy a little bit harder this time. And Shu woke up almost jolted up with a loud gasp. He looked around frantically when he meets Lui's eyes he let himself relaxed knowing that he's safe. "A bad dream?"

Shu nodded. "B-blood" He muttered gripping the bed sheets again. "I-I can't sleep"

Lui laced their fingers together. "Shu look at me"

Shu turned his gaze toward the dragon blader. Lui cupped his cheeks and peered to his eyes. "I know you're terrified after the incident and it's normal to be like that but I'm here with you okay? Don't worry about it much"

Shu bit his bottom lip but slowly nodded in return. "O-okay"

But before they could talk more the door bell rang. Lui and Shu looked at each other both boys held the same thought in their mind. "Who is it? In the middle of the night"

Lui was first to act. He jump off the bed and Shu followed him. When the two walked to the living room. Everything was in chaos. A man held a gun to Mrs. Shirasagi's head. Mr. Shirasagi was trying to talk it out. "Mom"Lui cried almost jumping out the next few steps on the staircase.

Shu was the one who quickly recognized the faces of the two of them. There were five in total now. And his guess was right those killers have somehow followed them here. One of them smirked as he saw the appearance of the two boys. "Well it's time you two show up"

"Release her now" Lui yelled advancing toward the killers.

"Take another step your mother would be sent to heavens" 

Lui stopped gritting his teeth as the Mr. Shirasagi looked at the boys. "Tell me the truth how do you guys know them?"

Lui growled. "We saw them killing a person"

"Exactly" One of the men said smirking.

Lui's mom whimpered trying to get away from the grasp of the killer but her strength was no use compared to the other man. Shu looked around it was true that he felt terrible right now but for the sake of his boyfriend and his family he needed to do something. That's when he saw Liya peeking behind a door. She was well covered and no one saw her. Shu knew he can't make a move right now. Because the killers knows that he's standing right in front of them but they didn't know Liya was there. Shu glanced at her luckily she did the same. Her violet eyes were filled with tears and fear. Shu gestured her to the phone. The young girl quickly understood what the albino was telling. She tiptoed to the phone. 

He was taken to the present again by a yanking on his hand. One of the guys twisted his hand behind him making him yelp in pain. "Well seems like your short life is going to an end now"

"Shu" Lui cried. He couldn't do anything. From one side his mom was captured and one of the guys was trying to kill his boyfriend.

The tension of the room was broken by a siren sound. One of them cursed. "Who called the police?"

"No time for that let's leave"

But the one who had the gun pointed didn't want to leave just like that he was about to shoot at Mrs. Shirasagi at the head but Lui's dad yanked his arm upward but he ended up shooting Lui's mom on the side of her torso. A painful scream echoes through the house alongside with the gunshot. Lui froze on the spot seeing his mother laying on the floor as blood covered her clothes and the floor. The killers left after a second the police barged in. 

Mrs. Shirasagi was taken to the ambulance most of the officers search through the house to evidence and Shu and Lui was questioned about the incident. After few moments Mr. Shirasagi came in. "I'm going to the hospital"

Shu and Lui looked at each other. Lui almost said that he'll come too but when he realized that his sisters would be alone in the house he chose not to talk. But Shu noticed this. "Both of you can go I'll stay with the girls besides the officers said that they'll be guarding the house for the night. We'll be okay"

"Are you sure?" Lui asked in a hopeful manner. 

Shu nodded getting up from the couch. "Yeah I am now go". Lui looked at his dad expectantly. Mr. Shirasagi nodded. Lui placed a quick peck and whispered against his ear. 

"Thank you"

Shu nodded. He watched the two leaving the house. It was one o'clock in the morning. Liya and Lucy were still inside the room. Shu locked the door and checked the windows one by one. Then he walked to the girl's room only to find the door is locked. "Liya, Lucy It's me Shu open the door"

He could hear the faint footsteps from the other side of the room. The door opened revealing the two sisters. Lucy was clinging to her pillows her eyes wide with fear Liya looked the same but she tried to hide it for her sister. Shu turned on the lights and stepped in closing the door behind him. He knelt opening his arms it doesn't even take a second as Liya and Lucy jumped into the hug and started crying. Shu held both of them tightly rocking them back and forth.

"I want mom" Lucy whispered to his shirt. 

Shu bit his lip unable to form an answer as Liya talked. "Where is mom? Is she okay?"

Shu nodded. "She'll be okay. Your dad and brother went with her don't worry okay?"

Liya nodded. Shu talked again. "You two should sleep now. C'mon"

Shu tucked them both in he was about it leave the room when he heard Liya's faint voice. "I'm scared"

Shu turned around again seeing the pleading eyes of the two girls. He smiled. "You want me to stay the night with you two?"

Lucy nodded eagerly. Shu turned off the light and lay down between the two. Both of them instantly hugged him. Shu could feel that Lucy was slightly shaking. He started to hum a tune of a lullaby like his mother used to do when he was young the two girls slowly drifted into sleep. But for Shu sleep didn't even came for a second. He was wide awake thinking about what was happening in the hospital. He tried calling Lui but he didn't answer the phone. 

Back at the hospital Lui paced back and forth. His mom was taken into a surgery and Dad was completing some important files regarding to the surgery. Lui waited by the door after a while his Dad came to join him. "Lui calm down"

Lui looked at his dad. "She'll be okay right?"

Mr. Shirasagi nodded. "Yes now don't panic okay? You have to stay strong"

Lui nodded. Right at the cue the doors opened revealing a doctor in a white coat. Both of them walked to him. "How's my wife?"

The Doctor looked at them. "We still don't know. The surgery was a success but currently she's in a coma. The gunshot was too deep. We can't know for sure whether she'll be okay or not"

Lui clenched his fists. "Damn it, She got to be okay"

The doctor walked away telling them the room number of Mrs. Shirasagi and that they can visit her now. 

The dawn break through the windows of the Shirasagi household. Shu got up not waking the other two. He stepped out of the room to the kitchen. They were going to visit the hospital with the two girls and She thought bringing food for the other two would be good cause Lui didn't like cafeteria food. Shu went through some ingredients and thought making sandwiches would be the best. He felt exhausted after the lack of sleep last night. His skin looked sickly pale and he had dark bags under his eyes. After a while he went to the room to wake up the girls. 

"Liya, Lucy wake up" Liya stirred and slowly woke up. Rubbing her eyes she sat on the bed. Shu got them dressed and lead the to the dining table. 

"I'm not hungry" Lucy muttered looking down. "I want to see mom"

Shu crouched down beside her. "I know both of you are scared even I am. But your mom would be sad if she found out that you two are starving because of her. Do you want to make her sad?"

Lucy shook her head. Shu gestured at the food as Lucy slowly started eating. Shu went back to the kitchen and packed some food to the other two and placed them on the dining table. "Shu-kun did you eat?"

Shu smiled ruffling Liya's hair slightly. "I'll eat with your brother okay?"

Lucy nodded. Mr. Shirasagi had sent a taxi to fetch up them. They got in and it was almost nine when they got down at the hospital. Lucy and Liya cling to each of his hands. Shu found out the number of the room and lead the two girls into it. When the enter there was only Mr. Shirasagi was inside. He was sitting near the bed staring at his wife. "Dad" Lucy and Liya cried out loud. The man turned around and hugged the two girls. 

Shu stared at the scene in front of him. He walked to them. "  I bought breakfast" He looked at the boy standing in front of him and smiled. 

"Thanks for taking care of them"

Shu smiled. "Don't mind it. Where is Lui?"

"Oh he went to the balcony there"

Shu nodded and excused himself from the room. He opened the door to the balcony and stepped out to see Lui staring at the space. His expression was hard to read. His violet eyes held a distant look. "Lui" Shu softly said placing a hand on his shoulder. 

"Go away. I need sometime alone" He snapped slapping his hand away as a result accidentally slapping Shu in the process. 

Shu took a step back holding his throbbing cheek. Lui stared at his with his eyes widen in complete disbelief of what had he just done. However Shu smiled. "Okie then I'll come back later"

Lui clenched his fists. "Yell at me"

Shu turned to him and blink. "Huh?"

"Don't just smile and leave. Just tell something. Just hit me back. Don't be too kind to me Shu"

Shu took a step to him. "Why should I? I know you didn't mean it. It was an accident Lui and you're upset I know it. I shouldn't have bothered you. Besides it's my fault I shouldn't have yelled when I see that man killing. If I stayed silent nothing would've happened. I put you all in danger. I'm sorry. I really am"

Lui bit his lip. He reached his hand to Shu's cheek and softly caress his skin. "It's not your fault. It's mine. Don't feel guilty when you didn't do anything wrong."

"But-" Shu was cut off by Lui. He cupped his cheek and pressed a kiss on his lips. After they pulled away Lui looked at the bag Shu was holding. "I'm not hungry Shu"

Shu stared down at the breakfast. "But you should eat something. Or else you'll end up sick as well" 

Lui took Shu's hand and sat down at the nearby chairs. "You'll have to eat too. I know you haven't eaten either"

Shu blinked. "How do you know that?"

"Your my boyfriend I know everything about you. And it seems like you haven't slept either" Lui reasoned looking at the boy.

Shu hummed in reply letting out a yawn. "Yeah. I was thinking about you and you mom"

Lui opened the bag and took out the food. A comfortable silence enveloped the two. They ate enjoying the silence around them. After that they went back to the hospital room to see Zac and Xander talking with Mr. Shirasagi. 

"Hey" said Xander when the noticed the two boys entering the room. 

Zac walked to Lui. "You Okay?"

"Yeah thanks for coming. "Lui muttered as Zac smiled. 

"We're a team and good friends so we need to come" 

Xander went to Shu and placed his hand on the albino's head. "Shu, you look pale. Are you okay for sure?"

Shu smiled tilting his head. "Yes I am. just tired"

"Don't worry, If he didn't take a rest today I'll force him to do that" Lui said.

Xander chuckled with a nod. "I believe in you"

Shu huffed playfully. They all talked for few more minutes and said there goodbyes. Shu paced back and forth by the window of the hospital room. He was deep in thought as he stared to the space. Lui called his name. "Shu something wrong?"

Shu bit his bottom lip before answering. "I have somewhere important to go. Is it okay if I left for few minutes?"

Lui frowned. "Where to?"

"Just some place. I promise nothing would happen"

"But isn't it dangerous? The murderers are still out there looking for us"

"I'll come quick don't worry"

Lui nodded hesitantly. Shu pressed a quick kiss on his cheek and leave the room and the hospital. He walked alongside the busy paths. He stopped looking at the building he wanted to enter. He entered the police station and walked to the officer who was in charge of the case. 

"Oh Mr. Kurenai something wrong?" He asked looking at the albino.

"Just Shu would be fine. Anyway have you guys found them? Any clue?" Shu asked.

The officer smiled. "Take a seat Shu"

Shu smiled back and took the seat in front of him. He looked at the officer fiddling with his fingers nervously . After a while he spoke. "And no we haven't found them yet. We're searching the whole area but no clue. It would be easy if we used a bait but we haven't found a suitable one still"

Shu clenched his fists. "They're looking for me right? Then if I'd become the bait for the trap there is a chance?"

The officer looked at him surprised. "No Shu we cant do that. You're still young besides it's very dangerous. We can't predict what will happen. You can even get kidnapped by them. One wrong move your life would be in danger"

"I take all the challenges. I can't wait and see Lui's family getting hurt. I'll do it. Please let me do it. If something happen I'll take the full responsibility of everything. Please I'm begging you" Shu pleaded.

The officer sighed rubbing his temples. "I've never seen a person like you Shu. But since you're desperate about this I'll give you the chance but now go to somewhere quiet and think about this again. Don't put yourself in danger Shu"

Shu gave him a determined expression. "No I'm sure about this. I will do it. I don't want time to think I know what I'm doing"

Officer smiled. "Such potential in a young boy. Interesting. Okay I'll make the call"

Shu nods pulling out his phone and sending a text to Lui. 

To Sharkie: Sorry Lui, something came up. I won't be coming for the hospital today. I'm really sorry. I promise you as soon as I finished it I'll come. Take care. I love you

Without waiting for a reply he switched off his phone. He didn't want Lui to interfere to this and put his life in danger. Shu smiled to himself as a thought flashed in his mind. "Lui would be mad about this"
