Rideout Academy

Shu got up and looked at the light pink clock on the wall. He let out a sigh as he realized that today is the day. He got out from his bed feeling the cold floor underneath him and instantly shivered at the thought of Lui. "Life is so cruel to me " he muttered to himself walking toward the bathroom.

He quickly got dressed and soon, he was inside the bus. He stared blankly out of the window as the scenery passed. However, unlike previous times, it didn't calm him down, instead, it made him panic more because he is closer to that hell with every passing second. He thought about every single tactic to avoid Lui. "It won't be easy," he thought again as stepped out from the bus at the stop. He looked at the huge buildings of his new school. Beigoma academy was not big like that. But still, that place felt familiar to him than these lifeless buildings. Beigoma was livelier than this, children buzzing with laughter and chattering everywhere but this school had this monotone effect that made Shu shiver.

He heard the sounds of students. Few of them took glances at him murmuring to each other. He took a deep breath and took a step. "I hope nothing would happen". He looked around trying to figure out the direction to the principal's office and after seeing the sign for it he followed it. Students started whispering around him. He didn't care. In fact, those whispers were now normal for him. He's used to that anyway. He walked along till he finds the principal's office and when he did reach the office he knocked on the door.

"Come in," a husky voice said from the inside. Shu opened the door and went inside. Unlike the light blue walls of the Beigoma academy, these were light grey and the inviting atmosphere Principal Shinoda had is nowhere to be seen in this one. He saw a man in his 40s sitting down on a chair going through some papers. He was nothing like principal Shinoda. The kind features that Principal Shinoda had was enough to make any student at ease and every one of the school loved him. This man looked quite different, from the sharp jawline to the furrowed brows he looked different. His black eyes and black hair with grey hairs sprouting from here and there made his posture more strict and neutral. His lips were pressed into a tight line as he finally looked up and told Shu to take a seat. "You must be Shu Kurenai"

Shu nodded. "Yes sir". He handed him the timetable and gave him some advice to continue his good work. Shu nodded and thanked the principal as he headed out. He looked at his timetable. The first period was Science and Shu did like science but at this nerve-wracking moment, he didn't know that whether he could handle it. Shu walked along the corridor. The hallways were empty, with not a single student on sight. Only the janitor went through the halls cleaning the floor. Shu stopped in front of the classroom door and took a deep breath praying to each and every god he knew.

"Please...." He pleaded. "Please don't tell me that Lui has science too"

"Class," The teacher said taking everyone's attention."We have a new student today"

Shu waited outside till he gets permission to go in, his hands clasped behind his back as he tried to keep himself from having a nervous breakdown. The teacher called him and he went into the classroom. Some students squealed and some gasped, everyone watched him with astonished faces. He faced the class as his scarlet hues went all over the class and stopped. Violet met Red. Shu stood there with shock sadness and a mixture of many emotions. Lui looked genuinely surprised about the arrival of Shu. But he quickly recovered from the shock and shot a glare at the red-eyed male. A silent warning, Shu realized. His life was going to be wrecked.

Shu bowed. "Nice to meet you all. I'm Shu Kurenai" He said introducing himself.

The teacher smiled and told him to work hard and showed him a place to sit right beside Lui. Shu cursed at his own luck. "What can make today any worse?" He thought to himself walking to his place. Soon they were engaged in a glaring contest. The violet-eyed male kept glaring at Shu. He knew sitting beside him would be like putting a hand into a Shark's mouth but he had no other choice. He sat down beside him glaring at Lui which he gladly returned.

"Class now stop talking and start your work". The teacher said breaking the tension of the room. Shu and Lui stopped glaring at each other and started listening. Shu wished the first class to hold forever. He didn't know how Lui would react after the class. And then the bell rang signalling the class was over. Their teacher went outside warning them that the homework should e finished by tomorrow. Shu closed his eyes waited for the bomb to explode. Three, two, one Shu counted and as soon as he finished someone slammed his hands on his desk. Shu slowly opened his eyes. Lui was growling, yes, he was growling right in front of his face, like he can eat Shu all over. Shu glared at the blue-haired male. His face held a blank expression but he had to work on a great deal to manage that face.

"Kurenai, what the hell are you doing here?" He snapped at him. Shu narrowed his eyes.

"I'm afraid I did not come here to answer your questions Shirasagi" he shot back. He felt all eyes on him and the whole class was silent. None of them uttered a single word. And the tension was thick enough to cut through it. The students were gathering around them and Shu could hear their curious whispers.

"Is that Shu Kurenai ?"

"What is he doing here?"

Shu didn't look away from Lui. He kept glaring at the furious male. "Losers like you don't belong here. Why did you leave that school and your pathetic friends? Finally got sick of them?"

Shu clenched his fists trying to calm down. But he couldn't, out of everything Lui had to pick up that one topic he was sensitive of. Shu did not want to snap but he did. "Shut up Shirasagi. My friends are not pathetic and I didn't want to come to this place my parents wanted me or else I wouldn't come to a school that an idiot like you are in"

Some students gasp, some covered their mouths in total horror-stricken faces and Shu understood crap Lui seemed to be the high hand of the school. Shu was sure that no one had talked to Lui like this before. Lui grabbed Shu by his collars and look straightly into his eyes. "You came to the wrong place. I'll make sure that this place will be hell for you" he said releasing Shu pushing him toward his chair.

He looked at the students in the class, he didn't speak a word but the message was clear to them. Don't meddle with Shu, or speak to him, that's what he wanted. His cold gaze travelled through the class.

Shu didn't tell a word. His scar started to hurt glowing in bright red. Lui looked at him and smirked with a smug expression taking place on his features. "Seems like you still got my little present on you" Shu growled in utmost hatred and he was ready to punch Lui right there but he didn't want to get detention on his first day. He kept quiet trying to calm down and trying to keep his cool even though his own thoughts were storming inside his mind. Lui took one last glance at him and stormed away knocking a chair in the process.

Slowly, the other students started to go out. Shu collapsed to his chair trying to steady his breath. He didn't come to a good start as expected. He got up packing his things and headed out from the class. No one talked to him and he expected that to happen too. Everyone ignored him like he was invisible. Shu ignored all of this and headed toward his locker and opened it putting his books inside.

He sighed. "Today is gonna be a long day". He heard whispering. All of them were whispering about Shu behind him. Shu tried to ignore their voices but he couldn't. It was bothering him. Didn't they have anything else to do rather than mock him from behind? He thought. After few seconds the hall went silent again.

"Is it Lui, again?" Shu thought turning around. He followed the other's gaze toward the hall. It wasn't Lui. It was another boy. He obviously looked like the ideal school bully with messy blonde hair almost covered by a black cap with the word 'doom' printed in white letters. Blue eyes shone with violence and pride. Some of the girls squealed when he go past them. He gave them a wink as an attempt of flirting. Shu cringed. Some of the boys backed away in fear. From their expression, Shu confirmed that he was the school bully. Lui and this boy seem to have the priority of the school. Shu shrugged to himself as he turned to his locker again.

The boy walked past Shu and stopped. He turned around and walked toward Shu. Shu didn't even realize that the blonde was walking toward him. The boy smirked as he closed his locker door while Shu's fingers were still inside. A bone-crushing pain shot through his pale fingers. Shu winced but he managed to prevent screaming, he was really thankful for his good endurance. He looked at the boy giving him a cold glare. "What do you want?" He asked with a cold voice.

He smirked and looked at his friends. "Guys look," he said pushing the locker door pressuring the door. Shu felt like his fingers were breaking to pieces and probably was. "Look at this cute little albino here. He is new but didn't even come to greet us"

Shu just stared at them with a blank expression. "What do you want?" Shu repeated.

The boy narrowed his eyes. "You're full of yourself, aren't you?" He asked putting more pressure on the locker door. "Well... well Shu Kurenai, the Beyblade prodigy. One of the best bladers in Japan. And the runner up from the team tournament. Remember the runner up not the first place"

"Okay, thank you for the reminder that I'm one of the best bladers in the country. Do you need anything else?" Shu said in a mocking tone as he tried to free his hand.

"But still Lui is better than you. And remember you got Lui on your bad side. If you are an enemy of him, mine too." He hissed.

"Okay, thanks for the information. Do I have to waste any more of my time?" Shu asked with a cold voice.

"Kazuki" one of his friends called him. "I think we should give him a treat" Kazuki waved his hands. "Not now guys, I have an important thing to do," he said leaving Shu behind.

Shu hissed in pain as he took his hand out checking out the red patch on each finger. "Great..." He said. "Now I have two enemies to deal with. My best first day so far". He walked to the boy's washroom and washed his wound. His fingers were swollen and now was turning into a slight purple colour. "Ouch," He hissed in pain when the water touched his fingers. He looked at his own reflection and splashed water to his face.

"Shu, is that you?" A voice called behind Shu looked back. Shu looked at the mirror to see Gou standing behind him.

"The only white-haired, red-eyed guy you know should be me I guess," Shu said with a small smile.

"Hey, man long time since I talked to you," Gou said smiling. They had been friends since the first nationals Shu attended. And they had kept contact but lost it for a while now.

Shu felt relieved. At least Gou would talk to him and he wouldn't be totally lonely. "Yeah. Well, we didn't have time. Both of us were busy with all the training"

Gou nodded. "I heard you had a rough first day"

Shu smiled. "As expected "

He looked at Shu's hand and noticed the wound. "How did that happen?"

Shu's face changed. "Uhm..clumsy me?" he muttered.

Gou placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know you're far from clumsy dude... are you okay?"

Shu paused for few minutes. Gou noticed the sudden change of his expression of the other. "Yeah alright"

Gou nodded grimly. "I have to go. If you want something make sure to tell me" Shu agreed Gou wished him good luck as he left the washroom.

Shu sighed. "I hate my life" he muttered to himself looking at his own reflection on the mirror. Shu walked to the cafeteria when the lunch break came. He didn't ask anyone to join because he knew it would be a futile operation. He found an empty table and sat down as he started to eat. He wished he was still at Beigoma for like the hundredth time for the day.

The albino male walked to the cafeteria of the Beigoma academy. "Shu!!!" A short brunette called him waving his hands hysterically. Shu laughed as he went to the gang and sat down.

"Valt" Wakiya growled. "Don't be such a dork" then everyone would start to argue with each other. Shu rolled his eyes playfully at them.

"Guys let's eat"

They all agreed as they started to eat. They exchanged various stories. The lunch breaks were the best all time.

Shu's thoughts were broken by a tiny voice. He looked at a young boy obviously around Toko's age looking at him. They shared the same scarlet eyes and his blonde hair was neatly combed. "Excuse me," he said.

Shu's expression soften. "Yeah?" He asked.

"Can I join you?" He asked with a scared expression on his face.

Shu chuckled. "Of course. Sit down, I won't eat you"

The small boy smiled as he sat down facing Shu. "I'm Fubuki," he said with a small smile.

"I'm .." Shu started but was cut off by the boy's voice.

"I know you. You are Shu Kurenai. The genius blader"

Shu let out a soft chuckle. "Yeah I'm Shu but I'm not sure about that genius part "

"No, you are. I've seen when you're battling. They're amazing. Can you teach me?" Fubuki asked. His eyes shining and pleading.

"I'd love to," Shu said reaching his hand to ruffle his hair.

They started to eat while they exchanged their stories. Shu smiled at the boy. He kept talking like Valt. Shu was happy when he knew the boy was from Beigoma too. His parents also wanted him to attend a good school. They talked until they heard a voice growling nearby. Shu glared at the owner of the voice. It was Lui. But Lui's eyes were on the young boy. His eyes filled with malice.

The boy was scared out of his soul, and his eyes were filled with tears threatening to fall down at any moment. "Lui, stop"Shu snapped at him.

But Lui didn't pay attention. He stared at Fubuki, his threatening glare overpowering Shu's voice. Shu stayed on his guard, unable to make out anything. Lui was unpredictable and the tension inside the cafeteria hung them around like a mist. It was Gou who finally broke the silence.

"Lui come on we gotta practice"

Lui glared at the albino male. "This is not over " he hissed leaving a dazed Shu behind. He sat down near the younger boy and patted his head. "I'm sorry," Shu said.

Fubuki shook his head. "No, it's not your fault. It's that meanie's fault." Shu gave his hand helping Fubuki to get up.

"Come on I'll walk to your class with you" Fubuki nodded as they walked toward his class.
