#03 | it was nothing

* this chapter is my brain lagging out. we moving slow *

---

"You're fucking stupid." The boy said as he plopped on her couch with a sigh. He threw his head back exasperatedly, glancing over at the girl who walked around her kitchen to retrieve her scattered belongings before she headed off for school.

The cold morning chill nipped at his skin, inducing a small shiver from the black haired boy. As cold as he was feeling, it didn't show on his face that held a blank expression. She particularly hated that expression today because his eyes were surely to be full of contempt. Well, that what she assumed because she couldn't see his eyes from where she stood anyway.

"Thank you for that," She called back sarcastically.

"No because you're literally stupid."

[y/n] pinched the bridge of her nose, exhaling deeply to prevent strangling this kid. "I get it, alright? I don't need you to tell me that I'm fucking stupid every two seconds because I know already. Just drop it already." Her tone was low for the first time in a while.

He went silent, pursing his lips. The only sounds in the room was the strange rummaging of her snacks being shoved into her bag before she finally zipped it shut and headed for the front door. When she opened the door, he stood up from the couch and followed behind her, putting on his shoes and stepping outside. The atmosphere was even colder now that they were outside of the house.

"Your mom said that there is a club meeting today after school, so don't forget to attend it then come straight home afterwards." [y/n] said as she urged the younger boy in the direction of his school. He was so lucky that his junior high was closer to their houses than her high school was.

"Yeah, yeah." He rolled his eyes, shoving his hands in his pockets as he entered the front gates of his school.

"If I find out you skipped the meeting, I'm going to beat you into the floor."

The boy rolled his eyes a little less strongly this time, waving at her half-heartedly before turning away and walking towards the building that was filling with students his age. When he peeked over his shoulder to check if she was still there, he felt his lips curl downwards when the blond boy he disliked the most had approached her from behind. "Tch."

"Don't sneak up on me like that, you idiot." [y/n] snapped playfully as she pushed him away. An easy smile rested on her lips as she ran a hand through her hair, peering up at Shidou who looked at her with expectant eyes. "What?"

"Huh?" He raised an eyebrow at her tone.

"Oh, speaking of which, I finished that manga you lent me last week. The ending was a little shit, but I liked it." The girl snickered, unzipping her bag to pull out the manga that was supposed to be wedged between her lunch and her snack. Unfortunately, there was no sight of the manga anywhere. "Shit, I think I forgot it at home while I was rushing around. Do you wanna come over after school and get it?"

"Sure," he muttered, narrowing his eyes at her as if she was under scrutiny. Technically, she was but that was besides the point. "Did you confess to me yesterday or am I tripping?"

The girl pursed her lips, raising a single eyebrow at his inquiry. "Uh, yeah? What about it?"

Shidou pursed his lips that subconsciously curled upwards into a small grin.

"Pretend it never happened. To be honest, I'd be better off not dating you." The girl said with a small sigh, rather disgusted with the idea of being awkward with him over something small after knowing each other for so long. Being rejected was bad enough but losing Shidou as a friend was probably even worse.

Shidou felt relieved. The amount of relief that washed over him when he heard that made his grin grow and his body move before he could even think about it.

Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, he yanked her body into his chest like he always did before. The way her soft body pressed against him made his grip loosen for a mere moment before he chuckled. "The fuck does that mean? I'd be an amazing boyfriend, for your information. You're the weird one."

"Pfft, yeah, sure. I think a lamp would do a better job as boyfriend than you, but okay," she said and rolled her eyes. She shoved his arm off her shoulder, making a faux vomiting noise. "You fucking reek of cologne."

"I don't fucking reek, you little roach." He snapped back, aggressively shoving his body in her direction so she can get a real whiff of how good he smelled. Not that she wanted any part of that.

"Ironic coming from the real roach." A new voice interjected as they entered the school gates. Both of them glanced in the direction of the voice, finding the one and only Rin Itoshi walking past them with a blank look on his face.

"Morning, Rin-kun." The girl greeted with a half-smile, earning a mere glance in return from the younger boy who had no regard for respect towards his upperclassmen. [y/n] didn't really care anyway.

"That damn eyelash freak." A vein nearly burst in Shidou's forehead as he approached Rin from behind, ready to finally beat the shit out of this underclassman that was a nuisance since the beginning. Unfortunately, he was stopped by [y/n] along the way.

"Chill. It's not the best time to get suspended, okay?" She reminded. This was the most crucial time of the year, and things would surely go terribly bad if he was to be suspended right here and now. "Don't you want to play soccer this year?"

Shidou clenched his jaw as he smiled wickedly. "[f/n], you're the only reason why I won't crack Rin-chan's skull right now."

"Just try it." Rin called out as he disappeared within the school, not caring for the mess of a person he had left behind for [y/n] to handle.

One thing led to another and soon Shidou was terrorizing another student that had nothing to do with it.

"Put Igaguri down!" She shouted as she grabbed Shidou's arm, trying to help the poor Buddha Shidou was about to take his anger out on. "Are you even listening to me? The teacher's are coming."

Shidou clicked his tongue, roughly dropping Igaguri and shaking [y/n] off. He laughed emptily, desperately wishing he could crush either Igaguri or Rin's skull at the moment.

Running a hand through his hair, Shidou whipped out his phone and furiously typed out a text before shoving his phone in his pocket. "I'm going to the gym closet. Get lost."

Asshole. She rolled her eyes at his words before waving in a mocking manner. "Bye, Ryusei. Have fun, I guess."

"Yea, see you."

And with that, they went their separate ways.
