Her eyes danced across the endless aisles of food, chocolate orbs practically vibrating in excitement. She didn't know what to choose first, what she wanted most, or if she could take it all but this small moment in her endless time brought her the upmost joy. It was the little things she's come to value now in her immortal life. Her solitude was one of the most valuable things to her, for instance now standing in the aisle of food already knowing her choice but acting as human as possible and taking her time.

Instead of just grabbing the bag she stood, balanced on the balls of her feet and listened to the outside world. Her ears took in the sounds of a mother three aisles down humming to her newborn who slept soundlessly, the worker across the store cursing himself for forgetting to bring his lunch, or the patter of feet that crept closer to where she stood, she valued the noise now more then ever. It made her feel more human, attached to the earth.

"Vi? It's Vi right?" A soft feminine voice spoke her way, her dark brown hair whipping around her oval face as she turned slowly to the girl.

A smile danced across her lips when she caught site of a girl with small glasses, high pony tail, large hoodie, and black leggings. Her perfect memory instantly placing her back at the reception of Bella and Edwards wedding, "Angela right? I snuck you a vodka soda when your dad was turned around?"

Said girl smiled, pushing her glasses up her small nose and a deep blush crossed her cheeks at Violets bold statement. She giggled softly, nodding her head as the pony tail jumped with her. "Yeah, that's me. Thanks for that by the way."

Violet shrugged casually, stepping closer to the girl as she noted the meat and vegetables in the girls basket. "So, how have you been? It's been what? Two weeks since the wedding?"

Angela smiled, not at all in wavered by the girls close proximity. She wasn't like the rest of the Cullens, Angela noted, Violet was much more approachable. Sure, she possessed the strikingly beautiful features and carried herself like royalty but there was something in her smile, it was soft... much more of a person. The other Cullen's smiled and you would be struck by the sheer beauty, almost shuddered away from it but with this girl... with Violet it was different. Angela could just feel the initial waves of nerves shake off her and she stepped closer towards Violet instead of shying away.

She found comfort in the fact the girl seemed genuinely intrigued in her life. "I'm good, I'm leaving for college in a couple of weeks with my boyfriend Eric so we are getting ready, finishing any last minute details. It's a pain in the ass but I guess that's life. What about you all?"

Violet smirked, wondering how easy life sounded for the human girl yet in her world it must have been the most stressful thing to ever grace her life. Oh how Violet envied her, her eyes briefly drifting down to the warm boots hugging her feet, hiding the small smile that graced her lips. Angela was nice and innocent, pure, someone not tainted by the hardships that came with being more than man. Her eyes looked back up, reacting before there was an awkward silence. "That's so good to hear, I hope college is worth all the stress though. And we've all been fine, Bella and Edward will be home in a week or so and we will figure out our lives from there."

"Well you're going back to Dartmouth right? Isn't that where Emmett is studying?" The human girl questioned, her hands quickly placing a bag of pretzels into her cart.

The hybrid didn't miss a beat, lying. "Yeah, soon. The fall semester is starting up, so I guess we will be going..."

At least that was the lie Violet had been told weeks back when Bella had actually graduated, back then things seemed much more difficult. She had only still been half a wolf then and the decision to stay or go with her imprint had always been at the back of her mind. Now, just because the decision was easier didn't make it that much swifter of an action. If she left, and she was almost certain that would occur, the hybrid would leave behind her whole pack and her blood. It was a necessary action, and now that Sam had made her decision that much simpler with her fathers presence it didn't sound bad.

Angela turned on her heel, facing the girl, "not to be nosy but I'm sensing you're not all that excited."

Violet pursed her lips, nodding her head and breathing out slowly. "You're right? It's not, it's actually so much more complicated."

Angela paused, sensing that this conversation was unwanted and she wasn't one to pry so instead her eyes slimmed down the girls bare left hand. "Heard you got engaged at Bella's wedding..."

Violet smiled, grateful the human was compassionate enough to let the past conversation die away, although a rather big part of her wanted to talk out her problems. She instead looked down to her empty ring finger, "yeah. We actually did... kind of... sort of... we were actually planning on marrying right after Bella left. Gonna ask your dad and all."

Angela nodded her head softly, fumbling with her car keys and letting the sound break the potential, awkward silence. Her lips pulled into her mouth for a quick second as she thought over her next words. "I know this is going to sound strange coming from someone who has her own commitment issues but if you're this worried about marriage and there already is problems before you've even got to this aisle why don't you put it of, I'm not saying you don't get married but just wait? If Emmett loves you as much as you say he does then he will understand and besides no one is forcing you to walk down the aisle now. Get all those things out of the way before you even think of setting a date. Marriage is a big step, and if there's already things in the way then just hold off. Just a thought though... "

Violet thought over her words, letting them sink in. The human girl was right. Did she really want to start off a marriage like this? Of course not. There was more shit in her life now more than ever and just adding marriage to that list would not help. She loved Emmett Cullen and didn't need a title for it.

"I know that look on your face," Emmett spoke up when he found a tense looking Violet by her favorite river. Her teeth were chewing on her thumbnail, eyes distraught as she watched him walk forward. The burly man had caught her scent less then two minutes ago, having grown concerned of her abnormal time in the town he had thought his mate had wandered off somewhere and he was almost sure she would be here.

Sure enough his favorite girl in the world had been sitting by the edge of the river, feet dipped into the cooled water, her head barely rising as he came over.

Emmett was quick to take a spot next to her, his hand naturally wrapping itself around her small palm as he got comfortable. "I know you're sad over Sam and your father..."

Emmett's words of encouragement were stopped short when his mate turned briskly in his direction, eyes mysteriously having gone blank. He was utterly confused until she spoke, "how much do you love me?"

Emmett was utterly confused, having not seen the conversation go in this direction. He cleared his throat nonetheless and spoke, coming up with the only plausible explanation. "I don't think there's enough time in our immortal life to explain it to you Violet. Love isn't even the adequate word to phrase it. If I just told you I loved you this much that still wouldn't give you a wide enough spectrum. I love you more then I want to live, I love you more then the sun could ever love the moon. I love you more then the tides love to kiss the sand all day. I love you more then you love those Lay's chips you're always munching, I love you doesn't even begin to describe us baby. Which is why I will love you even after you tell me you don't want to marry me now."

Her breath caught in her throat, for a brief second questioning how he had ever known that was where her thoughts were when she remembered this was Emmett, that boy would figure out her plan before she had even come up with it. She decided instead of speaking she would instead press her scorching lips to his chilled ones, savoring his full lips between her own. "I love you so much Emmett, god I couldn't even begin to show you how much but I can't marry you this way. Not without Sam there, not without the wolves there, not with my heart so broken. All I want is to start my life with you happily, not war torn but someday this will come to an end and I will be Violet Cullen."

"McCarty," He corrected her, a soft smile gracing his perfect features while one of his hands pulled away the fine hairs of her face, tucking them behind her ear and keeping his pressed against her neck. "If you will be my fiancé one day I want you to have my real name first, Violet McCarty."

"It sounds like a beautiful dream." She whispered, reflecting his smile as her cheeks turned a rose color.

"One day that dream will become our reality, I promise you that. I don't care how long I have to wait or how many wars we go through you will be my wife one day, let it take months or a centuries it will be true so long as we love each other." He promised her, he quickly got to his feet, bringing her with him. He hadn't planned on proposing like this, not without her brothers permission and certainly without his family present but he didn't care. Sam had accepted him long ago and despite the circumstances he had a feeling Sam guessed this would happen. The Alpha would have no protest to this, he was sure. His family had known about his intentions long before, so he figured now was a better time then ever.

He quickly got down on one knee, Violets eyes suddenly growing watery and a laugh escaping her lips when she whispered, "oh fuck me, this is actually happening."

Emmett rolled his eyes at his soon to be fiances choice of words, biting back a laugh he remembered the speech he'd been preparing. His palm opening up to showcase a diamond ring placed in a velvet box. "Violet Odessa Uley, despite all the shit we go through and the fact you're sometimes much more manlier then I'll ever be I love you. I don't think there's ever been love like ours before which is why I think love isn't an adequate enough explanation for us. Sometimes I look at you and can't ever imagine you just being a girl, you're more then any of us will ever be, incomparable to humans, the supernatural, and even gods don't do you justice. You're more then I'll ever be able to explain and I would have put the stars in the sky myself if you felt the night too dark. I don't think there's anything I wouldn't do for you and I'll only ever as you for one thing. Violet Uley, will you marry me? Someday?"

Violet was a blubbering mess by the time his speech was over, her eyes solely concentrated on the way his pupils expanded the more he spoke and the honey in his golden eyes sparkling brightly. God, she had never felt love like theirs before and she would be jealous if anyone ever did. Love was definitely not enough of a word to describe what they felt one another but it didn't matter because she knew that, together, they could spend eternity figuring it out.

"Yes polar bear, " She breathed out through her tears and didn't waste a second to jump into his arms, her legs swinging in the air as she tightened her arms around him. Her lips meeting his own, and the world falling away from them for a small glimpse of their happiness.
