➳ 53: they all asked for you
REBEKAH was still in her witch vessel and was wandering around a street bazaar as she spoke to her family via a three-way phone call. Klaus was standing on the balcony overlooking the courtyard, watching as four werewolves spared with each other, Ingrid was sitting in an arm chair a few feet away with a sleeping Hope in her arms, and Elijah was at his new loft, looking through his closet for a suit to wear for the day. "Enough already with the family squabbling! Come on, Nik! Even you can see that the situation has become awkward!"
"There's nothing awkward about it!" Klaus argued causing Ingrid to scoff loudly in disapproval. "Hayley and Jackson belong in the compound where they are safe. As much as I would like Elijah's help to kill Finn, if his delicate sensibilities are offended by the presence of Hayley's new husband, then he's welcome to continue sulking across the river."
"Niklaus!" Ingrid began to scold him in a stern tone.
Elijh cut her off before she could continue, his voice sounding annoyed. "As I have explained to you repeatedly, brother, my presence here in Algiers is purely to assemble allies. And given all the enemies we have afoot in the form of wayward siblings and ancient, maniacal aunt Dahlias, I would think that you would applaud my efforts."
"Well, if it's my applause you seek, you shouldn't have dashed off in a bloody huff!" Klaus remarked in a mocking tone earning himself a glare from Ingrid.
Elijah growled lowly in frustration as Rebekah tried to get them back on track. "Alright, can you two at least try and stay focused on what's best for Hope's safety?"
"I would like nothing more!" Elijah replied in a passive-aggressive tone of voice.
"I am doing exactly that!" Klaus stated in a defensive manner, throwing his hands up in exasperation.
"See? You're on the same team." Rebekah remarked patronizingly then paused for a brief moment. "Conflict resolved, crisis averted." She said quickly before hanging up the phone.
Klaus looked at his phone and rolled his eyes then turned toward Ingrid, who had a disappointed look on her face. "What?" He questioned in confusion then sighed and shook his head. "Not right now, love."
"Oh, so when?" She snarkily questioned with a matching expression before sighing loudly and shaking her head. "I suppose you are right. Besides... you'll do as you please regardless of what I say."
"Coming from the queen of do what she pleases." He said with a scoff then turned to face her with an annoyed look and pursed his lips. "Let's not do this right now."
"I guess I shall just schedule you in for later then, yes? Or how about Saturday? Is that more to your liking?" She remarked with a pointed look and stood up from her seat, holding Hope's sleeping figure close to her body. "You are, once again, pushing your family away with your arrogance, Niklaus."
When he wouldn't look at her, she rolled her eyes and glanced at him with a stern look. "Your brother moved across town because you are rubbing his broken heart in his face by parading Hayley and Jackson all over." She commented with a face of disappointment and woe. "I understand the need to protect our daughter. Believe me, I do... but we do not destroy our family to do so." She lectured softly before turning around and leaving the room. "Fix your mess."
Later on, Klaus and Ingrid arrived to the cemetery, which was dark and foggy. They began walking through the aisles of tombs, searching for something particular. Ingrid turned toward her husband and raised an eyebrow. "How can we be completely sure this isn't a trap?"
"We aren't." He answered honestly in a grim tone just as his phone buzzed in his pocket. When he pulled it out, he noticed that it was Elijah and ignored the call before pocketing it again.
Ingrid was about to make a snide remark when her phone started to buzz. Furrowing her eyebrows and pursing her lips, she pulled it out from her pocket to see Elijah. Smirking with a light chuckle, she showed it to Klaus, who rolled his eyes and took it from her, rejecting the call.
She gave him an unimpressed expression but he walked away from her while shouting into the night. "FINN!" He continued walking through the cemetery to look for his brother while Ingrid trudged behind. "I know you're here! The wolves tell me you've been quite active robbing graves and violating corpses! Sounds like you." Klaus turned around to see if Finn was lurking out of sight and scowled when he was left empty handed. "Why don't you just come out so we can finish this?"
"Yes, please." Ingrid added in an exhausted tone of voice. "I am rather bored of this constant cat and mouse game. I would rather watch paint dry."
Finn smirked to himself and tapped his fingers together as he stood at the end of the aisle behind them. "Hello, Niklaus. Hello, Ingrid." He greeted them and started to walk toward them as they did the same.
"Such a pedestrian greeting. How unfortunate those are to be your last words." Klaus snarled patronizingly with a smirk to match.
Finn gaped at him incredulously and shook his head. "Your hubris truly knows no bounds! You attack a witch in the very place the Ancestors call home!" He wagged his finger at Klaus and clicked his tongue in a scolding manner.
Ingrid groaned loudly and rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Ugh. The dramatics in this family are almost suffocatingly unbearable. May we please reach a point? How about we fast forward to the part where we kill you? Yes? I like that one."
"You're a fool if you think the Ancestors give a damn about you." Klaus taunted his eldest brother, pointing a finger at him with a bitter laugh, causing Ingrid to tilt her head to the side and nod in agreement with a shrug.
Finn held up his hands with a smirk. "They may not care for me, brother, but they hate you two."
"Just add that to the never ending list of people who hate the Mikaelsons." Ingrid replied with an amused look.
"Not the Mikaelsons. You. They hate you. You two have never done anything for this family except tarnish our name in every aspect." Finn angrily vented at them as the couple spared bored glances. "How do you continue to blow off everything when it comes to the danger that is upon you?" Finn questioned her in disbelief.
Shrugging her shoulders and throwing her hands up in the air. "I don't know, Finn. Could it be because I doubt the significance of these dangers?"
Finn chuckled at her arrogance and used pyrokinesis to shoot a humongous stream of flames toward them. When the flames and smoke cleared, he realized that the hybrids had already vanished, having sped on the roofs of the crypts above him before they could be harmed.
"Can't say I predicted that one specifically but I knew you would try to do something sneaky." Ingrid stated with a grin and waved a finger at him. "Nice try. I'll give it a... three out of ten."
"You lost a step, brother. But, then being blown to pieces will do that, I suppose." Klaus commented with a smirk as Ingrid chuckled loudly earning a glare from Finn.
Klaus then lunged toward him and Finn used telekinesis to throw a piece of wrought-iron fence toward Klaus. The pikes of the fence embed themselves in Klaus' chest but aside from some discomfort and a small amount of blood coming from Klaus' mouth, it did little to anything to hurt him. All Finn could do was use his power to keep the fence pinned in place so Klaus had to struggle to remove it. Ingrid sped toward him but he used his other hand to telekinetically keep her in place.
Finn glanced between them with a smirk then pouted sarcastically. "Finished so soon, the indestructible hybrids?" He mocked them with a laugh before curling his lip up into a snarl and using Klaus' insecurities against him. "Father was right about you! You're nothing but a pathetic disappointment!"
Klaus gritted his teeth and sneered at him angrily. "You judge me? You who cursed Kol to death?" He threw in Finn's face as Finn looked slightly bothered by this reminder. "But, you didn't stop there, did you? No, there's an encore-- you sought the death of an innocent child." Klaus bellowed furiously and finally managed to overcome Finn's telekinesis, despite his best efforts, and pulled the fence out of his chest. He then broke off one of the pikes to use as a weapon.
"My child." Ingrid added darkly while effortlessly taking the pike from Klaus and launching it at Finn. The metal piece lodged into the witch's abdomen and Finn groaned in pain.
Klaus sped over to him and twisted the pike in his stomach, pinning him against the wall of one of the tombs. "For what you would have done to Hope, I'm going to enjoy making you suffer." He threatened then pushed the pike up so that it caused even more internal damage while choking Finn so hard he could barely even moan from pain.
Klaus harshly yanked out the pike from Finn's abdomen and Finn fell weakly to the ground at his feet. He held up the pike and was about to stab him with it again when Elijah finally arrived and pulled Klaus off of him, shoving him into the tomb behind him. He gaped at his younger brother while speaking in an out of breath manner. "You didn't answer my call."
Klaus flattened his lips and motioned to Finn with his eyes. "Well, I was a little bit busy."
"We still are." Ingrid remarked in a dull tone and Elijah turned to see her standing over Finn, who was bleeding out on the ground next to her.
"I need him alive." Elijah informed them desperately.
"I've no time for your soft-hearted sympathies." Klaus replied in a venomous tone then tugged his arm out of Elijah's grasp, but Elijah planted himself between Klaus and Finn so he couldn't go after him. "Stand aside." Klaus ordered sternly with narrowed eyes.
Elijah refused to move and Klaus gaped at him in disbelief. When Ingrid attempted to take a step toward Finn, Elijah placed himself between the hybrids and Finn.
The three of them began bickering while Finn lied below them, bleeding on the ground, coughing, and sputtering up more blood as time went.
Ingrid raised an eyebrow at him and smirked in amusement. "So, what? You're going to take on us both to save this pathetic traitor?" She questioned Elijah with a challenging laugh.
"If I have to." Elijah answered in determination.
Klaus rolled his eyes in aggravation and threw his hands up. "Let him die, Elijah!"
"I strongly concur." Ingrid added with a pointed expression.
Elijah looked between them with a look of refusal and shook his head.. "The witches want that body returned unharmed."
"And what else do they want? A parade? Free broomsticks for all?" Klaus sarcastically questioned in anger.
"This alliance could be greatly beneficial to us all--" Elijah began to reason but was cut off abruptly.
"Yes, well currying some witch's favor does not concern me!" Klaus snapped in annoyance.
Suddenly, a woman appeared next to them and spoke suddenly. "It should." She stopped when she joined them, and smiled. "Witch allies can prove valuable." She then walked over to where Finn was laying as the three Originals gaped at her in confusion.
"Freya. Freya. Help me." Finn weakly called out to her.
Freya kneeled down next to him and whispered soothingly. "Don't worry, brother. I won't let them hurt you." She assured him then used her fingers to lift the blue pendant on her talisman toward him as she started to cast a spell. "Yovara vimuna virael."
As she chanted, her pendant started to glow bright blue and Finn suddenly started to scream in agony as his body healed.
Once the spell was done, Vincent sat up in shock and stared up at the four Mikaelsons in horror. "Who are you?"
Klaus looked at Freya in confusion and curiosity as she held out two fingers and made a sweeping motion over Vincent's face. "Sleep." As she spoke, Vincent suddenly fell unconscious onto the ground.
"What the hell did you do to him?" Klaus questioned in shock and confusion..
Freya held up her pendant for him to see and spoke in a calm tone. "Finn is now safe from harm. And his hatred of you can no longer do to damage to our cause."
Elijah glanced at her suspiciously and raised his eyebrows. "Our cause?"
"Yes. Ours. And now, if you three can stop arguing long enough, perhaps you'll allow your older sister to offer you a deal." Freya explained while standing to her feet.
Ingrid scoffed harshly and Klaus took a step toward his sister with narrowed eyes. "What could you possibly offer us besides fairy tales and lies?"
"Whatever you think of me, brother, know this-- when I speak to you, it is the truth. If you have any doubts, remember that it was I who rescued Rebekah from the Fauline Cottage." Freya reminded him sternly.
"And was it not also you who led Finn on his vile mission to take Hope's life?" Elijah questioned angrily causing Ingrid to laugh humorlessly.
"The threat to Hope came from Finn. Not me." Freya replied then looked down at the ground, clearly upset by the thought. "The brother I knew would never have stooped to threaten a child. Our mother destroyed him. Like she did me." She whispered in a hurt tone then turned to the hybrids. "Both of you. Everything she touched."
"I'm sorry?" Ingrid replied in offense with a harsh look on her face. "Who are you to speak on us?"
"Do not talk speak as though we are familiars! We know nothing of you." Klaus sneered at the witch, appalled.
Freya held up each of her hands so that they were facing their faces and they received a vision memory of Freya being taken by Dahlia. Having ended the vision, she stared at her family with a hopeful look. "Do you still think me a liar?"
"Yes. Telling the truth of one thing doesn't negate everything else." Ingrid replied with a blank facial expression.
Klaus nodded in agreement and pointed over at his wife. "That proves nothing but your ability to conjure illusions."
"Before you dismiss me, you should know this-- if I've woken from my slumber, Dahlia has as well. Once she's sensed your child's magic, she will come for her." Freya warned them and shook her head with fear in her eyes. "And she has the power to kill anyone who stands in her way... unless we kill her first."
"Now that... that I can agree with." Ingrid commented with a sinister smirk and wagged a finger at her sister-in-law.
"That's quite convenient, isn't it? You show up in the nick of time to help us kill the woman with whom you've spent a thousand years!" Klaus snarled at Freya in his usual paranoid manner.
Freya began to look frustrated and angry at her family. "You have no idea what it took to escape her! Or what I lost in the trying. Her punishment will be profound."
Elijah frowned sympathetically and took a step toward her. "And you know how to stop her?"
"Given the proper materials, yes. I've sent Father to procure them." Freya explained with a nod.
Ingrid's face fell into an enraged one and she was about to speed toward the witch when Elijah grabbed onto her. "You have killed us all!"
Klaus also reacted in a furious manner and clenched his jaw in anger. "You put the life of my child in the hands of Mikael?" He yelled then angrily stormed off but when Elijah called his name, he stopped walking.
"Niklaus. This woman has knowledge of the threat we now face and is willing to share that information." Elijah tried to reason with his brother while struggling to hold Ingrid.
Klaus turned to face him with an unimpressed look on his face. "Well, you'll excuse me, Elijah, if I'm not inclined to trust the mysterious sister we only just met! But, by all means, if you wish to entertain this idiocy, have at it." He then sped away before Elijah could argue any further, leaving him and Ingrid in the cemetery with Freya and the unconscious Vincent.
"Thank you." Freya whispered and smiled at Elijah shyly. "Your kindness is much appreciated."
"I may be willing to accept your identity, Freya-- it doesn't mean I trust you." Elijah remarked in a stern tone, his face serious.
"Then I will look forward to earning that trust." She said softly then turned around and left the cemetery.
Ingrid pushed off Elijah and jabbed a finger at him, enraged. "You better know what you're doing or so help me, Elijah."
