15. Jealous Kookie

Lia had just finished getting ready for work the next day when she heard a knock at her door. She couldn't help the smile that sprung to her face at the thought of Jungkook being back. She had missed him as she usually did when he'd leave for a week. She danced around Yeontan, trying not to trip on him as she made her way to the door to unlock it. The black clad man stepped through the door, immediately taking off his face coverings after he shut the door before turning to give her a hug.

"How was work last week? Namjoon told me about it but I..."

Jungkook's words died out on his lips; his grip on the hug lessening as he looked at the puppy that danced around behind Lia, wanting her attention.

"He wasn't kidding..." said Jungkook as he pulled away from the hug.

Lia frowned a bit as she looked at Jungkook, watching as he looked from Yeontan to Taehyung's discarded shirt on the living room floor. He marched right over to it, pinching it between two fingers like it was some sort of specimen.

"What is this?"

"It's a shirt, doofus," said Lia as she walked over to grab it out of Jungkook's hand, putting it back on the floor for Yeontan. "And it's comforting to Yeontan. I know you're jumping to conclusions right now, so stop it."

Jungkook furrowed his brows as he looked at Lia. She saw a look pass over his face that darkened his demeanor.

"It's just...why did you get a dog with Taehyung? You've only known him a day, and how long have you known me?"

"Jungkook," said Lia slowly. She wasn't sure how to respond. She'd never seen this side of him before. "I was just trying to make him happy. Besides, you've never asked me to get a dog."

"Yes, but if I ask you for something, I'd doubt you'd give it to me."

"Pfft. You're ridiculous."

"Hey, Lia, lets go get a house together. I saw a really nice one a few blocks away," said Jungkook suddenly. His sudden statement shocked her into silence, causing Jungkook to gesture her way before saying, "See? My point exactly! You're not going to give it to me, are you?"

"You're being ridiculous," said Lia as she crossed her arms. "A house and a dog are two completely different things."

"Me being ridiculous? That's rich coming from someone that seems to be crushing on all the men that are suddenly in her life."

"Hey! Watch it!" snapped Lia, walking right up to Jungkook and poking a finger in his chest. "You're the one that started this whole thing anyway. You're the one that told me your secret. You changed the arrangement."

Jungkook was clenching and unclenching his fists as he stood in front of her. Rolling her eyes, she moved to snatch up her purse.

"I don't have time to fight with you right now. I have to go to work. If you're going to be a child, go back to your apartment."

"A child. Really?"

"Well, you are," said Lia as she moved towards her apartment door. "You're being completely irrational right now."

She moved to step out into the hall after double checking to make sure Yeontan's bowls were properly filled. She wasn't going to even bother asking Jungkook to watch him because that would surely just set him off more at the moment. Right before she left her apartment, she saw Jungkook grumbling as he put his mask and other stuff back on. Instead of following her out the door to work, he walked right back across the hall to his apartment, slamming the door shut behind him.

Rolling her eyes, Lia left the building and moved towards her work. She didn't have time to focus on this drama. What she needed to do right now was focus on her job. She tried to be as detailed as she could at work, soaking everything in and digging out Seokjin's rice bowl for lunch. He had been kind enough to make sure she had left the apartment last night with food. She was the envy of all her coworkers as she quietly ate her food in the corner.

When she left for work and headed home, she was surprised to see that Jungkook still was no where to be seen. She had a tiny thought in the back of her mind that maybe he would show up at the office during the day because he'd been upset he couldn't be with her at the start of her job last Friday. Sighing, she picked up some take out for supper and moved to head back to her apartment.

Yeontan was yipping at the door as she entered her apartment. She was about to kick the door shut behind her when she felt a bit of resistance. Turning she saw that a man dressed in black had stuck out his hand to prevent it from fully closing.

"Are you done sulking?" Lia asked as Jungkook came into the apartment behind her, shutting the door.

He looked at Lia without saying anything as he removed his mask and hat. The sunglasses joined the rest of the disguise on her kitchen counter as he continued to look at her. Lia chose to ignore him since he was ignoring her, moving to get her take out plated. She went towards a cupboard to grab a plate. Before she could though, she felt Jungkook's hand wrap about her wrist from behind. He used his grip to turn her around and face him; pushing her back against the countertop slightly.

"Jungkook, what are you..."

The question died out on Lia's lips as Jungkook leaned forward to crash his lips against hers. She was shocked for a moment by the suddenness and intensity of it all, but soon found her resolve melt away as she kissed him in the same manner back. His hands found their way to her hips as he held her close; her arms slipping about his neck as the kiss became even more heated for a moment or two. When Jungkook eventually pulled back, Lia opened her eyes in shock.

"What was that?..." she panted out, locking her eyes on Jungkook's as he stayed just a few feet away.

"I'm sorry for this morning. I'm just...I'm jealous. Insanely so. I know we've only known each other for a few months, and that we're just friends, but I...I have feelings for you. I just...I..."

Lia could tell that Jungkook was struggling for words, and she had to admit that she was too. Though she thought Jungkook was attractive, she kept telling herself that they were just best friends. She thought that was all they would ever be, but now it was apparent that he wanted more out of their relationship too.

"I'm sorry..." said Jungkook again as he pulled away from Lia. "I don't know what came over me. I just wish things were different."

"What would you do if things were different?"

"I'd be the person you'd get a dog with," said Jungkook.

"Well, for starters, Yeontan may be Taehyung's dog, but he's also everyone else's dog too."

Jungkook didn't say anything for a moment before mumbling the next bit. Lia had to lean forward to catch what he was saying.

"Did you just say you'd take me on a date?"

Jungkook nodded as he kept his eyes scanning her face.

"You can still do that," said Lia. "We can just set it for Thursday."

"You...wait...you'd want to go on a date with me?"

"Of course, silly," said Lia with a small smile, shaking her head. "Was that kiss we shared just now not evidence of that?"

"Well...I..."

"You don't need to be jealous of the others. Yes, I love them, but the relationship I have with them is different than the one I have with you. If we're going to go on a date though, I want my fun loving Jungkook back. The one that I can beat at kart racing."

"You can not beat me at kart racing."

She chuckled. There was the Jungkook she knew; his familiar smile chasing away his stormy look from earlier.

"I'm sorry for being a jerk earlier," said Jungkook.

"I know," said Lia, moving to hug him. She buried her face against his chest as he wrapped his arms about her in return. "Lets just enjoy the rest of the day we have together. Okay?"

"Okay," agreed Jungkook.

They spent the rest of the evening enjoying time together as normal. They shared the take out meal that Lia had brought home with her before playing a few rounds of various video games; Yeontan nestled between them during the whole thing. Lia was sad when it was time for Jungkook to leave for the evening, walking with him towards the door.

"So next Thursday it's a date?" she asked as he paused in putting the coverings back on his face.

"Yes," he said. "It's a date. I'll surprise you. I'll make it worth it."

"I haven't been on a date since high school," Lia admitted, "So any date will be fine with me. Especially when it's with you."

Jungkook grinned, moving to capture Lia's lips with his in one more sweet kiss before he left so they'd both have something to treasure until the next time they met.
