51. Lost And Found

The first stop they made was to pick up Jimin because he was the closest. Jin had parked the vehicle against the curb as close to the dance studio as he could. It was the Park family dance studio, and Jin knew from the past that this was where they would end up finding Jimin. Jin turned to look behind him as Lia - who currently stood outside the vehicle - had the door open as she stood there trying to console a crying Dowoo.

"I know. It's okay sweetie. Daddy will be back in a bit," said Lia, even though she knew the real reason for his cries was because he was refusing to take a nap. She thought all babies loved napping, but Dowoo seemed to have an aversion to it.

"I've got the kids Lia if you want to go in and see Jimin," said Jin.

"I can't just leave him crying. I'll feel bad," said Lia as she looked from Dowoo's crying face to Jin. "Besides, I wouldn't know what to say to Jimin. I feel like it would be just a lot of awkward silence."

Jin sighed as he took the keys out of the ignition and got out of the car. Unlike his brother, Junseo seemed to have no trouble sleeping at all. Jin opened the door to gently take the sleeping Junseo out, shifting the baby so he could shut the door. He then locked the vehicle up and came to stand by Lia who had managed to get Dowoo's crying to subside. Jin still couldn't help but to smirk at the touches of blue that were in Dowoo's hair. The blue had started to appear in his hair the day after his birth and looked like it didn't have any plans of stopping any time soon. Jin was sure that soon Dowoo's hair would be as blue as Taehyung's.

"Let's go do it together then," said Jin as Lia nodded her head.

The two of them walked towards the dance studio, slowing as they walked past the glass display window that showed the interior. Thankfully there wasn't a class going on at the moment. The studio seemed to be empty aside from Jimin. He was standing in front of the mirrors on the wall and doing some dance moves that looked more like art than anything else. It took Lia's breath away. Jin was the one that broke her trance as he moved to shove the door to the dance studio open; Lia following in after him.

Jimin noticed their appearance in the mirrors, pausing in his dancing. He went over to shut off the music that was flooding the air before turning to look at them fully. It was obvious that he didn't recognize her right off because of the confusion in his eyes. Jimin turned from her to Jin, seeming to study him for a bit more.

"Hey...you were one of those guys at that freaky old guy's place, weren't you?" asked Jimin as Jin nodded his head. "Yeah...I thought I recognized you. What brings you here? Is this your wife?"

Lia felt her cheeks flush as she looked down at Dowoo as she said softly, "No, Jimin. I'm not his wife. My name is Lia. Do you remember me?"

Hearing silence following her question, she lifted her head to see that the confused look was back in Jimin's eyes.

"You used to live in an apartment across the hall from me," continued Lia. "We spent every Saturday together."

"Why only Saturday?" asked Jimin.

"Because that was the only day you were ever around," said Lia, "Because the other days of the week you were someone else."

- - -

Taehyung stood on the steps of Doc's place with Mr. Kim behind him like a shadow. He had knocked once at the door with no answer, so had proceeded to do it a time or two more with unfortunately the same result.

"Maybe he's not at home right now," said Mr. Kim as Taehyung shook his head.

"No, I'm sure he's home. He doesn't seem to ever leave it."

Undeterred by the lack of response, Taehyung formed his hand into a fist and banged on the door even louder than before. As he drew his hand back, he finally heard footsteps on the other side followed by Doc opening it, looking out at the two of them on the steps.

"What is the emergency? You're acting like..."

Doc's speech paused when he saw Taehyung standing there with an expensively dressed Mr. Kim.

"Oh, I recognize you," said Doc as he looked at Taehyung. "You're the one that jumped out of my car when I was trying to drive you back home..."

"Yes," said Taehyung, not feeling as if Doc was owed an apology even though it sounded like he was expecting one.

"What brings you here?" asked Doc.

"I want to know what happened to Jungkook," said Taehyung.

When Doc remained silent - and almost seemed like he was about to shut the door - Taehyung stepped forward to put his foot there. He stuck out a hand too to strong arm the door to stay open.

"Where is he?" asked Taehyung as Doc looked into his angry eyes.

"He's..."

"He's not dead, is he?" asked Taehyung.

"Not yet, but he will be any day now."

"Take me to him right now," said Taehyung with a slight growl to his voice.

"If you don't let the boy in, I will call the police," added Mr. Kim from behind Taehyung. "I'm sure they would love to know about all the illegal things going on here."

"Fine," said Doc as he opened the door wide enough for the two of them to enter, "But I'm serious when I tell you he could die any day now. Heck, he could die any minute. He's been unconscious since the separation and the stats aren't good..."

Taehyung was already tuning Doc off as he strode into the house with a purpose. Doc's place was large, so Taehyung didn't have a clue where he was going. He just kept walking down the hall and throwing open door after door until he finally found the room he was looking for.

Taehyung felt his heart drop into the pit of his stomach when he saw how sad the room looked. It looked like it was mainly occupied by machinery. He almost missed the bed where Jungkook was lying, strung up to wires like he was a robot. He looked so pale and weak; an oxygen mask over his mouth. His eyes were shut, no doubt because he was still unconscious like Doc had said. Taehyung half feared that Jungkook was already dead and that the machines were just making him look alive still.

As soon as the initial shock of horror had left his system, Taehyung forced himself to move forward until he was standing by Jungkook's bedside. He felt the tears misting his eyes. This was not how he wanted things to be. Jungkook couldn't die. He needed to live like the rest of them, not to mention he didn't even know about his son.

"Hey punk. What do you think you're doing?" asked Taehyung, trying to act tough despite the aching in his chest. "Trying to be a martyr and all that just because you thought we wanted to live separate lives again was stupid of you."

Taehyung felt tears tripping down his cheeks unbidden as he continued.

"None of us wanted you to die. It's why we did what we did in the first place, so you can't let it all be in vain. Wake your selfish butt up. You have a life to live."

Jungkook didn't answer Taehyung; the noises of the machine being the only other sound Taehyung could hear. Taehyung soon found what little strength he had been able to muster leaving him as he sank down onto his knees beside Jungkook, reaching to grab one of his hands.

"You need to fight," said Taehyung. "Jungkook...stay strong for us. For Lia."

That name seemed to hold magic for all of them. Taehyung knew his eyes were blurry with tears, so he thought he had mistaken the weak movement beneath Jungkook's eyelids for a moment. However, soon enough Jungkook opened his eyes just barely so they were nothing more than slits. Taehyung clung tightly to Jungkook's hand as he heard Doc and Mr. Kim entering the room behind him.

"Even if he wakes up now, he won't make it," said Doc. "He's not strong enough alone."

"He's not alone," said Taehyung finally coming to a decision as he turned to look at Doc; the tears having frozen on his cheeks. "I want you to combine our lives again."

"I'm not sure if I can get all of you back here..." started Doc as Taehyung shook his head.

"No. I mean he and I. Just us. Combine just us," said Taehyung as Doc's eyes widened.

"Tae..." Jungkook let out in a ghostlike whisper; his words sounding like air leaving a tire.

Taehyung turned back to look at Jungkook to see that he had forced his eyes open a bit more. There was a recognition that burned there along with a sadness.

"I'm not being swayed," said Taehyung as he looked at Jungkook. "I can't let you die."

"There's no going back this time if you choose to do this," cautioned Doc. "With just two of you, separating you back apart after would kill you both."

"Don't worry," said Taehyung as he looked at Jungkook as he talked instead of Doc or Mr. Kim. "We won't need to separate after this. We fortunately love the same woman."

A single tear slipped out of Jungkook's eye then as he looked at Taehyung; Taehyung squeezing his hand tightly.

"There are a few conditions to this though that we need to iron out first," said Taehyung as he finally turned back around to look at Doc, "And Mr. Kim will be our witness to make sure you keep your word while we're under."
