John fucking Green.

i started reading the new john green book (turtles all the way down) yesterday and I'm pretty much exactly halfway through at the moment and i have been fucking blessed.

i love john green, i love john green so much. his characters are so well written. everything in his books are so well researched. the best friend in turtles is a fanfiction writer and she actually talks like one.

and aza is literally the best representation of a mental illness i have ever seen. i have anxiety problems like she does, and her thought spiral thing is literally exactly like me. i don't even care about the external plot of this book that much, i'm paying approximately three attention to that shit. i'm mostly reading it for aza.

i always see people say that john green romanticises mental illness, and, um, no?

let me just disprove this:

"I guess she was trying to make me feel better, but I find mental disorders to be vastly overrated. Madness, in my admittedly limited experience, is accompanied by no superpowers; being mentally unwell doesn't make you loftily intelligent any more than having the flu does."

i love this book. it is a really good book.
