Meeting the Spiers
•Jasmine's POV•
My jaw drops.
"What do you mean you don't want me to see him anymore?!" I shout.
"Jasmine, please. Calm down." He sighs.
"I will not calm down! I've been dating Jake for two years, I love him! And now you find out about us and say I can't be with him! This is why I didn't tell you!" I shout.
"Jasmine, please just let me explain."
"Fine." I growl, slouching back on the couch.
"Do you remember the man I told you about?" He says calmly.
"What man?"
"The man that your mother was with before she met me. The man that was abusive to her and attacked our relationship, Will." He says, refreshing my memory.
"Yeah...? What does he have to do with Jake?" I frown.
"His last name is Spier, too. I believe, Jake is his son. I don't want you around that family. They're dangerous, and I can't take the risk of you getting hurt. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you got hurt."
"Dad, how do you know for sure that Will is Jake's father?" I ask.
"Well, I don't know for sure but I'm not taking any chances."
"And what if this guy isn't Jake's father? What if it's a different family with the same last name? Then, we would take away my happiness, for what?" I argue.
"Okay, fine. You can invite them over tomorrow for dinner. Then, we can find out for sure." He sighs.
"Okay. I should probably get to bed now. Good night, Dad. I love you." I smile, getting up.
He gets up as well and hugs me.
"I love you, more. I want you to know that I'm only trying to protect you because I love you so much. You're my little girl." He says and kisses me on my forehead.
"I know." I nod.
"Sleep well, sweetie."
"You too, Dad." I reply, going up the stairs.
— The next day —
•Michael's POV•
Jasmine has invited Jake and his family over for dinner and they should be here any minute now.
"They're here!" Jasmine squeals, opening the door.
I stand back and giggle. She's just like me that way. Not afraid to show her excitement. Jake walks in and Jasmine quickly latches onto him, hugging him like she hasn't seen him in years.
"Hello, Jake. It's nice to see you again." I chuckle.
"It's nice to see you too, Michael." He smiles.
Then, a familiar face appears and my jaw clenches.
"Hello, Michael. Long time, no see." Will chuckles devilishly, stepping into the house.
"Will." I grit my teeth.
He then turns to welcome in no one other than Mya.
"Hey, Michael." She smirks.
"Mya." I grit so hard it feels like my teeth are going to break.
Everyone goes to sit at the table in the dining room and I try to calm myself, for Jasmine.
"So, Michael. How have you been?" Mya smirks as I sit at the table.
"Fine." I fake a smile, trying to be civil.
"Wait a minute, you guys know each other?" Jasmine asks.
"Oh, yes. We go way back. Don't we, Michael?" Will winks.
'Yeah, since you raped my wife.' I think but don't say a word.
Cheryl, my cook, places everyone's plates in front of them and we begin to eat.
"Mm, this is good!" Will says.
He's purposely trying to push me until I explode. But, I won't let him. I'm going to be the good guy here.
Soon, everyone is finished and it's time for the Spiers to leave.
"Bye, Baby. I'll miss youuuuuu." Jasmine coos as Jake pulls her in for a hug.
"I'll miss you too, baby girl. I love you." Jake laughs, kissing her on the forehead.
"Byeeee." Jasmine says as her boyfriend leaves.
The door shuts and she sighs, smiling as she turns to me.
"See they're not so bad." She shrugs.
"Hm, I was right about who they are. Not to mention Mya was that girl that tried to ruin your mother and I's relationship. I don't want you seeing him." I sigh.
My heart shatters as my daughter's beautiful eyes well up with tears and she runs up the stairs to her room. I hate to hurt her like this but I want her to be safe. I can't have her around those people.
I walk up the stairs and continue to her bedroom. The door's closed and I'm about to knock but I hear her.
"He said I can't see you anymore, Jake! He doesn't want me near you or your family because of their stupid past! I love you, Jake. I love you so much. Thank you for last night, it meant so much to me. I really do love you." She cries into her cell phone, I'm assuming.
I decide to just let her be for the rest of the night so she can have time to cool off. I go to my room and lay on the bed, facing the night stand where a framed picture of Bella sits at a perfect angle.
"Oh, Bella. Our little girl is growing up so fast. She reminds me so much of you. I love you so much, cupcake." I sigh as tears stream down my face while I study my late wife's smile.
— The next day —
Jasmine has just left for school. She didn't say a word to me at all this morning. Didn't even acknowledge me. I would be lying if I said that didn't hurt me. But, it's understandable why she's behaving that way.
•Jasmine's POV•
I can't believe him. He thinks he can force me not to go near the love of my life? What would he do if his parents told him he couldn't see my mother when they were together? He wouldn't listen to them! So what does he expect me to do?!
I walk into the school and go to first period; Chemistry. I see Jake right away and sit next to him as I usually do.
"I thought you weren't allowed near me." He mumbles.
"I'm not. But does Dad have eyes here? No." I say, grabbing his hand.
"Want to come over to my house after school? You could just tell your father that you're going to Courtney's house." Jake says.
"Sure. I'll text him." I nod.
— Lunchtime —
"Hey, girlie." Courtney greets me as I meet her at our usual spot.
"Hey, wanna go grab some pizza or something? I'm starving." I sigh.
"Sure." She shrugs and we start walking.
We get to the pizza place and order before sitting in a booth.
"So, the party." Courtney smirks.
"The party? What about it?" I frown.
"I noticed that you and Jake snuck away for a long time. Where did you guys go? What did you guys do? Give me the dirty deets!" She giggles.
"Not that it's any of your business, but we snuck upstairs to find an empty room and...." I smirk.
"Ahhhh, no way! My girl got some! Now tell me. Was he good?"
"Oh, yes!" I sigh.
"Really? Jake?" She laughs.
"Yeah, why? Are you surprised or something?"
"Well, kind of. I mean, it's Jake." She shrugs, grabbing a slice of pizza as the waiter sets it on our table.
— After school —
Jake and I get off his school bus and walk into his house.
"Mom, Dad! We're here!" Jake shouts.
"Oh hey Jasmine! What a pleasant surprise!" Jake's father smiles.
"Hello." I smile.
"We'll be upstairs." Jake says and takes me by my hand.
We go upstairs to his room and I take a look around. All these times I've been to his house and I've never been in his room.
"Welcome!" Jake laughs as he turns the TV on.
"Jake!!" I hear his father shout.
"Yeah?!" Jake shouts back.
"We ran out of milk, could you run to the store and get some?"
"Uh, sure!!" Jake once again, shouts.
"Man. This is a noisy house. Haven't you guys heard of texting?" I giggle.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny. Do you want to come with me or stay here?"
"I think I'll stay here. I like this show." I smile looking at the TV.
"Okay. I'll be back soon." He sighs, leaving.
